Beauty and the Dark: Coming OCTOBER 2016
-
People say there are things worse than death. They are right. Death would have saved me. The things broke me.
-
So I locked my heart away and swore I’d never have another man in my body again. You see, I thought, I knew everything there was to know about men: deceitful, cruel, and heartless. I thought I hated them all. Naively, I believed I could live hidden away in my brother-in-law’s castle forever.
But Fate put me under a mistletoe with a man called Jack Irish. How can I describe him? Tall, dark and handsome wouldn’t even begin to cut it. Mesmerizingly magnetic with charcoal hair, eyes bluer than the bluest marbles, and tattoos that curl out of his rolled up sleeves, he stood in front of me. When his lips brushed mine the ground under my feet shook, and everything I believed about myself smashed into a thousand pieces.
But I am not the girl he thinks I am. He wants me in his bed. He doesn’t know I am damaged beyond repair and dirty. If he knows how filthy I am he will run a mile.
Jack
I know all about pain. How it reaches into you, rips out your heart, and crushes it while you fuckin’ watch. I'd vowed that was in the past. I was going to get drunk on one night stands and casual sex.
But then fate put Sophie Seagull in my path.
She is damaged. She is fragile. She is broken. And she is beautiful. Not in the cold, hard way of a sparkling diamond throwing its flashy light all over the place, but in the secretively, mysterious way of a pearl glowing in the moonlight. I look into her eyes, as huge and hauntingly soulful as that of a slow loris and the world doesn’t seem to be so bleak anymore.
She fights me, but this is my vow.
To repair her. To protect her. To take her. To make her mine forever...

Sofia is a young woman who has a haunted, painful past. Her dark secrets and negative thoughts make her feel lonely even when she is not alone. Jack is a ravaged man who has his own secrets and is tormented by his own dark past. Sofia and Jack get attracted to each other at first sight. Jack becomes the one to unlock the passion and fire within her. Together they will help each other to escape the darkness that’s been surrounding them for so long.

Sofia is a sweet, quiet girl who lives her life quietly going day to day. Jack is dangerous, bad news. As they get to know each other better they fall in love. But their love is going to be tested because they are both running from a past and secrets will come back to haunt them.

This story really touched me. It was such a sensual book and it just felt so beautiful as I read it. Jack and Sofia knew from the start they were destined for each other and that their love would transcend all of their flaws. Beauty and the Dark was a beautiful romance about two broken people finding each other and healing themselves and each other. I recommend it to everyone who wants to find love among the ashes.

4.5 "Jack Irish" stars

You are an angel with a broken wing, but broken things can heal. You will fly again.

The story of two people, Sofia Seagull and Jack Irish, two tormented souls, unlikely to find each other's salvation in one another, that both have witnessed, felt and experienced the most horrid actions being done by human beings turned monsters...and what they found in each other was more than solace, more than love, it was more like an absolution from the past and a second chance at living.

Jack Irish is a man, a doctor who has seen the mutilations and horrors while working in Africa one could not have imagined in his worst nightmares, and he lived through them, trying to „mend“ what little is possible with what he had available at hand. He's a tormented bitter and tired soul.

One fated night of a Christmas party, he thought he dreamed an Angel, a beautiful woman in a white dress that held sensitive grace in her posture, he saw untainted innocence in her,
Her beauty in not diamond flashy, but mysterious and intriguing, like a string of pearls glowing in the moonlight.

And he can't escape the vision of her, so he pursues her, completely overwhelmingly and not giving her the stance of backing away...cause that's exactly what the beauty in white, Sofia does, cause her life was the living nightmare ever since she was sold into the sex slavery by her own father – those vile, depraved, disgusting violations of her body, mind and soul left her in void, lingering in the abyss of feeling disgraced and ashamed - destroying her as a person, destroying her as a woman, destroying her as a human being, even after she's been saved by her sister's husband Guy who bought her off almost 2 years ago... her life was of solitude and shying away from human contact,
I know I'll never let anyone get that close to me. My firm intention is to live and die alone.

but
I learned to be grateful that i had another chance. Another chance to be peaceful, and for the first time in my life to be master of my own body.

until that Christmas party...

