I am a wife and mother of two girls, Cassie and Allie. I live in Minnesota and, yes, our winters are legendary! I believe this has a lot to do with my passion for reading and writing, which is something I'd like to make a full time career of sometime in the future. Right now my days are filled with chasing after children in my daycare but at night I chase after my dreams of becoming a popular writer. Most of my books are written with young adults in mind but I am ecstatic when I hear that readers of all ages enjoy them. It's a great motivator and pushes me to keep writing, even when I'm exhausted from wiping noses all day long!
Billionaire at Sea is actually a moderate good book. This is my first read by Miss Moddleton. The story has so much potential.
I was not expecting much from this book. I just picked it up on my ever growing TBR. I think I got this book during free promotion or something. But I forget what promotion.
Overall an OK book. Have so much potential to be better.
3 words, I HATE CLIFFHANGERS! With that said, this was a really great read I thoroughly enjoyed. I love an amazon freebie that promises everything it offers, and Billionaire At Sea gave me everything, including angry faces when I realised it now desperately need book 2, when I already have my next book ready to go. Such 1st world problems, book 2 will now be next on my TBR list.
When retired baseball player and billionaire, Damien Stryker hires Mia and Ridley to cater a bucks party weekend at sea, he didn’t anticipate the feelings he would have towards gorgeous brunette, their chemistry is full on from that 1st moment, but his history with his cheating ex wife has him wanting to back off, but unable to remove her from his head.
Mia has had a tough last year, after catching her cheating ex fiancée with a stripper, she has become the closet cat lady, a home body. Something she knows she shouldn’t be, but what John did messed with her head and heart, and she struggles to get over it. His constant calls and texts to take him back don’t help either. Until she meets Damien, and the sparks fly. Preferring to ignore those sparks, she pushes him away. No mixing business and pleasure. Yeah ok.... not a couple of hours later those lines are already starting to blur.
While catering a weekend away on a luxury ship Mia doesn’t have time for distractions, a boat full of horny men will keep her crazy busy, but Damien has other plans, it isn’t long until he gets his perfect Mia. Going with the flow, Mia enjoys her time with Damien, but knows it’s a quick fling she tries to push away from him. But with the what’s about to happen to Damien, everything is about to change...
I liked the premise but the writing was stilted. It was a lot of he said this/she said that instead of being able to write in such a way that you know who's talking.
Also, there was something thrown in at the end that to me just kind of came out of nowhere. Then it ended. I think it was supposed to be a cliffhanger to make us want to get the next book but I really don't have any interest in doing that. I may do it if I need water on the cover or a blue book for something but that's it.
Ok I am going to step away from my usual review style and just let loose with my emotions!
I love and hate this book, I love this book because lets be real we all want to see the woman that was wronged before get with the good dude now, But then I hate it because it shows such an air of low self confidence for the woman and although it may be realistic I HATE IT!
Ridley ( can I express now how cool I think her name is, if I wasn't stuck on all J-names, It would be in the running for my next kid) seems like a really cool chic who is all down for her best friend. But as soon as her over controlling, jealous little boy of a beau puts her hands on her she pretty much shuts down and think that everything is now her fault!!! WAIT WHAT! No NO NO NONO.. I need you to get your back bone back and know that it was he who was in the wrong! So now you don't want to get close to anyone on the ship! I think Marshall is exactly who you need to rebound with!
Then you have Mia who is still hung up on her ex and not in the sense that she wants him back more in the sense that she now can't trust anyone to make her happy and Damien isn't making this any easier. First he is all hey I only do one night stands, then its wow, your the best thing ever since sliced bread, then its oh lets not tell anyone... Like DUDE for real make up your mind!
This book did end in a cliffhanger but it was just so Abrupt for me like there was no lead into the cliffhanger just pow book over. I will read the next one though so I am sure that the cliffhanger did its job..lol

Mia and her best friend Ridley, gourmet chefs are hired by billionaire Damian Stryker to cater on his yacht for his friend's bachelor party. Mia is apprehensive at first and doesn't want to do this job especially after her ex cheated on her at his bachelor party. But after meeting Damian She warms to the idea and agrees to take the job. What could be more exciting than catering for their biggest job on a yacht for a few days?
Even before the yacht sets sail the sparks between Damian and Mia are flying and the two of them end up in bed... things are steamy and intriguing but that doesn't stop the cliff hanger of an ending that could end the party before it begins.
I enjoyed this story, although it's too short. I prefer lengthier reads but this was good, characters were interesting and the plot was predictable but good. Yes, I would recommend this book.
This was the first book that I've read by this author and I have to say I really enjoyed it. There was just the right amount of romance, twist and turns, to keep me hooked. I liked the characters, the story, and the setting. This book ended on a cliffhanger, ending in a direction I didn't see coming. I look forward to starting book 2.
Another great series I've just gotten myself into by an Author that made my favorite authors list. Love the storyline and the characters (no spoilers) great drama, beautiful women, hot men and a kidnapping such intrigue, can't wait for next book. Definitely recommended this book.
When Mia James the catering chef is hired to cater a high-profile bachelor party in the Caribbean with her friend Ridley who is also partner in the business, she is reluctant to do it, but needs the money for survival of the firm . Then she meets Damian Stryker, the handsome, rich billionaire whose hired them, and finds herself trying to fight the attraction she has for the self-proclaimed playboy. She had bad break-up with her last boyfriend who physically abuse her in drunkardness and won't think of going back if we wasn't promise her to go for detox and therapy. She also got warned from Damian attorney which might be rumours.
