Noelle Wentworth doesn’t mind getting away from St. Augustine to fill in at her ailing aunt’s candle shop. A few weeks in Snowing Rock will help her get past the humiliating memory lapse that ruined an important piano concert—and, ultimately, her marriage to her overbearing duet partner.
She’s mentally rehearsing for her comeback performance when the bus she’s riding in slides off an icy mountain road. And one deep, calming voice emerges from the confusion to slow her racing heart—right before his ruggedly handsome face kicks it back into allegro.
Gabe Waters is usually prepared for anything—as a professional stuntman, his life depends on it—but nothing prepared him for Noelle, the unattainable high school crush whose bravery saved him from more than just a bully’s flying fist. There’s no hint she recognizes him, but Gabe knows that face, those eyes…and he sees something that wasn’t there before. Distrust and apprehension.
Their unexpected attraction kindles something as warm and sweet as a holiday candle. But the weight of their pasts could turn the promise of love to ashes.

The perfect book to enjoy during the holiday season!
Noelle returns to Snowing Rock to help out at her Aunt's candle shop. After a failed piano concert performance and a bitter divorce, she is reluctant to trust again. Enter the handsome Gabe Waters and Noelle's resolve is broken.
Full of second chances, misunderstandings, romance, a Christmas wedding and the perfect holiday setting, this is wonderfully romantic book! If you love reading romance novels and the Christmas season, this is the right book for you!
The performance by the narrator is perfect and really adds to the enjoyment of the book.
A well written Christmas story of two people Noelle Wentworth and Gabe Waters that have a lot to get through before they get their happy ending. Once I started reading I was not putting the book down until I finished reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
First, I want to thank USA’s Best-Selling Author Josie Riviera and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
USA’s Best-Selling Author Josie Riviera’s Candlelight and Mistletoe cover immediately caught my attention as it looked like a sweet Christmas card. Lately, all I have been wanting to read is Christmas books seeing it is this time of year. Candleglow and Mistletoe read like one of the amazing Christmas movies on Hallmark Channel that I love to curl up and watch. In fact, I think it would be great as a movie on that channel and highly suggest Josie Rivera submit her manuscript. They are seeking unsolicited writers as of February 2019. She would be an amazing addition to the Hallmark Channel Christmas movie lineup! I would watch it and I know her fellow readers would too.
What an incredible start to an amazing book!! I love when authors jump right into the story within the first few pages and hook you into the story! I was in awe and glued to the pages from there on out til the book was done.
Josie created some intriguing characters are so diverse that I have never read about before. Not to mention she is an amazing storyteller too. I love how these characters came together on a bus ride tragedy. Josie made me fall in love instantly with a sweet little girl named Anjalia. That girl made my heart melt. Later in the book I found out her story and it was a unique one. Noelle was a famous Pianist whom was very gifted but was working out some issues of her own. Gabe who once was a small sickly kid with diabetes was now a stunt double in the latest blockbuster film that came out. This book is dedicated to all Josie’s wonderful readers who have supported her every step of the way. She is very thankful of you.
She would like to acknowledge her patient husband, Dave, and her wonderful three children. In the note from the author she mentions that she loves the warm holiday candles and how she learned a lot about making the candles while researching this book. This was one of my favorite parts of the book when Noelle learned how to make candles. It brought a smile to my face as I fondly remember learning how to make candles as a Girl Scouts back in the day. Grant it I didn’t make all the fancy kinds that Noelle had to make in the shop. But I did get a feel and understanding for it.
Josie did something unique that I have never seen many authors do. However, I do feel that it was quite fitting for the book. She included her Butter Ball Cookie Recipe into the book. What is Christmas without a Christmas Cookie Recipe?!
At the end of the book she includes an excerpt of another Christmas book A Snowy White Christmas.
I would gladly read and review for Josie again!! She is very gifted and no wonder she is on the USA Best Selling Author List!!
