The Vampire Book Two

The members of the Vampire Guard—Jonas Forge, spy and soldier turned cop; computer hacker extraordinaire Blair Turner; Declan, thief, con man, and ex-pirate; and medical examiner and werewolf Dr. Lucas Coate—face a dangerous and elusive enemy.

And this time, it’s personal.

Over the course of three hundred years, a man has touched each of their lives in ways they are only just realizing. When a hunt for a psychotic killer in the present resurrects memories and clues from the past, they discover how they have been affected and are bound by the existence of a ruthless vampire criminal. Now, while preventing a heist at a high-tech art show and thwarting several large-scale explosions, the team must employ their unique blend of science and supernatural abilities to put an end to the machinations of the man toying with their lives.

This time, he won’t slip through their fingers.

This time, it’s more than a case. It’s a hunt, and Forge, Blair, Declan, and Lucas won’t stop until they’ve captured their quarry.

REVISED 2021 EDITION
A vampires life is not always easy! After a close to death implosion, that Blair shouldn’t have been investigating, he suffers through the painful recovery. The Vampire Guard (Blair, Forge, Declan and Lucas) now have an urgent assignment to solve: who is behind the explosion, a black out and the cut-off from all technical devices.

When the guard puts their expertise together they discover that they’re up against an evil culprit who has affected all their lives. The case brings about several interesting flash backs: Simon and Forge’s first contact with Lucas. Robert Turner, Blair’s father and their connection to Jonas Forge. As the case progresses, Blair is recuperating and eagerly developing new devices that are detrimental to the solving this mystery. One of his newest devices is a camera that can take pictures of vampires, which leads to a shocking find in the case.

Elizabeth Noble creates a fantastic second installment for “The Vampire Guard” series. “Quarry” is not all about werewolves and vampires but it’s about friendships that continue to grow and survive the course of time forever. Even with the complexity of the story, the writing is perfect, the story flows easily and never did I loose interest. With the continuing suspense, action, a variety of highly emotional moments, there’s an epic sword battle, a classic weapon for any vampires demise, and a variety of tech gadgets that has Blair Turner squarely in his element with technology.

There’s flash backs and reminiscing that are high points in the story. They bring out humor, the start of new friendships, and heart breaking moments and relationships between fathers and sons. It even, has Jonas Forge showing off his musical talent with Red Mist.

It brings out former and new colorful characters from the different operative teams: Armored Train: Samuel and Sophia Porter, Ori Bier, and Kai Richter. Northern Lights: Dane Ross, Sayyna Yartsev, Maisy Chavez and Palle Eklund. All of these characters bring their own talents with them and some very interesting history.

There’s a wonderful and enjoyable ending as characters from “The Sleepless City” come back into the fold. And as always Moose steals the show!

I highly recommend the first book that introduces “The Vampire Guard” series “Code Name Jack Rabbit”. All of these marvelous characters really start with “The Sleepless City” series that brings a very in-depth look into: Simon, Ben, Jonas Forge, Blair Turner, Declan and Lucas Coates.

I want to say with “Quarry” it doesn’t get any better than this, but I’m sure Elizabeth Noble will prove me wrong. The next installment to “The Vampire Guard” is “Endosymbiont” and it definitely sounds like there’s more suspense and excitement to come!

Well this book was just as exciting as the last. Jonas, Blair, DeClan and Lucas plus 2 other team of agents are assigned another case. Only this case goes back to when Jonas was working as a detective in Boggslake Ohio. A thief/murderer has been causing havoc with technology for about a decade. People killed are considered collateral damage. He messes with Wi-Fi, traffic lights and alarms as a distraction for his nefarious deeds. Blair and DeClan are chasing his accomplice when the building they are in implodes. Blair is badly injured and DeClan tries to calm him down until help arrives. The villain is truly evil and has actually messed with DeClan and Forge 300 years previously. Again I could not stop reading this book. When I got to the end I craved more, unfortunately I will have to wait for the next book.

