War & Peace #4

This Isn't You, Baby

Rate this book
***This is the fourth book in the series. First three books must be read first in order to understand this story line.***

I was a pawn.
Weak and someone easily manipulated.
To be played with as he saw fit.
Until YOU.

YOU shone light in my now dark world.
It was YOU who made me smile.
For the first time in this game, I had hope.
All because of YOU.

The more powerful pieces on the board, however, were a threat to YOU and me.
They would win at any cost.
Two kings ruling with an iron fist.
Allies or opponents, it was hard to tell.

YOU promised to save me.
Told me we would win.

But then I was on the wrong side of the board.
This isn't YOU, baby.
And I don't know what to do.

The game is almost over and I'm counting on YOU.
Tick, tock...

Warning:
This Isn’t You, Baby is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes, excessive drug use, and violence, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for YOU.

This story will make YOU smile.
This story will make YOU angry.
This story will make YOU crazy.

I hope YOU love it, baby.

Like the earlier books in this series, 'This Isn't You, Baby' will keep you in a state of nervous anticipation from beginning to end. I never knew who the "bad guy" was or what would happen next. The suspense was incredible!

Gabriella, aka "Brie", is the daughter that Gabe abandoned in the last book when he ran off with Hannah. After the murder of her mother, and with her father nowhere to be found, Brie is thrown into the system. Soon after, she is adopted by a wealthy family with a daughter her age.

By all outwardly appearances, Brie has lucked out with her new family. They're rich and well-known in the community. Everything seems great.

However, the reality is anything but nice. Her new "father" has plans for Brie. He's in deep with a drug cartel and is not the upstanding citizen that everyone thinks he is. He also has an unhealthy obsession with Brie.

I don't want to spoil this for anyone, so I won't give a recap of what takes place. I will say that it went in a different direction than what I had expected. I did not see many of the twists and turns along the way...and there were plenty.

Like it's predecessors, this story is dark and disturbing. There is mental and emotional abuse, rape, graphic violence, etc. This is not a series for individuals that shy away from dark content.

Yet, it has it's own vibe. It definitely stands out as it's own story, even though it's tied in to the other books loosely. "Old" characters were present, but took a background role. An entire cast of new characters were introduced, breathing new life into the series.

Although this story was hard to read at times, I couldn't pull myself away. In so few pages, Brie went through hell and back. Her journey has been a difficult one and it doesn't look like that is going to change anytime soon.

This book ends with a huge cliffhanger. I am dying to find out how the rest of Brie's story will play out. At the same time, I'm still reeling from the way this book ended. It looks like Ms. Webster will keep my in suspense a while longer.

”Love is strange, baby. It comes in all different forms and sizes. Sometimes it makes sense like the love I have for you and your mom. Other times, it’s confusing. Sometimes you have love for a person that doesn’t even know you. One day, you’ll find yourself all twisted up over love. It’ll make your heart hurt and your mind messy. But, sweet girl,” he says in a fierce tone, ”don’t ever let it get away. You deserve love. And in this family…” He chuckles and lets out a tired sigh. ”In this family, we do some crazy things for love . In this family, we don’t let love go.”

Well, K. Webster definitely takes us on another dark and scary roller coaster ride of emotions in this fourth installment of the War and Peace series. Although Gabe isn’t in the book all that much, the moments that he does make an appearance, either through flashbacks or brief visits during the present, leave a lasting impact. I found my heart warming up even more to this psychotic killer. He’s definitely guilty of performing some heinous acts but when he loves someone, he does whatever he can to protect them and the love in his heart knows no bounds. I enjoyed all the flashbacks between Gabe and his daughter Brie. They were poignant and even sweet. The main characters this time around are Gabe’s daughter, Brie, and Baylee & War’s oldest son, Ren.

War had assigned Ren the task of keeping an eye on Brie. They both had agreed to look out for her while Gabe promised to keep Hannah safe. After Gabe’s disappearance and her mother’s murder, Brie ends up being adopted by a wealthy man with questionable ties to some Columbian drug lords. Ren gets a job as the family’s landscaper and it is then that he witnesses the inappropriate obsession the man has over Brie. Brie and Ren become fast friends and soon it turns into much more. They’ve fallen hard for each other but Brie’s adopted father has major plans for her future which will cause a problem for the young lovers.