As her interaction with Jack continues, she's afraid that her ugly secret will come out, destroying her once again, cause she dared to believe in this dream, of being with Jack.
This man makes me feel things I have never felt before. The kind of passion I thought only existed in books.

But she does tell him when Jack presses harder and she no longer can deny that the fluttering feelings inside and outside of her body are real, existing and aching...
I'm that song you've never sung, Sofia.
You don't know the notes we can reach together.
Try me. I promise you will never regret it.

her own fears and self-loathing, self-deprication will be peeled away through the intense, passionate, hard and direct affection shown by this man...Jack Irish
Nothing can change the way I feel about you.
Nothing. You will always be mine and only mine.

He accepts my past completely and behaves as if it is a non-starter in our relationship.

the man Sofia never dreamed of possible, or ever being real in her life.

When the dreaded past comes to hunt Sofia down, she will realize just how much the love Jack has for her is fuckin real as he will tear apart and move heaven and hell to get her back.
I want you to know there is no depth I will not go to rescue you.

Georgia writes gritty, intense and powerful love stories where the characters go through the bloody havoc in order to achieve the ultimate solace in love, them being greater than life itself in their actions...and this story is no exemption...

I loved the re-appearence of the characters from Georgia's other books - Blake and Lana (The Billionaire banker series), Guy and Lena from Disfigured Love, even glimpses of Noah Abramovich (You don't know me) and Aleksandr Malenkov/aka my Zane (You don't own me 1-2), as she once again proves how eloquentlly she keeps them all intertwined and linked in their own existence cocoon of a remarkably written universe.

Emotional read.

Jack is no longer the man he once was after losing the woman he loved he joined Doctors Without Borders and asked to be sent to Africa. But Africa destroyed and scarred him forever. There, he lost his faith in humanity. The poverty, the cruelty, the corruption, the suffering, the massacres, the injustices, the daily indignities he witnessed changed him as it would anyone.
While he's financially a success personally he's a complete mess, he drinks, fights and has random sex. This is his life until he meets Sofia, she's different and so unlike any woman he's met before. Yes she's damaged, fragile and broken but she's naturally beautiful and something about her draws him and he's determined she's going to be his.
Sofia's life has been the stuff of nightmares, she's lived through things I can hardly think about but now she's safe. Her life consists of her sister Lena, Lena's husband Guy and their daughter Irina and she's contend, never dreaming that she could have more until she meets Jack and for the first time in her life she finds herself actually wanting a man.
Jack is gorgeous, rich and successful and while he may be attracted to her she knows once he finds out her past she'll have no place in his future.
I really enjoyed this book, it's been a while since I'd read Lena and Guy and also Blake and Lana's books and I wish I'd done a re-read although it's not necessary since this book stands alone.

I'm sorry but things moved WAY too fast between these two! They are both broken. He's a drunk and doesn't care if he dies or not. She was a sex slave her whole life. She can't even go out in public without freaking out. They've had dinner a couple times and he comes back to her place drunk and they're going to have sex without a condom and who cares if she gets pregnant because he knows she will be a great mom?
Ugh! No! Im sorry but that just doesn't seem to me how a woman with her past would act. I'm glad others loved but this ones not for me.