Once again, you drop right into the action and fill in the details as you go. I experience Noble’s writing, rather than reading it. Quarry isn’t my normal genre, but this writer makes me want to try new things. If you’re a fan of supernatural mysteries, this is a fun, fast-paced adventure with lovable characters and so much potential.

An old enemy returns to threaten our quartet here and they soon discover that this time they face bombs, major attacks on electromagnetic infrastructure and art theft all mixed in with a megalomaniacal plan for mass destruction. I love the mix of high tech with vampires and werewolves in this series.

Quarry is the second book in the Vampire Guard series. The book follows the story of Forge, Blair, Declan, and Lucas. The book is a paranormal mystery suspense and contains werewolves and vampires. The book was well written, had good world-building and story. This book has more exitement than the previous story. Overall it was an enjoyable read and kept me reading until the end to find out how the book ends. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Another adventure

It was much easier to get into this one. The story flowed well and I loved the interactions between not only the couple but all the friends that they've accumulated.
Low on steam and sometimes there were too many names but I really like this group

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

This was a great continuance of the Vampire Guard series. These four characters are wonderful for each other; they can play off the others’ strengths wonderfully. This book kept moving with another twist just around the corner to keep the reader’s interest.

In this story we see even more of the characters’ backgrounds and how they are connected. I love how connected all of the friends are and not just the soul mates when disasters happen and when they are just laid back. They are all surprised by the additional connections they find to each other while working on this case.

I loved seeing them play off each other’s strengths to solve the mystery and catch the bad guy. Being able to see the thoughts and emotions of the four main characters goes a long way to understand what is going on in the story and to stay connected with the many characters. I will commend this author, she does a wonderful job with her writing of keeping the characters separated that I don’t get confused and have to check back on which character I am focusing on at the time as I often to in other books. I am loving this series and can’t wait to read more when they come out.

Cover art by TL Bland is great and is following the basic pattern for the series.

Blair, Forge, Declan, and Lucas, have been given an urgent assignment. They need to find out who is responsible for an explosion. The longer this remains unsolved, the more dangers that arise. Beating this evil will require all the experience they have.

The overall development is incredibly detailed. Relationships are built, some are tested, but you will nonetheless enjoy every moment.

What I do appreciate are the references from the previous book. Having the background information made a difference. Even if you haven't read the first book, some important interconnections of the main characters-Blair, Forge, Declan, and Lucas- carry over.
Despite all the detail, I woudl still recommend reading the first book- if for nothing else, pure enjoyment.

Elizabeth Noble, is a fairly new author to me. After indulging in the first of 'The Vampire Guard', 'Quarry' was a must.

**I received this ARC for my honest feedback.**

Man, I actually think this might be my favourite novel out of this author's works. There was the perfect amount of action, romance, sexy scenes, dangers, and of course tension to make each page addictive. The story is really well written and thorough, and I thought this was the perfect second book to the series. I highly suggest check this out if you've enjoyed her other work or are looking for something new and exciting.

I loved this book even more than the first one. Not having to struggle to remember who the characters were was a plus as was the flashbacks that recounted how the four MCs met and how their lives became interconnected. The mystery and action was just as good as book one.

Quarry is the second in The Vampire Guard series and stood perfectly on its own. There were enough references and anchors to the histories of the characters and their organization that I didn’t feel like I was tossed into the middle of a story already underway. The other thing that stood out for me was the story had little to no romance. All the relationships were in place, but there were no behind-closed-doors erotic moments where we got to see that side of the characters’ relationships.

While all the characters seemed to play a central role, at least the four main protagonists that comprise Team Jack Rabbit, the relationship between Jonas and Blaire seemed central to me. In particular, this book had a feel of belonging to Blaire. It was he who learned secrets about his past. He who shifted from the safety of tech surveillance to front line action. And he who seemed to garner the greatest amount of resolution in terms of becoming whole and being able to move toward a bright and happy future. Not that the other characters didn’t also have satisfying endings, but Blaire’s was the most pronounced for me, which I enjoyed.