 photo Teaser 6 1_zpsurxencyg.jpg

Heath Berkley has promised his adopted daughter to one of the sons of the Colombian drug lord that he is partners with. At first, it was hard for me to get on board with this new development because I wanted Brie to be with Ren, but as time goes on, K. Webster has you warming up to the man she ends up marrying – Duvan Rojas. He seemed to be of a devious nature when he is first introduced but we quickly learn just how much he really cares for Brie. Things go awry with Brie and Ren, which has her deeply heartbroken and Duvan is there to help her pick up the pieces. But Ren never stops loving Brie or being concerned for her safety.

 photo Teaser 7_zpsdufwhfto.jpg

I don’t know why I had thought that this one would be on a lighter scale than the other books. I guess I had thought that this was going to be Brie and Ren's love story and both were so innocent, but boy was I wrong!! There’s quite a good amount of rape and drug usage in this one and yet again, we have a heroine who seems to be the obsession of almost every male character in the story. I found Brie to be mostly juvenile but to be fair she is only eighteen. And I was pretty shocked by how much I ended caring for Duvan.

There is a crazy twist at the end that I didn’t predict and we’re left with a promise of more to come in the next installment titled, THIS IS ME, BABY.

I enjoyed this story but it definitely wasn’t my favorite amongst all the other books. I did really love the moments we get of Gabe. You actually will end up feeling pretty bad for this man who is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He’s in love with a woman who is a billion times more psychotic than he is and has to isolate himself from his loved ones to protect them from sadistic little Hannah. I’m actually rooting for a happily ever after for Gabe when this series finally comes to an end. I feel like he is the true star of this crazy story!

Dear K. Webster,

This is me craving, begging, and demanding you for more. This is me addicted. This is me asking you for my next dark romance fix. Well, asking is putting it too mildly. More like imploring you. Fuck it, I am begging you to continue delivering stories that demands our attention. Stories that are filled with so many twist and turns. Stories that are filled with the unexpected. Stories that grips you to the core. Stories that shatters you but somehow you are able to weave romance and heart onto the open wound. Stories that makes me crazy with anticipation. So as you can see and tell, this is me bowing down to your crazy and brilliant mind. This is me admiring you for never conforming. This is me thanking you for once again delivering a story that was like a drug. A story that had me begging, drowning, and floating high with euphoria. So I guess, this is me intoxicated with your wicked, sinful, and meticulously flawless prose.

Sincerely,
~Michelle xo

I am IN AWE of K. Webster’s brilliant and sinister mind. In this fourth installment of War & Peace Series, Kristi has masterfully played and toyed with our hearts, minds, and emotions once again in This Isn’t You, Baby. Everything about this book was precisely crafted, detailed, and organized in such a creative, cunning, manipulative and sinister manner that readers like myself are left holding onto our breath and kept on the edge of our seats. I think it’s safe to say that if you read a K. Webster book, prepare for the unexpected.

photo 368601c015d77cdeccfe6dfaef5ae2_zpsgldsy4jc.gif “I kiss her as if she’s the drug I need. The addiction I am suffering from.”

The beauty of reading a K.Webster book is that unlikely secondary characters will find a way of to your heart. And this couldn’t be more true especially in This Isn’t You, Baby. Characters that you assumed would be just filler roles in order to enhance the story ended up playing pivotal roles in the transformation of Brie. Like any piece in a chess game, every piece is valuable. The key is to not overlook them and treat them like a pawn. And in this particular story, the pawn may be the one to surprise you.

#ThisIsnTYouBaby2

photo 368601c015d77cdeccfe6dfaef5ae2_zpsgldsy4jc.gif “A musky tongue is dancing with mine. The tiger is tearing me up. Marking me and owning me. Obliterating the sad girl and pulling the tigress from her ashes. “My Brie…”His musical words sear themselves into my soul.”

Brie may have just been a pawn to her adopted family. A means in order to bring a working relationship with her adopted family and a powerful Colombian drug cartel family. When she reached eighteen, she will be arranged to get married to one of the sons. In the backdrops before her arranged marriage, Brie forms a close relationship with Ren, Hannah’s younger brother. Ren’s job was to watch over Brie but in the process he began to have feelings for her. But what happens when Brie must decide her next move? To get married or be with Ren? Is she just an ordinary pawn? Or is she the unlikely pawn that has all the power and moves to dethrone her unsuspecting foes?

photo 368601c015d77cdeccfe6dfaef5ae2_zpsgldsy4jc.gif “When she was just a girl with no worries. Just a sad girl with a sad past. Now she’s much more than that. A broken girl. Dead inside.”

