Ace Baxter, displaced detective. He can’t boot the ghosts out of his house, get his sister to stop worrying about him, or figure out why his cell phone keeps dying, but when the local librarian calls with a new case, he can at least find a missing box of old photos for her.

No problem, right?

But when the search leads him down a rabbit hole of ugly secrets and lost loves, the simple assignment becomes a murder mystery that threatens to expose everybody’s dirty laundry and get Ace killed. Now ghosts are the least of his problems, and batteries aren’t the only things that might end up dead.

This novella is a short paranormal cozy mystery with everything that makes a story spooky – secrets, ghosts, and a foggy Southern town with a history of murder.

Power drain

A good read, but he is a bit slow on the uptake sometimes (like the power draining from his electricals). When the librarian asks him to retrieve photos taken off her by a man that has been missing for 15 years. He agrees especially as it will put her mind at ease now that she has gotten engaged. Will he be able to put the information together and find out what happened 15 years ago? What are the chances that he will find the photos? The plot was quite good but the buyer of the insurance business shouldn't have gotten off scott free? Plus he was really slow to add ghost + high electricity bill together.