What this book does is present a good old fashioned mystery-thriller. Team Jack Rabbit is commissioned to deal with a rogue and very old vampire who seems to have taken on a God complex, determining he can do whatever to whomever he wishes, whenever he desires. His age gives him strength and speed, so much so that there is doubt as to whether the team can overcome this dangerous threat. Add to the mix that he’s had a personal hand in turning at least two of the main protagonists and killed another one’s father, and we have a villain of great proportion.

The storyline itself moved at a rapid pace, but there was enough story that it took me all of Memorial Day weekend to get through. Of course, part of that was plans getting in the way of reading, but also, there was a lot to this story. Having so many characters and each one having multiple aliases made keeping track of who was doing what confusing at times. Add to that the time jumps from one chapter to another (and sometimes within chapters), and I had to stop and process every once in a while before moving on. But once the main confrontation forms and unfolds, the storyline tightens, following a more sequential plotline.

Elizabeth Noble’s writing style iss easy and natural, pleasant and not overdone. Humor and technical details also reveal that the author has a skillful way of breathing life into her characters, making them full and vibrant.

All in all, I enjoyed this book and have put book one, Code Name Jack Rabbit, on my to-be-read list.

Review:
This is the second book in The Vampire Guard series. It is series where vampires, werewolves not only exist but co-exist among humans. This particular group is working to try to figure out the reason for the explosion that imploded a building that was in the final stages of construction. They also need to figure out how and why all electronic devices stopped working in the area during the time of the implosion. I did not read the first book in this series nor did I read the original series that this series is a spin-off of. That didn’t seem to matter because although this is part of a series, each book reads as a stand alone. I enjoyed the intense action and high drama story. There is true soul mate chemistry as well and strong friendships that have formed with this close-knit group. The pacing is fast, explosive, with many twists and connections to the past events that started centuries ago. The ending was equally exciting full of high action. The best part of this book are the individual characters and the bonds that they have with one another. There is strong character development where we learn how they became the creatures that they are and how events in their pasts played a strong part in bringing them together.

We are once again back with the Vampire Guard in Elizabeth Noble's Quarry. This is book two in her Vampire Guard series.

This book had a lot of twists and turns that really kept the story hopping. Of course, entwined with all of that are the four guys: Forge, Declan, Blair, and Lucas. They really are a great ensemble. I was really happy we got more background on these guys. As we see how then all connet with each other we, as a reader, build a better relationship with them.

This book really focuses on the story and mystery. It's not a sex filled book at all. We generally see vampire and werewolf and assume rough alpha sex! But not here. It didn't take away from anything though.

I liked Quarry better than book one and I really think it was due to the fact the author really gave us more depth to the characters with the back story. I think you could read this book as a standalone but you'd be missing out. You really should read book one Code Name Jack Rabbit. I know there's another series where we first see these guys but I never read it so I don't know how pertinent it is to this. I would tell you that me reading this one and book one of this series found it to be plenty as we got into the thick of it with these guys.

This is the second book in the Vampire Guard series and, like the first one, it hits the ground running in terms of plot and story development. I liked the feeling of getting caught up in the events and the suspense— I don’t think there’s a dull moment in this story and I was always really invested in seeing what would happen next. I enjoyed, too, seeing Forge, Blair, Declan, and Lucas work together: they play well off each other’s strengths and are all necessary to face the challenges lined up for them with this assignment. Well worth a read.

Wow, I was surprised how this book turned out. I was expecting more about the fight against the Qiguan. But instead Elizabeth Noble brought together a few loose ends from "The Sleepless City" series. It was really cool to learn more about Declan's, Forge's and Blair's past and why things are the way the are. You don't need to read "The Sleepless City" books to understand "The Vampire Guard" series, but it sure wouldn't hurt and you'd get a better understanding of the universe the series plays in as a whole.
The book itself was fasted paced and thrilling. A few new characters were introduced and included seamlessly. I'm really curious what'll come next.

Holy moly, this was just as good if not better than Code Name Jack Rabbit! The Vampire Guard are back and are looking for a devious individual who will stop at nothing! With the first book, I felt like I was plopped down into a previous story, but this one was easier to follow. Overall, a fantastic read! The story was really well written, the pacing flowed so well that the story wouldn’t let me go, highly recommend.

