As the sun's rays peeked above the horizon, lighting the abyss below her, she inhaled a deep breath, closed her eyes, and jumped. She didn't scream; she didn't look down. As much as she hated her life, she hoped it wouldn't end this way. She'd really like to see him one more time.
Her life didn't flash before her eyes as she'd always heard. Just an image of her mother covered in blood and her Dark Angel telling her he was sorry.
CREATUS is a new romantic-suspense novel with a supernatural edge that answers the myths and fairy tales you've heard about preternatural sentient beings.
Reader Profile: First and foremost, I am a reader. From the moment I could hold a book, I've been fascinated by the written word. I enjoy almost everything but lean toward romantic suspense and magical realism. If you're looking for bad reviews, you won't find them here. The reason... life's too short to read bad books. If a book isn't at least three stars halfway through, I stop reading, and therefore, don't feel as though I have the right to review it. That's my policy! Please don't send me requests, though. If you are one of my cyber friends, I will eventually find you. :)
Author Profile: A writer of modern-day fairy tales, I write stories that overflow with romance, mystery, suspense, a hint of paranormal sometimes, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a fairy tale be without a tragic event setting the stage? All of my novels are sensual but not erotic, gripping but not graphic, and will hopefully, make you cry, laugh, love, and hope.

This was a good start to the series. The story is interesting and your invested in the characters straight away. It's a unique theme and your left wanting to find out what happens next.
Have had Creatus: They Exsist and Creatus, sitting in my Kindle for forever and I’m glad I decided to read this right quick. Because this is my first “exposure” to the series, it sounds like it might be worth it to continue with the rest of the series. I would like to know what a Creatus is and what happened to Kris. So here I go! It would’ve taken me a day to read this, but I stopped and listened to a different book because of my job.
Really weird pacing in the stories, and you don’t really get to know much about any of the characters. I finished it 10 min ago and can barely remember the character names.
All I know is that all the creatus look “exotic” (HAAAATE that word as a descriptor) and they’re super strong. They never really describe how strong. Just... so strong, apparently. Oh, and they can jump really high, hear really well, and see better than humans. Other than that, I have zero clue what the hell they are. Little to nothing is given of their background. On the cover is says “all the myths are real”. What myths? Superman? Wonder Woman? The DC universe is the ONLY kind of “myths” they refer to, and frankly I don’t think those count as myths. Vampires, werewolves, aliens, etc., are myths. The Justice League is not QUITE in the same realm. You get an Aqua Man in there, and I’m listening. Maybe.
As for the romance: slow burn and the most that happens on the pages is kissing. There’s implied sex, but the main male character has to feel it in his head and heart before “falling”. Sounded like they couldn’t come up with a better version of “imprinting” and decided to shorten up “falling in love” to describe what happens when a creatus meets their soulmate. The main couple also gets married before they have sex. They’ve had approximately 3 conversations with each other and have made out so hard she had an orgasm from a kiss (not even joking, I straight up laughed at that) and they decide to settle down because how much better could it possibly get? Push aside the fact they’ve both had sex before and he comes off as more than a little controlling, interfering in every aspect of her life, and you’ve got the formula for a perfect (hahahahahahahahahahah) marriage. Harlequin has built better foundations for marriages than this.
Other issues I had with the romance: Kris. Artistic child turned troubled teen turned rebellious young woman. Art is life and then she stops drawing forever. Nothing else remarkable about her except that she’s an alcoholic and craves a drink a few times (BUT DONT WORRY GUYS, THE MAN SAVES HER) and she has weird reactions to weed. Ok, nothing wrong with these things, yet her boyfriend makes it his mission to purify her of these things, and eat organic everything all the time, even though she wants a goddamn pizza. Let her eat the pizza. Oh, they also really heavily drill it into you that she’s not an alcoholic, she just binge drinks a lot, which somehow necessitates detoxing for two days and getting the DT’s. Mkay. Not an alcoholic but has enough in her system continuously to go through major withdrawals at 21. Gotcha. She likes taking risks because she’s depressed but as soon as her dark angel comes along, she’s all better, just has to be told (all the damn time) that he’s never going to leave her. Ahhh, what an adorable red flag this entire relationship is.
Some weird stuff in the ending, a female creatus who sounds pouty and whiny and yet has arguably more depth than 90% of the characters in the book may or may not fall for a human. I’ve never cared so little for characters in a story as I did in this one, so I guess I’ll never know if she falls for him or not. Again, don’t care.
The whole story was rushed and I felt like the writer has a talent in there that just wasn’t tapped into in this book. You can see hints of it here and there, but I’m not willing to read the rest of the series to see if it comes alive later.

I wasn't sure what this book was going to be like at first I read the description from amazon and thought well it's your average vampire supernatural thing so what are these "Creatus" I must find out at once. So after a year of being in my kindle Collection I finally give it a read, this version also very kindly had the previous book in the series included "They Exist" 0.5 in the series. Which I was glad to read before this in a couple of hours. Creatus picked up at the end of They Exist so you know some of the background behind the Nosedive at the beginning of the book. And why Kristina is so much intoxicated by Dirrick. Among Dirrecks people or the Creatus as they are called he is in charge so bringing a Human into there world seems and is very dangerous indeed but after such a long time being without her but being her Dark Angel always close but never being seen (or so he thought) Dirricks troubles start to pile up and both himself and Kristina must fast face the consequences of being together in a not so safe Creatus community that is trying to hide in plain sight. I for one could not put this read down the way that Dirrick and Kristina passion for each other seems to be raw unstoppable power washes over the reader and everything that he is doing to try and catch the 'Rogue' is to protect the woman he loves and to keep his community intact as well as the greater human population from both becoming victims to the problem of one of his own kind and finding out about the Creatus as a whole. I need to get the rest of the series now so I can only give it 4 because I have to wait see how the story end for the Creatus.
The original idea for the book was destroyed by poor writing. So much repetition. The writer must have not re-read what she wrote and presumes readers as stupid not to notice. I am glad I didn't pay for the set but downloaded it free from kobo books. You can grasp the gist of the book just by reading the dialogue, rest of it is over-explanatory repetition and discriptive filler text. I am not a native English speaker and usually when I find a word I am not familiar with I know the writer has a rich vocabulary, however this book was written for 10 year olds.
Too bad, writer has a good story to write, but with that writing style I will not be reading any of the sequels.
This is what I wrote in my personal notes: I had no idea that the author of Some Lucky Woman wrote urban fantasy as well. I stumbled upon Creatus, recognised the author's name because I've so recently read it, and thought "What the hell. Why not?" This is a pretty good story. Not without flaws but it does make me want to read more of the series.
Kept me on edge, made me feel for the characters... I liked the way it ended, you can move on to the next one, or walk away after this one. But it does tempt you to move on to the next book :)
The story was great although I'm a little upset they didn't close off Vic and Reese's story. I kept waiting foe that to happen and was disappointed they didn't.