Spoilers

So this book really started out good for me, and I was finally excited to get myself wrapped up in it. But then it just become odd and I just felt some things didn't make sense. One in particular had me actually stop and consider if I should finish this book at all. Let's have a run down. Sex slave, who is rescued and is trying to go on in life, she starts feeling for a man she just meets and maybe I get that, she's never had the opportunity to actually feel for a man before, it's a normal response, is it for a former abused sex slave, who knows, so moving on, she loves kids and animals, she has this pure an childlike beauty to her, and honestly she is just an angel, seriously I liked all that. Ok the part that killed this book for me, her and Jack now seeing one another, actually living together and she finds an album, it doesn't say what it is, but we kinda figure it out from other issues with Jack Irish, anyways, she gets so hurt she leaves and she running away, cold, no coat, on a bus, throwing up, I mean the works, and she like I know where I'm going, ok next scene, Irish comes home, he finds her in the bed, and she has a needle in her arm? Where the fuck did that come from, like when did she start using dope? Was is when as a sex slave? And if so why would see want to feel like that after what's she been through? And it gets worse, Irish does it with her? Wdf. That was my turning point, that part in the book was just dumb an unnecessary, you could have had her run home to her sister, but you turn it into a drug scene, yea not good. And the album, it belongs to Lana, the woman Irish was madly in love with an is married to someone else, but what's weird is he starts to say how now he realizes that he just really loved her like a sister, and that the love and possessive way he feels for our heroin is much more, but then when explaining the album to her he tells her, oh Lana was my first love? Like i thought u said you didn't love her like that? Anyways, book could have been great, but I felt this author was pulling out scenarios out of a brown paper bag. Two and half stars for me

“I was willing to sell my soul to the devil for you.”

This is another from Georgia Le Carre and I must admit, I’ve been excited for Jack Irish. Beauty and the Dark is about a broken soul and a broken will who met and found purpose with each other to live and to flourish.

Sofia is an innocent soul broken when she was sold to a brothel when she was young and rescued by her brother-in-law. She’s like a baby thrust into the real world

Jack is a lost soul who wanted to change the world but was altered by the things he saw in his stay in Africa. He lost his will to live and nothing scares him.

They were fated to meet and that one kiss under the mistletoe have changed where there life will go. Their journey together was sweet, and inspiring but full of struggles because of the triggers and the trauma that held Sofia back. But it never held them both back to be together.

Once again, Georgia Le Carre delivered something that combines violence and passion together in this raw, intense and emotional read. Be ready to be swept away by the force of love of Jack Irish!

Terrible

This book is an insult to any woman who has ever suffered from sexual abuse. I cannot even begin to convey the disgust I'm feeling towards this book or this author.
If you are looking for a wonderful, emotionally touching novel about a heroine who overcomes a lifetime of abuse, don't bother with this one. In my opinion, this was basically a shallow rape fantasy story...

Phoenix rising

Wow I think Ms. Le Carre gets better and better every time she writes.

A Phoenix burned to ashes to rise and fly beautiful in the sky. That sums this story up to a tee. Jack and Sofia are two people burnt to ash and together they rise above and are reborn.

Very touching, gut wrenching story that you won't be able to put down.

Seriously wondering if I read the same book as those with the 4 start ratings. I've read many books from this author and just can't believe it's the same writer as in the Eden series or Gypsy Heroes. I'm just dumbfounded as to how incredibly bad this was.

I was excited to read Sofia’s story after reading the previous book in this serious. I vaguely remembered Jack Irish from the Billionaire Banker series. The thing I love about Georgia Le Carre is her books are always riveting and emotional.

Sofia has given up the idea of ever having love for herself. After the terrible abuse she suffered at the hands of the brothel owner, she has no hope that a man could see her than being anything other than a whore.

She meets Jack Irish and it’s instalove! He cannot stay away from her. He’s too good to be true, except he’s not. I wasn’t convinced of his genuine love at first but he proves himself.

I was happy to see Sofia get her happy ending. She had no idea just how much she would need Jack until the nerve-wracking conclusion!

Expected from Georgia, dark and on the depressing side. Not sure why I do this to myself. She writes some really good characters and as much as I hate drama she writes a good wreck lol. I gotta go read something happy now!

Recomend you first read the billionaire banker series first to understand the dynamics of the characters to get the most out of it. Also then read disfigured love before this one.

Emotional and a darker theme than the previous book's.

