He’s running from the past. She’s running from the future.
Bruce, prince of the American Sylph and guardian of wind and air, loves mixing business with pleasure. An immortal with excessive appetites, he wields his considerable powers to satisfy them so he can forget his past transgressions. But when he discovers a rogue Phoenix on the loose, pleasure comes with the risk of catastrophe.
After nearly a century in hiding, Serafina is forced to fight against a conspiracy to resurrect the Phoenix. Uniting three of her kind could disrupt earth's elemental balance, unleashing a fiery apocalypse. Can she trust the seductive, mercurial Sylph prince to help her, or will her untested passion and fire doom them both and all they hold dear?
I was born and raised in East Tennessee and spent a great deal of my childhood hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains and wading barefoot in creeks, chasing salamanders, fish, and frogs. We camped a lot, and we loved to tell stories while sitting around our campfire.
Those days of frog chasing sparked my interest in biology, which I pursued in college and later in graduate school. A working scientist by day, I never lost my love of sharing stories. I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember and am thrilled to be working as a writer.
I live in Nashville, Tennessee with my husband, two children, three cats, and my very active imagination.
Aww, Bruce may be my new favorite elemental! He's been a great character from the beginning of the series and I loved seeing him in his element (pun intended). The introduction of the Phoenix species was very well done and in a way a little sad. Thinking that she has no other option, Seraphina is ready to immolate and end the reign of terror her kind can cause. But Bruce isn't ready to give up on her and will do whatever it takes to convince her to give living a chance.
Not my usual genre, and yet I absolutely loved this contemporary paranormal romance! Firestorm is a fast, fun read with a yummy romance story line and plenty of save-the-earth-before-it's-too-late excitement. The author kept me guessing in terms of the plot, the developing central relationship, the roles of the secondary characters, and best of all, slowly revealing key details of the various elemental guardians (abilities, powers, purpose, beliefs, etc). Not only is this quality writing, but I'm amazed by the sheer creativity and complexity of the world D.B. Sieders has built! I will definitely be reading more by this author!
I really like Bruce, I mean its Bruce. I've adored Bruce since his first snarky appearance in Lorelei's Lyric. I love how he is completely poleaxed by Sera yet knows exactly what to do. I love Bruce It's completely unexplainable, but of all of DB Sieder's heroes, Bruce is the man. He's not perfect, he has personality issues, and blind spots, but I adore him ( I mean if I were filling out a Q&A on book boyfriends I should prefer Vance from Lorelei's Lyric.) Now that everyone is clear on where I stand in regards to Bruce: This was a fun read. I actually ended up enjoying the ensemble cast of characters who have been building since the first book. And I did not actually hate Sera, which can happen when I adore the lead male that much.
I loved this book... never knew what to expect next... pheniox and elements, light and dark... a war about to start. But will everything burn... from life comes death.. read this book if you enjoy reading about the elements and their powers... and don't for get a little steam inbetween.

We dive right into the action as the book begins with the writhing character believing he was dying – or not, since he abruptly realized he was already dead! (Yep, got my attention!) The elemental energy pulled his body together in a painful coalescence of new life. He was the first of three, a fire elemental, as the Sylph announced that the time of cleansing was at hand!
Several air guardian elementals were sitting in tree branches overlooking an airport in the early morning, laughing and teasing each other. Apparently they were there to check out a hybrid Sylph, Arthur Hawk, who was in charge of a group of sky-diving humans. If he messed up and displayed his little bit of power to the mortals, he could kill someone or expose their existence to the humans. He had to be stopped! Things were already tense with the signs of unrest among the Dark Sylphs and the rumored awakening of the ancients.
At the airport, Sera was nervously preparing for her first jump when the owner, Arthur Hawk, came up and said he would be her tandem partner for this. Sera was immortal and was berating herself for her fear since she couldn’t die; but having the experienced owner made her feel a tiny bit better. But then he looked over at some trees with a worried frown, and that made her worry too that he was alarmed! Bruce, one of the stronger Sylphs, moved closer to Sera and Hawk as they jumped. He was trying to observe whether Hawk would create additional wind power to help him; instead, Bruce felt a fierce wave of heat strike his body! He recognized the presence of a full-blooded fire elemental as the woman glowed and flames erupted on her skin.
He and the woman crashed to the ground and, off in the distance, they saw Sera's brother, a Phoenix rise up and fly away! Because of the Sylph interference, the world was in great danger. If 3 fire elementals unite, the resulting disruption of the elemental balance could bring on the fiery destruction of the world! Where can they turn for help? Can this developing disaster be stopped?
This was a really good book! The action never stopped! I recommend this book with no hesitation. I voluntarily reviewed this book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.
It's easier to state this up front - I will reference the other books in the series in my review, however this one can stand alone so don't worry if this is where you decide to start. For those of you who have been reading this series, I'm sure you've been just as anxious as I have to see cocky (but still loveable) Bruce meet his match. I even mentioned it in my review for Lorelei's Lyric, but I definitely didn't see Serafina coming ... and neither did he :)
Like with the other books, Sieders gives readers a wonderful complex world - not just with there paranormal element but the personal as well as the political. There's a lot of inner-workings between the different factions of the elementals and she does a great job of describing it in a way that is pretty easy to apply to society today without getting overly preachy. It helps you see not only their world in a way that you can understand but also gives you a chance to look at your own a little differently as well.
While there is danger and intrigue over the Phoenix resurrection & potential apocalypse, there's also a lot of drama with Bruce and Sera. He's been carrying a lot of guilt over some decisions he's made throughout his very long life. While she's spent her much shorter one living in fear and hiding who she is, never really living. But meeting each other, and the unrest that has caused it, puts them in a situation where they could help each other address their troubles. And find themselves falling in love at a time when they least expect it.
While this one came off as a little more traditional in the paranormal romance genre than the first two books, Sieders still delivers a well-written and intriguing supernatural world with a plot that pulls you in and characters that keep you turning pages until the very end. I know there's more to come and I'm intrigued to see what direction she's decides to take her stories next.

