Working both sides of the dirty love business? No problem ... until they collide.
Gia Keats works both sides of love’s dirty business. Some days are spent at Silhouette Bridal Boutique, helping brides prepare for their delusional walk to happily ever after. Other days she clocks hours for Duplicity, spying on cheaters and crushing their plans for future trysts. The two jobs are a solid reminder to ignore the dead thing inside her chest and to stay out of love’s sight. She never expected to get caught.Love is also pretty far down on Mark Foster’s priority list. The closest thing he’s had to a relationship was two nights with a hottie tourist looking for an unforgettable vacation bang. But after he catches a gorgeous local spying on a public make-out session, his sour view of long-term turns a little sweet. He’ll even ignore the odd coincidences that follow her for a taste of the L word.Falling for Mark’s charm would be easier than choosing a single item from a dessert menu, but Gia knows love’s never that simple. When an anonymous Duplicity client hires her to target a Silhouette bride and groom, both sides of the business collide. And Mark’s ties to the bride are the icing on the screwed up cake.
J.M. Miller lives on Florida’s Emerald Coast with her husband and daughter. When she isn't spending time with her family or being distracted by social media sites, she writes contemporary and fantasy romance novels.
“So, you’re the one.” “Wha..at?” “The one my mom warmed me about when I was younger. That one girl who would come out of nowhere, grab hold, make me feel something I never had before, then rip me apart with some unfathomable truth.”
Sometimes it’s nice to just sit and lose yourself in a nice easy read. You know the ones? They’re loaded with romance to make you swoon, entertainment to sweep you away, a little bit of suspense to keep your interest piqued, a -to die for- gorgeous hero, a bit of fun and some steamy heat, and voila…Spied by J M Miller provided the sweet romantic comedy type read we were in the mood for.
So what’s it about? After being hurt, humiliated and cheated on by her boyfriend, Gia Keats has become quite cynical about love, trust and fidelity, and as for marriage…well, that’s not for her – she would never trust someone enough to give her heart away again. How ironic then that she helps run the family Bridal Boutique.
“Do you think it’s possible to regret something you haven’t done yet?”
Being around blushing, gushing brides isn’t Gia’s idea of a career so on the side she runs an informal PI type company called Duplicity where she is hired to get the dirt and expose cheating partners or keep tabs on those wayward straying cheating scoundrels. Only her sisters Viv and Kass know about her other occupation and Gia is good at her job using word of mouth recommendations only.
One day whilst on a stakeout and enjoying some ‘special’ air conditioning time heehee, she meets Mark Foster, who was, refreshingly, a sexy Maintenance man who has many talents…he’s hot, witty, sweet, sexy and he bakes!! He’s a right catch! But Gia doesn’t need any distractions, she wants to concentrate on her career and guard her heart.
“I’ve been trying to stay away because it all scares me. Starting over. Trusting someone.”
Oh but Mark isn’t easily brushed off and as luck would have it, Gia and Mark’s paths would cross quite regularly due to Mark being practically related to one of Gia’s ‘suspects’.
This was a case of catch and mouse and whilst we did figure out what was unfolding early on, it in no way impacted what was a fun, flirty and entertaining read. We adored all the characters, we swooned over Mark and we giggled over the hijinks and witty banter between the characters.
“I’m a mess.” “You are.” His arms cinched around me for a moment then his hands moved to my face, tipping my chin up to look into my eyes. “But you’re my mess. My smart and sexy mess.”
If you’re in the mood for something quick, sweet, sexy and light-hearted, Spied will definitely fit the bill. This is the first time reading this authors work and it most definitely won’t be our last. She gave us quite a few giggles along the way and most importantly, she put a smile on our faces.

I am so behind on this review. And the only things I have to blame it on is summer and a very needy 2yr old. Because one thing is for sure…it certainly wasn't the book's fault. Oh no. This book was so much fun, very steamy, and a lot of mysterious. It had characters that I clung to from the start and a plot that kept me hooked the whole time. Yep, this book had it all.
Seriously. This book was so much fun. I loved Gia and the predicaments she constantly found herself in with her job. The Duplicity job, not the family bridal store she also works at. And it all starts after meeting Mark. Always priding herself for being professional and getting the job done, things can't help but go awry after their first meeting. She can't seem to think straight when it comes to him; putting her business and her future at stake.
