No victory comes without cost. For Alexandra Hensley, that cost was crippling. She has no time to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart as another test of courage looms; the nightmare no one saw coming.
The Shadow Killer is unlike anything Alex has encountered. As vampire allies join the hunt for him, she realises the paranormal is no longer being hidden. The secret is out and spilling onto the streets.
When it seems they are closing in on the killer, his true intent is discovered.
There is a way to defeat him. There is always a way. But there is always a price. Time is running out and the choice must be made. What would you give up to save the person you love the most?
I love writing adult paranormal fiction. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts... oh my. I've been writing since I was 11 but I've always been a dreamer... often getting caught staring off into space as I created stories in my mind.
One of my stories, Night Walker (Undeadly Secrets Series Book 1), won the 2017 Golden Stake Award at the International Vampire Film and Arts Festival held in Transylvania annually. I'm still quite chuffed about walking away with it after facing some great contenders.
Currently there are 6 books in the Undeadly Secrets Series, 3 books in the Undisputed (MMA Romance) series and 2 Independents short stories plus a brand new series beginning with Owned By The Mafia, released in 2023
I'm so proud of the fact both Undisputed and Unbroken both won the same award a year apart from each other. *TOP 50 INDIE BOOKS OF THE YEAR*
My favourite activities include spending time with family, watching my beloved St George Illawarra Dragons, popping into the movies for the latest blockbusters, going to the gym for my dream body. Or just a body. Anything, really.
Speerzie... book daddy. Baby daddy x 2. Simply irresistible
If you’ve been following my journey of discovery into the Speer-verse, you’ll know how much I fell in love with it in book one, Night Walker. My love for this series has only grown with each additional book. However, before I continue to extol the virtues of this author, the awesome world he keeps dumping me into, and the incredible characters he created, I have to air my one grievance. Yup, you read that right. I only had one issue and if I don’t get it off my chest right now, I’m gonna explode.
Ok… here goes… mildly spoilery (it’s a word)...
I need the scenario between Alex, Dante and Michelle to end. NOW!! To say I wasn’t thrilled with where this part of the story was going would be an understatement. I finally got Dante and Alex to admit their feelings for one another. FINALLY!! And yeah, a freaking demon was wreaking havoc and matters became life or death for all of Australia, but did Michelle have to literally infuse herself into the situation? Why??? Why couldn’t she be the better person, as much as Dante and Alex always were, and just be happy for them? Why did Alex have to confuse the issue? Okay, I get it wasn’t really her but the demon, but c’mon!! Couldn’t Michelle figure out that what happened wasn’t normal? She herself said something was wrong with Alex! And Dante… how dare he imagine a future with both women when just a few scenes ago, he admitted that his feelings for Alex were the first of that depth he’s felt in a long time. Meaning… he didn’t feel that way for Michelle! So why is this happening??? Please… Aaron… for the love of all things otherworldly… please don’t do this to me in book four. Please!! All this did was disconnect me from them and leave a bad taste in my mouth.
In other news…
Mrs. Pam Nelson, in her review of this book (found HERE), mentions her new favorite vamp of the series - Lee Nightingale. And I can see why. Not only was he gorgeous, arrogant, and apparently the strongest vampire around, he was also someone not afraid to be who he is with absolutely no apologies. In my opinion, he had every right to be arrogant and I couldn’t help falling for him too. I can’t wait to see more of this man!
I loved every scene with Talia and Alicia. It was immediately evident that Alicia gave Talia the maternal comfort and affection that was missing from her own mother. It was obvious that her mother had an agenda that didn’t line up with hers. Was it only me who found that despite not being raised along with Nick, she was very much like him? I’m so excited to see how that reunion will go.
I didn’t have much love for Nicole in the previous book, but I came to like her in this one. I liked her fierce devotion to Nick and how protective she was towards the life they created together. As this new life creates its own substory, I’m increasingly interested in finding out how this will all play out.