-#ThisIsntYouBaby1

photo 368601c015d77cdeccfe6dfaef5ae2_zpsgldsy4jc.gif “Sex was always one of my favorite activities. But sex with love, well, that’s quickly becoming an obsession. I’ve always had an addictive personality. And I’ll gladly inject her into my soul for the rest of my life.”

As I said before, K. Webster is a master of twist and turns. The unsuspecting surprise is the beauty of this book. It was the driving force as to why I inhaled this book in one sitting. Everything about this book was perfectly executed from the raw emotions, explicit sex scenes, and of course the craziness. The writing was beyond phenomenal as I was literally on the edge of my seat and I loved every moment of it. I know Brie is one of those characters who gradually worms her way into your heart. She is that heroine who surprises you. You want to hug her, hate her, scream at her, and love her. And I think seeing the progression and transformation of Brie is what made this book stand out. She may be a pawn but she is a worthy opponent who stood on the side and watched an unfolding of secrets, lies, and truths. So will she discover and embrace this new side? Is this the Brie that K. Webster intended for us to love? Or hate? I guess that is one answer you have to decide to for yourself. So are you ready for the crazy ride of This Isn’t You, Baby?

Oh between, Duvan Rojas... I love you so much babe... Sorry about what happened to you... :'(

"I’m going to love you until your heart stops bleeding from all the deep lacerations you’ve endured, that life has so cruelly inflicted.”
“And what if it never stops?”
Lifting up, I smirk at her. “Then I’ll simply keep loving you until mine stops beating in my chest.”

This Isn't You, Baby is the fourth installment in the War & Peace series by K. Webster. In this book, we get to know Gabe's daughter, Gabriella, and War and Baylee's son, Ren. Additionally, we are introduced to several new characters, and we get to revisit the ones we already know from previous books.

I am not going to write a full review for this, because I think you should just go into this one blind. All you need to know is that this is another fantastic addition to this amazing series. As usual, I was blown away by the excellent writing, the phenomenal characters, and the gripping plot. This story felt a little bit more like the first one, in my opinion, which was fine by me considering thats my favorite. I am devastated that it's over, and I have to wait for the next book to be published. That day can not come soon enough! :)

Shit! I don’t even know what to rate this.

Jesus Christ, this is one of the hardest books I’ve ever read. It was equal parts disturbing and emotionally riveting. That’s what makes it so difficult, because you want to stop and put it down but you can’t.

Oh wow, Hannah is a bigger mess than ever. You know there’s a problem when she makes Gabe look like a saint.

This ones a mother loving triangle … dammit. And I know exactly who I’d pick. I mean who knew he’d turn out to be such a wonderful man.

Oh Luciana, I hope you find your HEA.

Brie totally lucked out with that one, the alternative would’ve been so much worse.

I guess it didn’t matter that she avoided the original trap, she was still caught. And he’s ten times worse then Gabe ever was. Brie is so fucked!

Good God, Kristi is too good at making her characters a villain to their own victimization. Manipulation in its highest, most clever form.

It was five days?!

Don’t they know that matching tattoos is like the kiss of death to relationships?

Jesus fucking Christ!!! I’ve never hated being right, more in my life!

Even though I’m highly upset right now, it’s always a pleasure doing a BR with Cassandra.

With this book, I took a trip to Crazy Town and I'm not sure how to get home!!

Part One was loco. There were so many key players involved and quite frankly I was lost as to who to root for. Ren? Brie? Duvan? Oscar? Vee? As sweet and innocent as Brie was supposed to be portrayed, I wasn't convinced. It just didn't ring true for me. Add to that the fact that EVERY man seemed to want her and only her, my feelings for her didn't warm up. And Gabe was suddenly sane??? How did Webster get me to feel bad for him???

Part Two was insane. I fell hard for Duvan. Can't lie. And I absolutely abhorred Esteban. He was filth personified and there were so many examples of his evil. But Brie, once again, came off as a bloody fool. Her being only 18 wasn't a good enough excuse for her stupidity. She made dumb decisions and suffered horrific consequences for them. Thankfully Duvan was there to pick up the pieces. Who expected him to be so freaking amazing???

Part Three was devastating. It ends on a cliffy and the events that lead up to it are horrifying. I don't even want to say any more about it.

So why does this book deserve 5 stars??? Because when you're looking for something dark and suspenseful, you should look no further than K. Webster. She ALWAYS delivers!!

4 I’m not sure how I feel about this Stars

It’s no secret that I love this series. I would say This Isn’t You, Baby is a standalone, but you really need to read the series from the beginning to get the total FEELS for this book.