This is such a Sweet story! The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.
The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind. Their attitudes toward the events that are happening makes the story even richer.
I received a copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Candle Glow and Mistletoe is a heart warming holiday romance. It's a young love finding each other later in life story. The premise is typical but enjoyable. It's perfect for the holiday because it's a light fast read. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Gabe has had a crush on Noelle ever since she defended him against a bully in high school fifteen years ago, but she was so focused on her music that she never really knew he existed. After a disastrous performance, she’s trying to make a comeback and prove to her self-centered ex that she’s still a great concert pianist and she can’t afford any distractions right now. But Gabe is determined to make sure she notices him. He has to help her overcome her trust issues from when he husband divorced her after that performance and make her realize there’s more to life than music. Gabe tells Noelle about his health issues dealing with type 1 diabetes, but she never tells him about her potential fertility issues. There were a lot of ups and downs in this clean holiday romance.
Noelle is a professional pianist and has dedicated all her life to practicing without stopping. Gave is a stuntman and he has loved Noelle since they were teenagers. I liked Gabe’s patience and generosity. There should be men like him in the real world. I also liked Noelle, she is a compassionate woman with trust issues. The book is easy to read and has lovely characters. This book made you smile, and I enjoyed reading it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The story of nowadays stuntman, Gabe Waters and pianist Noelle Wentworth , is an absolutely sweet, touching story that is perfect for the holiday season or anytime of the year. Neither expected, that after so many years , fate would bring them together. Will it also give them a chance of finding their HEA? This is a story about overcoming the past, trust, and new beginnings.
Sweet Christmas Story, second chance meeting with Noel and Gave give them the shot at love , if Joel can focus on forgiving and letting go of the past. I normally enjoy the characters but Noel was a bit Of a struggle for me. I do recommend this book ,it is a enjoyable story.
I loved this romance Christmas story . The author did a great job on the story and the characters..Noelle is going to Snowing Rock to help out her aunt that is in therapy . She is trying to get over a failed piano concert she did with her ex-husband . She has got to practice and get ready for her come back piano concert in between working in her aunts candle shop. Gabe is a professional stuntman ,and he realized that he knew Noelle as the girl he went to school with and had a big crush on. He is not prepared at seeing Noelle again. What will he do? Gabe is the perfect hero and gentleman. All Noelle is thinking about is practicing for her concert. She does not have time for anything else. Can Gabe be patient with her if he still loves her? I was given a complimentary copy of this book , but was not told I had to give a review. All options are my own.
Noelle travels to Snowing Rock to help in her aunt’s candle shop. While there, she must continue preparing for the biggest piano concert of her career. She might be willing to give up some practice time for Gabe Waters, though. He seems dependable, but life has taught her not to trust people.
I loved this story from the very beginning! Noelle was so focused. It was great to watch Gabe pull her out of her shell. I could feel her vulnerability and also her determination to be the strong person she truly was. Gabe...sigh! Gabe was pretty much the perfect hero! This is the first thing I’ve read by Josie Riviera. I am very excited to read more of her work!
Anxiety and fear cause Noelle to wonder if she will ever be able to play the piano again. She decides to help out in her Aunt's candle shop. Noelle is trying to learn to trust again and possibly fall in love. Will an injury prevent her from playing the piano? The author gives descriptions of the candle scents that made me think of Christmas. This is a sweet story of finding courage and love again.
It’s never too early for a good Christmas story and I found one this just as enchanting now as I would have if I waited another three months to read it. There is also a delicious looking cookie recipe (it is not specifically a Christmas cookie) included.
Noelle Wentworth, a professional pianist living in Saint Augustine, Florida, has lost confidence in herself after making a serious mistake in her last concert. She is preparing for her first performance since that time, but her aunt asks for her help running her candle shop in Snowing Rock, North Carolina when she is in the hospital. Noelle meets Gabe Waters, a professional stuntman, who stops to help when her bus is involved in an accident just before reaching her destination.
