I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis. If you've read any of my books you'll see there is often a reference to said movies as a small homage to my upbringing. May the force be with you and all that jazz.
I started writing when I realized I didn't want to grow up not believing in magic, or not believing in creatures everyone else said didn't exist. That being said, I have never seen a fairy, unicorn or dragon. I had a neighbour who swore they fed the leprechauns in their garden, but I never caught the little buggers no matter how long I lay in wait. (And consequently had to help the neighbours plant new flowers to replace those I killed waiting for the leprechauns to show their faces.)
Along the way, I found my husband who is the rock that keeps me from floating away into my dreams, and we have a little boy who is the centre of our world. Living on a farm keeps us busy (as if the writing wasn't enough) and I have more than my share of stories about wrestling with cows, helping birth calves and ending up in the creek during the process, falling in the mud (we'll call it mud but we all know that on a farm, mud is rarely mud) and chasing escaped livestock in the hopes the four legged convicts don't make it to the highway.
I've taken up archery, and the goal is to move into horseback archery in time (you know, when I can hit the target on a consistent basis) and when no one is looking, I love to bake (this doesn't happen often as it's hard to keep the sweet treats in stock with two boys in the house.)
As to what's coming next for me? More stories (since those never stop inside my head, I might as well share them with all of you!) and more adventures. Pretty much, when the fancy strikes, I'll jump on it. Leap before you look I'm sure that motto was created for me.
Or was that . . . think big and dream bigger, ready, set, pull the trigger . . . yeah. That one is a good one too. But only if you have a gun. And are hunting elephants. Which is not cool because of so many reasons. Let's stick with the first one with an addendum.
Leap before you look and let your dreams carry you on their wings. And that, my friends, is me in a nutshell.

**4 Nevermore Stars**
This one lost the lack luster of the book before. It tended to slow down but then hurried up and tried to fit the ending in quickly.
I also think the ending could have included an epilogue to find out what happened a few months after. I almost felt like I was left hanging.

I didn’t read the original version of this trilogy, so I can’t give an opinion as to whether the tweaks are an improvement, but what I can say is that I loved Shannon Mayer’s THE NEVERMORE TRILOGY! It’s a pseudo zombie story that follows a couple who’s love overcomes insurmountable odds. It’s corny, and does require a bit of a leap vis-à-vis why only Mara & Bastian’s connection trumps all where as other twosomes “turn”. But, it’s written in such a way that it’s next to impossible to put down, and makes you want to believe in unicorns.
In the conclusion to this trilogy, the duo begins their upward climb out of Hell, but before that trek can get rolling they have several final obstacles to beat. A bit of a role reversal happens in that Mara has become the rock, and Bastian needs all her strength to give one last push for survival. Three big losses occur in this finale that were devastating however, eventually those that are left standing do get their happily-ever-after. These books will make you think about what lengths you will go to to keep on breathing, and the sacrifices you’d be willing to make for the ones you love.

Writing this final book was at times, heartbreaking even for me, knowing what was coming. What characters would make it, who would have to say goodbye and how I wrapped it all up I knew would make the difference between an ok book and a book that people wouldn't forget.
Thank you for following Mara and Sebastian through this journey of theirs. It has been an awesome ride for me, one that was unexpected and more fun than I could have imagined. I think that you will all be surprised by how their story turns out. I know that you are on the edge of your seat, so go on now, get reading!

I was provided an ARC of Dauntless in exchange for an honest review.
The third and final installment, of The Nevermore Trilogy, wraps up the series in a tightly wrapped bow. Some people may appreciate this, but to me it felt forced. The characters didn’t evolve organically. Bob the bear is a perfect example. I didn’t read the original Nevermore Trilogy so I cannot compare it to the anniversary edition. I do like that we got dual POV. However, with this book I got turned around in the chapters on who POV I was in a few times. Yet, even with that I still enjoyed the story and especially Mara.
Mara turned out to be a pretty kick ass chick in her own right, even though she was a bit too weepy for my taste. She fought to keep Sebastian with her through insurmountable odds. Love and family is what drove her and kept her strong while the world fell apart around her. She could “see past the monster to the man underneath”. She was an amazing woman. But of course, this is Shannon and she only writes Amazing women.
One point of contention I had, was the ending. Yes, I understand this is fiction, and the author is free to write the world however they wish. But when it is so far off base and in contrast to the rest of their world it doesn’t fit. There is no way in my mind Mara and Sebastian could have the ending they did, in the world Shannon created. It was just didn’t jive. Don’t get me wrong I liked it and it was ideal, it just didn’t fit.
Overall I liked and enjoyed the third installment of The Nevermore Trilogy just not as much as the other two. I am giving it 3 Boundless stars....Sara

After reading the first two books in Shannon Mayer's Nevermore Series, I was excited to read Dauntless. I couldn't wait to find out what she had lined up for Mara and Sebastian next.
Ms. Mayer didn't disappoint. The book was filled with action and a forward momentum that kept me up last night trying to finish it.
The characters remained well developed as did the plot.
The book was a great ending to The Nevermore Series.

