This book was a tear jerker fantastic read. Blue and Chloe have such chemistry together it makes you beg for the same. Their young lives were hard and they fought it to have a good life but all it really did was make them sad and lonely. They have each other to fight the darkness that threaten them. Thumbs up to Stephanie Rowe for another awesome book!
Blue, a kidnap recovery specialist, is a haunted man. He's lived for decades with guilt over something from his past. He's shut himself off from his family, believing they're better off without him. Instead, he's devoted his life to rescuing those taken against their will, ensuring they're reunited with their loved ones. But after losing his new partner, he's finding it difficult to cope. His best friend and former partner, Harlan, offers Blue his old cabin as an escape and hopefully to find some peace. However, it seems the same place has been loaned to someone else as well.
Chloe needs to get away. She's out of a job, a home, and her relationship. Yeah, if there was a bad luck cloud, it was wrecking havoc on Chloe and she needed it to stop. Her job as a social worker meant everything to her, especially after growing up in foster homes. Her boyfriend of eleven years, Ronald, suddenly changed his mind and decided he did want to get married after all.. to someone else. Of course, that meant she was homeless as well since she'd moved into his place years ago. As if that's not bad enough, she's suddenly in the middle of nowhere, staring at a gun pointed at her. Umm, that's one first impression that's really hard to come back from.
Thankfully, Blue and Chloe do talk, sans the gun, and realize what happened. Chloe is able to find another place to stay thanks to her friend, Emma, and Blue offers her a ride there, as her car died...of course.
Though you'd think two people who met as they did would want to stay far away from each other, they can't. They both immediately felt a connection, a kinship in their broken souls, not to mention a chemistry that's incendiary. But Chloe is determined to be independent, therefore she's not looking for a relationship. As for Blue, he feels he's not worthy of love and since he'll be leaving soon for another job, they both agree to enjoy the time they do have together. Neither want it to end, but when Blue gets called for his next job, both know it's time to say good-bye. Or is it?
What happens when you find the love you've always craved, but feel you have to walk away to complete your life's mission? Can Blue and Chloe have both? Will Blue leave Chloe and the family he's found in Birch Crossing? Will Chloe open the knitting store again, relishing in the acceptance she's found? Or will she push her heart's desire away to help others? Can Blue and Chloe continue to help others in a different way? Will Blue ever reunite with his family? Is there a HEA for these two?
One-click now and follow along as two people, both emotionally vulnerable and wounded, discover a love, a family, that can conquer everything that stands in the way of their happiness. I loved this book. Blue and Chloe quickly grabbed my heart and became one of my favorite book couples ever. Their banter is at times both sweet and funny because they completely understand each other. I can't find the words to adequately express how much I loved this book. This book proves yet again, why this author is one of my favorites. While this is book four in the series, I think you can easily read it as a standalone, though I do recommend reading them in order.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
I really love this authors writing style. The first book I picked up (it was free) was Birch Crossing #1 story and I was a bit apprehensive but towards the end I really got into it and wanted to find out more about the folks of Birch Crossing.... And so I kept going (Birch Crossing #2 Astrid and Jason's story is the best by the way) So back to #4..... Love the story line and the romance that develops between Chloe and Blue. But what I did not like was the inconsistencies and the over the top insta-feeling-love story. In the Harlan and Emma's story (Birch Crossing #3)...at the end...after 2 months of being together Harlan sold his place, moved in with Emma and invested his money in building the addition to Emma's cabin. When we are introduced to Blue and Chloe in this book, it has been a year of Harlan and Emma's being together yet the first thing we find out is that the cabin that Harlan owned is still in Harlan's possession?? They have great communication but yet both Harlan and Emma let 2 different friends stay at the cabin at the same time without knowing that one allowed their friend stay there... If I owned a real-estate that would be the first thing I mention to my significant other.... "By the way honey.... Blue will be staying in my cabin for the next few days...." Makes sense, right?? Then after just having sex and knowing each other for 1 day...really..... Chloe and Blue have such a deep connection that he is treating her like they have been together for ages... he can read her every emotion and interpret every face expression so well. He can pull her into hugs in front of her and his friends like they have been a couple for years... I don't know... It made it unbelievable and almost cringe worthy in my opinion. Also the bit about her moving in ....temporary into a house that someone else has listed for sale....and she is styaing there for free....and then the very next day 6 older ladies that live in town just barge in and start setting up knitting shop was just out there... Is anyone else seeing a tiny itsy bitsy problem there?? And then to top if off....(mind you we are on day 2 of Chloe staying at total strangers house) that same said stranger decides to sell her the house for $5.oo just so she will keep the knitting shop going... That for me was just too much ....way too much way too fast...lol I like the writing and the story line but I wished it stayed more realistic....instead some parts made it into kids fairy tale and that was where it lost some of the appeal.... add a lot of cliches in there....and ....well hence the 4 stars....
this was my first read of the Birch Crossing series and i will definitely be buying book 1 to 3. this was a lovely easy read with troubled charachters who find each other and heal each other.