Sparks fly between Gabe and Noelle, but Noelle’s insecurity about her upcoming concert has her focused on keeping on track preparing for her performance. Can he convince her to give him a chance? Can she juggle her feelings for Gabe while helping at the candle shop and worrying about getting in plenty of practice time?
I loved getting to know them, as well as meeting other residents of Snowing Rock. This story is a sweet read, so there is no need to be concerned about language or explicit descriptions.
As this is a novella, things progress at a fairly rapid pace, but the author skillfully finds a way to help us get to know both Noelle and Gabe and to understand why they act as they do.
If you are ready to settle down and enjoy a good holiday romance, then I suggest that you give this one a chance. Merry Christmas!
I asked for and received a copy of this book from the author. However, any opinion given here is entirely my own.
An accident on the way to Snowing Rock reunites high school classmates Noelle Wentworth and Gabe Waters. She doesn’t remember him, but he sure remembers her. He had a big crush on her back then. Time has changed them both. Noelle is now a concert pianist who has returned to Snowing Rock to help run her aunt’s candle shop while her aunt is recovering from a fall, and to practice for an important upcoming concert. Gabe went from a sickly, scrawny teenager to a famous Hollywood stuntman. He’s moved back to town and is in the process of helping plan his sister’s wedding.
Both have career commitments, yet the more time they spend together, the more attracted they become to each other. Noelle has a lot of trust issues due to the way she was treated by her ex-husband and is feeling less sure of herself and her talent after her last failed concert. Although she’s growing fonder of Gabe, she’s not sure she can trust him. After all, he made a promise to her and didn’t keep it, gave no explanation, and she thinks he snuck off to see another woman. Noelle was a little annoying when she repeatedly thought the worst of Gabe because of his career commitments, thinking he should put her first, yet she didn’t make any motions to put him above her own career.
A sweet holiday story of hope, second chances, new beginnings, and understanding.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A wonderfully well written small town second chance romance. The characters were interesting and relateable. This sweet romantic story was entertaining and an excellent short story about vulnerability and strength with learning to trust again. It included twists and turns along with some mystery as fears and obstacles were overcome to realize they were made for each other. A perfect holiday romance as Noelle wants to prove to the word she is an excellent pianist after a disasterous performance and frighteninghealth scare. Trying to recover from her depression of a horrible performance and a broken marriage, she goes back to Snowing Rock to help her Aunt in her candle store while she recovers from her hip surgery. On the way she is in an accident that Gabe a local who has loved Noelle since high school helps from the icy roads. A wonderful sweet journey as Gabe helps her regain confidence and learns to trust again to their HEA. The narration by Liz Beachel was amazing as you could really feel the emotions and the holiday spirit as described making the storyline even more magical and really made the story come to life. I loved how she was able to brilliantly change her voice so you knew exactly who was talking or thinking.
This is a well-written, well-narrated, sweet book about Noelle, a concert pianist with trust issues, and Gabe, a handsome and caring movie stunt man with health concerns. They meet when he’s the first on the scene following an accident involving the bus on which Noelle is traveling. From that moment on, he’s there whenever she needs him. Can he chip away at Noelle’s injured heart?
This is a lovely story, filled with two talented people. Noelle has come to Snowing Rock because her aunt is hospitalized following a nasty fall. Noelle plans to help out in her aunt’s candle shop, until she must return home for a last-chance concert that could make or break her career. The pressure of this makes her desperate to practice as much as possible, but it’s not easy to do with broken pianos, injuries, and that gorgeous guy doing his best to keep her and her piano apart.
If you’re looking for a clean, light-hearted, fun audio book with an inspirational message, this would be a good choice for you.
I received a free copy of this audio book from the author. While I appreciate her generosity, it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to listening to this audio book.