This would be a pretty good novella if indeed it were a novella. Instead it is one novel arbitrarily cut into thirds. These are not stand alone books. I want to downgrade it because of what I consider a rather unkind marketing ploy, but if I judge it according to quality of writing and story, I have to give it a 5-star rating. Warning: this third part was harder to read than the other parts since many of the characters met an ugly end, but that is pretty much expected in this genre.

Super ending! Not everybody made it but that was to be expected. Thank you Mrs. Mayer for making Mara and Sebastian's love so strong and unconditional! Looking back this was a great read, I liked a lot.

I blew through this entire trilogy in one day. This installment was just as good, if not better than the other two. It was action packed, fast paced and even though we lost some beloved characters, I was happy with the ending.

A really interesting take on a post-apocalyptic world without zombies or flesh eating bacteria! I absolutely love the author and have a great time with all her books but this trilogy was certainly something special. I read all three in quick succession and didn't want to stop, they were super gripping. Great read!

Can’t believe I’ve just found this series after reading so many of Shannon Mayer’s other series! Considering what is going on in the real world with COVID-19 and vaccines Etc this story freaked me out a little, obviously not to much though because I devoured all 3 books in 3 days and would gladly read a fourth about Gran!

Dauntless is the third book of Shannon Mayer's Nevermore trilogy, a Zombie-ish Apocalypse novella series.
In this final installment, be prepared for death to come knocking, as the apocalypse and monsters stretch the bonds of love and friendship, demanding a reckoning of those who are willing to do what they must to survive.
When "I Am Legend" meets "Resident Evil," the Nevermores in this trilogy are similar to the "vampires" in I Am Legend with their feral pack mentality, and the cause of the change in humans is because of a supposed cure-all drug, similar to the toxin in Resident Evil. The Nevermores aren't quite zombies, in that they aren't dead, but they will eat anything and everything.
Minor spoilers:
Dauntless picks up after Bound, continuing Mara's and Sebastian's story of love and survival even when everything on the planet is stacked against you. It begins in the mad scientist's compound, follows their escape, and Mara's struggle to fight for Sebastian and their child, even when he doesn't want to continue on. Did Donovan's cure work? For a good amount of time, Sebastian is sick as hell and on the verge of death. Throughout the trilogy, Mara makes some pretty stupid decisions, which someone points out to her, and yet, she somehow manages to make it. How, we'll never quite know.

Scout, Mara's loyal Nevermore, returns to help and in the end, gives his life to save his alphas' lives. He was a very likeable character; one that was written well enough to be remembered for a long time.
The trilogy is essentially one book split into three. There is also a short story, first published in Forever Nocturne e-zine, that goes with the trilogy, centered on two other characters. The entire Nevermore trilogy is a quick and easy read, though it could have used a better copyedit. Some of the mistakes were a little distracting, but the average reader likely won't notice most of them.
Dauntless was definitely the "love will conquer all" happy ending. I won't, however, tell you where they're heading or the surprise that waits.

Dauntless the third and last book in the Nevermore trilogy picks up where Bound the second book in the series left off as Bound did with Sundered the first book. Mara has learned of a cure for the Nevermore virus. She escapes from the army facility with Sebastian in tow of course. Mara would never leave the one she loves behind at least not with the knowledge that there actually maybe a cure. A cure that could give her life back with the one she loves or give him back his life.
After being given the cure for the Nevermore virus Sebastian goes through a very bad time running fevers and being out of it most of the time. Well as out of it as a Nevermore can be. Mara is very afraid at times wondering if Sebastian will make it or not. When she learns all the secrets of the compound and the man in charge of the compound she know that she has to get herself Sebastian and their unborn child away from there.
She then leans of a safe place that she can go and take her family and be safe. Although she is not sure that she can get Sebastian through but she has to she has to find away. She has no other choice because she will not leave the love of her life. If they won't let him through being a Nevermore she will not go either. Can Mara pull it off? Can she get Sebastian through? Can she pass him off as human?
I loved reading the Nevermore trilogy but I would have loved to know more about Sebastian, Mara and their child. I really hope that Shannon Mayer has more in store for the Nevermore trilogy like a spin-off because I would like to know more like: Is their child a Nevermore? Would their child be half human/half nevermore? Would their child act like the nevermores or humans? If their child was more nevermore than human what would that be like? How would Mara and Sebastian handle it? Will Sebastian be human again? Will Sebastian act human or nevermore?