Mark is very charming and definitely brings the steam to the story. I adored him the whole book and loved how he absolutely flustered Gia multiple times throughout. These two are fabulous together. Absolutely fabulous.
The mystery surrounding the job that Gia takes on really had me guessing. I really wanted it all to work out for the good of the characters, but I also wouldn't have minded seeing it go south either. I have a heart, it's just that I enjoy a little turmoil and drama in my reads. And in the end, I got to thinking how great it would be to see a story emerge from another character and her new connection with Duplicity. A series? I can only hope.
Add this book to your TBR list for the summer and quickly!! Summer is halfway over. I can promise you will enjoy it with no regrets. I know I did. Plus, this author is amazing with her ability to write in so many genres...makes for interesting reads that never bore. So go ahead and pick up her other works as well. 5 Witty, Charming, Intriguing Stars!
I had eagerly been waiting to read this and was finally able to download it onto my tablet after some technical issues! And OMG was it worth the wait! With the descriptive wording, I had an immediate imagine of what the characters looked like and if I had to cast it as a major motion picture, I know which actors I would choose! I loved Mark from the beginning. He sounds like the guy every girl needs: hot, passionate, gentle, romantic and stubborn. Gia was a lot of fun and I liked how she was independent and did her own thing. I also liked seeing her thought process on falling in love change as she got to know Mark better. The development of the characters and their relationships were very well written. I loved the plot and I cracked up many times because it could honestly be a day in the life of most people! It was a great read... funny, mysterious and romantic. I highly recommend it.
While I was searching for a lighthearted romantic comedy, Spied, by new-to-me author J.M. Miller, caught my eye. After reading the sample, I knew this was the kind of story I was looking for. What I didn't expect was how much I ended up loving it. The unique storyline kept me engaged and the pacing was on point. Mark was the kind of hero who was easy to fall in love with. He didn't have secrets, made a decent living and his family meant everything. Although Gia had been hurt before, it hadn't ruined what she wanted to do with her life. Their first encounter was hilarious and the fun banter between them lasted through the entire novel. Instead of a lot of meaningless angst, the obstacles they faced were handled with compassion and understanding. Their attraction started a slow burn that turned sexy hot with baked goods as an aphrodisiac. Along with all the sweet enjoyment, there is a mystery to solve which had me guessing until the end. I highly recommend this sexy and fun well written story.
Spied is deliciously fun, decadently sweet, and sinfully sexy! Only J.M. Miller can throw romantic comedy and a good old fashioned whodunnit into a blender and pull out nail-biting perfection. Gia and Mark had me laughing from page one!
Gia Keats had her heart broken in college, and it's stayed with her. She now works both sides of love's dirty business, by helping in a bridal shop during the day, and then clocking hours for Duplicity, outing all the cheating people. Both jobs make sure that she stays out of love's sight. But this all changes when she gets caught on one of her stakeouts, by a super hot maintenance man. Mark Foster has no desire to find love. He just hooks up with the hot tourists who are just looking for a good time. Things start to change the day he comes face to face with a woman spying a public make out session. He decides he has to get Gia to go out with him, but no matter how hard he tries, he can't get her pinned down. Mark even ignore all the suspicious sightings of her while he's doing all the activities for his sister's wedding. As Mark keeps at Gia, she realizes that she is falling for his charm, but she's still wary, as her newest job has her lying to him. Especially since he has close ties to the bride.
I had a hard time getting into this story, but after some chapters, I was hooked. The character development is good, with a colorful cast of secondaries. Gia and Mark's chemistry is flammable, and no matter how hard she tried to stay away, it finally explodes into SIZZLING sexy scene goodness that was awesome! Not to mention, Gia's activities while running into Mark, made for some hilariously place humor that had me rolling. J.M. Miller's talented writing style grew on me, as there came a point in the story that I couldn't put it down. Her added in twists and turns made for some great OMG moments that came out of left field, but they were tempered with humor that almost had me wetting my pants laughing. The ending was a bit rushed for me, as I wanted more of Gia and Mark, but I'm excited to read more by this author in the future!
This story was just a fun, light, entertaining romantic comedy that kept my interest through the entire book. You couldn't help but chuckle at some of the predicaments that Gia got herself into while spying on the cheaters. Mark was charming too.
