Because they are the next step in human evolution…
At Whitemarsh, a so called orphanage, Natalie was held and used for her psychic powers. But when the project was ordered shut down in one brutal night of murder, she had to run and hide or die at the hands of a killing team led by Gregor, a man more dangerous than all the children combined.
Living alone for ten years, she lay low, burying the skills she was prized for. But still they have found her. While she restrained her abilities, others learned and grew stronger, racing towards that final evolution. Now she must fight them to stay alive, to escape and find Michael.
Michael has cheated.
The natural leader of the children at Whitemarsh, his skills helped many escape the carnage of innocents. As they ran, he told the survivors to live low, live quiet, live long. In spite of this, he used his skills to live well. Will Natalie still love the man he has become, and can she convince Michael to help her unearth the truth about who they are and why they are but above all, to take on the forces gathering against them, together…
ESCAPE is the first book in the SUB C series, a paranormal thriller foretelling a fast approaching new world.
If you love incredible psychic powers, future dystopian, with a hint of romance, you’ll love Ray Ronan’s mind bending series.
Ray Ronan was born in Dublin Ireland. His chosen careers, professional cyclist, and now airline captain, have allowed him to travel to and live in cities all over the world.
Co-Author of non-fiction book Seconds To Disaster with thriller writer Glenn Meade, Ray has in recent years turned his attention to writing novels. More books with Glenn are in production.
He has recently signed with an Agent in New York to represent his thrillers to Publishers.
He continues to fly long haul which allows him the time to write, and explore...
An excellent start to this series. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I love the way this author writes and his story telling. It is all about the actual story building, the plot and the characters. No filling of repetitive words and sentences.
This is a paranormal / science fiction story but not completely over the top. It is fast paced and exciting. The characters are wonderful, the good and bad. I can't wait to read the second one in the series.
This was a free book, I am not sure if the author sent it for an honest review or if I downloaded it for free, either way, this was a great read and was more than a taster for what is to come. If you want to read something a little different and well written I would definitely recommend this book.
Michael & Natalie...Whitemarsh...children. Super powers? I'm still trying to figure out this book. Michael & Natalie are different. Their childhood consisted of living in an orphanage with other children who are special as they are. Someone decided they were not needed anymore. The plan was to destroy them all. But somehow they escaped. This is quite different than what I'm used to reading. Different in a good way. Once I started reading I couldn't stop until I finished. I'm glad authors have such diverse imaginations. Makes reading fun. Try this book if you want something different. I think you'll enjoy it.
I was given an advance copy of this book for review purposes. This was my first time reading one of Ray Ronan's stories. Ronan's been writing for a few years, mostly as a co-author in the genres of Thrillers, Nonfiction, Paranormal. For this series of books, he's writing on his own, and has at least five in the works. This is a paranormal thriller.
This book is not a full-sized novel, yet not as small as a novella. Personally, I think it's a good size for a thriller series. I enjoyed this book a lot. I like to read so I can relax before going to sleep. Usually I get in a chapter or two before I start taking long blinks, but I found myself wanting to read 'just one more chapter' of this one... and then it was 1:30am.
The book starts off full-tilt, and keeps the pace throughout the story. The author introduces the characters well, and does a great job in keeping the reader involved. Both Michael and Natalie's characters are thoughtfully developed. The antagonists have definite personalities, and the minor characters aren't just in the background. The plot is clear-cut, and you feel like you can empathize with the characters and what they're going through. You even feel like you could reach over and pet Rip, the dog. The story is short and to the point, without a whole bunch of 'other stuff' filling up the pages. I like that.
I think Ronan's writing style is very smooth. You don't feel like you're getting an over abundance of adjectives, yet the scenes are described so well you can easily picture them.
My only issue with the book was the last chapter. Not the ending, but how the chapter was written. The pace was off. I felt lost. It didn't feel like Ronan was writing it still. I don't know, maybe it's just me. It doesn't change my opinion of the book, however, or the fact that I want to keep reading the series.
For me, a book that I think about during the times I'm not reading it, is a good book. And that's exactly what Escape did. I couldn't wait to get back to the book. I look forward to the next installment in the Sub C series.
I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. You can find more of my book reviews on House-Wise.
Finally! I finished and found this to be a suspenseful, science fiction thriller with an excellent human touch. Brilliantly written with a clear thought process that keeps you guessing. Without any spoilers, this is definitely a must-read for any science fiction enthusiast.