This is Brie’s story. Remember Gabe and the woman he shack it up with? Brie is the daughter. We got a tiny glimpse of what happened to Brie from the previous book. It left me completely curious and ready for a somewhat normal book.

Not that this series is normal, but Gabe’s book was REALLY out there. I just need something les crazy.

There’s a lot that goes on in this book and I get what K. Webster was trying to do. I just don’t know if I was for it or against it. I kind of wanted to hate it and I kind of wanted to love it.

We know that Ren has been keeping tabs on Brie. Ren is Warren’s son and all grown up and ready to take care of Brie. However, Ren is still a baby, in my opinion. He’s barely eighteen and hasn’t really been exposed to the world out there. He’s tough from his father, but I wouldn’t call him experienced.

Brie is sold off like cattle and soon she will be married to one of the crime drug lords. I was on edge with this book. I didn’t know who to trust and I questioned everyone. There are also a lot of characters in this book and you kind of have to make sure you don’t mix up one person for another.

There’s one part of the book that was FILLED with angst and I’m not sure how I feel about it. Just like K. Webster fashion she pushes your boundaries and makes the book crazy. I get it, but I wasn’t sure if I was fond of the angst, it was a bit too much for me and I read that part quickly.

I didn’t hate this book, but I didn’t love it. I felt like there wasn’t enough chemistry between a lot of the characters and I guess this book was a bit fast paced than I like and that’s hard for me to admit because I love fast pace books.

Overall, I enjoyed this read, I read it in one sitting and I was about to pull all of my hair out, but that’s what’s expected right? I will of course continue on.

Below are spoilers on my feelings ….

I made it through this fourth installment of the "War & Peace" series...but just barely...LOL
Going into this, I expected it would be dark and disturbing. What surprised me was that I found a trigger of my own. ( not sure why it surprised me!!) I have never liked heavy drug use in my stories. I am far too sensitive to it, and it really upsets me. ( Like, gut wrenching upset me..) So when this story takes a dark turn, and there is heavy usage involved, and not willing usage...let's just say that I became extremely sick to my stomach and didn't know if I could continue. I powered my way through it though...and I can honestly say that this particular book left me emotionally drained. It was a hard one for me, but I am still glad I read it!

This series is brutal....it really is. It has taken me on such a roller coaster ride, and there is still way more to come, I'm sure!!! Even having said that...I half to continue, and I have literally eat, breathed, and slept this book!!!! I haven't thought about much else!! I have become absolutely engrossed and sucked into the craziness that is these characters lives.

Forewarning....this is so dark...and sometimes it is absolutely unbelievable!!! Kind of like a Jerry Springer show times 50!!! LOL I can't stop though!!! K. Webster has done a brilliant job of keeping me on my toes...There has been no way of being able to predict what is going to happen. All I know is that there isn't any right or wrong in this world. Most of the characters are psycho in their own way...but in a weird way, they are all doing the things they do because of love, loyalty, and possessiveness...You know what...I am not even going to try and justify any of their behaviours!!!
If you are a reader that loves dark themed books....then this is a series for you. Take my word for it though....it will probably challenge you at some point. I honestly didn't think I could finish this one...now I am moving on to the next one...I am actually scared at this point!!! But I can't turn away!!!

I'll be honest, for most of this book I was like:

But then it turned into hmmm:

Then I was left like:

No one and I mean no one does insane, crazy, suspenseful, erotic books like K. Webster. She takes you to the edge. She makes you squirm. She makes you feel filthy, she makes you feel nauseated! She has no mercy. She hooks you in and there's no turning back. If you're halfway in and you're not caring so much for the story it doesn't matter, cause K. Web will make you care! Her characters will become so alive to you. Her story will scare the crap out of you and right when you think she's wrapping everything up and everyone gets to live in this happily ever after bubble in comes K. Web and her needle and she says "Muhahahaha!" and she pops said bubble and you're left shocked, amazed and quite frankly blown out of the freakin water!

I'm not one for dark reads. My heart just can't take too much of it. But when I want dark I know who to turn to...K. Web!

Let me preface this by saying things didn't exactly pan out the way I thought they would. First, I invested myself in a wrong character. It suck. Really suck.

Second, trigger warning for rape and drug abuse. It was difficult to read, at least for me. You never want to see *that*.

I did like it but there are things that happened that I just don't enjoy. Especially what happened at that ending. I don't like it.

"Of course, the perfect things only happen in dreams... This is our nightmare."

