Keiichi Arawi (あらゐ けいいち, Arawi Keiichi) is a Japanese manga artist and illustrator. Arawi was born in the prefecture of Gunma in 1977. He started his comics career at age 19 and for about a decade he published short stories. His series Nichijou, a slice of life comedy manga, was first serialised between 2006 and 2015 in the magazine 'Shonen Ace', and collected in ten volumes. In 2011 Nichijou was adapted into a 26-episode anime directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, now considered a cult. From 2016 to 2021 Arawi worked on the comedy manga CITY. In 2022 he resumed the serialisation of Nichijou, as well as starting a new strip called Amemiya-san.
This is such a great series! I have been loving the later issues, because they are all filled with stories that weren't featured in the anime. This was no exception. It was absolutely hilarious! And, in particular, I enjoyed one of the final stories, which gives us a weird glimpse into the future.
Mio meets Yuuko's celebrity lookalike, Double Cheeseburgirl. Mr. Takasaki freaks out about Ms. Sakurai seeing his pic of her as a high schooler and accidentally makes it look like he really has a crush on Ms. Nakamura. Nano and Mai get really into a book called Double Crops: A Textbook (which I later realized was written by Ms. Sakurai's father). Misato continues to have weird delusions of romance with Sasahara. Mio buys an over-priced cutting board from a weird vending machine. Also, Ms. Nakamura is now somehow living at the Shinonome Laboratory?
Yet another random and weird volume, with a lot of the weirdness somehow interconnected. So, basically a normal Nichijou volume.
It's been a while, but I think the one pen featured in a strip near the end of the volume is a reference to one of the teachers in Azumanga Daioh.
Extras:
A few full-color pages and a page about minor characters.
anothet entertaining volume of Nichijou. there were really funny moments -- like i'm literally laughing out loud and sharing it to people -- and 'meh' parts. it's balanced out, actually. i missed a few volumes though but it's not really a problem. this is still an enjoyable read and i'm sure that's the case for any volume of this manga series 😊
It's nice that a few characters developed, even minimally, during this series. As casual and fun as 'Nichijou' is, you feel like you really see a portrait of cartoony life.
I know I compare this to 'Peanuts' a lot, but I think it's like 'Peanuts' meets 'The Office' with its just-there-enough worldbuilding.
This was a really good edition. So much good stuff in here. Farts, a chopping board vending machine and what looks like a grown up professor! The farts and the chopping board... I lost it! So funny and then when the chopping board was damaged, oh I was devastated!
I can't tell if it's a gag at the end, but the Professor is randomly old enough to be in school now? How much got left out of the anime? I mean, the series is just a bunch of isolated gags and jokes, but still. Wow.

Volume 9 of “Nichijou” was great. I really dig how this manga keeps returning to and elaborating on past plot lines or jokes. There were some real standouts (any reader will sympathize with Mai’s struggles in chapter 157). It was quite as stunning as the previous volume but I enjoy how “Nichijou” gets better with every entry.
It occurs to me that I've read 9 out of 10 volumes of this series about Japanese school life and I don't recall a single cultural festival, sports festival, class trip, etc. almost always a major part of similar series. Instead, just lots of strange events.
There are still lots of segments that go over my head and occasionally a chuckle to be had.
