Robyn Kelly is my pen name. I work for one of the top boutique event planning companies in San Francisco, and I can’t risk having our clientele (or my boss) discover my passion for aggressive, sexual, alpha men.
Goodreads is a wonderful source of information as I am learning the craft. I especially enjoy browsing the Community Reviews of books I've just finished reading (and I admit, I'm not very good at updating my list here).
A special thanks to Linda — I don't know who you are, but you were kind enough to leave my first rating (and I always remember my first!)

This was my introduction to this author and was definitely one I am pleased to have made. This box set is brilliant and definitely a great blend of sexy and entertaining. I really enjoyed the entire read, and could not put these down.
I liked the take on the whole BDSM and Grey scene. This story showed us people who were from both sides, and looked at it in a very humorous, real and still very sexy way. We got to see real life taking place, with a plethora of disasters, people who just wouldn't do as they were told, drunken palaver and more. It all led to someone, namely the main character, being ready to call it quits, on everything. She lives a stressful and nonstop life, and still manages to remain above the water and happy, well until this night in question. I feel like a lot of us can relate to that, which really brings the story to a level we can all really connect with. Then we have the broody, dominant main man who lives up to his Grey likeness. The author made him somewhat relatable and still very much out of reach, well until he decides to approach you. I liked that, as it was still real, yet had a hint of being almost like a fantasy.
The story was told very well and kept me connected and very much enjoying it throughout the whole of the box set. I found myself really wanting to come home and find out exactly what was taking place between the two and where it would lead next. I felt the author did a great job at keeping it both exciting and detailed, throughout the books.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story, characters, detail and pacing of the books. I think it is a box set that a lot of people will enjoy, and likely be unable to put down!

Wow! This book was such a fun, hot, steamy, exciting read! I could not put this book down!
Miss Kelly’s writing style is superb! She wrote this book with such detail and precision, everything was so easy to picture - it was like a movie playing in my head. The pace of the book was steady and evenly flowed.
There are quite a few funny lines and witty banter that definitely had me giggling and let me tell you I was reading this book in public, but I could not keep it in! Gosh, what those people must have been thinking lol!
This book defines sexy and will definitely keep a smile glued on your face! Perhaps a few blushing moments that will make you cringe, but you won’t be able to look away.
I really liked the main characters, Jillian and Jackson. Both characters felt very true, realistic, and relatable. Jillian is an event planner with a struggling business. She is young, pretty, intelligent, and somewhat innocent, but not completely lol. Jackson is a sexy, rich, confident, CEO who is San Francisco’s most eligible bachelor. Jillian is about to throw in the towel and call it quits on her business. In fact, this party was going to be her last. When she then meets Jackson, in a very strange and funny way! She thinks he’s abducting a guest of the party! Yea, can you say awkward LOL!!
Jillian and Jackson both have some serious baggage and painful backgrounds. Their relationship isn’t all cupcakes and rainbows. Between coming from different worlds, their dark histories, and others trying to break them apart there is a lot of obstacles these two face and it will definitely take some work if they are going to make it.
I think you will probably be rooting for them or perhaps like me, secretly hoping it doesn’t work out so that I can date Jackson LOL!!!
Okay yes, there are some parallels to Fifty Shades of Grey – it’s even the theme of Jillian’s parties. And yes, there’s CEO/most eligible bachelor Jackson who resembles Christian and the innocent/naïve girl Jillian who kind of resembles Anastasia. Honestly, I like Jillian more than I liked Anastasia lol. But this book really is a different story and a different approach to the BDSM world. This book is a lighter take – still hot and steamy, but less graphic. Perhaps it’s even more enjoyable and still very realistic. Plus there is so much more comedy and laughing out loud scenes!
It may seem like this is a really long book, running at 392 pages. However, this book is a box set and therefore, it’s actually two books together. I actually finished this book over a weekend and even though I thought it would take longer to finish, the pages just flew right by.
I was thoroughly entertained by this book and would absolutely recommend it! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this one! I promise you won’t regret it!
This book strongly deserves all five stars and honestly, if I could I probably would have given it more!

“Best Laid Plans, Box Set” by Robyn Kelly features Jillian Whitkins who is about to give up on her event planning business that has capitalized on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” theme when she encounters San Francisco’s most eligible bachelor, Jackson Hunter, under less than ideal circumstances. She fascinates the dominant man by continually changing the rules of the lifestyle he is used to, and constantly surprising him. Their sizzling affair continues to amaze both of them, as they slowly reveal their secrets and their past pain, but the connection they form may not be enough to save their fragile relationship from the pressures exerted on it by others.