Blue Carboni is of course a sexy drop dead gorgeous hunk who is emotionally dead, who accidently meets (i think it was FATE) the beautiful sensual Chloe Dalton when they end up both staying in the same cabin in Birch Crossing,
of course the couples start of a new romance is not helped when both people are pulling away from the tie because of their pasts that we as a reader know they should be grabbing on to and running with because they are perfect for each other.
i think this is a perfect book to bring on holiday as it can be picked up while lying by the pool in the warm sun and put down if you really have to (LOL) and picked up again as there are not too many charachters and details to have to keep track of.
The story of course keeps you feeling that they better fallen in love or i would have jumped right in there and robbed him for myself (well in my imagination this could have happened) YEA I WISH
I had read the Ever After series and had hoped Blue would get a book. (I actually searched for his name a couple of years ago.) Now that Ever After has been rechristened Birch Crossing I was sooo thrilled to see Blue finally got his book. Prince Charming Can Wait now titled Unintentionally Mine was my favorite. I think Blue and Harlan are very similar. It was nice to see an update on Harlan and the family.
This book hit all the feels. Happy, sad, fear, longing, love, and tears of both heartache and joy. So well written. Pieces pulled together beautifully. And characters you can’t help but empathize with from start to finish. Guaranteed to pull at your heartstrings. Both Chloe and Blue will draw you in and have you rooting for them. Guaranteed.
Poignant from start to finish! Stephanie Rowe has been One of my favorite authors for a long time—this book is right up there with Lessons in Chemistry! It’s a “can’t stop reading” hit from the beginning! We need more Birch Crossing books—I’m running out. (Also love the Hart Family books! And Rogue Valley books, too!)
What a beautiful and prolific story. Cuts right to the core and holds on. Blue and Chloe will teach you a few lessons along their path of discovery and what a hard won path they take. Beautiful, tear filled and amazing!
Loved this series! I read the whole thing really fast because I wanted to read ALL about the characters. Blue and Chloe both went thru so much. I am glad they helped heal each other!
Just fantastic. I cried. I laughed. Two very broken people coming together to heal each other. They are a perfect fit together. So much emotion and feeling in this book.
This is such a great town filled with wonderful people. I love how individual's who were hurting and down and out end up being the answer to other's prayers. Fun read.
Oh my this one keeps your emotions on the edge, go from crying no don't go tears to om my goodness happy tears. Totally loved this story!!!! Great ending too!!!
I'm a huge Stephanie Rowe fan. Having read her other series, I have to say that she writes a most compelling story. Be prepared to laugh, gasp, shake your head and even she'd a tear or two.
Instant compassion for the burnt out hero that's lost his sh*t and the irreverent heroine with a sad childhood. A beautiful romance that touched me deeply. I laughed a lot at Chloe and grinned a lot when Blue gave Chloe a grin. I read paragraphs over and over in the middle of reading to slow it down. I didn't want that joy and laughter to go away. I didn't want this feeling of love and adoration to end. Sure, midway through me, and I'm sure ever other reader, wanted to shake them both and give them the solution, but it takes them and a friend quite a bit longer to come to the same solution. And then I was crying. It's not sad. It is emotional. Oh, so good.
An absolute must if you love a good romance with heart. If I could give this one six, seven or more stars, I so would.
Excerpt “He crouched beside her, his hand going to her elbow. "You okay?" "No. My heart just exploded in terror, and my brain is irretrievably melted from fear." She closed her eyes, trying to keep the dizziness at bay. "I am not built for that kind of running." "I really am sorry. I was asleep and reacted instinctively when you barged in." "I didn't barge. I was fleeing killer mosquitoes." Her lungs hurt. Her throat hurt. Had she been screaming? She kind of thought she might have been. "How much was I screaming just now?" She heard him chuckle. "Not enough. If I really was a bad guy, you should have worked harder to alert help." "Because the raccoons and skunks would definitely have come to my aid." She finally got a decent breath into her lungs, enough to look up at him.” Excerpt From: Rowe, Stephanie. “Irresistibly Mine: A Birch Crossing Novel.”