I was anxious when I started reading DAUNTLESS. I really enjoyed SUNDERED, but couldn't get into BOUND so I wasn't sure what DAUNTLESS was going to bring.
For the most part, I enjoyed DAUNTLESS almost as much as I enjoyed book one. There is a lot of action and suspense involved in Mara and Sebastian's journey to safety and it was nice to have an old ally along for the ride. With Sepastian having had the cure and converting back towards the side of human, the lovey scenes were easier to take. Things definitely got interesting when it came to the Nevermore though now that he isn't really one of them anymore.
Not everyone makes it to the end of DAUNTLESS, but I expected that. What I didn't expect was the way some of them were lost. I don't want to go into it due to spoilers, but one death in particular really bothered me. I love this series! Great twist on the whole zombie apocalypse story. I actually enjoyed this version way more than the usual fare which is a big deal for me since the whole zombie thing isn’t really my thing. Definitely recommend and totally worth the read!

As Mara watches, Donovan loses his mind and Bastian might not pull through the experimental cure that he has been given. Either way, time has run out and she must grab the drug and get him out of the building. The staff are escaping and Marks has attacked the building to help buy them time. It looks like the cure might be working but Bastian will no longer be able to control Scout and the others.
This was a bit of a mixed read for me. There were good things like the consequences of Bastian's cure-no longer being one of the monsters means that he is no longer their leader and cannot protect Mara from them now. Only Scout seems to want to stay loyal to them.
However, I was seriously unhappy about what they forced Scout to do. They could have given him the cure instead! That's the thanks that he gets for all of his loyalty through the series. Nice. I really got annoyed with the new Bastian. Mara fought tooth and nail to keep him alive, doing whatever it took to save him from people who wanted to hurt hi. She rescues him and he decides he just wants to give up and kill himself? He wasn't willing to fight for her the way she fought for him which made him a real monster to me! I was also annoyed by how pointless the wholeof the Jessica plot was. Another one who could have had redemption and I was very disappointed by how her story turned out.
It was a decent read but could have been so much better. Neither of the sequels matched up to the first book.

She rescues him and he decides he just wants to give up and kill himself? He wasn't willing to fight for her the way she fought for him which made him a real monster to me! I was also annoyed by how pointless the wholeof the Jessica plot was. Another one who could have had redemption and I was very disappointed by how her story turned out.
It was a decent read but could have been so much better. Neither of the sequels matched up to the first book.

The final book in the Nevermore Trilogy.
I really enjoyed this series. It was a very quick read, I read the entire series over 2 days.
I really liked the connection between Sebastian and Mara. In my previous reviews I felt the romance between them was a little much and could have been, at least a little, more subtle. I still feel that way but it wasn't overwhelming and didn't really distract from the overall story.
The relationship develops over the course of events. They start out with Sebastian seeming stronger and Mara being somewhat fragile. Mara has to become stronger to survive as circumstances unfold. At a certain point their rolls have reversed and Mara is the one helping Sebastian through as he struggles physically and emotionally. By the end they have become a true partnership supporting each other as needed.
The Nevermore mythology is really good too. I loved the way they were similar to a wolf pack. The fact that they were evolving made things more tense and added to the story.
There were lots of twists and turns and plenty of action.
If you are looking for a hardcore zombie story you may be disappointed. However, if you let the story develop and enjoy the world and creatures as they are you will be treated to a great story and a new take on a "zombie" type virus.

I read this in one day because I wanted to know what would happen to Mara and Sebastian. There were a few less surprises in this one. I suspected what was going on with the multiple limbs with Mara's pregnancy. There were characters that I cared about who died, more than in the previous books.
The story was a good one and held my interest. Sadly, the number of deaths weighed on my enjoyment. Worse, the ending was rushed and just stopped, leaving me feeling that it needed a sequel, one that doesn't exist and isn't planned.
Am I glad I read it? Yes. I wish it had one last chapter that started, "Ten years later," and truly finished the story. I think fans of the series will enjoy his book. If you are thinking about the series, definitely start with the first book, Sundered. By the criteria of Goodreads, I "liked" it, thus the three stars.

If I ever need help. I will surely call Mara to help.
She is like a badass but not really because all she is trying to do is save herself, her husband, and child.
Like Bound, Dauntless starts where Bound left off.
I am in love with this trilogy, thanks to Shannon for making this.
I am satisfied with the way it ended, but it does kind of leave in opening to a novella or future-take. I wouldn't necessarily say another book because I don't really know what she could do to start another story without a conflict.
But who knows? She might.