Ohhhmahgah! This Isn't You, Baby gave me the same feelings as the first book in the series. It took me by surprise because I wasn't expecting much after reading book 3. But wow... this was so good. This dark story kept me on my toes!

This can be read as a standalone, but I strongly suggest reading all the previous books to understand the background.

Trigger Warning: This dark romance novel contains scenes such as violence, sex, abuse, drugs, and profanity. This book / series will put you out of your comfort zone and it's not for everyone.

Before Gabe Sharpe fell in love with a psychopath like him, he was in a relationship with another woman and they have a child together. Her name is Gabriella Sharpe and this is her story.

When Brie Sharpe was abandoned by her father to be with the woman who brutally murdered her mother, she was adopted by Heath Berkley and it turns out he's lusting over her. His perverted stepfather and Camilio Rojas, head of the Colombian drug syndicate, want to strengthen their ties by having their children in arranged marriage. It is decided Brie will be marrying Duvan Rojas but she's in love with Ren Loveland .

What she didn't know: Ren isn't really an ordinary lawn boy. Ren is actually looking out for her and make sure she's safe. Also, being involved with him makes their family ties CRAZIER.

I took a break from this series to recover myself from all the craziness happened on the previous book (including those fucking Cucumbers and thank goodness this book doesn't have one! >:) bwaha!) which happens to be the darkest and the most twisted so far. Now my mood is back and swift through this book, I anticipated that somehow it will be lighter and I was right but as the story progresses…..oh my god, I was WRONG especially when I reached the ending. Brie went through a lot in the hands of Esteban (Duvan's traitorous brother). She's abused and drugged and her road to recovery wasn't easy. She deserves happiness and peace.

I'm already happy with the direction of the story and last minute, K. Webster TURNED THE FUCKING TABLES. HOLY FREAKING SHIT. I'm like: "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! *jaw drops*…. NO…..WAAAHHH NOOOO*more frustrated screaming* GET OUT BRIEEEEE!!... OH SHHHHHIII…. WTF" (Kindly excuse my reaction. I can't help it!) It's a bittersweet ending and I want to know what happens next for Brie.

If you love twisted and gritty dark romance novels, K. Webster's books are a must read.

This is the eighth book I read by K. Webster this year and she continues to intrigue and entertain me with her stories. I don't want this series to end because I am attached to all the characters. I was excited that they played important roles in this book as well. I love catching up with them.

We were introduced to Brie in the previous book. She is Gabe's daughter but because of circumstances was adopted by some shady people to be used as a pawn. I will leave it at that and if you have read the previous books you will WANT to read this one as well. Most of the previous characters make an appearance in this book as well, I just love reading about what they are up to. The author also opened up a road to more books in the series because there are still many intriguing characters that want their stories told. At least I want their stories told!

I had no idea which direction this story would go but of course the author didn't disappoint and surprised me like always. She was putting me on the wrong foot and hit me with a twist making me doubt what would happen next. K. Webster is the dark queen of plot twists. I just love what she comes up with. I should just stop trying to predict what will happen because most of the time I am wrong. This was the case in this book as well, she ended up leaving me saying WTF and WHY!? Some really messed up things happened, but I loved it! Yes, I love dark and twisted things in books and it feeds my dark soul I love this series and I need MORE!! I hope I don't have to say goodbye to these characters anytime soon.

This review is going to be short because if I attempted explaining what happens in this book, I'd trigger at least a thousand spoilers.

What I'm going to say is that I enjoyed it, but it didn't reach my expectations. I'd figured a much different story. Although some surprises were nice, like Brie's relationship with a certain someone I will not name not to spoil, the story got crazier and crazier, until it was just too much.

It wasn't, anyway, as crazy as "This Isn't Over, Baby." So there's that. I just couldn't connect with Brie, even though I liked her character. I felt like she didn't care about certain characters as much as I'd though she would, and she bonded with others way too fast, IMO, diminishing the strength of such relationships.

I fell in love with "This Is War, Baby" because of the incredible love story between Baylee and War, because it was clear who she was meant to be with, and because all in all War was an incredible, unique character. Here I felt like even the main H wasn't as deeply portrayed as War had been, and even though I liked him, I didn't love him and didn't care that much about what happened to him or Brie.

Will I keep reading this series? Maybe. The cliffhanger in the end got me a bit irritated and curious, but I'm not that sure I'm interested in knowing what happens to these characters. If the crazy extremeness was refreshing in the first books, I'm discovering it's not exactly my jam.

