USA Today Bestselling Author Lisa Hughey has a new series! What do you do when you’re in danger but no one believes you? Adams-Larsen Inc and Associates, ALIAS, helps ordinary citizens in danger when they need to disappear.
Stalked: Opposites attract, unfortunately.
Rule follower, Federal US Deputy Marshal Alex Saunders has been assigned to protect a federal judge after the judge receives death threats. This detail is standard until the judge insists on his son’s PR firm provide backup security, which isn’t even in the rule book. But because Alex is already in hot water, he follows orders to keep the judge happy.
Rule breaker, and former CIA analyst, Kita Kim reluctantly agrees to go undercover, posing as the judge’s aide slash girlfriend, but in return she expects her boss at ALIAS to help her protect an abused woman and her nieces even though technically keeping the children from their father is against the law.
From the very start, Alex and Kita disagree about everything. But their sizzling attraction continues to grow as the threats against the judge escalate and put them all in danger. Can these two opposites find enough common ground outside the bedroom, or will their diverse philosophies result in disaster?

USA Today Bestselling Author Lisa Hughey started writing romance in the fourth grade. That particular story involved a prince and an engagement. Now, she writes about strong heroines who are perfectly capable of rescuing themselves and the heroes who love both their strength and their vulnerability. She pens romances of all types—suspense, paranormal, and contemporary—but at their heart, all her books celebrate the power of love.
She lives in Cape Ann Massachusetts with her fabulously supportive husband, two out of three awesome mostly-grown kids, and one somewhat grumpy cat.
Yoga, hiking, and traveling are her favorite ways to pass the time when she isn’t plotting new ways to get her characters to fall in love.
This is a brand new series featuring Adams-Larsen Inc and Associates (ALIAS). On the top, ALIAS is billed as an exclusive PR firm ... but privately it's a relocation specialist agency. They don't exactly break the law, but skate on the edge of legality. Sort of a Witness Protection operation for your common everyday folks.
A federal judge has received death threats in the mail. Federal US Deputy Marshal Alex Saunders is given the responsibility of protection. However, the judge is insisting on back-up security from ALIAS. Alex is not happy at all, especially when the judge requests a woman.
Kita Kim, former CIA Analyst, agrees to go undercover as the judge's aide. Kita and Alex are throwing sparks off each other almost the moment they meet. However, this looks more like a love/hate relationship. Alex is a by-the-book, play-by-rules sort of man. Kita is a rule-breaker whenever necessary. The two of them disagree on everything....
almost everything. There is that crazy attraction that keeps growing. But will their 'wants' interfere with the 'need' of protecting the judge?
Since the judge has wined and dined and bedded almost every woman in Washington, the number of suspects is considerable. Which of them has the most to gain with the judge's death?
This is a well-written Romantic Suspense. Looks like a very good start to a new series. Alex and Kita both have issues resulting from things that happened when they were very young. How they got past those issues to be together professionally and personally was handled believably.
Being a romantic expense, the reader has come to realize that there will most always be at least one very explicit intimate interlude. This book is no different.
I would like to thank the author and Netgalley for an advance copy of Stalked. All opinions expressed are my own.
Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.
A sexual smash up the likes of which leaves nothing but smoldering ruins behind. This train wreck between a hero who is the consummate rule follower and a heroine who skirts the rules and breaks the ones that stand in her way is sure to end badly, very badly, unless one of them can change.
Alex is with the Marshals service and follows their rules to the letter and beyond. His current job is to find out who is behind the threats to a Federal Judge. Judge Adams has requested the services of ALIAS - Adams, Larsen, and Associates, an image consulting group, and Kita has been assigned. Alex is over the top annoyed with being saddled with a PR operative. Operative being the key word here. ALIAS is a whole lot more than a PR firm and Kita has skills that Alex can't even fathom.
This is my first book by Lisa Hughey and I loved this book. It will not be my last. Despite moments of angst and the lust at first sight, it has a very good plot and the baddie was a surprise to me. More and more wonderful authors are electing to go the self-publishing route and that is their choice. I am more than happy when I discover a great author and am able to share them with all my friends.
For a quick read, this was full of action and suspense from the first chapter to the last. It was a bit rushed, but also to be expected in a shorter read. There was insta-lust/love for our MC's who struggled with their attraction to each other. An opposites attract story where both influenced the other to soften their rough edges and meet in the middle. This looks like it will be part of several standalone series. This particular storyline wrapped up but there is also a background story that hints at more to come. Great writing, interesting plot and I would like to read more from this series. ARC provided by NetGalley.
Lisa Hughey has always written good Romantic Suspense and this one is equal to all her others. Smart Ass broken Kita goes head to head with rules following Alex to protect one sleazy Judge. Stalked is a new series by author Lisa Hughey and has potential to be a fun series to follow. The one things I personally as a reader dislike is sexual attraction or Instra love that involves non stop thoughts of sex because the characters going from depth to superficial making the story almost unbelievable. With the current romantic suspense there is sex scenes which or explicit but personal I skipped it because it didn't add anything to the story. Always it was mind blown changing experience. The twist where Alex fines more emotional connection and Kita finds a release from stress comes from their backgrounds being so different. I plan to read more in this series.