Sofia has a dark and painful past. Jack is jaded and fills his nights women and alcohol. Match made in heaven, right?
Rescued from sexual slavery by her sister's husband, Sofia is slowly but surely coming into her own. She's learning how to live again and finally starting to socialize. Jack, of course, takes one look at her, and all he sees is her innocence and angelic beauty. He wants to protect her, cherish her, love her...and lucky for him, Sofia actually feels sexually attracted to Jack--a first for her.
There's the usual working through the painful memories one would expect and the drama of monsters from her past coming to pay a visit. It's all well done and made for a good read. There was a scene that seemed so out of place though...
Sofia is looking for blankets in the apartment when she comes across an old album. Flipping through it, she becomes so distraught that she leaves the apartment in tears--no coat, hops a bus to nowhere, vomits.
One, Jack's response was stupid. Two, I'm thinking whatever was in that album had to have been awful, right? It's gotta be pictures of Jack kicking puppies or something equally horrific. Except it's not. It's really, really not, and the whole thing was just so very dumb...

This is Jack and Sofia's story.

You might know Jack from The Billionaire Banker series, he's Lana's best friend and Blake's rival for Lana's love. Later became also Sorab's godfather. He studied medicine, and in this book he's a famouse plastic surgeon in London.

Sophia is Lena's sister from the "Disfigured Love" book. You remeber Lena was looking to find all her sisters that her father sold to the prositution nets in Russia. She found only one of them Sofia.

I really enjoyed this story. I didn't know it was about them when I started reading it, since I didn't read the synopsis, so it was a pleasant suprise.

Jack was really a changed man...he was total alpha, and I loved him.

Sofia was a gentle soul, kind hearted and radted innocence even after all the cruelty she beared. I loved her...she reminded me a lot of Lana.

Geoegia as always delievers interesting and passionate storties.

The only reason I'm giving this one 4 stars is because some parts were cut short and I needed to live those parts in the book.

It's a fast enjoyable read, so I recommand it!

First thank you G for bringing again my Blake and Lana, even after all the time and reading thousands of books in a year they are still my favorite and number 1. It was so good to read about Lena and Guy too.Beauty and dark is very emotional and gritty and raw story about two people who suffered in the past from the hands of another people.Jack is such complex hero,in Lana and Blake story I must admit I didn't liked him very much but after reading the hell he been too and his caring and loving ways with Sofia he grow up on me. And our heroine Sofia, i think when i read it in what hell she been too my heart broke for her, while reading it i so wanted those too to have their HEA.Georgia writting is always complex, so you will not stop until last page. All in all another amazing book from my favorite author.Do yourself a favor buy this book
Highly recommended

This book was really weird to me. The whole story needed more development. Jack and Sofia's relationship moved too fast to be feasible. Also she was sold by her father to a trafficker who forced her into sex slavery. After only meeting Jack a couple of times she sleeps with him with no reservations. You would think someone so abused would need to build some trust. There is even a scene where Sofia is going to shoot up heroine because that's what was done to her during her captivity and to show her how it felt to watch someone you love do that to themselves Jack grabbed the syringe and shot himself up. Did I mention he's a Dr so he should know better. Like I said just a weird story and it didn't work for me. I was being generous giving it 3 stars. I normally
love this author so it's disappointing.

"Her beauty is not diamond flashy, but mysterious and intriguing, like a string of pearls glowing in the moonlight."

This is how I would describe the writing style of this author, subtle and delicate, the almost lyrical prose slowly weaves around the reader until you are ensnared by the beauty of the story. The richness of language is akin to fine dining after you have consumed this tale you are left feeling content, sated and spoiled by the sumptuous tone that author infuses. I love the decadent feeling of Georgia Le Carre writing, with a fairly tale edge I eagerly read this in just a couple of hours...

