3 stars for short smutty story. There wasn't much meat on the bones in terms of plot and conflict. To me, it was hot in the hot areas, but lacking in the storyline area.
Still, I'm not complaining.

4.5 'Smutty Sweet' Stars
My favorite by the author so far! This was an incredible couple, and the H, James, Lordy!!! He couldn't be more perfect! This one was a bit longer than the previous books I read from the author, and it enriched the story, but there were too many long descriptions, IMO, which makes us lose a bit of interest, because they were too much and too many for this smutty read. Nonetheless, I loved it! I did want a bit more from the extended epilogue tho, but hey, I'm a greedy epilogue reader!

This story was more than I thought it was going to be. So often recently, short stories are fast and smutty but lack a plot. I love that we have sizzling sex, sweet love and a decent storyline that kept me hooked.
I assumed we were going to have the classic pool boy/rich girl drama. To me, it was much more. It was a story of acceptance and support of the person you are falling in love with. It felt more mature, with Vera coming to terms with taking the final plunge to extricate herself from her father's clutches.
I adored James. He was strong, loving and supportive of Vera. He pushed when he needed to and supported when he needed to. He had his share of struggles growing up but he didn't let them define him.

~neither were virgins but no info on their sexual history
~no pushing away
~an epilogue that was 6 months out. THEN you could sign up for an extended epilogue that was a year out. Unfortunately, for me, I was disappointed in the epilogue. Only gave a quick glimpse into their future. I needed more.

This one was my least favorite of Penny. It was very hot and steamy with a lot of drama.
I just wanted a bit more closure to it. I know there is an extended epilogue, but I'm not interested enough to want to read it.
I admire Vera her passion for humanitarian work, she has great ideas but is also a bit afraid to do what she wants. Not what her dad dictates.

Does pure smut with respect make any sense? Well that's James for you! This guy was walking dirty sex god! Yet he treated Vera with so much care, respect and adoration I was like WTF! Why can't I have a boyfriend like THAT? Vera's father? Well let's just hope nobody has a father like that in real life! Sheesh! Asshole to the power infinity! But James has decided since Vera's father is the asshole, it is up to him to set shining example on behalf of his sex! I do suggest you read this! I need to go and swoon further!

Finally, breathen...I am finished, review to come.
I was in the middle of a series when i started reading this book, and i don't know, maybe it was because that series was holding my interest, it took me longer than usual i.e. more than 3 days to finish this book...and what I was craving, just a smutty stop gap book...was not really fulfilled. James+Vera had some steamy smut scenes...but they just didn't hit the spot for me. Then, we have the fact that her dad is clearly messing everything up, but that was played out as a mystery in the book when it clearly wasn't as it was plain as day.
It was an ok book.
Finally, breathen...I am finished, review to come.

Thank God she was not a virgin!
I was worried with the first two Penny Wylder books I read that they were all going to be formulaic. This one broke the formula.
It was a short, sweet, dreamy fantasy (how many of us have fantasies about the gardener/poolboy?) that turns into a real relationship, one without all the senseless details and pointless drama. Everything there was necessary to the plot and moved the story along.
Plus, that author can steam up a kindle. Wow!

This is a passionate example of how a little fantasy can turn into something hot and powerful.
Read this for the cover, but be warned that the contents will take you further than pretty looks only ever will. The story is very well written as the words paint not only a scorching-hot romp in the pool, but also a great female character who wants many things in life on her own terms. Vera's hardworking, inspired persona is described in a catching way. All the while, she's trying to fulfill her dreams even against her dad's wishes, yet she dares dance with the forbidden as she entangles in beautifully dirty and liberating steamy times with the gorgeous employee who tends the garden and the pool. And this man, wow. He is a wet dream on two legs, but later on comes up with a life story that really touches the soul.
Even though the chemistry is amazing, I want to stress the fact that both characters are fully developed and their connection as people and a couple felt true and heart-warming. I loved their first date.
This story tingles all the sensual spots, and it's also about love, commitment to one's true nature and dreams, and fighting for what's worth it. A beautiful long novella that I've loved to read.

Surprisingly substantial for an erotic short story. The characters were not shallow or annoying. They felt real. Also, this was my first time reading a pool-boy erotica. Hot. Lol. Recommended to erotica readers.

Vera and James were such s vute couple. The romance was perfect,the family drama insane and the friendships awesome. Vera was a rich girl who wanted nothing with the rich lifestyle. She was a humanitarian and wanted to work with her hands while helping those who are less fortunate. James was on the opposite end.He grew up poor, homeless and in the system. He worked hard and got himself a good career.
Vera was sort of a doormart to her father. James kept pushing her to be her own person. The romamce between them was quick, but brewed beautifully. I loved them. Good read and great ending.

Really great forbidden romance. James is the hot groundskeeper and Vera is the rich owner's daughter. Told in alternating perspectives, the storyline is great. Vera is trying to get out beneath her controlling father's influence. James is helping out a friend. Their chemistry is explosive. Loved it!!

Der Schreibstil hat mir echt gefallen. Der ist wirklich sehr angenehm. Und sonst ist die Story trotz dessen, dass der Schwerpunkt auf dem Smit liegt, echt gut gelungen. Es fühlt sich nicht nebensächlich an und reizt einen auch definitiv weiterzulesen.

Not Always Greener on the Other Side
We all have dreams of wishing we were some celebrity or wealthy person because we think they have such a great life, but do we ever stop to think that everything we hear or read about might not always be greener on the other side? I have always said, "Don't judge until you walk in my shoes" and that was a quick lesson James learned about Vera. Here she is the daughter of a wealthy, well-known architect and James thinks she is like all rich kids.....spoiled. Vera doesn't think much about James's past to even ask pertinent questions: who's your parents, any siblings, etc. When he tells her he was in the foster system and a complete stranger took him in, the light bulb comes on for her that not everyone is given a loving home.
James also learns that just because you are born with a silver spoon in your mouth doesn't mean life is easy for them. Vera is an only child and since no brother, her father wants her to be an architect to take over his company one day. She has finished college and wants to design homes for lowered income families. Is her father on board with her dreams? Not. At. All. He makes a deal with her that she has 30 days to find a job. If not, she'll work for him. What she doesn't know is how he sabotage ever interview.
James is helping his friend Mike out by keeping the grounds and pool in shape at the Caldwell home. This is where he meets Vera and their steamy relationship ignites!! When Mr. Caldwell gives Vera an ultimatum, James tries to convince Vera that she can do anything without her father and they can do it together. I’m a huge fan of Penny Wylder, I love her writing all of her characters have something special and her novellas are definitely hot.
When I was at 50 % I thought that The Poll Boy was going to be my favorite book from Her, and I wasn’t wrong, loved everything about it from the cover until the epilogue, the story, the characters, their relationship, how she describes their feelings and of course the sex scenes, I don’t think I will ever water my garden without thinking about the garden scene one of the steamiest scenes I’ve read.
This is a story about 2 people coming from different backgrounds who find what they need in each other.

Another good read from Penny. This was a short but sweet insta love story. Vera was given the summer to find her dream job with a firm where she could design homes for those who need them. But with her father watching her and making sure that she would end up working for him at summers end she has to deal with a lot of disappointment.
James is helping out a friend so he is filling in on a landscaping job for a week. He knows that the boss has a hit daughter but he doesn't expect for her to be drop dead gorgeous. When these two get to talk its instant chemistry and when they connect the sparks fly.