This is a fun and erotic contemporary story that plays with many of the elements popularized by the ‘Fifty Shades’ series. Although this is termed a ‘boxed set’, I would have been pretty frustrated to have only read a single story since I was hunting around looking for the next book when this set ended, as things were not tied up in a nice bow, and I mistakenly thought there was an additional story in the review set. One thinks that I would have realized that this too would emulate the other series, but I just wasn’t making that connection, lol.
I found the author’s style to be light and engaging, with a deft touch for blending wryly humorous situations and sizzlingly erotic scenes. I would almost term this BDSM-light, because many of the interactions play with elements of dominance and submission but leave an escape (in addition to a safeword) so there is no doubt that the activity is definitely consensual. This couple approaches life very differently yet they mesh so well, it’s amazing that the tragedies that have formed their characters have honed them into a puzzle piece that actually fits with someone else. I think that Jillian is a much more relatable character (I’m one of those who isn’t thrilled with Anastasia’s personality) because she combines naivete and snark and I was fascinated by the intensity provided by Jackson and touched by the struggle with his demons and shocked by the betrayal he has to deal with.
There are tons of laugh-out-loud scenes that entertain and balance the intense emotional elements and I am delighted to have found a new author to follow. I think this story will be enjoyed by those who like the idea of playing with BDSM as well as those who are entertained by the thought of a rich dominant man who has to be taught by a woman that not everything automatically will go his way, no matter how much money he has.

Jillian Whitkins a young woman who is just about ready to throw the towel on. Being an event planner is well she is managing a birthday party with 50 Shades of Gray theme and to make things lively its turning into a disaster. Jackson Hunter does not need more bad publicity so when Jillian take a picture of him with the unconscious ex sub girl friend, well he takes her cell phone and soon find oust that Jillian is not so easy to get rid off. What follows is quite a story or adventure that can make you laugh out loud and then cringe a few pages later. What will happen, well read it to find out, It's a fun story and if you Liked 50 Shades fo Gray am pretty sure you will love this book.
Jillian Whitkins who is an event planner has a big job ahead of her for planning a upcoming event for millionaire Jackson Hunter. Neither 1 of them has an idea about each other’s past. Instead of using 50 Shades of Grey theme I would have liked to see you develop your own theme. I saw the movie wasn’t that great & I will read the book that I have on PDF.
Warning: This book contains extremely graphic adult content, violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive to some readers.
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written BDSM erotic book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great BDSM erotic movie, or paid-per-view mini TV series. BDSM is defiantly & never will be my thing. Still otherwise steamy hot in places. For that reason, (theme) I will only rate it at 4/5 stars.
Thank you for the free Goodreads; Autographed; paperback book Tony Parsons MSW (Washburn)
Wow, what a Love Story (for starters), luckily it will continue in "Best Laid Hopes"!!! Jillian & Jackson's personalities are very volatile, typical of a couple with two strong personalities. Had I read "Fifty Shades of Gray" I would have understood the party planning conversations better... But all in all a Good Book!
I couldn't stop laughing. This Book is a little like 50 shades of grey, it has every thing you would want in a romance story great sex , a book you can't put down. I felt I was watching a movie. If I could rate it a 10 I would have . the main couple jackson and Jillian have such a dry sence of humor , they both had me laughing out loud.
**I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review**
The cover does not do this book justice! There’s a scene that correlates to broken champagne flutes, but a sexy lady bent over the leg of a Christian Grey lookalike would’ve been a more accurate portrayal of what readers should expect
I received this book through goodreads giveaways for an honest review.
I really enjoyed Best Laid Plans. I liked the writing, the character development and the story. The only thing that would have made it better would be to have some of the story in Jackson's point of view.
I am not completely sure how I feel about this book. There were times I thought It was a cute, if not intense, love story. I had a problem warming up to Jackson. Jillian was very needy. Together there were just too many mind games. It never felt like they weren't over thinking. All and all it was a really good story. I just as some problems with him taking advantage of her. All she was concerned with was pleasing him. I kept waiting for him to say I love you. Jillian seemed to be waiting for some sign from jackson, That he felt more for her then his many other subs. It felt like two very needy people, not ready to admit their needs to each other.
