Charming the Earl

Rate this book
In this clean and wholesome Regency Romance, Anna Quinlan is soundly snubbed by the man of her dreams. Shocked and frustrated, she increases her efforts to snag the earl, having no comprehension of what really drives the man... .

Lady Anna Quinlan is attending her first ball. But she has already fallen for the earl, Edmund Rothschild. She is certain that with her beauty and clever ways, he will fall in love with her. Innocent and naïve, Anna has no idea how the real world works.

The young earl, Edmund Rothschild, has devoted his life to helping the needy. He is ridiculed and harassed for this passion, but he doesn’t care. He certainly has no time for simpering young women whose only desire is pleasure, stature, and wealth. Edmund is convinced that no girl could possibly see beyond her own nose to the hurting masses.

And for the most part, he’s right. Until something happens that creates a jolting shift, cracking his world wide open.

Charming

A nice quick read when you're trying to get some reading of a book into a busy day. The characters are believable and real. Lady Anna quickly realized she's as shallow as a drop of water. Lord Edmund is a prince among the men of the ton, most of which would rather drop dead than help the poor.

Enjoyable Short Read

Another sweet story by Grace Austen, I often think Grace's stories need an epilogue as they are short and sometimes end abruptly, but this story I felt ended as it should with Edmund and Anna acting decisively, and one felt they knew how it would end. Anna had been spoilt all her life and she expected the unexpected to always be provided but on meeting Edmund, whom she thought would fall at her feet, with love for her, and was told in no uncertain terms what he thought of her, her world took a turn for the better, and what a lovely story it turned out to be. Edmund although his peers thought him decided my off was a gem of a man and deserved happiness from the right woman and he finally found it with Anna.
I would recommend this book.

Lessons to learn

Anna is a spoiled young woman who expects her life to unfold like a fairy tale. Edmund is an earl who spends his time helping the poor and disadvantaged.

Anna has some lessons to learn before she can gain Edmund's respect.
