Ellie King has a plan. Do well in her Senior year at high School before going to study in London, England. That's all she wants in her immediate future.
Writing to John Davids not only cements her desire to study in the UK, but gives her more of a reason to leave her family in the US.
M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, two kids and a dog. She often procrastinates by listening to music of all genres and trying to get ‘just one more paragraph’ written on whichever WIP is open; she is also a serious doodler and chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love ever since she could spell, and publishing is the final culmination of her hard work and ambition.
Her publishing career began with two novellas, and she currently has multiple projects under way, in the hopes that her portfolio of what have been described as “everyday love stories for everyday people” will continue to grow. Always having something on the go can often lead to block which eventually gets dissolved by good music and an even better book.
Her main reason for writing is to not only give her readers enjoyment, but also to create a story and characters that stay with readers long after the book is finished, and possibly make someone stop and think “what if . . . ”
Ellie And John are enrolled in a pen pal exercise by there schools and soon become firm friends.
I have love the exchange series from book one and it's quirky and unique way of telling a story through a diary, emails and now letters. Bringing old school back. What I like is that it loses nothing and you still get everything you need from the characters and the story arc. M B's writing is fabulous and doesn't disappoint.
This is the exchange from Ellie the daughter of Holly and Aiden from book 1 and John and it's witty, engaging and my favourite yet, but that epilogue and that ending !!! As always I need more !
The whole exchange series is a great read but this one deserves the 5 star rating I loved it
In this final installment of The Exchange Series, we meet Ellie - the offspring of Holly and Aiden back in Dear Diary. Though a culmination of the series, it could still be read as a standalone; but the rest of the series gives background of course and builds the characters up.
Ellie, a student in the States, is paired up with John, a UK college student, for their final year project of writing to each other as penpals. They get to know each other via a series of letters, until they finally end up meeting and sealing their fate...
It was a lovely end to the series, with it finishing in a similar way to how it began, many years ago with the same family. 5*
Ellie King is in grade 12 and is starting her senior year. Her English professor has an assignment that involves writing letters to students in Brighton, UK and Ellie is paired up with John Davids.
Soon Ellie finds her friendship with John growing and with Ellie planning on going to school in the UK after she graduates the two continue their friendship.
Will Ellie and John be able to move their friendship into something more when she goes to London or do they discover they are better off as friends?I
This was such a great ending book for this series.
I loved the circle that has Ellie headed back to England where her mother began. I also loved the writing of letters and I wish we did more of that these days as we rely so much on technology.
I liked how John and Ellie really started their friendship with no expectations and the end of the book!
Ellie King is 18 years old and on her last year of High School. With a final assignment due, she doesn't expect what was about to come...
Excerpt: In this technological age, handwritten letters are a rarity and this saddens me, so I am to bring them back; even if only for one semester.
With Ellie and John being pen pals we see their relationship flourish and develop. It really captured me heart and soul if I'm honest. Both of them so endearing and honest in their feelings for one another.
With their futures ahead of them, will they make each other a part of it?
One of my favourite reads of the exchange series for me. Just loved the whole thing.
Really enjoyed the exchange series and this just topped it all off.. what a fantastic little read from M.B. Feeney. Ellie and John become penpals for a school assignmemt and we see a solid friendship develop which slowly but surely we see turn to something more.. will an ocean between them mean thats all it will be? a letter.. a videocall... or will Ellie's dream to study in the UK where her grandparents live be realised? really warmed to these characters and wanted the perfect ending for them.. I'll let you find out for yourselves if they got it ! definite 5* read for me.
Usually when someone would read the title of a letter addressed as Dear John, it can't be good. But in this story Ellie starts writing to John Davids from England as a school project. As they write back and forth, they begin to first a friendship that grows to more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading John and Ellie's story.