The demon though??? This demon had me rolling!!! I laughed so freaking hard. The things that it said. The way it acted. Dayum!! I loved how the author illustrated the pull on Alex and the ferocity of her fight against evil. These scenes were intense, painful and highlighted all that was amazing about Alex and this author’s imagination.
Honestly, there was so much going on that I couldn’t help being captivated by this story. There was tons of action, tons of gore, tons of love, and tons of drama.
So yeah, that’s about all I have to say. This series is incredible. This story is phenomenal. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance, you NEED to get on this. If you haven’t started this series, I’m telling you right now… YOU’RE MISSING OUT!!
Release Date: April 11, 2017 Genre: Paranormal Romance/Thriller POV: Multiple - 3rd person Heat: 4 out of 5 Type: Book 3 of the Undeadly Secrets series
Ahhh, having to write a review of a book you love. Well it’s just plain hard! I don’t want to give anything good away, but I want to tell you how much I ❤‘d it!
If you have read book 1 or even book 2 then you’re going to want to pick this one up because it continues where the last one ended.
I loved all the feels I had throughout this book, from the highs, the lows, the sad, and the awe’d ones.
We need to take a minute here, as you can see I am having a time putting my thoughts down. Ok let’s just talk about my favorite characters and go from there.
Alex was freaking fantastic in this book. She was a fighter! She is one of my favorite female characters of these whole series so I was rooting right from book 1 for her. She deserves all the happiness and love. And if that’s Dante they so be it right.
As much as I like Dante he isn’t my favorite vamp… I know how, what, why, Pam!! Hahaha, well your will meet my favorite vamp in this book. He goes by the name Nightingal. He might be a little evil and but he totally cracks me up. You read it and tell me he isn’t a fantastic character. Who doesn’t love the bad boy. Ok he might be slightly more than bad. DON’T Judge me. :-p
Nicole, from book 2 wasn’t my favorite character… I know again PAM what are you thinking right. Well I just like Nick better. :-p But I am here to say Nicole grew on me; yep I liked her in this book. It took balls to do what she has and she too is a fighter and who wouldn’t like a fighter.
That ending… Ahhh I can’t wait for the next book. Mr. Speer has out done himself again and I am so glad I took a chance on a new author to me. His series is number 3 top Vampire/Werewolf series.. So if you’re a vamp freak like me.. Than take a chance.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*
***This book was provided by the author to Nerd Girl in exchange for an honest review***
BRAVO!! 100% perfection! As always Mr. Speer does NOT disappoint and ALWAYS delivers. This installment comes with its own unique plot of course. It continues the storyline from the previous books and continuing on our journey with our beloved Alex. Still determined more than ever to save people and stop the evil at hand. Although this particular foe is more than she expected. The supernatural secret is out and things get even more intense and complicated. Not to mention down right dangerous. With so much at stake my question for you (the reader) is... what wouldn't you do for the one you love?? I can not get enough of these characters. Not only because they are extremely relatable in an overall real setting, but because of the way the author portrays them. He has a simplistic way of capturing each characters uniqueness and individuality. He captivates the storyline and draws you in with each word. He takes page turner to a whole new level. With so many twists, turns, surprises and jaw dropping events.. This book with leave you with two things! Satisfaction and need. You will be satisfied with the book and you will have an intense need for more. If you haven't started this series yet, then I highly suggest you get to it. Hands down best book I have read this year. STANDING OVATION Mr Speer!! 5 STARS!!
So Twilight kind of made vampires and werewolves kind of sparkly and lame. Speer has made them vicious and scarily cool again! Seriously, he is one of the most skilled writers I know and never skimps on anything.
Back to the story... Dante started this series out as the baddest, coolest, sexist character ever created. Book two introduced us to the sweetest, almost innocent, but full of dark secrets character, Nick. Book three, however, has Lee who far surpasses the WTF factor and is the ultimate bad boy. Speer has created a thrilling story along with the best book boyfriends, a win, win because usually you get just one of those. The best part of this book, besides Lee (obviously), is the end. I just knew in my heart that the story would lead there and finally (FINALLY!!) it did. Now I need the next book because I have a few unanswered questions that are begging to be answered. I know Speerzie won't disappoint me and I have absolute faith in him.