This was a hilarious and sweet novel.Quiet better than what I was expecting since its the first book of the author's that I am reading.
This book follows Gia who works at her aunt's bridal boutique and also moonlights as an investigator for her company Duplicity which helps expose cheating spouses or significant others. This stems from a deep personal experience where she walked in on her boyfriend cheating on her.She literally takes part in both the sides of love. But contrary to her professions, she is neither too cynical or starry-eyed.
Mark works as a maintenance personnel catches Gia spying on a couple in a heavy makeout session and assumes that she is a voyeur.Flustered, Gia somehow manages to flirt her way out of this predicament and escapes. But she doesn't remain far from Mark's mind.Mark-who has never wanted anything more than a fling before, finds himself stuck thinking about this sexy, little voyeur whom he caught red-handed.Imagine the coincidence when Mark turns up with his sister at Gia's aunt's boutique for his sister's wedding dress fitting.
He is determined to wear her down and get her to accept a date. After a few tries Gia reluctantly considers accepting. But before she can do so, she gets a hefty offer to spy on a certain fiance whose wedding is coming up soon. And guess who it is?That's right! She has to spy on Mark's future brother-in-law!She tries her best to avoid Mark, but considering the fact that she has to spy on the very venues he shows up at, she can't do it.As Mark tries his best to convince her that they work well together, she finds herself slowly lowering her walls and falling for him.But in the end which choice will she make?Choose Mark and give up an assignment that could be a boon to her business or continue and break Mark's heart and trust?
This book was downright hilarious with the situations that Gia managed to land herself in.It also had the perfect mix of romance and steam.I absolutely loved the chemistry between Mark and Gia!It was perfect!Gia and Mark were also believable characters. The supporting cast that consisted of Gia's sisters,Mark's family and friends was also a wonderful addition.Things were neatly resolved by the end. So if you're in the market for a funny, steamy romance, look no further, since you will definitely enjoy it! :)
I was provided an Audible code for this book via the author, all opinions are my own. I had previously purchased a kindle version of this book, but had not read it yet. I've been a fan of the author's contemporary and fantasy novels for quite some time and this was a great romcom to read over the snowy, freezing cold weekend we are having here this weekend.
I thought the two narrators were excellent. They really brought Gia and Mark to life. This book really lent itself well to the dual narrated format alternating between Gia and Mark.
This was a hilarious romcom following an amateur private investigator Gia, who also helps out at her family's bridal shop. Gia was inspired to start a secret business to uncover unfaithful partners, after she herself was cheated on by someone she thought was "the one". She is pretty jaded about love and relationships, but she loves her family and aspired to be a real PI one day. While on a job she runs in to Mark, a maintenance man at a local resort. She escapes unscathed, but she and Mark will meet again sooner than she expects. Unbeknownst to her Mark's sister has ordered a custom wedding gown that her sister is making, and they keep running into each other after that.
Gia keeps showing up in unexpected places that Mark just happens to be at with convenient excuses. Turns out she is spying on Gia's fiancé, Guy, and Mark is at all of the prewedding festivities. As he gets pulled in deeper and deeper to Gia's antics, Gia feels worse and worse about lying to him about why she is always around. Gia is constantly finding herself in awkward situations in order to take pictures of her target, and Mark is always interrupting aka distracting her while she is on the job. These situations make for very comedic and sweet interactions between them as Gia tries to come up with a feasible explanation for why she is there in the first place and she tries to ignore her growing attraction to Mark. She is terrified to be hurt in another relationship, but Mark may just be the right guy to let in. His willingness to be patient with her and help her was endearing and their banter was excellent. This gets pretty steamy in parts so be prepared for that.
I enjoyed the cozy mystery aspect as Gia tries to determine if there is a scandal going on with the upcoming wedding or if everything is on the up and up. Her antics are pretty laugh out loud.
If you are looking for a cozy read this winter or a fun beach read this summer, I highly recommend picking this up in whatever format you prefer, it is available on Kindle Unlimited at the time of this post as well as paperback, audiobook, and ebook.