Sofia is the lost sister to Lena who you may have met previously in Disfigured Love, this is a stand alone and although it's not necessary to read other stories the characters do interweave from one story into another. Rebuilding her life as her humanity was stripped from her when her father sold her into a notorious human trafficking ring at an early age, she was rescued by her long lost sisters husband. Feeling sorry, used and unable to assimilate into her new life as a free woman she hides the full horrors she has endured from her sister. Slowly gaining confidence she crosses paths with Jack Irish, again you may be familiar with this rogue. For once Sofia feels...she wants...she desires. The unknown is terrifying but is he worth the leap of faith? Jack is a tortured soul, his heart broken by the depths humanity has sunk to as he has witnessed too much darkness to ever place his faith in others. Money is power and people are only interested in themselves he is blown away by the innocence and purity of Sofia. Identifying with the horrors trapped within her eyes all he knows is she must be his. Can the bad boy change his ways? Will he be her knight in shining armour? And will the past release them from its icy clutches?

This story brings together some much loved characters from previous stories and it was great to catch up with the familiar faces. The agony and the bliss of Sofia and Jack is eloquently described leaving me on a rollercoaster of emotions. The daily fight just to get through each day is taken for granted by so many of us and yet for these two damaged souls it's a war they keep on battling. I was dazzled by this romantic and erotic story that left me breathless. As always I can not find fault with this story it's another jewel in this author's crown.

A five star eat the cake, buy the shoes, grab the man you want as life is too short read.

Baby Steps

Absoutely loved it! <3 <3 <3

So if you've read The Billionaire Banker series and Disfigured Love then you will get a glimpse on how those characters are doing!! You also get a hi/bye from Noah Abramovich from "You Don't Know Me." BONUS! I love how Georgia tied all of these characters together!

*This book has recounts of abuse both physical and verbal. If this a trigger then this book might not be for you.*

The 2 main characters in this book is Sofia Seagull and Jack Irish.
We first get a glimpse of Sofia in Disfigured Love. She had a horrible upbringing in Russia along with her sibilings. She was also sold by her father into the sex trafficking world. Through everything that Sofia has been through she is still a very strong woman who needs a little guidance and a boost of confidence. She's been living in the shadows for years and finally her sister makes sure she gets back out into the real world to rediscover herself.

Our first glimpse of Jack Irish is in The Billionaire Banker series. He was the best friend to Lana whom he thought was the love of his life. He loses her to Blake so he runs off to Africa to help as a doctor. He comes back damaged and doesn't feel any emotions. Simply just the shell of a man. When he meets Sofia for the first time he has feelings. It's love at first sight.

Once they are both comfortable with each other here comes the sex. Jack is an absoute beast in the bed! Lots of dirty bedroom talk it'll make you hot!!! Of course Sophia is shy about everything in the bedroom department because of her past, but soon gets more comfortable in her skin.

We also get details of both of their pasts that has shaped them into the people they are today. When Sofia's past comes back for her it's up to Jack to try and save her.
*****
What I love most about this book how Sofia has managed to come out of her situation as strong as she is. It's amazing what she went through and is still able to love again. Her determination and strength is amazing!

Also, the ending was fabulous! I absoutely love HEA's. I'm also hoping (from reading the epilogue) there might be another book in the Billionaire Banker series about Sorab and his eighteenth birthday....please please please!!!!!

This was my first Georgia Le Carre book and I'm happy to say, it will not be my last. She has definitely left an impression on my heart.

This story was about two people, both broken in their own way. Two people with horrible pasts, just looking for their own sunshine. Two people not looking for a relationship, but allowing fate to intervene. Two people who have truly captured my heart.

This story shows us that our pasts really don't define us. That no matter who you are or who you once were, there will always be that one person made just for you. That one person who will love you like none other. That one person who will completely change your world for the better.

I am completely blown away by the love these two souls share. The lengths they were willing to go, just to be together. To say that my heart is full of love for these characters, would be an understatement; which is why I'm highly recommending this book.

5 beautiful stars!

