Let's just suspend reality for a moment and take LUCKY SPRINGS, VOLUME 1 for what it is, raunchy, smutty bisexual orgy porn. Oh, it's hot as hell and had me squirming in my seat here and there, but don't mistake this for something with depth or substance. I actually got to a point midway through the second story where I was so sick of the sex I found it hard to focus and was easily distracted by the twittersphere, CNN, painting my toenails, washing the dog and even cleaning the toilet. Therefore, I must decree that no other reader try to read this straight through, instead, enjoy this in small doses, as needed, with the appropriate BOB and bottle of wine.

I've tried to list the entire alphabet soup of sexual situations, but don't blame me if I missed a few combos…there's a LOT (yet is somehow all the same).

JOINING THE PARTY
When Cassie hears the moans coming from the other side of the yard, her reporter's nose has her peeking in her neighbors' window. Shocked, she sees the Meriwether brothers, Monty, Dom and Ham, along with Monty's boyfriend Alex…and dozens of other people engaged in what could only be described as a kick ass orgy. Caught, Cassie is wildly excited about being the cream in a chocolate and caramel cookie when the men encourage her to participate in a private party between the 5 of them. Soon, Cassie can't get enough, especially of Dom, Monty and Alex.

In JOINING THE PARTY, Cassie falls for Dom and doesn't want him sleeping with other women, but is just fine with whatever sexcapades Monty, Alex and Ham get up to at their parties. Poor Dom. Any sort of situations involving siblings usually icks me out, but there was just so much sex I couldn't focus on the gross factor here.

BIRTHDAY PARTY SURPRISE
As the owner of Jessica's Salon, Jessica knows all the gossip, usually courtesy of her stylists Andrew and Stuart. She's tired of hearing about everyone else's sex lives when the one man she wants, Frank, only visits once a year and even then it's usually with his buddy Eric. When Jess gets invited to a blindfolded birthday fantasy, she's more than happy to get down and dirty with a few good men. When she finds out she's been played by all four of the men in her life, Jessica will have to decide if she's willing to take a chance on any...or all...of them.
In BIRTHDAY PARTY SURPRISE, Frank was a superdouche, he had his cake, pie, cotton candy and ate them all too (but didn't want anyone else to have any of them either…until he got called out, then he was all in). I'm usually all for the guy on guy, but I wouldn't mind ole' Franko getting the boot in this ménage and girlfriend just kickin' it with Andrew, Stewart and Eric.

RED-HOT PARTY
Ham loves the sex parties he throws with his brothers and their lovers, but he wants a woman of his own. His brother Monty's boyfriend Alex is way protective of his baby sister Lolly, and there's no way he can invite her to participate in the orgy-tastic fun he provides the horny community. But all bets are off when Lolly and his coworkers and lovers Shane and Bruce catch a party in action. Lolly is all in when she finds out the men enjoy each other as much as her…she'll just have to prove to her brother she's not being corrupted by the big bad firemen.

Oh Ham. He likes to spank some ass. Fortunately Lolly and Shane are into it as well. I thought Ham was a pushy dick, but also that Lolly was an indecisive idiot. I think Ms. Dragon was shooting for some emotion in this one, with the discussions of family and judgment, etc, but it didn't quite work out in my opinion.

TRAINING PARTY
Angie needs to drop 5 lbs before Cassie's wedding day, but when her friend Tucker catches her in a Ben & Jerry's ménage, he knows he'd better keep her on track. Tucker and his subs Landon and Dane all are desperate for Angie, but she's kept them in the friend zone. When Tucker realizes her fantasies and kinks line up perfectly with his, he's more than happy to make them become a reality.

Ah...yea. This one is really sucky. And not in a good way. Tucker is in the friend zone, decides to go through Angie's drawers to find hidden snacks, spots HIGHLIGHTED passages about squirting in BDSM books along with, coincidently, 3 giant vibrators, and he decides to go all Master on her right then and there and demand she ménage with his subs. Angie's like, "oh no, I'm soooo fat! I can't!" And Tucker's like, "I'm the Dom, command you!" And Angie's like, "Ok Master, I love you. Spank me please." And he's like "I'm the boss, you don't tell me what to do, I tell you. I'm going to spank you! And also 2 other men that you and I will also be fucking." And she's all, "I love being spanked and filled by 3 big bi men, but what would my mother say!?" Gaah! There was nothing about this story that appeals to even the most basic fans of D/s and BDSM, it was ridiculous.

Lucky Springs contains three stories about the poly relationships within a small Louisiana town. The first one is about a national photo journalist, Cassie. She’s home between projects and overhears suspicious sexual noises one night and goes over to tell the neighbors to close the windows but ends up gawking at the orgie happening at her sexy neighbor’s house.



The three Merriweather brothers are living together next door. The youngest brother, Monte, is known in town as “gay” and his lover, Alex, lives with them. All four of the men would love to invite Cassie to participate in their parties, but the parties are secret for those involved. Cassie isn’t usually home long enough for them to to find out if she would like to participate.



The pairings are MF, MFM, MMF, and MM. Even though this is a story that has many sexual partners and sex, the sex scenes aren’t very explicit, but the scenes still propel the plot forward. Because three of the four are brothers, the only male/male action is between Monte and Alex. Those two are known in town as gay, but they admit to Cassie they are bisexual, and give their reason why they don’t tell everybody. It’s a personal choice I could understand. I liked Cassie with the Merriweathers, although this story left it open for the oldest brother, Ham, to find someone of his own later on. He enjoys partners who like to have a little spanking with their sex which Cassie isn’t into.



The second story is about Cassie’s cousin, Jessica. The pairings are MF, MMMM, MMMMF, MMF. Jessica has been waiting for her high school sweetheart, Frank, who left to go to college with his best friend, Eric, and then to make his fortune… for fifteen years. Andrew and his boyfriend, Stuart, work with Jessica and they keep offering a ménage to Jessica but she doesn’t take them seriously because she thinks they are gay and joking with her. It all comes to a head on her birthday when Andrew convinces her to have a blindfolded night with four guys who are only into her. With Frank’s absence and lack of commitment eating at her, she says yes and it changes the game for four men.



To be honest, I didn’t think Frank deserved the second chance. I mean, fifteen years! He was playing both Eric and Jessica. But Jessica is the one who was okay with seeing Frank a couple of times a year. If it had been me, he would be walking away and I would have kept the other three. MINE!



The third story in this volume was about Ham Merriweather from the first short. The pairings are MF, MMM, MMMF. We finally find out why Ham is spending so much time at the fire station. He’s in love with Alex’s little sister and Alex would have Ham’s head if he pulled her into his ménage world. Ham goes along with Alex’s wishes until Lolly stumbles onto one of their orgies. She’s not as freaked out as Ham or Alex thought she would be, but Alex is the overprotective brother. He said some things to Ham that made me want to slap him silly for. Ham just shrugged it off. Again, the story was low angst with events going forward rather easily.



I think my only real complaint is there is some very creative body contortions for the sex. I won’t go into detail about how extreme it got because I like to keep the review PG13, but sexual positions in some of the scenes aren’t possible. Hands and mouths were put in places where there wouldn’t have been enough room. At first I kept trying to figure out how and gave up. It was only distracting in a few places since there wasn’t much erotic detail to the sex scenes. These stories aren’t deep on the emotional romance which makes for a quick read. There is very little angst and what’s present is effectively smoothed over, making this book a fun read that let me slip away from reality for a couple of hours.
