Chaz Hutton, the world’s first sticky note lifestyle guru, has taken it upon himself to figure it all out so we don’t have to. He covers all the important dating, working, eating, fighting gorillas, the impossible physics of toothpaste, the family history of a sock drawer, and so much more.
Basically, all the big life questions that you didn’t realise needed answering.
The first reaction I had when I flipped through this book was – omg, sticky notes! Printed sticky notes on each page, literally! I then proceeded to parading the book to all my family and friends (victims?) who would listen to my many ramblings on it. Haha! This book is one of a kind and the author, Chaz, knows very well of it.
A Sticky Note Guide to Life is a collection of sticky notes illustrating observations of different parts of one’s life – work, home, entertainment, dating, technology and well — assorted nonsense that will make you laugh, smile and have those ah-hah! moments.
I find this book extremely engaging and fun to read. Your life will be analysed and represented in the form of pie charts, flow charts, line graphs etc. in the most thoughtful way possible. I love the captions that accompany each sticky note – Chaz has a colourful characters, and it shows.
Each of us lead different lives and sometimes even, very unique from the rest. As such, not every situation in the book may be relatable to you but it does give you a glimpse on what goes around another person’s life – no matter how exaggerated or true it may be. You may also not understand everything that is represented – which makes it fun when you start deciphering the messages with friends and family, or get everyone confused along the way.
Certainly a unique book you could read with your loved ones to have a good laugh. I look forward to more interesting outlooks from Chaz. You can check out more of his work on his instagram account – @instachaaz.
You might wonder, why buy a book when the content is all available on Instagram. But this is a way to support the creative and publishing industry, as well as the hard work of the author.
Chaz used to be an architect, who loves to draw flow charts, graphs and stickmen about work, home, entertainment, food & drink, technology, and assorted nonsense on plain yellow sticky notes with a black marker to kill time at work. Encouraged by his friend, he started putting them on his Instagram and boom! It went great, and Chaz quitted his job to do it now.
It is amazing to see how Chaz captures those bits and pieces consciously and presents them on just a piece of post-in note in a humorous way.
This is a book to keep for re-reading. No matter when you read it, any page of the book would definitely get you.
This is the Post-It® Note version of xkcd – wry observations of life, limited by the size of one slip of yellow paper and one man's imagination.
He is completely up to the task.
Each Note is self-explanatory but the book does improve on the Instagram account by providing explnaation's of the author's head space, side notes, or funny asides. In sort, the jokes have jokes.
i like the concept. yet there is too much text. and too little cartoons. and that's a sign the author knows the cartoons are incomplete and need a context. but wait, that would make a batman volume text with some illustrations. that is hansel und gretel.
and i like the cartoons. they are very shallow. and that is okay, as they are easy to understand from a meme consumer perspective. sometimes they are maybe too shallow.
Loved this book by Chaz Hutton. The book very precisely used sticky notes full of pie charts, line graphs, Venn diagrams and what not to depict how we live our life in this fast paced world. Extremely engaging and fun read. Also, suitable choice if you are running behind in your Goodreads challenge and need quick but satisfying win:)
Picked this up after scanning a few pages in the Brown University bookstore - LOVED it. I had to buy it and read it all in an afternoon. I haven't laughed so much at a book in a very long time.
Definitely going to follow the author on Instagram (where this got started).
Just like the author, who admitted that this isn’t really a guide to life, I feel that these sticky notes are drawn just for the sake of curing boredom and this book is certainly not in any way a guide to life.
Very refreshing and natural illustrations. I generally read them after a tiring day at work, during commute or during lunch hours. Loved the compilation!
Loved this. I feel bad that I only looked at the post-its and not the writing below. I follow Instachaaz on Instagram so was very pleased when someone bought me this book!
I randomly found this book at my local tube station's book exchange this morning and despite being in the middle of another book I had on me I couldn't help but flick through it... two commutes later I finished this hilarious and eerily accurate depiction of the challenges of adulting as told through the medium of post-its. The drawings are a delight, the Venn diagrams acutely confronting, and the text underneath each yellow page from life providing additional insight into either the author's own experiences or a fun fact related to the drawing above it. This was a sheer joy from start to finish and I'll now be subscribing to the Instagram account these stories originated from.
I've been following Chaz's Instagram account for a while now and I've always enjoyed his content. Relatable and funny. This book is exactly what I expected from him so it's no surprise that I enjoyed every single page of it.
I created an Instagram account solely so I could follow Chaz Hutton and his sticky notes. They're awesome. Not every single one resonated for me but so many of them did. I read this cover to cover in an hour and could see me rereading this over and over again.
Great book to binge read in an orgy of laughter or dip in and out of when sharing with friends. It was well worth Chaz's leap of faith to quit his job.