Arc for honest review. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou OMG Jack Irish is just about as dreamy as a guy can get. A bad boy billionaire,a player of one night stands, drunken sex with little to no knowledge and it's all about to change, his whole life is turned upside down when he meets Sofia. Sold by her father and condemned into a life of being a sex slave for Valdislav a Russian brothel owned. Sofia had been rescued by her sisters husband Guy, he bought her back from Valdislav as everything has a price. While Lena and Guy treat Sofia with kid gloves none of them really know what torture she had to endure for years in the monsters hands. Sofia has decided she can never be with a man and be normal, until She meets Jack. A kiss that's all it was, under mistletoe and her whole life starts to change.... A real powerful book Thanks Georgia X

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

Sophia was traded by her father as a sex slave, she was rescued by her sister’s Lena’s husband Guy, she is healing but it is slow and keeps herself hidden away at her sister’s and husband’s castle. Jack is a plastic surgeon, he also has demons. He signed up with Doctors without Borders and asked to be sent to Africa. He is a player, women only get 1 night with him. Sophia and Jack meet and a Christmas Eve party, he kisses her under the mistletoe. They meet again when Lena and Sophia volunteer at Kid’s rule, they start slowly but Jack is obsessed with Sophia. With them both healing from a dark past and a kidnapping do they get their HEA?

And its a wow from me too. A beautiful moving story that will hold your interest but then what else did we expect from Georgia Le Carre her books are amazing. This one being no exception, Sophia`s story could`nt have been any more sad, she was a broken woman until she was rescued by her brother in law Guy. Then Jack came along and changed her life completely, it was almost love at first sight. Her life would never be the same.
I loved the update on Lana and Blake in this book and of course Lena and Guy. All authors have there own unique writing style and this book left me feeling relieved and almost sated. A breathtaking story that should`nt be missed. I was given this ARC to read for an honest and unbiased review.

Edited, now I've read it fully.

Kind of unsure about this book. It has a dark outline, with the makings of a good story. Unfortunately, I can't really get in to it. Jack for me is a dominant, but for someone who has seen what he's seen, confuses me. As for Sofia, the trauma she suffered, to then so easy, and trusting, I just don't get it. So I only made it a quarter of the way through, maybe I should of kept going, but I honestly can't.

Well, I finished it. Still, not totally taken with it though. It has a great plot, but the characters for me, were really hard to gel with. Sofia, for all she's been through, doesn't appear to but as mentally scarred as your led to believe in her sexual relationship with Jack.
As for Jack, some positive attributes, but a bit of an ass too.

First off I want to say this was an absolutely amazing book! Jack and Sophia's book was 5 stars well earned! This book had everything you could want. And lots of hardship for the characters to overcome. The book is a emotional ride with parts that make you want to scream, cry or hit something! And other times are so caring, gentle and loving you still cry. The plot is executed flawlessly! Jack and Sophia's journey to a HEA was a absolutely haunting and harrowing tale. Bravo to Georgia Le Carre on blowing another book out of the water!

This was a beautiful and emotional book from the lovely Georgia Le Carre. It's a struggle between two broken people who connect to make something exquisite. Sofia and Jack were both strong and gripping characters. As their story unfolds and their love builds, things from the past come back will come up and threaten to destroy their future happiness. This is a must read. It was romantic, touching, heartbreaking, breath taking, sexy and intriguing. This book was eloquently written. I can't wait to read more from this amazing author. **received an arc in exchange for an honest review**

A beautiful love story that rises from the dark and sinister. The characters in this book appeared in other books and the connection is easy to follow. Sofia had an extremely bad start in life and understands she'll never find love. Jack, a doctor who wishes to just make the world right. A chance meeting and love blossoms. But there is always something that will pull you down and back into your past misdeeds. Exciting, passionate and intense. Well done Georgia.

As expected Brill

Another fantastic addition to Georgia's collection of books. I have read all of Georgia's books and my 1st read of hers was the Billionaire Banker Series where I met the wonderful Lana and Blake so it was a pleasant suprise to have them appear in this book.(would of loved a visit from the awesome Billie Black, maybe next time).Story and characters were great in this book well done Georgia.