Amazing!
Well I downloaded this not reading to much about what it was ,I read all 3 books in 2 days,Now mind we are in the middle of a pandemic and they have just come out with a vaccine which I am not willing to use try yet,then I start reading the first book and I'm hooked on Sebastian and mara , this is an amazing story of a miracle drug,that turns out so wrong because of greedy corporations and shortcuts taken. Their story is about love and survival in a world turned primitive where only the strong survive against the non humans called evermore,our pandemic is a walk i n the park compared to what happens in this story by the end of the trilogy ,I still don't trust my government vaccine .

I'm thoroughly addicted to the world of the Nevermores. Beautifully told- a mix of the apocalyptic world after the Nevermore shot, the struggle to keep going among the survivors, the struggle to keep some small part of humanity among a few of the Nevermores, and above all, the love between Mara and Sebastian. Several scenes brought tears to my eyes, crying along with Mara as she parted with those you hoped would be there until the bitter end. The author left the series open for continuation- and I greatly hope she decides to return to the tale in the future. After all, the story isn't wrapped up. Another 5 stars to this brilliant author. Kudos, ma'am, for another winner.

What an amazing ending to an amazing series. I would recommend these books to anyone. Whether or not zombie stories are your first choice, there is a type of strength, will to survive and love in these characters that anyone would be easily drawn into.
The story keeps you at the edge of your seat and you can't wait to find out what happens next. Every time a chapter ended I had to keep going. In a world such as that of the Nevermores no one is safe, and the author shows that. But despite the death of some you don't want to see die, there is still an ending that would satisfy any reader.

You Must read these books in order! If you have not read Sundered: The Nevermore Trilogy Book 1 (A Romantic Suspense) and Bound: The Nevermore Trilogy Book 2 (A Romantic Suspense) go nack and read them first... in order!!!
I really liked this conclusion to the trilogy but I wish it had been longer :( An actual epilogue would have been nice also but as there is none it leaves the series open for another sequel series if the author decides to write one :) I have to say that any young adult could read this book because it is a lot tamer than the others. I am sad to see the end of this series but it was well worth reading :)

Loved this book and those series!
As Nevermores grew smarter, so our heroes grew braver and more resourceful. Mara and Sebastian had certainly won my heart with their beautiful love and loyalty to each other. I kept turning pages, finishing this read in one evening.
I love the way this story flowed, with just the right amount of action to keep the reader on edge, and the perfect amount of love and humanity, even for the Nevermores.
This last book in the series wraps the whole story most nicely and believably.
I’m most certain to pick more of this author’s works.

This 3 book series was a nice change of pace for me. I typically read a lot of romance novels and this book was different. It's a love story all twisted up into a world of zombie-ish monsters. I have already recommended this series to a few of my friends. It's a different twist from the typical love story and the characters are ones you won't forget. You will even be surprised by some of the characters that you will fall in love with. It's and easy and fun read if you're looking for something a little different.

It has been awhile since I read the series, but I liked it a lot. It was fast paced and didn't get bogged down in social criticism, as it could have. One of my favorite characters didn't make it, but I respected the way that he died, though it still made me sad.
It was an interesting take on how society will do anything to lose weight, regardless of the consequences. The story line was unique and refreshing, especially since the subject of "zombies" has been written about in various ways. I would definitely recommend the series.

A stellar finish--too bad it is over!
Loved the last book in the Nevermore Trilogy! Exciting and suspenseful to the end. I can’t recommend this trilogy enough but remember, it is a trilogy. Start from the beginning not only because it will make more sense but because you will not want to miss one word from this incredible author. Oh, and download them all at the same time. You won’t want to wait the couple minutes it will take Amazon to deliver the next book before can you start reading!

GREAT READ
Chose this series because I like Shannon Mayer's style of writing. She really knows how to develop a storyline.
So many writers today seem to write to "fill up a words per page goal " which leaves a reader with fiction that has length, but no depth- yes the pun was intended.

Unsure to the last
Happy ending but damn if she didn't throw every possible wrench into the works at every opportunity. It was good, but not as good as the first one. Probably wouldn't read this series again, though I absolutely would with some of her other series'. This being her first published works, know that the books only get better from here!

A good book for the end of the trilogy. However, it was my least favorite of the three. I just never really got into it like I did the first two. Maybe because the escapes in this book were just too much to take compared to the first two books.
But a great trilogy, nonetheless.

Once again I really enjoyed this book. I wanted to keep reading and put it Down and go to sleep! It was a great ending to the trilogy. Really liked this series and her writing. Will look into more from this author!
