Great Children’s Book

I purchased this for my six-year-old grandson who wants to be Lebron James when he grows up! He dressed as Lebron for the school’s character book parade on Halloween. He was required to read the book, complete a one page book report and give an oral presentation. Aside from the fact that Lebron is a great player, my grandson was amazed at Lebron’s philanthropy.

I was not a fan of basketball or LeBron James but this short book may have changed my mind. I had no idea about the struggles his mom had as a single parent. I think it was great that his coach helped him out so much as a child. All little boys want to play for the NBA. This story shows the hard work and discipline he had to have in order to be a good athlete. He had to follow rules, do well in school and then he was allowed to play. Children need boundaries and caring adults to help them achieve the dream like LeBron, to one day be King!

I Had No Idea

I'm not an avid sports fan. I love sports, but I'm not a fanatic. I can't tell you stats about each player or where they grew up. So, when I had the chance to read this book, I said why not? I learned many things about LeBron James that I never knew. And the best part was that it was highlighted by both illustrated drawings and actual pictures from his life. The incorporation of real and fantasy, in terms of the pictures, really got my attention. I felt like it was more than just a book but an actual peak into his life growing up.

This is the biography of NBA star LeBron James. The story speaks to his childhood upbringing and the influential people that helped him overcome different life obstacles such as having to move 5 times in 3 months because of poverty. This book can be used for elementary aged kids because it teaches that with some sacrifice, much determination, and great perseverance, dreams can come true!

I would use this book as an opportunity for students to think about sports or things they're good at and record them. Their gifts could be there reality just like LeBron.

LeBron James is one of the most influential sports stars of our time, and this book allows young children to learn his life story. He had a hard life growing up and many children can relate to the situations he went through. I think this book is inspiring for children because, despite the troubles in our life, we can overcome them and do great things. This book teaches a good lesson and also shows that it is important to give back to those around us. I think this would be a great book in any elementary classroom.

Lebron James: The Boy Who Became King

This book is about the life of Lebron James, and the struggles that he went through when he was growing up. Readers can be inspired by this book because of the difficulties that Lebron went through, and they way he perceived and overcame them to become on of the best athletes of all time. It also shows that no matter how big someone can get, it doesn't have to change them. Lebron is the same kid that he grew up being, "just a kid from Akron" with a big heart for those who do not have a lot.

Ok book

Pretty good but could use more detail. Doesn’t have all important details about LBJ. I might recommend this to someone else.

I chose this rating for the book because there were amazing illustrations and it was a steady book on basketball for beginners.