I don't know quite where to begin.. there's just so much I want to say, but a lot of it would be spoilers and I am not giving away any of those secrets... they're all mine until you pick up the book and read it! This is the third book in the series (so far) and it was definitely my favourite one. I know I've said that after every book but it's true! They just keep getting better and better. The plot line is darker, more thrilling and mysterious. Excuse the bad pun but, the story was so good I really sunk my teeth into it. It was absolutely captivating. I'm making a club. An I Lote Aaron L Speer club.. I love his writing, his books, his stories... but I hate the fact it isn't longer!!! I NEED MORE!!!! That ending.... I have NEVER known an ending like it.. it was intense, it was heartbreaking, it was insane!!! This work of art will leave you breathless and salivating for more. PICK IT UP!!!!! READ IT!! REVIEW IT!! LOVE IT! #2OCCAB
Shadow Chaser is the much anticipated book 3 in the Undeadly Secrets Series. With all the hype leading up to the release of this book, I was wondering if the book could live up to my expectations and I can say it did and so much more. The story line continues from the first two books with just as much action if not more with the introduction of Lee Nightingal, the bad boy vampire. The new threat that everyone, vampire and human alike faces brings a whole new level of suspense and fear to this book. As expected from this author, the characters are very well developed and the book flows effortlessly and at a natural pace. This book had me hooked and turning pages needing to know what was going to happen next. I am now waiting for the next book in the series so find out what is next for these characters. This series is a must read for any paranormal fan.
>Book Review – Shadow Chaser >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 3rd in the Undeadly Secrets series and ends in a cliffhanger. This book is the goriest by far. The romance between Alex and Dante finally comes to fruition, but unleashes a deadly force that kills and rapes females. The story is hard to read due to scenes and descriptions of rape of women, children and Alex. The book has 2 separate plots: Dante, Michelle and Alex joining aboriginal forces to stop the demon and Nicole and the wolves. Nicole is pregnant. An evil Alpha wants her baby. Nick’s mother works with Nicole to save him. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. The ending was a real surprise. The battles had real consequences. The relationship between Michelle and Alex gets real and is the only thing I disliked. Even Dante saw a future with both women together.
I'm never going to be able to get the right words to tell y'all how amazing this book is. I've sat here and thought of 100 different words to describe it and the only one that sticks is phenomenal.
We get to see all of our favorite characters and meet new ones along the ways and if you look deep enough, not all the bad guys are bad. At least to me!
I can't wait to see where this author takes the characters and the plot. Each book gets better then the last. I'm normally a romance only reader but when I took a chance of this author 1 year ago, I instantly fell in love with his writing and his ability to tell this amazing yet heartbreaking yet strangely erotic story. Keep up the amazing work and I can't wait to see what's to come! 5 stars #2OCCJD
SENSATIONAL!! This book was unputdownable and freaking brilliant!! Aaron Speer has a way of pulling you in and captivating you with his plot twists and interesting story developments. This book gave me so many feels, I laughed, shouted, cheered, and even wanted to cry. You will be introduced to new characters, and reunited with the old; they are extremely well written and are complex, as well as very well developed. I will always be #TeamDante, however the introduction of Lee into the story had me intrigued and wanting to know more. I can't get enough of this series and can't wait for the next book! If you haven’t read this series yet, one-click and grab your copy you will love it!
This book, the third in the series, ties up the first two beautifully. Then adds a whole new dimension to what you think you know. Only for you to discover that there's a whole lot more going on than you could even begin to imagine. With even more characters added, you'd think it would become confusing, but they're either so obnoxious or evil, or even lovable, that you remember them and either cheer or boo them along the way. I couldn't put the damned book down and now I have to wait for the next one to come out and the wait is going to drive me crazy! Superb writing from Aaron L Speer.
This book was so good. So much happened. I could not put it down.
Nick is gone. Nicole is pregnant and not sure of what she wants to do. Decisions have to be made, and in that her life is about to change big time. Alexandra is dealing with losing Nick and missing Dante. She is trying to move through her life in the best way possible. Vampires, wolves, and the Forgotten are all fighting a battle that they have no idea about, until it is too late.
