Their mission is to uncover a massive horde of gold hidden by Winston Churchill during WWII. They are then to deliver the gold to its rightful owner: the Bank of England. The UK economy needs the gold, but the task proves to be impossible, as all of the secrets, legends, and facts surrounding it are hidden in the minds of aging soldiers sworn to secrecy. It gets even more complicated when information about their quest is leaked to dangerous parties, who will now stop at nothing to seize the treasure for themselves.Time is of the essence, and Jim, Geordie, and Ivan find themselves scouring the UK countryside, searching barns, caves, railway tunnels, and even old churches long-protected by Churchill's Secret Army, so as to find the precious gold before it gets into the wrong hands.

Nigel Seed's second book is as good as his first. Got this as soon as it came out, and read it immediately. The three ex-Royal Engineers (Jim, Ivan and Geordie) are back; this time, trying to recover the UK's mislaid gold reserves. Their adventure takes them to many places in England; and those which I know well are described very accurately. The twists, turns and surprises keep coming - right to the very last pages. This author has me hooked now and I'll definitely be looking out for his next book. His plots are excellent and I like the way he sets out the historical basis for his stories at the end of each book.
Major Wilson and his team are back with a mission to find lost gold, hidden by the British Government during World War11. There are great descriptive prose, bringing alive the English countryside in colourful detail. Each of the characters have been even more developed in this second book. This is a fast paced plot with some very interesting subplots. NO SPOILERS!
As with the first book V4, that are some great twists and turns. This is a classy thriller that doesn't miss a beat throughout.
