Lelouch obtained the power of the Geass from a contract he entered with a mysterious girl named C.C. Using his power he wears a mask and begins his revenge against Britannia as 'Zero.' Sometimes he uses his disguise as Zero and the power of the Geass to save his friends and sometimes he uses it to wound a corrupt society. The civilians of Area 11 support Zero's actions, but the same cannot be said about Lelouch's best friend Suzaku
Mejor que el primero en diálogos y arte, con un poco más de desarrollo de personajes. Al final se pone bueno, asi que espero grandes cosas para el tercer tomo (?)
CAUTION! Very minor spoilers ahead... The character development has improved so much since the last volume!! Those classmates of Lelouch (that a lot of people probably forgot about already) have finally shown a part of their importance. By doing so, they've made an impression on the readers. Maybe I'll even remember their names! ;) Suzaku -who is evidently still alive, along with the mysterious girl called C.C- has become much more of a problem. His constant interference with Zero's plan and possibly revealing his identity, has put Lelouch on edge a little bit. Lelouch's clever intelligence and planning so far in advance makes the story that much more interesting to read. Similarly to Death Note's main character Light, Lelouch is always aware of what's about to happen, and needs to keep his true identity a secret from anyone and everyone, including close friends and family. (Sorry, I just had to point out the similarity...) I love that there is so much hilarity involved in the manga version of this series. It gets way too serious, especially with all the killing. Lelouch falling asleep on the bus? Cute. Lelouch in a cat suit? Adorable. Suzaku and Lelouch "battling" it out with a physical test? Crepes. A cat party for Arthur the cat? SQUEEEE!!! Lemme join!! (Haha I know that these parts weren't exactly funny, but I'm amused easily.) Things have gotten exciting, but I also feel like Lelouch, (or technically the author) could have explained his thinking more clearly. For example, how he justifies exactly what he wants to do, his reasoning behind it. (Like KILLING all those people with a bomb!!) Lelouch has also been quite careless it seems with his Geass, (which he did NOT name. C.C. said it when she met up with him after her "death".) Ah well, I'll be reading the next manga! I'm still enjoying it very much. I just can't believe it's only 8 volumes long. (Ha I'm probably mistaken there.)
Ok so..."The only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed!" as Lelouch says in here (though he says it differently, but it means the same thing)
Ok so, as I continued on with the Code Geass series, I noticed that a lot of more comical moments in the manga than in the anime. We get a better insight on some of my favorites as well as learn more about the legend of Geass the power of the king...wow I hope I never get such a gift (cause the person you make the contract with will try to make you take their code and force you to live forever and ever!) So yeh not for me! at least the living for ever part.
So lets get to it. Suzaku annoyed the hell out me (kinda the same way Zak Saturday did, but unlike that bratty piece of annoyance Suzaku seems more in control) he;s stubborn and foolhearted that thats not an exaggeration, he tries to save EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT HE SEES IN DANGER PEOPLE! In volume II my real favorite is of course Lelouch, so deceptive and schematic that he makes look like a fool. No really he does.
So on that note, I really recommended you give the series a try it well worth the time and has a lot of depth buried into it.
The theme of the Graphic Novel changes over the different Volumes that Goro Taniguichi would make, so for this Volume, the theme would have to be "Helping others." Goro Taniguichi shows how a Protagonist can help his best friend whenever he is in danger. Lelouch (also known as Zero) managed to kill his own Blood-Brother Prince Clovis, though even when Zero was trying leave his mark on the Britannian side, hes trying to make a point by saying "Ha! I can use this to help the world become a better place by using my Geass powers!" Though what happens is that his own friend Sazuku was convicted of death of Prince Clovis, though Sazuku is in captive, Lelouch knows he has to get Sazuku out of the hands of Lord Jeremiah (Also known as Orange due to his ranking.) The Author shows how Lelouch tries to save Sazuku even if Lelouch would risk dying for his best friend. Though the odd part was that when Sazuku was saved by Lelouch, Sazuku didn't try to run away from the Brittinian Forces, he just chosed to live like a normal person and walks away from Lelouch.
I would recommend people who are interested in anime, or social/political issues in stories ;D
This series is apparently a fan favorite, but two volumes in and I'm still not seeing what's so fabulous about it. Maybe I just don't go spung for handsome childhood friends become enemies the way some do. Or maybe the anime is better.