The Shadow Killer is among them and no one is safe. What will it take to make them safe again?
I freaking loved this book, it was so unlike anything else I have read this year. I loved the whole plot. We follow Alex from previous books and she tries to save people. I loved all the characters, they were just amazing. With all the twist and turns I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen. Once I got started I just couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this one, you need to read it.
Every book I read by this author gets more intriguing and more shocking. Seriously, how can you possibly outdo yourself? The shock factor is definitely there. I loved reading book 3 although I’m glad I did during the day with the lights on. This demon stuff was definitely scary and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone under 18. It’s very graphic in many ways. I seriously feel for Dante right now. Poor guy cannot catch a break. Great third book!!
Not one to normally read paranormal romance I am pleasantly surprised whenever i read one of the books in the Unreadily Secrets series because I am instantly captivated with this story. I am very glad I took a chance on this book series because the writing ability of this author is amazing and the story is incredible enjoyable.
It took me a little bit longer to get into this part of the story because there were so many things going on. However, it definitely took off and had me turning the pages as fast as I could. This definitely had all the feels, bad guys that weren’t even the worst things out there, twists, shocks, steam... and damn that ending!
Book 3 and things have finally gotten steamy. I enjoyed this book a lot more than the previous 2 in the series. It has me intrigued as it where the story will go next.
This book was kind of difficult for me to get thru , which is unusal for me because I like reading pretty much anything so nothing really bothers me to much but for some reason this book just did not reach me the way the first two did .. I really enjoyed the first two they fell right into the normal reading flow of intrigue, love, desire, action, suspense, drawing you in and leading you to the happiness you the reader wanted to find.. :)
However this 3rd book, I was not so happy with.. Don't get me wrong ...I did Like it .. I just did not Love it ... this creature and this new character the author reveals to us readers were not to my liking the first he introduces is this Nightingale character .. self centered, Mysogynistic, arrogant jerk, whom I took a dislike to from the start.. then there is this Horrible creature called "the shadow" a very evil personna that is seeking the innocent of Goodness personified..
Would Dante do anything for love? And while all this is playing out Nicole has her own problems to deal with. This book is so full of action you simply can't put it down. There are twists and turns to keep you interested all the way through. both factions of fighting forces have to come together on this one to overcome and survive and bring peace to the city of Sydney.. If you haven't been reading this series then Honestly you really need to. The characters involved you can't help but grow to love them, this author has made them complex yet some so likable. Amazing work once again and I look forward to reading the rest of this series
this story will leave you feeling raw and very emotional. you get a little romance and a loads of fear. fear, anger, overwhelming joy, wonder, incredibly creeped out due the disturbing scenes scattered in various places, curiosity, and anguish, and then back to more happiness and anger toward the ending. even during some of the more disturbing parts, you feel the need to fight through your own emotions to get to the next scene because the book does get better. and the rest of the story is just too awesome to pass up, so please do yourself a favor and keep reading, and I'm glad I did!! This isn't your average romance novel, this is fantasy merged with reality and it immerses you in a world all it's own. Read this series! Read the books! Shadow Chaser is one of those books that I put off writing a review for right away. Why? you ask .. Was it so bad I couldn't contemplate writing about it? No! It was very good, I just needed time to contemplate what I wanted to say. It's the third installment in the Undeadly Secret Series .... you have to keep reading and discover the truth for yourself....
Wow, so much going on in this 3rd book!!! This series just keeps getting better for me!!! Loved it from start to finish, some great new characters in this one!!
Like I said, there's a lot going on..... the Shadow Killer is on the prowl attacking and raping woman; Dante is trying to run his new kingdom better than Vincent did; Nicole is carrying Nick's baby; Talia takes over as Alpha of the pack and ends up meeting Alicia; and that's not half of it!!
