Good info on the process of one tiny dental procedure leading to major ones that can effect our health for the rest of our live even cause heart issues>death etc. Highly recommended for anyone with a lot of inflammation in the body that is unknown, liver issues, heart health, diabetes etc. look at your teeth have you had metal fillings or root canals? they could be the cause of your physical ailments!
The aim of dentistry is to "save every tooth." Sounds good, but at what cost? A dead tooth can be functional while undermining your immune system and general health. Is saving a tooth worth a chronic illness? Dentistry is fraught with toxic time bombs that can destroy the quality of your life and even shorten your life. It happens all the time. This book is a self defense manual for patients who don't want to be victims. Dentists can be dangerous if they have a mechanical, not a biological, view of their work. And their interests are often not the same as yours. The profit motive can put blinders on people.
The author discusses the economic, political, and legal forces that make the dental business deadly. Yes, it is a business. On page 83 he says that the ADA can revoke dental licenses. No trade organization should have that kind of power! Insurance companies also can derail the best interests of the patient.
This book exceeded my expectations. It is clear and easy to read, despite poor editing. It is illustrated. It is not outdated. It is understandable to lay readers and covers all the angles, with special emphasis on mercury fillings. It covers crowns, bridges, root canals, implants, cavitations, bonding, sealants, veneering, etc. It is a scathing, but fair and justified, attack on dentistry as practiced today. It suggests alternatives, such as metal-free dentistry. By metal-free dentistry the author means bonding with composite resins, not crowning with ceramics or porcelains. (Real porcelains are not metal-free, as they contain aluminum.) He warns against crowns and urges preservation of tooth structure. Prevention is the best policy because “It is rare for a dental treatment not to damage a tooth.”
The book is beneficial to those seeking dental work & additional knowledge concerning procedures & options prior to entering into contractual work with the DDS. I was able to utilize some of the information by inquiring with more knowledge with the dentist & obtained answers which guided me through faster recovery processes. A little dry & some redundant information... nonetheless a recommend.
Book is dated. I read it cause I was interested in tooth crown' side effects. I discovered that still there are less invasive treatments performed by conservative dentists. Author is repetitive about the dangers of mercury amalgams in the mouth.
