Five bestselling Western romance authors have created a world like no other - full of fun outside activities, a huge family in need of love, and side characters you will never forget. A world where our characters learn, laugh, and love.
Discover River's End Ranch, a gorgeous "destination ranch and resort" in Riston, Idaho, that is run by the six Weston siblings and their well-meaning, semi-retired parents.
Jess Weston is about to graduate from veterinarian school when Jake, her cousin Wade's best friend from high school, comes back to town for a two-week vacation and Wade puts him in the cottage next to hers. It was bad enough that she'd had an embarrassing and totally unrequited crush on Jake when she was younger, but now he was even more attractive, and he might be sticking around for longer than two weeks....as her new boss, which puts him firmly off limits for anything more than friendship.
Jake Wheldon is also a veterinarian and has come home to Riston to be closer to his father who lives in town with his snobby wife, Claire. Jake wants to put down roots, to build something and jumps on an opportunity to buy the vet clinic where Jess is an intern. He hasn't seen her since she was thirteen. She was cute then but much too young for an eighteen-year-old high school senior. She's all grown up now, but as his employee, she remains out of reach...
Pamela M. Kelley is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of women's fiction, family sagas, and suspense. Readers often describe her books as feel-good reads with people you'd want as friends.
She lives in a historic seaside town near Cape Cod and just south of Boston. She has always been an avid reader of women's fiction, romance, mysteries, thrillers and cook books. There's also a good chance you might get hungry when you read her books as she is a foodie, and occasionally shares a recipe or two. :)
This is the second book in a multi-author western contemporary romance series that some of my favorite authors contributed to. The series focuses on a family, their dude ranch, their employees and guests.
This is a sweet story of two peoples home knew each other in school becoming reacquainted as adults. Both veterinarians.
My favorite character Jaclyn, the woman who listens to fairies, makes an appearance as well.
DNF. I loved the premise, but every time I picked it up it was a struggle to continue reading. I was in a mood for this type of fluff read too. Too much unnecessary info. Very wordy. Amateurish writing. Jake and Jesse's relationship felt formal. I was unable to connect. Everything felt told to me. I did not feel the attraction or romance.
Cute story young post college adults finding their place, starting their adult job, this one is I haven't read yet, veterinarians. Falling in love with your previous teen crush.
Veterinarian's Vacation by Pamela Kelley is an entertaining contemporary romance. Ms. Kelley has delivered a well-written book. The characters are phenomenal, I love them. Jess is doing an internship while she's finishing the last of veterinarian school. Jake moves home to Riston and buys the clinic where Jess works. Jess and Jake's story is loaded with drama and humor. This is a clean read, appropriate for any age. I enjoyed reading Veterinarian's Vacation and would happily read more from Pamela Kelley in the future. Veterinarian's Vacation is book 2 of the River's End Ranch Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Veterinarian’s Vacation – Pamela M Kelley – Jess is starting an internship at the local vet clinic as she finishes up her classes. When she learns that the current doctor is retiring and selling his practice to her longtime crush Jake, it complicates her plans to stay in Riston. But with Jake renting the cabin next door to her, working at the clinic, and volunteering at the local food pantry, they have quite a bit of time together. The only question is are they willing to risk their new friendship for a chance at a forever together? This is full of kittens, bunnies, and cute couples! Happy Reading!
I enjoyed Jess and Jake's story. There is a five-year age difference and Jess has been attracted to Jake since she was thirteen. They lost touch over the years, but now he's back and looking hotter than ever! As the new veterinarian in town, Jake takes over the practice that Jess is interning at. Jess also works part-time at the diner and enjoys sweet banter with the patrons. This was a sweet story that allowed Jess and Jake's relationship to build over the course of the book and I enjoyed watching their love grow from beginning to end. Onto Book 3 in this delightful new series!
I love the characters. I would've enjoyed a little more sizzle in the writing. Chaste sizzle. But feelings, not just a log of daily activities. It seemed like they were in the friend zone, in the friend zone, in the friend zone, and then bam, they fell in love got married and the next page the story was over. What happened with the clinic? Did they build your dream house? Will she end up living away from the resort? Did she give up her job at the café? Did she graduate from Vetrinary School?
I enjoyed this novel much better than the first in the series; however, there wasn’t much romance involved. Most of the story was spent detailing daily activities. There was very little development of the characters’ growing feelings for one another. They became friends and basically stayed that way until the last couple of chapters, and then Bam! all of a sudden they’re in love. I did like the characters, but just wish their thoughts and feelings had been explored more to add to the romance of the story, rather than their daily agendas.
A quick read in the River's End Ranch series book two. It is a standalone read but carries on with the Weston family and just how close they all are. Jess being a cousin but growing up she was treated just like a sister and values and family mean everything to them. So Jake knew Jess because Jake is Wade's best friend and being a cousin Jess was around Jake also. A well written perfectly paced story.
Cousin Jess get to finally get a wonderful story. She lost her parents young but thanks to her aunt & uncle she has had a good life. She has almost finished Vet school and she is hoping to get hired on. Jake is back on vacation & is thinking of buying the Veterinarian practice. Will it being them closer.
I love Jake and Jess! They have one of those- he's too old and then enough time passes that it's not a big deal romances. They are neighbors and spend time together as friends, and then, BOOM he proposes! Wait? What? So, I had to suspend disbelief, but it was a cute story.
A fast and easy going light romance between a Veterinarian who returns to his home town and his best friend's younger sister. She is going to Veterinarian school and working part time at the local VET office to complete her internship. A cute and very entertaining story.
Jess & Jake Jess was raised at RER and is now going to school and working as an intern at the local vet clinic as an intern for the ‘old; vet in Riston, ID. Jake is all grown up from me boy in high school and returning home to Rison, ID as a full time vet. When Jake buys the vet clinic, how will that affect Jess (SHH – she had a crush on him in school)?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story for many reasons. It was believable and progressed as it should without including overrated sensationalized sex! I also liked the educational references to abstaining from alcohol for both principal characters because their parents had a bad history of alcohol abuse
I really like that this is a sweet romance appropriate for anyone. Pamela Kelley has written believable characters with a history. I like the ending. No spoilers here.
What a fun book to read! I really enjoyed the fact the main characters were cat lovers and veterinarians. I can’t wait to read more of this series, and other books by this author!
A fun, entertaining read. Cousin Jess is finishing her vet degree in a small town & needs to decide on her next career move. Reading book 1 made this story more fun since I had already met several characters.
This story was short and so sweet! And it was special to me since I have a daughter who is a veterinarian. I remember her feelings when she was deciding her first job offer.
Remember your big crush and disappointment? Jess is just about done with her degree when he came back to town. A HEA stand-alone romance with real problems handled. A nice story to relax to.
This was a very cute romance. My only problem with it was that it was too easy. The conflict was nonexistent and everything ended up perfect suddenly. Would have liked more build up.
Everything and more keep my attention and keep me reading on very hard for me to put down. Would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Thank you Pamela Kelley enjoyed reading this book.
Just loved this Story with Jess and Jake They were so good together I felt like I needed more. I am so hoping they will be in the next Story Shirley Ketcham
Great book. The River's End Ranch should be a real place. It seems like the place to be. I am really enjoying every book so far. Jess and Jake are awesome together!