This Isn't You, Baby
K. Webster
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Webster makes you think that you don't have the right mindset. She makes you love the bad things written on her book. At least that's how I feel.
I enjoy her dark romances very much, she makes you appreciate total darkness like there's some goodness to it.

I thought the first book was a good one, the second book came I thought it was so good I cried. Then came the third book, my favorite villain of course, Gabe. Then hooooly shumcks, it gets better when you read this book.
Can I give this baby more than five stars, cause I ain't fooling around how awesome this story turned out.

I see a pattern now, you'd think that hey this guy is the one but on the long run there'll be this other guy who is better than the other, it makes you feel bad for the first guy cause, yeah, HE WAS THERE FIRST!

Ren was sweet, really I thought he was that 'it' guy you know. Webster introduced Duvan as the bad guy, oozing with danger, smug faced bastard that has a badass bod. Of course everybody would choose Ren right?
I was having doubts when Duvan showed his good side to Brie thinking that maybe it was all for show. Then he rescued her from the perverted father, he was on my good side by then.
Then Brie flipped when she knew the truth about Ren. In this part, honestly I didn't care if she dumped Ren already, he wasn't there let along he was not the one who came to the rescue from Heath.

At this point of the book I was inlove with Duvan, big scary guy who was secretly a teddy bear kind. I judged him quickly, yep that's me, JUDGEMENTAL. He was so sweet and kind and ugh, I want a Duvan too!!!

Of course not everything is smooth sailing, Esteban happened. What pisses me off is that Duvan knew what his brother was like and he still welcomed him into his house. Well he knew what he wanted from the beginning, everything was really his fault. Poor Brie suffered a lot, good thing Duvan knows how to fix it.

I wish Brie got the ending she deserved, Duvan happily everafter in paradise, I love you Webster but, why do you always ruin it!!! I'm literally screaming WHY WHY WHY!!! If Heath was a real man, I'd give Gabe a hand in butchering that mofo.

Honestly I don't want this series to end, like make another book for every character! Make a book even for the lady that doesn't have a tongue, I don't care! Hell, make a book for Toto!
Just make it laaaast!

“Love is strange, baby. But, sweet girl, don’t ever let it get away. You deserve love. And in this family…in this family, we do some crazy things for love. In this family, we don’t let love go.”

I'm still processing.........................
Please. Stay. Tuned.

Now back to our regularly, scheduled program.

And we are back!

This is Book #4 in the War & Peace series. A series that has pretty much consumed my 2016 year. This series is one of the most addicting book series out there. It's like watching a guilty pleasure TV show but on crack. Each book is a roller coaster of madness and destructiveness. And just like a roller coaster ride, be sure to hold on tight because you have NO IDEA what is in store for you. And man can those cliffhangers drive a person batshit crazy!

There is so many emotions in this book: sadness, hurt, deception, mistrust, brokeness. I feel like these characters couldn't catch a break at life. This was especially true for Brie. Miss Gabriella Sharpe. Yup, Gabe's daughter. This is, in my opinion, her journey, her story now. And what a journey it is. A story of twists, turns and turmoil. Her loves, her hates, her downfall, her resurrection. The good, the bad and ugly of growing up with the sort of love that is not only passionate but powerful.

I don't want to give anything away about the book. But know that just like all K. Webster books, you WILL get attached to the characters, you WILL get attached to the story line, you WILL get attached to all things about her writing. But also know that with that attachment, there is also that slim chance that everything WILL implode and explode. Shit WILL hit the fan! One moment you will being awww and oooohing while reading. And then BAM! you gasp because she totally did a 180 on your head and heart. Everything you read just got 100 times more intense.

And just as Brie is wondering, where ARE the good men?
Where?

Ren who was her Knight in Lying Armor?
Duvan who was her cartel tiger?
Ozzy who was suppose to be her friend but then turned on her with advances and innuendos?
Heath who gave her-and us the readers-the creeps because he looked at her as a meal and meal ticket for his depravities?
Esteban who turned out to be far worse than even crazycakes Gabe?
And speaking of Gabe, where is the hero daddy that promised to always be there for his little girl, to keep her safe and secure in life no matter the circumstances?

I guess we shall get closure and answers for these and all other questions in the next installment of War & Peace series.
Stay tuned.
You don't want to miss ANYTHING!

“I’m going to love you until your heart stops bleeding from all the deep lacerations you’ve endured, that life has so cruelly inflicted.”

“And what if it never stops?”

“Then I’ll simply keep loving you until mine stops beating in my chest.”

************************************

I may not ever have her again.
But that memory I’ll hold on to until the day I die.

