The Less-Stress Lifestyle: Regain Control & Rediscover Happiness

Rate this book
Stress and anxiety are closely linked and in THE LESS-STRESS LIFESTYLE, Carl Vernon, author of the best-selling ANXIETY REBALANCE, has learned how to manage his own stress as he learned to manage his crippling anxiety. Much as Steve Peters created a mind management model in his CHIMP PARADOX and Dave Alred explained THE PRESSURE PRINCIPLE, Carl Vernon describes how he has developed his own tools and coping techniques and now will show you how to do the same. Carl's unique perspective is that we cannot remove stress; it is a part of everyday life, but we should square up to it and take control. This is his guide to using stress to your advantage, rediscovering happiness and getting the balance right between all aspects of your life, including work and financial pressures. For example, Carl advises us to throw away the concept of a work/life balance. Why? Because they are the same thing, and work is a part of life. Instead he shows you how to 'change your situation' rather than quit your job. Carl has also developed a 'stress wall' - his own coping technique and and a new perspective that he describes as The Happiness Trick - how to create and sustain happiness. Carl will also describe how to boost confidence and to invest in yourself. This is an invaluable guide for the many thousands of people affected by stress and its related disorders, whether it is because low confidence, problems at work or money worries.

I am annoyed with myself that I paid over $30 for this garbage without skimming it first. If I had, I'd have noticed the giant font, the huge margins and spaces between paragraphs, and the fact that what little text that is there is repetitive, obvious and tedious. This guy is less stressed because he managed to scam idiots like me into coughing up money.

This book opened my eyes to what I need to develop and change at work and in my personal life. Constantly chasing the dream and stressing when I have bad days and feeling highly stressed and angry are a daily occurrence for me. After reading the book I feel in control (more in control than I normally do!).

Reading the book made me acknowledge and made me aware of what I am doing every day and why nothing every changes for me, why I get more stressed, angry or depressed when things don't go my way. I got ideas and gained knowledge on what I can do to make things change for the better. I'm a negative person a lot of the time (although I keep smiling and put a brave face on). It has been a breath of fresh air to read the book. It is definitely going on my SELF HELP list!! Enjoy my fellow readers. I believe it will open your mind to changing your life for the better.

I did enjoy reading every single pages on it. Every time I read this, I geared myself with a highlighter and post-it as if it's my school book. Most of the sentences in this book is a great reminder and a noteworthy. If you are in the stage of high stress with super overwhelming work or you just basically feeling tired and in need of oomph, you have come to the right place. This book is giving you real-deal tools and techniques from being highly anxious and stressed, to enjoying a lifestyle of freedom and choice right in this book.

Really didn't get much out of it. Lots of advices are quite basic (such 'organise yourself', 'be careful with what you wish for in life'). The last 3rd of the book are essentially advice to 'make your money work you' and build passive income (which probably reduces your stress level indeed!) I just don't understand this whole thing about everyone should be somehow an entrepreneur to have a rich, meaningful life.

A basic guide for reducing your level of 'stress'.

Some of the points in this book were interesting, but overall it lacked depth and the writing was long winded.