I haven't been this entertained by a book in a long time. I felt like I was watching a hilarious rom com. This is the story of Gia who is used to being invisible. She also isn't over her boyfriend cheating on her many months ago. These two factors lead her to start a by referral only business that catches cheaters. She is really good at what she does. Until she meets Mark. He sees her and around him she makes big mistakes. She tries to not fall for him. Because she doesn't buy into the love thing anymore. Even thought she does work at a bridal shop her family owns and runs. To make it more complicated she takes a job to watch Guy, a reality stare who just happens to marrying Mark's younger sister. While trying to catch Guy cheating she is also trying to hide from Mark who seems to be everywhere Guy is. While Gia is trying to give herself every reason in the book not to fall for Mark, Mark is doing everything he can to prove to Gia that she should give them a chance and not all men are cheaters. I enjoyed this book from front to back. Gia is hilarious. And the situations she gets herself into are pure comedy. And totally believable. And who does love a sexy & sweet heartthrob. Mark is easy to fall in love with. And as the reader you will root for him all throughout the book. I highly recommend this book. And I guarantee it'll be come of your favorites. It is definitely a book that can be read more than once. Like watching your favorite movie or show.
What a really fun read! Swoon away. This story is romantic and hilarious. The characters fit the plot perfectly and it was easy to follow. I mean really, I just couldn't stop laughing during the whole adult store moment. I really needed the laugh. Kinda wish it was made into a movie because the picture I created from the look on Gia face was enough to make me burst!
You'll become a Romantic convert after reading this adorable Rom/Com by it's sheer Sexual Tension alone. J. M. Miller's novel, "Spied" is a twisty tale of two confirmed singletons who become completely besotted with each other at First Sight. The Hero especially is ass over tea kettle helpless to resist the Heroine. The heroine, Gia, was cheated on by her last boyfriend and has not only sworn off men but believes that marriage and committed relationships are doomed to failure. This is a bummer considering that her day job is working in a wedding boutique started by her mother and aunt. Her brainchild night job is as a "cheater-finder". She gets hired to obtain photographic evidence confirming or clearing the accused "target" of cheating. Her company is called Duplicity and it is supplementing the wedding shop that is enduring some lean times. It's not only the people she catches cheating that confirms her feelings of unhappily ever after but she sees it at the wedding boutique as well. Countless brides come in with hearts and stars in their eyes only to be see later broken hearted and crushed not too long after their "I Dos". The hero, Mark Foster, is a confirmed bachelor. He's not had any bad experience with women, no bad break-ups, or too clingy stalker types he just happens to live and work in a place where there are plenty of tourists and which allows for no string, short term relationships. In other words - the perfect kind of relationship. He's not a cad, the women know the score since they know that they are leaving town - he's a vacation fling so it's win-win. But Gia and Mark's lives cross by chance a few times. The first time when she's on a job at the property where he works. He jokingly threatens to report her but she's concerned that he's sincere and it will affect the boutique's business she attempts so flirt which doesn't appear to work so she leaves before they can exchange names. He's disappointed because there was something about her that catches his attention and won't let go. The next time they meet is because Mark's sister is getting her wedding dress at the wedding shop Gia works at and her sister is designing and making the gown herself. Mark happens to accompany his sister, Pacey, for a fitting and he and Gia end up getting coffee, flirting, and this time he gets her name and her phone number. Unwittingly, their lives intersect in a more complex manner. Gia is hired to investigate Pacey's fiancé, Guy, to see if he's cheating. The anonymous person who wants Gia's investigative skills desires photographic proof at certain wedding festivities and at each event Mark will be there. And he invariably spots her each and every time. This makes dating and pursuing a relationship with Mark difficult because in order to maintain her anonymity, and keep him from hating her for possibly ruining his sister's wedding she has to continuously lie to Mark. Her continuously popping up wherever there is a wedding event such as the bachelor party or a guy's night Mark starts getting highly suspicious about exactly who or what Gia is after. Which is precisely what she was trying to avoid. Gia has to help Pacey have the perfect wedding while simultaneously possibly killing the wedding. The main characters are incredibly and adorably lovable. There are "I Love Lucy" situations that Gia finds herself in so that she can get the photographic evidence and also trying to keep Mark from recognizing her. The book is light on many highly descriptive sex scenes but the "intent" is there. There are sex scenes and they are steamy - they hit the spot without hashing out the nitty-gritty. For as much as Gia fights trusting men and relationships she can't shake the magnetic draw she feels for Mark. Neither Mark nor Gia can stop thinking about the other - they are obsessed. But not in the icky creepy way. Their banter is witty, comical, and smart. J.M. Miller gives the reader a twisty end to the investigation which gave you some red herrings here and there throughout the story. The hero and heroine in "Spied" are charming and engaging and you can't help but adore them and each and every caper that brings them closer together - usually in a clumsy and almost slapstick kind of way. The side characters: Mark's sister and Gia's sisters are fabulous relationship cheerleaders and add some levity as well as character perspective. Mark is the type of hero that you just want to toss down anywhere and smother him with kisses and snuggle with. Because you know that he's going to want to turn around and return the favor with some physical gratitude that has more oomph any place that's more private - then he'll want to snuggle some more. He's ever so dreamy. To read the entire review please visit: http://wp.me/p4XqxF-1sI
This book!!! Y'all!!! I couldn't put the darn thing down!! I got sucked into the story, the characters became my friends, and I was living the story alongside them!! Seriously one of my favorites!!! Can't wait to read more of your books!!
