I began the journey of re-reading this series as a teenager over a month ago. (I read other books in between, guys.) The goal was to see if the “Crime Travelers” series was as good as I remembered. After successes in the first two books, I was a little nervous for “Priceless.” As it turns out, I shouldn’t have been worried.
“Priceless” is just like the other two: written for elementary kids about a non-elementary topic, nonchalantly dropping crazy one-liners at an alarmingly fast pace. So… it was good.
Out of all three books, this one suffered the most from the quick pacing. Jumping from location to location got quite confusing this time around, and I found myself forgetting where the characters were or what they were doing. The epilogue also felt rushed, but that wasn’t the biggest deal in terms of pacing.
There wasn’t much character arc here, but the ultimate lesson about the value of human life is profound enough to make up for it.
I’d give this book a 2.75 rating instead of 3, purely because of the pacing issues. But regardless, this series is a great recommendation for kids who love action and can understand some more complex topics. I enjoyed every moment of this re-read.

Better than before
The book was really good it was surprisingly better than the first book. most of the books that I read the first book is the best, but still Spy School is my favorite series.

This is a story that really takes you somewhere. The whole series is a total blast, moving from adventure to adventure. Exactly what I needed right now.

Loved pacing of this book - knew right away what Lucas's mission entailed. Amazing dialogue for middle grade - authentic and funny. Loved the international aspects, learned so much without it ever seeming forced. Great middle grade read. Could see this as a movie for that age group.