I was hooked from the beginning and I didn't want to put this book down. From the moment you meet Blue and Chloe, you want to know everything about them. They had difficult childhoods for different reasons, but both of them feel broken. The feeling for them is constant, but I think every reader can relate. At some point everyone feels broken. Blue and Chloe have a connection that neither one wants to admit exists. It's frustrating at times that they don't realize how rare and amazing that connection is, but I think it's better for them in the end.
What a great story! Blue rescues kidnap victims but is not in good shape mentally after the last mission. When he calls his friend Harlan, and former partner, he ends up in Birch Crossing at Harlan's cabin to try and get better. Chloe's boyfriend of too many years surprises her with a call telling her to move out cause he's engaged to someone else and her job is cut. With no where to else to go her friend Emma tells her to use her cabin. When they meet at opposite ends of a gun, the attraction is instant. But can 2 souls that don't want romance or love find happily ever after?
Love this story!!! Two people not looking for love but find each other you would think could be sappy but this book is anything but. The depth to the characters is great and the story line just has you wanting more. You have 2 lost souls and a town that wants to help them. A must read story for the romantics and even those not really into them. The story will put a smile on your face and also tears in your eyes, yup keep the hankies near but so worth it!!! I receive a copy in exchange for nothing. I'm leaving my opinion because I want to.
This is the fourth book in Stephanie Rowe's Birch Crossing series and the first one I have read. Each can be enjoyed as a standalone, but having now been introduced to the couples from the previous books, I am going straight to Amazon to download their stories!!
Irresistibly Mine is a great small town romance. I love Blue and Chloe together, they are both outsiders who come to Birch Crossing to heal, and they recognise something within each other - they can see the pain the other is in and can not help being drawn to one another. Stephanie Rowe adds depth and emotion to the story and characters as she reveals the events that lead Blue and Chloe to Birch Crossing. There is also a lightness to the story, both with the humour running through it, and the overall message that with the right people around you, with their love and support, you will heal. Overall, this is another fantastic book by Stephanie Rowe and she continues to be one of my go-to authors.
I received an ARC of Irresistibly Mine in exchange for an honest review.
Irresistibly Mine by Stephanie Rowe is an irresistible read. This book is so easy to slip into, from the first page through to the last. With characters you can relate to and a story line that raises emotions in you as you read. I found the interaction between the lead characters to be honest; no fanciful dream writing, but rather written for imagery that you can believe in. It took me longer to read than expected, solely due to trying to focus through tar filled eyes – this was not necessarily through sadness, but laughter.
I would definitely recommend this book to a reader interested in an honest, believable and sweet romance, with an edge of something deeper. Just enough depth to make this story a little more than standard, but not involved enough to make the reader work to understand what is happening. Simply put, this book is a wonderfully enjoyable read.
I can't begin to express how much I loved this book. I will warn you that you may need some tissue for this one. I cried like a baby through a few parts of it. Stephanie definitely knows how to tug on the heart strings. That is one of the things I love most about her books. She can make me cry and laugh on the same page. I think this may be one of her best books yet. I don't know if it was the storyline or just the characters in general, but I definitely formed an attachment to Chloe and Blue. I probably could have read 10 more chapters and been happy! Chloe and Blue will break your heart with their stories. I can't decide which part made me cry the most, but the airport scene was definitely a good one. I can't wait for others to read this book. If you haven't already fallen in love with Rowe's books, you will after this.
Blue and Chloe have quite an introduction. They are both in need of some time to heal but being alone may not be what they real need.
It is a really well-written romance with a real message about love and hope. Neither of the characters seem to believe love is in the cards for them but life offers them a real chance at happiness. I really liked the characters. The author does a great job with small town romances and really makes you feel part of the community. While this is part of a series, each can be read as a standalone.
What a privilege to read such a beautiful romance blossom between 2 tortured souls, Blue, a kidnap rescuer and Chloe, a social worker. I found myself being swept along and pulled into Birch Crossing as if I was another character in the book watching how their pasts urged them to their chosen career paths and how fate led them to meeting that one night in a cabin in the woods. I loved that they found an instant connection and enjoyed reading the comical banter between them.