The Shadow Killer is ripping the women to bits, it takes The Forgotten to get involved before we discover just what it is and that its going to take the combined strength of the vampires and the Aborigines to defeat it, who have also taken Matt into their fold and are training him up to be a vampire killer.
Dante and Alex finally admit their feelings for one another and get their freak on, but it is then that this Shadow Killer takes on a whole new meaning for Dante, as Alex is put in mortal danger.
I loved Nightingale, what a hoot he is!! Massively strong, cocky, arrogant and very funny to boot!! His one liners and banter had me howling! I can't wait to see more from him.
Nicole grew on me in this one as she battled to keep Nick's baby that is growing inside her. Strong, fierce and protective of her baby, she was determined to keep it safe, against all the rest of the pack that were determined to end her child. Alicia took on a very motherly role for Talia in this one, as her own mother is just not on the same page and is bitter and horrible. Looking forward to seeing how the pack will move forward after this.
I loved how the demon was portrayed, the way the author has it interacting with its host, the fights between them as the demon tries to take over and the whole communication going on, the fight between good and evil, it was quite intense!
Then we have the big reveal right at the end, and I was like YESSSSS!!! I knew it, that character was too good to have just disappeared!!!! Can't wait to see what happens there.
All in all another fantastic and captivating read for me, lots of action, gore, blood, fighting and the supernatural element going on, can't wait to read the next one!!
In the third installment of the Undeadly Secrets series there is more: more action, more romance, more characters, more intrigue... just more everything. Shadow Chaser picks up where Day Dreamer left off with Nicole on her way to England, Nick gone, Alex and Dante separated by sorrow, and a new player, Talia, who is a great big question mark.
Aaron L. Speer kicked up the intensity by skillfully integrating all that came before in books 1 & 2 while adding in a new and very deadly enemy with no face but with a overactive need for death. The story's scenes go from the different characters' circumstances, such as Alex dealing with crippling grief and guilt, Nicole finding she has a decision to make, Alicia creating an unlikely alliance, all while an evil entity threatening to turn Sydney into a graveyard . Each new glimpse ratchets up the danger and emotions creating a maelstrom for the heroes of Chaser while pulling the reader deeper into the story. You will HAVE to know what happens and who survives. Be prepared for several "gasp" moments and more than one tear jerking scenes.
Speer has hit his stride in his tale telling. His characters are richly, colorfully written with complex interwoven plots. Shadow Chaser in NOT a standalone. Nightwalker and Day Dreamer must be read first though all three are completely worth the one-clicks.
No, no, no, noooooooooo! I think he broke me! My heart is shattered. That may sound dramatic to some but whenever I read a book, I am invested, my feelings are invested......and this author has wrung every emotion from me as I have read this series so far. Those that have read this series will understand.....and those that haven't, well you need to read it ASAP! The storm outside my window matches the storm raging in my heart and my mind. I tell you, this will break you but in the best way. In this, the third book in the Undeadly Secrets series, something is coming, something so big and evil that is going to test the strongest of characters. This author is truly a master of weaving his words, making you feel everything and believe me, I did. I literally sat there, hugging my kindle. Yep, that's me rocking in the corner whilst I try and process what happened! Gosh I am looking forward to Book Four.....if there is going to be a Book Four! Please let there be a Book Four!!
I enjoyed this book more than the previous ones. It pulls you in with more new players yet is well paced and very intriguing from the start. We begin with Alex and the main gang working out what to do next while dealing with a new mysterious serial killer on the rise as Nicole starts a new adventure abroad. While Dante gives Alex some space and time to grieve, not understanding they need to stick together now more than ever before. We meet Lee Nightingale who has you wanting to know more about him and all his craziness. All the new characters are well developed and you either love/hate them. There are so many things going on you’ll lose it, if you don’t pay attention. However, it definitely captivates your attention with all the undergoing stories. We have many different POVs and scenes going on at the same time, so it’s easy to miss important details. The plot twists will have you hooked and second guessing yourself often. And of course we end with yet another cliffhanger! Overall I really like this book and can’t wait to see what happens next
Shadow Chaser begins right where we left off in Day Dreamer, and it's a non-stop ride full of action, emotion, and discoveries. I enjoyed this book much more than the previous one and now I need the fourth installment. One thing I really liked about the story, in general, is the sub-plots and undergoing stories, we have different points of view and scenes going on at the same time but it all fit perfectly.
