I really enjoyed the historical blurbs and the nutritional information throughout this book. It was fun to see the original recipes next to the healthier options as well. I tried a few of these out while reading it and got some great ideas for meals. Definitely worth the read
I plucked this book right off my not-yet-mother-in-laws kitchen shelf. Her son and I had just moved in to our own apartment and I wanted to cook something other than stove-top stuffing and Campbell's cream of mushroom soup. This is the next step up. But not by too much. There's nothing in here that will challenge your taste buds. In fact, I think they consider cheddar cheese a spice. Still, it does a great job of letting new cooks feed unadventurous college boyfriends.
