Midnightstar is losing her mind.

Running from both her pack and her destiny, the she-wolf Midnightstar finds herself trapped within strange visions and new powers. Unsure of what her magic means, Midnightstar focuses instead on finding the Assembly of the Lands, the council that can stop the war between the unicorns and the wolves. Meanwhile, her older brother Shadowin and her sister Jade struggle to chase off the Ortusans, the werewolf-vampire hybrids who have taken the realm hostage, while her younger brother Snapfoot desperately attempts to keep the pack alive during a famine that consumes all.

After a run-in with a mysterious Changer, Midnightstar discovers she is the last skygazer, a creature born to be the vessel between the realm of the living and the dead. Consumed by the haunting voices pulling her from the light to the dark, Midnightstar is lost to the pleas of her friends, and the love of the dragon determined to make her his.

Will Midnightstar be able to summon the power of a skygazer? Or will the Lands fall to chaos and destruction?

The fifth installment in the Creatures of the Lands series, readers will be swept away by a world of fairies, myth, swords and sorcery. Shifters, wolves, vampires and more make up this stunning young adult fantasy in Natalie Erin’s saga of friendship and adventure.

Flew through this wonderful book, and I'm almost sad I did! I don't want the series to end. At first I wasn't keen on reading this installment because it derails from the main group the readers have been following for the previous four books. After getting past that disappointment, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Midnightstar and her adventure, as well as Snapfoot's, Shadowin's and Jade's.

This book focuses more on the wolves in the Verinian, specifically Midnightstar, who is a stargazer and her dragon, Xiuh. I found the concept of a stargazer and her portal to be incredibly interesting! If you want to find out what a stargazer and portal are I recommend reading this book for yourself, it is well worth it.

Overall, if you enjoy fantasy stories with magical creatures, talking animals, and battles and war, this book (and this series) is for you, and I suggest you start with Kiatana's Journey.

This novel is so much different than the rest of the series. Occurring simultaneously with Vixen's Fate, this novel follows the wolves of the Land. I liked the fact that this installment didn't follow the normal characters (Allie, Kennu, Kia, Keota....).

Midnightstar is the last skygazer (woot mystical stuff!). She needs to stop the war between unicorns and wolves, in order to then stop the Second Despondent. However, she hears Specters in her mind, who tell her she is worthless and unimportant. It was quite an intriguing twist on depression. And as someone who has dealt with depression and anxiety, I was impressed with this display. Though I didn't necessarily enjoy the fact that she ended up being "cured" in the end, I also realized that Natalie Erin did save it by having a character explain that it will not always be easy.

This book was also so full of emotion and bloodshed. I mean, yea, there is a war going on. Technically two. But damn, so many good characters died. But hey, at least Nagli got to come back! I was happy about that but I really wanna know about the BOOM BOOM noises.

Can we please find out about that? Also, this crown is so much more important than I thought it was when they gained it in the first novel.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Oh I loved Midnightstar and Xiuh. The poor little ones are the very definition of being thrust into strange circumstances with strange companions and somehow surviving with a stronger bond than one would think possible. I feel bad for the things they go through to grow and become who and what they are meant to be but I love them as partners.

As for other characters I wanted to shelter little Adelaide the second she was introduced. Someone so sweet and innocent should be protected from the world. You cannot find anyone or anything that pure and it raised my maternal instincts by a million. And Dust, omg I just plain loved Dust. I enjoyed reading more about the unicorns as well, I have a great fondness for unicorns.

The plot continuation was great! it captured me from beginning to end and I honestly cannot wait for book six to come out so I can see who gets to have their happily ever after! Hopefully, for my sake, its everyone thats not totally evil. :)

Midnightstar overcame some obstacles to become the stargazer while the little dragon Xiul came her portal. The wolves and unicorns with help of the bloodlusters defeated the Ortusans.

I liked this book more than the last one and the story so far is great. I’m hoping the last book in the series is just as interesting.

Another war is about to go down in the Creatures of the Land between the last of the Land animals and Ortusans, with the Blood Bloodlusters thrown in the mix.
Unknown to MidnightStar she is the last stargazer and Xiuhcoatl is her portal dragon. Running with their friends they will race against time to find the fabled Assembly of animals. To try and stop the war of wolves versus unicorn which will kill them all in the end, if she doesnt get the help she desperately needs. But what they don't realize who they have in their mist would be who they need to stop the war.

With the fifth installment in the Creatures of the Lands books, the drama and action just keeps on coming. Midnightstar is effectively on her own, working in the background in order to save the entire world. While it was a big turn of events from the rest of the novels, this one having the focus solely on one of the animals rather than the people, it didn't lose any essence of what we know and love from the Creatures series. It was great to see things from another perspective and see how things all fall into place behind the scenes as another character does their part. Definitely another great addition to the series, and it just keeps driving the suspense and action forward, pushing you further and further until there's no escape from the series, even if the first book didn't have you hooked! Another amazing read from Natalie Erin!