Nicole had an important role in book two but I think that now she is key to what's next. Her situation brings new "complications" and her life is interest for many actors. I like the evolution we see in most of the characters. This time we have a really dark force, that has been acting since previous books but now we know who/what is and what it wants.
I really enjoyed this book, the author continues using his good writing and talent to create a solid and detailed story.
*** I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. ***
Omg I've loved this series so far and this book hasn't left me disappointed. I've been curled up biting my nails reading it. Why? Watching this story unfold. There is a shadow stalking women, looking for the right one and once he finds her all hell breaks loose and boy does this lead to a battle that will test them all but it comes at a high price. Would Dante do anything for love? And while all this is playing out Nicola has her own problems to deal with. This book is so full of action you simply can't put it down. There are twists and turns to keep you interested all the way through. If you haven't read this book you really need to. The characters involved you can't help but love them, this author has made them appear so real. Amazing work once again and I look forward to reading more of this fantastic series.
Sooooooo I tried to pick a day when I didn't have too much on considering what happened with the last book....stayed up till 3am finishing it as I just couldn't put it down! I'd call that a success. Loved it! New character in this book, I'm not sure about them so will reserve judgement for now. I'm still waiting to see the play out of something that happened in the last book...Loved the twists and turns, they sucked me in so completely I almost couldn't breathe at the end. As for that ending....what the actual ****...these characters have gotten into my head and they aren't leaving just yet. Need the next book as I HAVE to know what's going to happen next. I'm full of ideas but I'm not sure where it's going to go. I have hopes but I know that it's probably not gonna happen....
Dante and Melina try to work out what happens now and where they go from here. While mourning the loss of Nick, Nicole starts her new adventure abroad. Alex and Dante don’t see much of each other while Dante gives Alex time to grieve Nick, although they eventually realise they need each other. Melina see Lee Nightingale attacking women, everything points that he could be killer they are looking for, but seems that Lee is just after some fun. Although you only see a bit of Lee you can tell he’s a bad boy. While they are looking for the mysterious killer it seem they have more to deal with, and Dante has to make a decision that affects not only his life but the ones he loves. The ending although some questions are answered leaves you need the next book to find out more answers.
Well this one got my attention especially since I have read the previous one. This series is turning out to be quite the read to grab you. What comes to light so to speak in this one is part of the weave of the story that keeps giving. Alexandra is the one we follow to get the scoop with things escalating. Not though to say there is not more characters that make this glorious read up which there is. Talia being just one of them that captures your attention. There is also a bit of humor in times of distraught thanks to it being a bit sarcastic with whom could do that the best aka demon lol. All in all you are back in this world becoming more embroiled and less likely to want to wait patiently for the next one.
Holy sh*t I wasn't sure I was going to survive this book! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, praying for miracles, and terrified my favorite characters wouldn't make it from one scene to the next! My heart was in my throat, and at times, I had tears in my eyes. Aaron Speer reminded me why I first fell in love with paranormal romance with this series! The excitement, mystery, and action, as well as the angst and uncertainty, kept me hungry for more of these characters. Proof of the author's talent is evident in his ability to juggle so many characters as well as their individual storylines while also progressing the overall ARC. I can not recommend this series enough. Now let's see if I can survive book 4!
OMG!! If you haven't read any of the Undeadly Series, then back up and go get them first! Night Walker is book 1 and Day Dreamer is book 2. Oh and heads up, don't plan on participating in the real world until you have read all 3!! This book is amazing!! The whole freakin series is brilliantly written, with Australian history beautifully woven into the story. It will keep you hostage until it spits you out the other side. BUT WHAT A RIDE!!! The characters face more battles, choices made, chances taken, unlikely hero's pop up, betrayals felt, desperation shown, redemption promised and hope felt. I cannot wait to go on this journey again!!