I haven't laughed so hard in SOOOOO long. Spied was witty, and entertaining from start to finish, and the love between Gia and Mark is undeniable! Such a cute read in my eyes.
Gia spends her evenings like Dexter. No she's isn't killing people, but she's catching cheaters. But when her current stakeout is the soon-to-be brother in law to the hunky Mark, what is she going to do?
I love how the characters are relatable with not only me, but with each other. The banter and playfulness between them is amazing to watch mature, and the pacing of the story was on point.
The passion between Gia and Mark was great, and I loved watching them get to know each other physically and emotionally.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this quick read and plan on reading more of JM Miller in the future! So excited!!

This is a fun rom-com read with a dash of suspense. Gia doesn't want to believe in love. She's cynical after witnessing cheating hearts as a P.I. All that could change when she meet maintenance man, Mark. When they keep bumping into one another Gia hope her undercover job isn't blown. She's torn between her attraction and her duty to complete the job for the client. Funny, sexy and romantic with an HEA. Loved the ending. It wasn't your tradition HEA.
Oh My God, this book was amazing! It’s unlike any other romantic comedy I’ve read, with the little touch of mystery that comes with spying. From the first page you are captivated by the first scene that comes in line. It’s so weird but so funny. And there, you meet the main characters Gia and Mark, who are attracted to each other in an instant. Their connection is undeniable.
“The last thing I wanted to do was break away from her. I needed more. But this was the first kiss, to show her what could be, what would be. What if.”
Their relationship goes step by step, next to Gia’s job. Which creates many obstacles along the way and taking them by total surprise.
“I just had to go with it, let this perfectly chivalrous guy escort me into the adult store after only half a date, a mountain worth of my lies, and enough sexual tension to melt all the edible panties we’d pass inside. F*ck.”
The connection Gia and Mark have is so natural. Things between them flow at one point slowly, and then with all the force it can. Reading how their relationship develops is so entertaining. It gives you a little bit of angst and the right amount of romance, heat and fun.
— “So, you’re the one.” — “Wha..at?”. — “The one my mom warned me about when I was younger. That one girl who would come out of nowhere, grab hold, make me feel something I never had before, then rip me apart with some unfathomable truth.”
And at the same time you get to read the mystery story. Trying to solve all the questions, to fill in the blanks so there’s nothing you escape. At first, for me it was predictable. But as I was turning the pages I threw that idea out of my mind, and then BOOM, as the book comes to an end I was the one taken by surprise. It turns out I was right, but man did I have so many details wrong.
“But when I look into your eyes, I’m not scared. I’m done fighting this.”
This book has everything: the plot, the characters, the angst, the mystery, the drama, and romance of course. You will laugh without control and through all the pages. This is what I call a true romantic comedy.
— “I’m a mess.” — “You are.” His arms cinched around me for a moment then his hands moved to my face, tipping my chin up to look into my eyes. “But you’re my mess. My smart and sexy mess.”
Gia works in a bridal shop during the day helping the blushing bride, by night she does the exact opposite as a private investigator to catch the groom cheating. This is a fun and flirty romantic comedy. Just what you need if you want a laugh. It was a fast and easy read. Its written well and it flows good too.
Mark is a maintenance technician that stumbles upon her by accident. She is spying on someone to see if they are cheating. She gets so caught up that she doesn’t hear him behind her. He thinks she is a voyeur, if only. She is worried he is going to turn her in. So when she sees him again, she realizes her next mark is his soon to be brother-in-law. She tries to be incognito but it doesn't work. He sees her even when no one else does.