Received Advance Copy from Netgalley. Thoughts expressed are my own.
Kita Kim is a strong and rebellious woman working at ALIAS (Adams-Larsen Inc. and Associates)- a PR Agency on paper but mostly deals with getting innocent people into hiding. She has had enough important people in her life let her down that motivates her to help others find a new identity.
Alex Saunders is a deputy marshal for the US Marshals assigned to the case of Judge "Bobby" Adams, an old federal judge with a wandering eye when it comes to women. Alex lives and breathes rules and protocol. They are there for a reason. A good reason. He made the mistake of not following the rules once when he was younger and it has haunted him since.
Can a rebel and a Marshal work together for the protection of a federal judge long enough to find out who has been threatening him?
This book is simply marvelous! FINALLY a book has come along in my TBR pile that I can fly through in one day because it is next to impossible to put down. There are twists and turns with each chapter. When the action is not in the streets, it is in the sheets. A suspenseful novel with a passionate romance so steamy that my glasses were constantly foggy. This book was fast-paced. The main characters had depth and developed smoothly. There was girl power, romance, and strong friendship ties that tugged at my heart. I highly recommend this book for anyone who particularly enjoys romantic suspense novels. It was, in a word, thrilling.
For those who may be sensitive: There is violence, graphic sex scenes, foul language, and physical abuse in a domestically violent situation.
Please note: an electronic copy of this novel was generously provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The banter and the humour is definitely enjoyable. The team work and the secondary characters are one to watch out. Love the can’t keep the hands off each other vibe and the venerability of both the characters. Enjoyable romance and suspense.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Stalked was a shot in the dark for me. I’m not normally a romance fan, but have been enjoying thrillers this year so figured I would step out of my comfort zone.
This book made me laugh. Unfortunately, for the wrong reasons.
First of all: where is the line between romance and erotica? Three pages of explicit sex doesn’t bother me, but I wasn’t expecting it in this genre. Especially not when I planned to read the book on the train.
Second of all: we are introduced to the characters by them both having internal monologues questioning why they are thinking about sex. It went on for so long “think-about-sex-why-am-I-thinking-about-sex?-think-about-sex” that I found it hilarious. I’m guessing it wasn’t supposed to be?
That being said, the book isn’t actually a bad one! Both Kita and Alex’s characters are well-defined and have complex pasts that make them three-dimensional characters. Kita being the only one to be hurt – more than once – felt like a mere plot-device to let Alex feel protective rather than being used to further the plot.
While their relationship was a bit far-fetched and extreme, the style of writing made it work. The plot itself was fast-paced and tense, with twists along the way in regards to Kita’s past – and connection with the judge – and where the threats were coming from.
I remained engaged the whole way through, even when it was giving me the giggles. The fact they had steamy sex was great – the tension between them meant anything less wouldn’t have been real. It was the amount of description – the novel isn’t that long anyway and so much time was dedicated to sex. Less romance, more thriller, please.
If you’re after a fun read that has a bit of drama, lots of sex, with a few interesting back stories thrown in to form a plot, then Stalked will do the trick for you. But if you’re more interested in the thriller/mystery side of the story, then Stalked will be lacking and leave you disappointed.
This would have been a good read if I knew what I was letting myself in for. So be warned!
This standalone series opener is a spin-off of the Family Stone series and is an excellent read. It provides a balance of suspense, romance and action that keeps the story moving. I couldn't put it down. The characters are three-dimensional, presented through their actions as well as through the author's descriptions of them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series. Alex Saunders is a U.S. Marshall assigned to a protection detail for a judge who has been receiving threats. The judge has insisted someone from his son's image consulting firm, Adams-Larsen, aka ALIAS, be brought on board to provide additional security. Kita Kim, an analyst, is the only one available on short notice and the job is not her usual. But she negotiates with her boss for a favor and joins the team as the judge's aid and arm candy. Alex is suspicious there is more to Adams-Larsen and Kita Kim than what they present to the public. The first day on the job Kita thwarts a murder attempt like a pro, but ends up in the hospital herself fighting for her life. Alex is "Mr By the Rules" while she is a rule breaker. Total opposites. Yet she brings out every protective instinct he has, even if it means that he's the one breaking the rules and risking his job to keep her safe. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. The opinions expressed are honest and my own.
This is my first Lisa Hughey book and I am impressed! Suspense, drama, and romance, what else could you want.
For this to be the first book of a series it does an excellent job building the series basis while still telling the current story. Kita Kim is tough yet sensitive and passionate about her job. Taking on a gig with US Marshall Alex Saunders to protect a presiding federal judge being threatened has Kita torn when she wants to focus on a woman and he nieces who need her help and protection.
