The first and last time I read a Chicken Soup for the Soul series was around 8 years ago (Teenage Soul). I always wanted to purchase another but was deterred by the expensive price. Thank goodness I bought this at the Big Bad Wolf sale. The book provided several anecdotes that succeeded in producing a range of emotions - I laughed at some of the stories, reread beautiful quotes and wise sayings, and identified with some of the haphazard real-life characters. Of course some stories just passed right over my head and some didn't stay long, but some stories did linger. Being a newly wed, this book has taught me - in a way - to prepare for the long years of marriage afterwards (hopefully!), to cherish my partner always despite our imperfections and opposite traits, to not give up even when there are bumps along the way. Cheers to that.
Wow. I can't believe it took me that long to finish this one.
Ok, so I'm not married. I'm not even in a relationship. I picked this book up only because I don't have anything else to read so I sneaked into my sister's bedroom (who is newly married, btw) and stole her book. She hasn't even read this book but here I am, giving it a go before my married sister does.
Anyway, like any other Chicken Soup versions, the stories are very inspiring; makes me long for that someone who I will eventually spend the rest of my days with. I'm not married but I think that every married person should read it. Or at least try. It's true to its word - it gives inspiration, and I hope that it will inspire my sister, too, when she finally gets her hands on it.
A wonderful book filled with stories by those who have been married for decades. They were so heartwarming to read as I enter year 3 of marriage and on my way to following in their footsteps by having a long and wonderful marriage!!!
Oh some of these were so tear inducing. Others were funny. My favorite was a story about a woman who compared the sweet simple things her husband did for her to getting flowers. It resembled my own marriage. Stories full of respect and love. Truly great for wives to read and for husbands to get tips.I loved the comic with the wife watching her husband iron clothes. A true gem to have on the shelf.
It has been a long time since I've read one of these books. Again it didn't disappoint. I enjoyed reading all of the stories and made me think about the kind of marriage I have.
full of silly jokes was not useful like the other chicken soup stories i thought i am going to love this book as much as i loved the others but i really hated all the stories in it :(