I loved the cat and mouse of it all. She wants him but shouldn’t. He wants her and he will do what it takes to get her. This book is funny, laugh out loud. I get where Gia doesn’t want to get invested when her work, at her slightly not legal job, makes her that way. Mark is a really good guy and I liked him a lot. He would do anything to protect his little sister, even if it breaks her heart. These people are supposed to love each other, yet she is hired to find or try and catch them cheating. This is the first book I have read by J.M. Miller but I will read more.

Anyone that knows me knows how much I love JM Miller and all her YA work… that being said, this book is completely different from anything of hers I’ve ever read before! Spied is a romantic comedy, and it lives up to that name, with a little heat & mystery thrown in as well. The book starts off with Gia working at her side job, catching people cheating on their significant others - and you meet Mark almost immediately. He works at the resort where she is doing some spying. (All of this you find out in chapter one, so no spoilers, I promise!)
I love the instant connection and attraction they have but it’s not “inst-love”. Watching their relationship build throughout this non-traditional story line is the true beauty of it. So many obstacles get in their way, and it’s always fun to see their reactions as bombshells get dropped, and to see how they ebb and flow with what’s going on around them. This book brought these characters to life for me, and I could see them in a movie on TV easily. There is some heat to the book, and it’s fun to see how creative they get when the mood hits in strange places… you’ll have to read to find out more!
I’m an avid crime and court drama watcher/reader and it’s so hard to stump me - but JM had me guessing all the way to the end of this book! I loved that! I had my predictions of what might be happening; some I got right and some I was far from guessing. It was so much fun to read and organically follow the story from literally day one of this case.
I truly love these characters and adored this story and this family. You just can’t hate this book, so go purchase a copy. Now. Go. (:
What does one do when they have become skeptical of true love and lost faith in the trust that goes into a relationship? Why, work in a bridal store, right? Our heroine, Gia, is willing to support her aunt and sister in the family business that is all about weddings, working side by side with them to help brides make their dreams come true—but this is not where she finds passion. In fact, behind the scenes, Gia has begun her own business—Duplicity—in which she works as a PI, spying on cheaters in order to save brides from future hurt and devastation.
Believing herself invisible to most, Gia finds herself in a compromising situation when the man who caught her “spying” on a couple and believes her to be a voyeur walks into the bridal shop. To make matters worse, this man who seems to see her, the man who has captured her attention as well, is too close to the situation in which Gia has just been hired to investigate. Is Gia willing to take a chance on a relationship? And just how far is Gia willing to bend the truth to protect her business and fulfill the job she was hired to do? At what point does she cross the line with her deceit and betray the relationship that seems to be budding?
This delightfully sweet and funny RomCom will have you laughing out loud at not only the situations in which Gia finds herself, but at the banter that drives the tension and chemistry between Gia and Mark. These two are the perfect complement to one another, and Mark will quickly find his way into your list of fun-loving and passionate book boyfriends.
This book was a fun, easy, romantic comedy, with plenty of heart and an element of mystery. There were quite a few moments that left me giggling at the antics of the characters.
Gia works at her family’s bridal boutique, celebrating true love. Her other job, however, is running her own business, Duplicity, where she tracks down and exposes cheaters for her clients. Jaded from her own past relationship, she hardly believes there are any good guys left.
“I just had to go with it, let this perfectly chivalrous guy escort me into the adult store after only half a date, a mountain worth of my lies, and enough sexual tension to melt all the edible panties we’d pass inside. F**k.”
Mark is someone who avoids commitment by only hooking up with vacationers, so he never has to see them again. He inadvertently stumbles upon Gia while she is on a case. He can’t stop thinking about her, and she just wants to avoid getting caught. When Gia realizes Mark is the future brother-in-law of her latest target, hijinks and secrets ensue.
“The last thing I wanted to do was break away from her. I needed more. But this was the first kiss, to show her what could be, what would be. What if.”
This was a great blend of sweet and sexy. I enjoyed the ongoing mystery of whether the groom was a cheater or not, and who exactly had hired Gia in the first place. I loved all the misunderstandings between Gia and Mark, and watching Gia try to explain her way out of them. If you like sweet and light with a touch of the hilarious, check this one out!