Choked !! That's what I'm feeling . Choked !
I'm so so so so gratefull that I got to read this book early.
First of all, the story is a heartwarming tale of Love. And then there's war. An all out war where Brie becomes a pawn. She finds solace in the damndest places while the devil finds her and tries to drag her down to Hell. The story is a maze of Love, Revenge, Murder, Betrayal, friendship and Peace. But every emotion is transitory. Ready to be snatched from Gabriella's hands as she longs for her Mom and Dad, her First Love , Her Husband's love.
Gabriella is trapped in a hostile and dangerous world of drug cartels an Predatory Heath and unrequited love of Ren and her own empty heart pining for her mother and Dad. Her life's decisions are made FOR her and she is helpless and bound. I fell HARD for Duvan. Like really really hopelessly in Love with him.
Like the Tigress who fell for her Tiger !!

“The rooster pulls at her feathers like I pull on your hair. Kinky bastards.”
“In this family, we do some crazy things for love. In this family, we don’t let love go.”

That's the power of Kristi's writing, finding love in darndest of places. The happiness is short lived as misfortune strikes Brie's life again and again.
The writing is matchless.

Words so vile and fucked up, I want to scoop them all up so I can crush them with my fist.

The characters she created are so vivid that I hated Esteban, I loved Duvan, I Hugged Ren and Oscars and Vienna. I loathed Heath.
My mouth was gaping and all from reading what I was actually reading. But that is true of all of Kristi's books. I am always wondering -how's she gonna top that, but this versatile Writer's talent has no bounds. She manages to surprise us readers with new plots, new stories, new characters again and again and again !. I've never looked forward to any writers books as I do hers.
I'm a proud #Cucumber4Life !

Whenever I sit down and start to read a K Webster book, I'm honestly a little on edge. Like when you go in a haunted house and you just keep looking around, waiting for a zombie to grab your ankle. Yeah that's me reading a K Webster book.

Much of her writing is unexpected, dark, and pushes the limits. It's why I love her work, and what keeps me coming back, but it also terrifies me. This story was NO exception. So it's not surprising that I had some anxiety going into This Isn't You, Baby. I feel connected and invested in these characters and their world, so I get a little emotional. Even though all of my fears were justified, this story FUCKING blew me away. K Webster gives these characters such an amazing story.

Honestly, all I'm really allowed to tell you is that this story has people in it. People you know if you've read books 1-3! People with fucked up lives, fucked up feelings, and fucked up minds. This story is also full of love, young love, passionate love, obsessive love, unconditional love. It's disgusting and horrible, but beautiful all at the same time.

Sometimes stories like this make you uncomfortable, but they should. This story is discomfort defined. It's about something common and true to life and probably one of the most realistic stories (concept wise) in this series.

I highly recommend reading this book. You MUST read the rest of the books to understand this one. It's worth it, this story and all of them together... is fantastic.

There is a cliffhanger, BUT IT'S honestly needed and warranted! After everything that happened in this story, I needed a little breather to take it all in! There are many situations that could be considered triggers. You've been warned.

5 BLOODY-FANTASTIC ADDICTIVE STARS!!

WARNING: If you like having your heart in your chest, if you like happy endings, if you're NORMAL and like NORMAL love stories, then I'm sorry mate but this AIN'T the book for you, baby. However, if you like dark twists, bloody cliffhangers, getting your heart ripped out of your chest and a LOT of dirty, twisted, nasty sex? Then welcome, because this book will sate your deepest darkest desires.

Um. WTF? I am trying SO-SO-SO-SO hard not to leave any spoilers in this review. And that's hard because I have a LOT to say about this bloody-fantastic, jaw-clenching book. I received an ARC for this book and omg I'm kinda mad about it because NOBODY has bloody read it yet and nobody understands my pain. AND I have to wait even longer for next book.

Quick heads up. DON'T read this if you like happy endings. There is a MASSIVE F*CKING CLIFFHANGER AT THE END OF THIS BOOK. And I have SO MUCH ANGER AND HATE FOR K WEBSTER. YOU ARE SO-SO-SO-SO EVILLLLLL! I hate you a million yet I am borderline obsessed with the way your mind works, and the absolute GENIUS (and filth) that comes out of it!