An interesting story with the Phoenix as the main paranormal. But there are several other types including slyphs of dark and light. I loved the the change of the story of phoenixes. The two main characters were drawn to each other but that didn’t mean instant chemistry. That came over time and they had to build their relationship. I missed the other stories in the series but was still able to follow it easily.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Bruce's story is a bit different from Lorelei and Ilsa's story. I think this series is super cool to include other fantasy creatures like Sylphs and Phoenixes. These are all creatures that it seems like are rarely included; the variety in species makes me love this series even more. I also love that the author really built the relationship between Bruce and Sera instead of an insta-love. This one seemed a lot faster paced than the first two in the series and it was very well written!
I loved this narrator's performance in Bruce's story and the whole series! Her narration easily takes these books to the next level. She is clear and consistent with character voices and we can easily distinguish who is talking throughout. She brings out the character's emotions and feelings and made them super easy to love. Her voice is an excellent fit for this series!

This is my 1st read and review for this author and wow what a fantastic read it is. This story takes off right from the start and I was amazed because it usually takes awhile to get a hold of the story but not in this one. This story captured me from the start I really loved the characters Bruce and Seraphina and the details of the Elemental Guardians, there are also a few hot sexy scenes and it fit right into the story without overpowering it. This is an amazing read and I for one will be looking out for more from this author. A 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Adult PNR fantasy, elemental magic & shape shifters. by Shoshanahlila
An entertaining read from D.B. Sieders. She works with the primise of "What if the elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) were personified and interacted with humans and each other?" In this interesting concept that does not limit itself to any one region's myth, but borrows from many. She interweaves a love story and a revalution of thought to allow understanding of purpose and bring about balance without getting preachy. I look forward to book two.

An Sylph prince carries a secret burden and learns to share happiness and pain when he meets his mate, a phoenix who is afraid of her own powers. It is a beautiful story of self-discovery while at the same time an epic story, as Dark Sylphs try to use the phoenix and her family to bring destruction. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Thrilling at times, sweet and emotional at times it is a highly entertaining mix, addictive for me. I honestly could not put down this book. I loved every second and hpe there will be more books from this author.
This book was really good and I liked it very much. I didn't read the first two books that came before this, but I wish that I did. Not that this book can't stand as a stand alone, but it would paint a picture of the author's writing style and the characters story. This book is filled with fascinating characters, especially a strong female lead character. It's a dark fantasy, filled with a sexy chemical reaction, and humor. It has a mix of many things and it was enjoyable. I think I'll continue on after I go back and read from the first book.
D.B. Sieders does a wonderful job with this series! I’ve listened to all three so far and I have enjoyed each one! Bruce’s story is wonderful, after getting to known him in the first two books, to read! He is such a softhearted and wonderful friend! His whole character is revealed to us in this one... not just his flirty loving side! It’s a wonderful story and I recommend it highly!
Stefanie Kay’s voice works really well with these characters and she makes it so easy to tell who is speaking when. Love her in this!!
Fantastically descriptive and captivating this fantasy romance is wonderful to read. Part of the Southern Elemental Guardians series, I hadn’t read the other two books before reading this one and had no problem reading it as a stand-alone novel. With fantastic characters wrapped in myths and magic, this book is filled with enticing action, conspiracy and romance. A great read!
I loved reading this book but I wish I would have read the first 2 books. That way i could get the bigger picture of everything this can be read as a stand alone but I usually want to start at the begining to get a better picture of it all. I loved it all the same.

So I fell in love with Bruce in the first book in this series. He's only in Loreleis Lyric for a tiny bit, but enough for me to know I needed to read a full book of him. I was not disappointed. He is a total smart ass at all the wrong times, yet he is my designated book boyfriend for this entire series.
A fun magical read with two people coming together. Thrilling and storyline is great. A well thought of book. I was given this book via Booksprout for a honest review
The other SEG books have dealt with the mermaid sisters, but in this story, Bruce meets his match. Sera is exactly what he needs. The test this time is not personal, but worldwide--Bruce and Sera have to work together to save us all and they find something special in each other at the same time.
The third book in the series and was a well-written story that I enjoyed reading. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