Candleglow and Mistletoe by Josie Riviera Noelle is traveling to Snowy Rock and going to tend to her aunt's candle store. After the crash she gets help from Gabe, a local and she's terriried of the icy roads. She had also met a little girl and her mother-who had gotten injured.... What I like from the start are the music she plays-sounds so comforting and soothing as do the candle scents. Like hearing all the tips on the candle making process and why it burns when wax gets too low. Like Gabe's career and learning about it. She is able to find another piano to play because she's aunts is broken. She opens up about her past and marriage... There are other conflicts as he's taken Lucille out for Thanksgiving dinner and she's the owner of the other candle shop in town. Love hearing of the scenes and activities they do, so precious. Love that Holly has come to set the record straight about Gabe...and that she had gotten through the performance with her ex. Author bio and excerpt from A Snowy White Christmas is included. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end. Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
A bus accident brings them together for the second time. Fifteen years later, will fate be kind to Gabe and give him a second chance with the girl he fell in love with in high school? With her spirit broken after a bad marriage and a devastating piano performance, Noelle comes home to help her injured aunt run her candle store. In a sweet, small town where everyone knows your business, she can’t hide away forever.
Trust is hard for Noelle. With persistence, kindness, and unrequited belief that Noelle is the one for him, Gabe works to gain Noelle’s trust. This story is so sweet, as the characters slowly build trust between them, and unfold insecurities to face their own issues. But sometimes trust is hard to earn when each has a past where expectations were shattered.
A heartfelt tale of learning to trust oneself and another finally leads to true love and a happy Christmas. The ending is so sweet, it made me want to go back and reread as the characters each fight their way to believing another could offer faithful commitment. Also loved the attention to detail about piano playing, candle-making, and stuntman job.
Noelle has it all planned out, she will return home to Snowing Rock to help her ailing aunt like a dutiful niece. Then she will return back to the big city and redeem herself as a world renowned pianist. Only there's one problem standing in her way... Gabe Waters. The rugged and handsome man who saved her bus after an accident. Will Noelle be able to hold in her feelings and push through, or will she learn the hard lesson that love concurs all?
I really enjoyed this fun and sweet holiday romance. I found many of the characters to be realistic and loveable. The details given by the author were so vivid I felt as though I could picture everything! The only downfall I found was at times the main character, Noelle, seemed very self centered. However, this did not take away from the story.
If you enjoy listening to audiobooks I found this narrator to be wonderful. Her voices were distinct and I enjoyed listening to her tell the story.
I would definitely recommend Candleglow and Mistletoe.
Noelle Wentworth should be practicing for her upcoming piano performance with her controlling ex-husband Colin but instead, she is in Snowing Rock running her Aunt Joy’s candle shop while Aunt Joy recuperates from an injury. Her confidence is shaken since her last disastrous performance and her subsequent divorce because of it. She no longer trusts anyone, especially men.
Gabe Waters is not the skinny, weak boy that adored her in high school anymore. He is now a professional stuntman - handsome and extremely fit - but he still worships Noelle even though she does not remember him from their youth. Gabe returned to Snowing Rock after his divorce and has no desire to risk his heart anymore in a relationship with any woman.
Josie Riviera has written another beautiful, clean romance. The characters are relatable and the setting is perfect. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
A woman befriends a young girl on a bus as she heads to her aunt place in Florida. But on the journey the bus meets with an accident injuring the girl’s mother. A stuntman who happens to live in the area happens to come to their aid.
She isn’t looking for love as she recently still suffering from the mental abuse of her former husband as she tries to move past her last performance which was disastrous due to a mental lapse in her piano recital.
He remembers her as a bright light in his childhood when he was bullied and she punched a bully to protect him. As their paths cross again, will it turn to something more this time around? A sweet love story with the drop of Christmas in the air.