Brie (Gabriella) she's just a lost little girl who absolutely adored her father. The one person she worshipped and made her happy and then to have her life just ripped to shreds in an instance is heart breaking. Now all of sudden she's adopted into a family that hates her (except Vee, sometimes) and is to be married off to Colombian drug lords. SCARY MUCH? So its kind of an understandable the way she acts in this book. She annoyed the crap outta me sometimes, and I LITERALLY had to talk myself down from throwing my kindle at the wall at some of the shit she did. But I still loved her. All she wants to be, is happy. And to feel loved.

Ren - I don't know what the f*ck is running through his mind throughout this book. He literally needs to get his sh*t sorted because he's lacking, mate.

Duvan = my FUCKING LIFE! And that's all I'm gonna say because once I get started, I just won't stop.

K WEBSTER I bow down to your awesome-ness but WHYYYYY?????? THIS IS PROBABLY THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED WITH ONE OF YOUR BOOKS. And I'm probably saying this because the wounds are still fresh because I literally say this about all her books, but WHYYYYYYYY???

I'm rocking back and forth on my couch contemplating life. I literally screamed at my sister when she told me to get over it. BECAUSE THERE IS NO F*CKING POSSIBLE WAY TO EVEN DO THAT. I attacked her. But that's what this book has made me resort to. I just wanna live inside of this book and never leave. Well, maybe only leave when the next book comes, but then go back inside and just LOVE IT!

I'm dying but this was the BEST BOOK!

This Isn't You, Baby by K. Webster is book four in the War & Peace series. It is best enjoyed when read with the rest of the books in this series.

"If you love someone, you don't set them free. You hold onto them."

Brie's life has been anything but typical, her mother murdered, her father a bit of a psycho. She has become a second thought in another family, except when certain men see her body and the potential that she can offer.

"One day, you'll find yourself all twisted up over love. It'll make your heart hurt and your mind messy."

I fell back down the War & Peace hole. This book was ah-mazing! This Isn't You, Baby was a high-octane read with excellent characters and dialogue that fueled a thrilling story line. It had such a different feel than the other books, but the intensity was still pounding. I expected a piece of chocolate cake. Instead I found myself heart-deep in coconut cream pie, loving it just as much. Totally unexpected. Heart racing. Soul pounding. Page flipping. Skin sweating. Mind spinning. Jaw dropping. Tears tracking. Tissues dwindling. Brain screaming. This was just one of the most unexpected books I've read. Take my word for it. Read it. Devour it. You won’t regret it.

"I need you. All of you."

I feel like I'm dying a thousand deaths! The pain... the agony! This Isn't You, Baby gutted me, I was sick over what happened. But boy, oh boy, did I love it so much. LOVE IT. It's the forth book in the War and Peace series and it blew me away. I hope this series never ends!

I don't know how she continues to surprise me, but she does. K. Webster is one of the most unpredictable authors I've had the pleasure of reading. This is the sixth book I've read by her that was just incredible! I've stopped trying to guess what will happen next, the path the stories will take because it does me no use. Her writing is addictive and the storytelling is original. I'm glued to her words and can't get enough.

Just like the previous books in this series, This Isn't You, Baby is dark and wicked. It's not for the faint of heart, and that's why I love this series because the author doesn't hold back. She digs deep and draws out the characters emotions. They're raw and felt from the first page. Gritty. I love that. I love being able to connect to the characters and understand their journey with them. But then a plot twist hits and the pain is overwhelming and I don't know how to deal!

I'm not going to summarize this novel in fear of spoiling something, but I highly suggest reading the series in order to get the full impact. If you love dark romance, read this! You will not be sorry. It's told in three parts with three different points of view that flowed perfectly. Talk about a wild ride! Just amazing. I'm so in love.

***** 5 STARS *****

K Webster never fails to deliver a power and twisted read. This one picks up a little after where This Isn't Over, Baby leaves off. With Brie's mom being murdered and her dad running off with a crazy woman, she has been left alone and adopted by a wealthy family. The problem is, this family had ulterior motives for adopting her. The goal is to connect two powerful drug lords by arranging for her marriage.

Every step of the way, poor Brie is confronted with monsters. Some scarier than others. The biggest problem is that there is no hiding from them. No safe place. Ren has unexpectedly fallen for Brie and gotten close to her. He wants to be her white knight and ride her off into the sunset. But Ren is just a boy, a lowly pawn in this big bad world of kings. What you think you know, is probably wrong. The one you think will save her, probably won't. It's a thrilling ride!

There's definitely some dark themes, some that might make you squirm and uncomfortable. But if you're reading this, you've probably read far worse by K Webster at the beginning of this series. War and Baylee's family all make an appearance as well as our most beloved and hated never dying Gabe.