Sexy, by the rules, Marshall Alex doesn't want Kita or her firm's help. He doesn't trust they will play by the rules when he is on probation already and he doesn't understand why a PR Firm is necessary in the situation. When Judge Adams is insistent, Kita and Alex are forced to work together. Soon finding themselves dangerously and heatedly attracted one another, both find it difficult to focus on the job at hand over their attraction.
The mystery and suspense was constant and always kept my mind running to figure out it. I cannot wait to read the other books in this series!
WOW! This book is great and I am looking forward to more from this author. The first book to a new series and it did not disappoint. There is violence, graphic sex scenes, rough language, and physical abuse in this book so please be warned. I was pulled into this book with just the blurb & then when I read the first chapter I was really hooked. The writing was great and the story was complete. I loved it. If you are looking for a fast paced book to keep you on the edge of your seat then you don't want this book to get away.
A quick read but it is so full of action and suspense that you don't want it to end. This can be read as a stand alone book, this is the first book in the series. This book has a good balance of romance and suspense. I cant wait for more in this series, what a fab start it is. This author never disappoints in any of there books.
Highly recommended I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
A federal judge is being threaten and besides the protection provided by the U.S. Marshall Service the judge also wants the PR firm that his son owns. You find out later that the firm is much more than PR. The only agent that is available at the time is Kita Kim she really does not want the assignment and lets her feelings known. She also does not have a choice in the matter. She is teamed with Marshall Alex Saunders. Let’s just say this match is like oil and water. Alex is a rule follower and of course Kim is not which only drives him crazy. Which just being around is bad enough because he cannot figure out why he is attracted to her. This attraction adds to the story. When you are deep in the story you find out that Kim is actually ex CIA and also has mad computer skills. There is plenty of non-stop action on who is trying to kill the judge, also some hot scenes in the bedroom, and the mystery of the story will keep you going to the end. There is also a separate case that Kim is working on herself that adds to the following the rules and not. Overall a good story. I really liked the Kim character and her story. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
Seriously enjoyable read. Kita takes her damaging childhood to do good working for a "pr" agency. Meanwhile Alex's childhood trauma constrains him in his job as a US Marshal. He follows the rules because he fears not following them will lead to someone being harmed. Kita makes him see that bending the rules for the greater good can sometimes be necessary. Kita saving Hannah and the kids helped Alex put things in perspective. Their steamy hot romance was a great bonus to the drama to be had by someone stalking the philandering judge. Looking forward to, hopefully, a book about Marsh. The references to him had me intrigued.
Several storylines at play and some great secrets form an interesting story. The chemistry is tangible and the case is interesting. Well written and full of little gotcha moments the PR firm brings a lot of talent to the table. Kira is fascinating and the story builds on this idea of Marsh and his whereabouts. The villain was predictable, but the ending was still colorful and entertaining.
This is the first book in author's new series Alias. Story is about a Federal U S Deputy Marshall who is assigned to protect a Federal Judge. Storyline is very intense; loaded with suspense and secrets. Lots of misdirection and secrets to keep the reader entertained. Will definitely keep the reader guessing. Can't wait to start book two.
I really liked Stalked. I loved Kita, a strong and smart woman with lot's of spunk. This opposites attract book was sweet, steamy and full of action. A really good story that had me on the edge of my seat. A great ending. Looking forward to continuing with this series.
I give Stalked 4 stars for its interesting read. I would recommend this book to fans of Romance.
I really enjoyed this book. A PR firm which does more than PR. A U.S. Marshall who really needs his assignment guarding a Federal judge. The tension between Kita and Alex is hard for either of them to ignore. Who is after the Judge and can Kita survive the attacks on him?
I enjoyed the storyline for this book & the characters were really interesting. Alex & Kita made a good couple because they say that opposites attract, but they worked at two different agencies. Kita's job was really secretive with what they do.
Badass operative who flies by the seat of her pants (sometimes) and stick up the butt US Marshall butt heads and disagree until they discover their hearts are in tune! Love this series.
This romantic suspense book that has a little edge and some sexy scenes. A “by the book” US Marshall, Alex, is forced to take on a partner, Kita Kim, from a PR firm, Alias. Sounds like an odd partnership, but Alias isn’t really a PR firm. Alex and Kita are assigned to guard an over-sexed, 60 year-old federal judge that is getting death threats. Now, I have to admit this is a first in book reads for me. The story has many levels and keeps you guessing. Even though this book is the 1st in the Alias series, it felt like I came into the story late or this was the second book in the Series. There isn’t a cliffhanger but there are loose ends.
Stalked by Lisa Hughey. A great read with lots of action. I liked the story and some of the characters. Kita was my favourite. I'm looking forward to reading more from this series. 4*.

I love this book. A great start to a series that's criminally underdiscovered, in my opinion. If you'd like an overview of the whole series and why you should check it out, see my blog piece: Why you should read the Alias Series by Lisa Hughey