Candleglow and Mistletoe is a sweet, uplifting holiday romance filled with love, family and friendship. Noelle comes to town to assist her aunt Joy with her candle shop while she is recovering from surgery. Gabe, remembering his deep feelings for Noelle from their once chance meeting in high school, pursues Noelle, determined to win her as his wife. Noelle is broken and trying to get over her piano concert partner & ex-husband, Colin and her last miserable concert performance with him. Can Noelle learn to trust again? Will Gabe be able to break through her walls?
This book just makes you happy. The beautifully described scenery makes the reader feel the crisp, cold air and smell the pine trees of the quaint little town. A short, easy, holiday pick me up, this was a cool relief to read in July.
Noelle is trying to get her career back but why she is hiding from the world in rockbottom to her aunt's candle shop, which she knows nothing about but she is figuring out day by day until a power outage causes her to burn her hand on a candle. Gabe is a guy from high school but Noelle doesn't remember him but he does because he has had a crush on her since she saved him from a bully. Gabe and Noelle are very cute together but there is a girl named Lucia trying everything she can to come between them every chance she can get. Will Noelle and Gabe make it or will something or someone come between them. This book was very well written I enjoyed it so much I read it in one day and I recommend this book to everyone I know.
She was his hero 15 years ago- now he wanted to be hers
This isn’t a second chance but a first chance 15 years after the first. He had never forgotten her and had fallen in love with her a little bit that first day. For all her exquisite loveliness, life hadn’t been good to her or easy. As a rising concert pianist her star was flying high until it wasn’t. In one disastrous night she had lost her career and husband and self worth. He had grown up from the skinny neglected high school kid to be a much in demand movie stunt man, with one weakness he wanted to forget about but could never ignore. This is about rising from the dust of failure and personal relationship nightmares to success and HEAs. Such a great story. Clean and wholesome.
A lovely story of Noelle, whom had returned to her hometown to help, her recuperating aunt, run her candle shop. She runs into Gabe, whom she had barely known in high school, but he had had a huge crush on her. He had lost track of her, but had never forgotten her. Their lives were entwined, from the moment they meet again. A strong attraction, some meddling townsfolk and they were destined to fall for each other. But can Noelle trust again? There are a lot of twists and turns in this short story. It held my interest throughout the book. The characters are endearing. Noelle has had a-lot to deal within the last year. Gabe had a rough childhood, but has found his way to success. An enjoyable read. The narrator is clear and expressive.
I listened to the audiobook of this story. Narrator was wonderful. Noelle can't get away from St. Augustine fast enough. Even though she is heading to Snowing Rock to help her Aunt in her candle shop, she can try to get over a terrible piano concert. On route, the bus she is riding in slips off the road in the snow. The first to come to her aid is Gabe. He hasn't see her since highschool and had a huge crush on her and still does. After the accident, he wants to spend more time with her, hoping she will have the same feelings for him. Can Noelle get past the hurt of her divorce and move on and trust again. Perfect book for the holidays. I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.
I truly enjoyed reading this book! Candleglow & Mistletoe is a delightful & touching Christmas romance. Noelle has had a lot of heartache in her life. Because of it, she does not trust that easily. Noelle traveled to Snowing Rock to work in her aunt's candle shop, while her aunt heals. There was an unfortunate bus accident, an a kind stranger came to their rescue. Gabe has had feelings for Noelle since high school. But she wouldn't of noticed him back then. The situation is different now. He's strong & healthy. And, Gabe wants Noelle is his life. I loved everything about this Christmas story!!
I loved this story. This is a sweet and wonderful and just all around really good story. The hero is close to the most perfect hero I think I have ever read. I also love the heroine and she really needed this hero to help her find that you can be happy with all the right elements right in place. She just can’t see reasoning as she is a focused pianist who is trying to get ready for her re entry onto the stage after a memory lapse at her last concert. This story is one you will want to read from beginning to end as you just can’t put it down because you can’t wait to see what is next. I highly recommend this story and I guarantee you will love it if you are a true romance reader.