Damian Stryker , after being forced into early retirement, professional baseball pitcher and divorcee and a father to a kid with now a dysfunctional family, he takes advantage of his recent inheritance and hosts a bachelor party on his million-dollar yacht. Meanwhile, he finds himself wanting to be around Mia James' cooking, and his extended feeling of affection towards her and things heat up quickly between the two.
It seems like the perfect weekend until his world comes crashing down on him when he got a ransom call from a kidnapper who kidnapped his child and now things aren't same as story close with cliffhanger what happened next will be in the book I eagerly gonna read right away.
I can understand the need to write a cliffhanger series and, if done properly, I can see how successful and endearing the characters would be to the reader. Some of the best movie sequels were because of the previous cliffhanger.
This story fails to capture my heart as a better-written romance would and the cliffhanger was not really unexpected but I personally like to have my books well-rounded and tidy especially at the end. Why not simply introduce an existing character into a new book and lead them into romance instead? This one reads like the men have girl-reactions instead of men-reactions and it's one big drama party.
The 3 elements of "mystery" situations are predictable and the hero's reaction seems rather dense to at least one of them. (why can't he tell his ex that his actions are none of her business? They're obviously not friends, after all.)
The emotions are all over the place - undecided/decided/horny/maybe/undecided/protective/ok-have-it-your-way/horny/evasive/undecided/shocked/horny/maybe/secretive/abusive/let-that-go-for-now/ - it just goes on from there.
I really wanted to like it but I just didn't like this one. The 2nd star was for the yacht which I found very interesting.

I got this for free in the "One Night" book set on Amazon. I believe the book has both #1 and #2 in it, given the description of the two books but it doesn't separate the two books in this edition. The story doesn't end on a cliffhanger this way, as a lot of reviews complain about.
The two books (or one book as a whole as I read it) feels like two different genres. The first reads a lot like a romance and the second reads more like an action plot. None of this was what I was expecting upon going into this story. I thought I was getting a quick spicy romance.
The characters were typical, the sex basic, and the action plot came out of left field but weirdly saved the novel from being mid (now I actually have a reason to complain).
Oh boy did this turn terrible. It starts off ok ish. Then gets not so great, then gets worse. The writing and story is underdeveloped. And really basic. It’s not typos but a lack of fluidity at times and just an awkwardness to the story. I thought it was going to be a typical billionaire romance but it doesn’t have much romance. Even the sex scenes weren’t very good.then the story develops into a crazy kidnapping, ransom, death threat type thing. It was quite insane. And the “Asshole 2” twist was stupid. The reasoning behind it was stupid and the suicide made no sense. I stuck it out, but honestly just wished I quit, it wasn’t worth reading until the end. At least it was free.
cliffhanger - but oh, what a ride! Mia and Damien have instant chemistry. I love all the back ground info we get on not only Mia and Damien but most all the characters who give us any number of who could be causing all the trouble on the high sea's? I also like how Mia and Damien seem to have their lives pretty much in order although they do have some insecurities that creep up. Anyway, super excited to read / listen to book 2
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review *this review is based on the audio version of this read
It was an intriguing plot once the action started. I did not like all the back and forth between so many characters. One or two lead characters voices is okay, you lose interest the more it jumps around. I would definitely advise to figure out a wy to move your plot forward with out so many character jumps. The two lead characters are a good match, I do think they jumped in too soon too quick. So it was a little rough to go from the development of two characters falling for each other to then an action plot of kidnapping and such.
Billionaire at Sea was a great read!! I'm really not into love storied, but this book was exceptionally good!! Mia and her best friend, Ridley have a catering business and Mia's brother hooks them up with an Ex-baseball player, giving his friend a bachelor party on his yacht. The ending to book 1 will have you running to Amazon for book 2!!
What a waste of time. There should be someway to let you know before you start reading that this is a cliffhanger, How I hate cliffhangers. If this author thinks I am going to buy the next book to find out what happened, he/she is sadly mistaken. Obviously this author does not think they are a good enough writer that anyone would buy their next book unless they make this one a cliffhanger. What a way to sell your books. PATHETIC!!
I really liked this book but I hate that you are forced to buy the next book to actually see how the story ends. And in a way, the ending is a major plot twist anyway. I will now go and read the next book but I would rather read it as one book with a proper ending.
This book has a cliffhanger, I did not see that one coming, but I have to read on to see how it all works out. Yes Mia and Damien has an instant attraction but will that be enough
I wasn’t sure what to think but man am I glad I read this book. I honestly couldn’t put it down until I finished . Now on to book 2. I have absolutely enjoyed reading this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very last. It has been a very rare occurrence that I could just pick up a book and read it in one day; but, I was captivated by these characters and their amazing love story instantaneously.
I will say this is the first time I wasn't up set about a cliff hanger I wasn't ready to put this one down. The writing was smooth, sex scenes not over done and did not see the cliff hanger coming. On to the next one.
I loved it! I had to buy the second book to find out what happened! Awesome story! I really loved Mia and Ridley! Strong women that stick up for themselves!
Ah it was okay. Finally sat down to read it since I didn’t have anything else around. But of course now I have to read the second one to find out what happens.
