You're Not Really A Couple Until

Rate this book
This book is a fearless, authentic look at long-term relationships and what they entail, from the ridiculous fights couples have to the awesomely cheesy proclamations they make and the micro-milestones they reach along the way. When you commit to building your life with another person, there are countless ups and down and awkward moments in between. You're not really a couple unless you're primed to enjoy—or at least survive—the entire ride.

The heart wants, what the heart wants.

“When you’re feeling super sexy and you debut your look expecting to be showered with compliments but your partner’s expression immediately crushes all your hopes.”

“When your sex drives fall out of sync and one person desperately wants to get laid while the other just wants to curl up and go to sleep several days in a row.”

“When someone brings their work problems home and the other wants to have a nice relaxing evening but it’s impossible because their partner won’t stop bitching about his or her colleagues and/or a frustrating project.”

“When anyone’s ex comes back into the picture—because you bump into them on the street or because a text is received or a Facebook photo pops up—at a bad time (i.e. at any time ever).”

“When you choose to be with your significant other over doing something you truly love because it’s worth sacrificing just about anything to be with them.”

“When you realize that doing nothing together at home is your normal and that anything else feels like a major to-do requiring way too much energy.”

“When your partner explains that they’re upset at someone—a friend, acquaintance, colleague, or family member—and before they can explain why, you’ve already taken their side because your sense of allegiance knows no bounds.”

I thought this would be a lot funnier or cheekier than it really was. Kind of disappointed because I usually love Thought Catalog.