Shades of 50 Shades of Grey but with much more humor and a little less Dom and Sub. Not to say these two books are not filled with sex galore and when Jillian and Jackson are engaged in passion, they are in heaven. But Jillian has more baggage than Ana, while Jackson is every bit as dark as Christian, Jackson is not as forceful in his dominance. Not HEA yet. Can't wait to read Best Laid Hopes.
While spunk is sometimes used in a derogatory way Spunky means fun to me. Jillian is irreverent and spunky. She has a problem with filtering her thoughts before she speaks. I love her attitude. Jackson is not immune to her. These books are full of catchy phrases and hot interactions. Great humor, saucy repartee, and implied love. Don't read this at work. The grin you wear as you read it may tell others what you are hoping to get when you get home.
Fantastic book set. Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I loved these 2 books from start to finish. Couldn't put them down. There are 2 more in the series. Waiting for the last 2 to be either free or 99 cents. Other than that I have to wait. Very good read...
I enjoyed Jillian & Jackson's story. Great box set. This was a really fun book. Loved the BDSM & Grey thing. I'm voluntarily leaving a review for a copy of the book.
Well to start with you have a widower Jillian who is a event planner but this will be her last fifty shades event as she is struggling with the business so she will be jobless at the end of the night.
After throwing the event for someone she actually meets a handsome stranger but it looks as if he is kidnapping a woman so she tries to stop him and takes a picture of him suspecting that the police will want to know who he is.
Jackson is a CEO and is very held up in the past he doesn't say sorry thank you or please he is very confident in himself and he is very much a alpha male the only problem is when he keeps all of his secrets close to his chest it makes him lose his cool. He gives Jillian lessons in being the perfect sub.
I will say that this book had me hooked and the way that the author has brought Jillian and Jackson together works really well but the one thing that did confuse me was the box set is all one book there is nothing to say when book 2 starts so it baffled me.
I will give this book 4/5 and hope that I get a chance to read book 3 and review it.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
Remember how I said that I wouldn’t review a BDSM book on the blog again? Remember how I never read FSOG or even seen the movies? Remember me telling you that FSOG RUINED the sub-genre for me? Well, this book has made me see the whole sub-genre in a different light. Why? Because the BDSM in the book is light (nothing you haven’t read before and it’s not graphic) and the main focus of the book is the romantic comedy. Oh yes, romantic comedy. There were times that I was laughing my rear off at Jillian and Jackson.
This book could easily be put into the category romance but with the elements of BDSM AND comedy, it just simply doesn’t fit. It fits into its own category. Don’t get me wrong about the BDSM elements. I’m not making light of them at all. In fact, I thought those parts of the book were very well written with a dash of humor that puts the reader at ease with them. Jillian is a sub in the bedroom but a Dominant everywhere else. Jackson is a Dominant through and through and has never met anyone like Jillian before. We get a glimpse of his latest sub in the beginning of the book and it is not pretty. In fact, Ms. It (as Jillian calls her) makes Jackson realize that he truly wants a relationship with Jillian beyond the bedroom.
Jillian isn’t an innocent when it comes to BDSM. With all of her FSOG themed parties, she knows the when, why and hows and who to call for things but it is all clinical to her. She’s never experienced it herself and that’s what Jackson is for. But their relationship is much deeper than that. Trust me. And that’s one of the biggest issues that this couple has. Trust issues. Her’s come from an alcoholic dead husband and mother. His comes from being in jail and foster care. In fact, the big black moment in the book comes from a confession from his mother and it’s painful to read but it explains so much of how Jackson is and the man that doesn’t want to be to Jillian.
Usually, in BDSM books, the Dom is an Alpha*ole but Jackson isn’t. Sure he is firm with Jillian but Jillian makes him human. It’s hard NOT to fall in love with him. He’s all bark and not bite. In fact, Jillian has a nickname at the office called The Lion Tamer. Trust me, the scenes at work are hilarious. If I had one complaint is the amount of clothing that is ripped in the book. I can’t imagine wearing expensive stuff and having it ripped off all the time but hey, that’s just me. But it works in the book and their relationship.
Since our author lives in Frisco, she name drops all the fab locations, restaurants and the like. I really felt like I was on a tour at times. She also writes a tightly woven tale of romance that really sneaks up on you in the end. The pacing is fast and the sex is hot. But underneath it all is a great book with terrific characters that I cared about, want to read more about and swooned over in the end.
Right now as I’m typing this I’m reading the last book in the trilogy. Yes, there is the 3rd book. I knew that I just HAD to find out how their relationship plays out with the HEA. I’m not sure if I will finish it before this blog goes live. I’m trying, really trying.