3.75 Stars This was a clever, funny read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked Gia although at times I found that she was a little ditzy almost. The dichotomy of her life was pitched perfectly by the author, but I suppose she really was a romantic in all senses of the word, she wanted to make sure that romance was the winner, no matter what. She gave every bride that walked through the doors of the bridal shop that she worked in the best of her, her undivided attention and the full bridal experience but when the shop door closed and the lights were switched off, she set about allaying the fear of those brides that weren’t quite so sure that their happy ever after was going to be possible. Spying on potential cheating partners is probably as far from the day job as you could get but was it really?…She was looking out for love either way. Caught in the act of spying on her latest mark, Gia had more to consider now than she had bargained for because no matter how hard she tries to stay under the radar so to speak, Mark can see straight through her but she be able to keep task a secret, especially once she realises that Mark is connected to the guy she is watching. I liked the two of them, especially Mark but that isn’t to say that Gia wasn’t great she was, he was just a little bit easier to fall hopelessly in love with. He was a really good guy who was willing to do whatever it took to get the woman he wanted.
I can't tell you how much I loved this book! It was the BEST surprise! I've read two other books by Ms. Miller and they were so different! I loved those, too but this hit the spot, getting me out of a funk/hangover.
Our heroine, Gia, has been jaded, so she decided to help others from said heartache by opening up her very own business. It kind of butted heads with her other job, where she encountered people that were in love and were preparing to tie the knot.
Our hero, Mark, stumbles upon her in a funny scenario, then they meet again and poor guy has his work cut out for him, trying to convince Gia there is a happy-ever-after for her, as well.
This book was so funny and sweet and hot! I was melting one moment, swooning the other then fanning myself. These two get into all sorts of trouble together.
The conclusion to my review is that you have to read this book, you have to meet my new book boyfriend, Mark. Because believe me, you'll want a Mark too. As a matter of fact, where's my Mark?
"I still couldn't process what exactly was happening. He was mad... but he brought me cookies?"
Like seriously, where's my Mark? This book shall be reread many times, I'm sure of that. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
O.M.G...This book! It is chock full of so much fun and wit. I loved every second of this book. Spied is Contemporary Romance at it's finest with comedy thrown into the mix. This is a fantastic read!
Gia has two jobs. At one of them, she works at the family business at a bridal boutique. The second job is her secret baby. She spies and catches cheaters in the act. It is while she is spying that she meets Mark. He catches her watching her target making out with someone he shouldn't be. The chemistry between these two is off the charts from the very beginning. However, Gia can't be caught and she uses her feminine wiles to distract him and run away.
Fate steps in and brings Mark to the boutique where his sister has a dress fitting. He is determined to not let Gia slip through his fingers. She is determined to not let him know what she was really doing when he caught her. She tried to ignore and avoid him. However, when her 2nd job keeps causing her to cross paths with Mark, it starts to look like she is stalking him. Not that he minds in the least. Every time she is around him, he gets harder and harder to resist.
This story is full of hilarious moments, witty dialogue, and bad (but funny) puns. It is a great story, but I expect nothing less from this author.
I received a free ARC and am voluntarily writing an honest review.
This was my first book by this author. I really enjoyed reading Spied. It had a little romance, suspense, and comedy and don't forget the cobbler. Some parts were hilarious and I loved it! I enjoyed meeting Gia and Mark and the rest of the Spied crew. My favorite character was Gia and her talk of being invisible and about the "fun hole" and her sister Kass was funny just being herself. My least fav. character was Edena and her analogy of "dinner" and to find out what I mean there, you really need to read the book!! Some of my favorite quotes were "Lies didn't matter. Lives didn't matter. Love never mattered." "He was a distraction that could cost me." "I never turn down dessert."
This was a fun read. It had hilarious antics including a loud air-conditioner. Imagine that picture with a good-looking female getting her thrills on top of the loud contraption !! J. M. Miller wrote with style and flair. I loved the mystery within the story.
Gia and Mark has chemistry from the get go. Gia trying to stay away from with the intend of getting a job done. Mark tried getting Gia's attention but she tried to avoid his calls and texts. But Mark kept finding Gia in the many venues he was. Mark started putting two to two and the story gets interesting.
This is a story you don't want to miss. An absolute fun read you don't want to miss!!