Vampire Guard Vanquish

Second book in the series, but first by this author for me. While I felt that I didn't have some of the background Noble probably included but would have liked, the plot flowed and the multiple main characters grew. This alt-world has paranormal aspects unique to it, which enrich the story as the bad guy is challenged. I hope to read more of this series.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

I definitely have mixed feelings about this book. I picked it up because I was looking forward to seeing the continuation of the story for these guys. At the end of the previous book, they had just joined the Vampire Guard, so I was interested to see what would happen next. I had a few problems with this one, and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

Right off the bat, the story starts with a bang. Literally. The action-packed beginning had me on the figurative edge of my seat, and drew me into the story. I immediately was glad to see that this story is told from Blair and Declan’s points of view, as the first story was primarily their bond mates POVs. So I liked that we got to see things from their view as well. And I liked that we got a bit more history about these characters, seeing how they first met and bits of their past lives. That was something I felt was missing in the first book, so I was especially glad to see it here.

The characters are what really worked for me. I like the band of brothers Noble has created, and I loved that they are unique individuals who remained wonderfully consistent. As I said, getting to see Blair and Declan’s side of things was really great. And it definitely worked to give the story a more complete feel, especially when taken in conjunction with the series as a whole. And it was really great to be with the guys again, to see how things were evolving for them. This is really an ensemble story, for all that we only had two POVs, and Noble makes that work to the story’s advantage. Add to that a whole host of engaging and interesting secondary characters, and it makes for a good story.

Independent reviewer for Divine Magazine, I was gifted my copy of this book.

Lucas, Declan, Blair and Forge find themselves chasing a thief who is using technology they haven't seen before. It's not long before they realise that they have met before, ALL of them, and they might not be where they are now if they hadn't. But the vampire needs to be stopped, at all costs.

I enjoyed this one much more than Code Name Jack Rabbit, and for one reason only: we get back story here. We get how Lucas ran over Simon and met Forge. We get how Declan met Forge. We get how Blair came in contact with them all. And I LOVED that!! I was missing that in Jack Rabbit, I really was.

This book is also much more active. There is more action, more fighting, more running around chasing the bad guy. More of the Vampire Guard are here too. Two more teams, of four people in each but I can't remember all their names! I'd love to get more about them, though. I'm left wanting to know more about those pairings and how they came about.

I loved the way the vampire thief's history was so closely intertwined with our four's, and really, had it not been for said vampire, they really might never have met.

It is, again, clean. But I really am not complaining. These guys are very private about that and I love them for it. What I did love though, was Forge and Blair getting married. Loved being part of that.

Can't quite stretch to 5 stars, but we have crept up from the 4 for Jack Rabbit to...

4.5 stars

Forge (Jonas), Blair, Declan and Lucas are back to solve another case for the Vampire Guards. This books starts with a bang and it just keeps on coming. Forge and Blair are bonded vampires and Declan, a vampire, and Lucas, a werewolf are also bonded and they share something more that just their bonds between them on this case. Little do they know that the man that they are hunting has played a major part in all of their lives for over 300 years.

I am a tech geek and boy does this book really bring out the geek in me. Blair, the tech wiz really gets to let his talents shine in this book. Without his knowledge, I don't think they would have been able to get this case solved.

I was expecting a little heat in this book, especially between Forge and Blair when they decided to take their relationship, even though they are bonded, to a different level. But alas, that didn't happen and I have to say I liked that everything wasn't centered around sexy time, but was actually all about solving this case.

In my opinion you can read this book as a standalone but I would highly recommend that you start from the beginning. And i don't mean just start with Code Name Jack Rabbit, but start with the Sleepless City series. There you will find how all these guys fit together, and I gotta say I really enjoyed that entire series and was super excited when she gave these 4 guys their own series.

Good addition to the series and I can't wait for the next book. Heavy on action, no sex, light on romance until the end and then it was romance in abundance. It was nice to read a book with gay characters that didn't focus on the bedroom. No cliffhanger, story was complete but I want more.
