Buck Me... For Halloween
What about a quick buck to take the scare away?
This Halloween isn't going to be any better than any holiday before or after it for buck shifter Vix Frost? Why? Because he's working, that's why. Even if the latest delivery brought the pilot to Salem Massachusetts on the eve of the scariest night of the year, he can't help but feel a little disappointed. After all, seeing most of his brothers get married and leaving him with the brunt of the work can do that to an Alpha shifter used to having his way. Good thing he runs into the sexiest woman ever, or this whole Halloween nonsense could have been a complete bust.
Samarra Alderley is a curvy woman who is done letting life get her down. The talented event planner has decided to take life by the horns and even if her ex-boyfriend cheated on her and tried to take half the company she built, Samarra has stubbornly decided to not let it distract her from putting on the coolest haunted house Salem has ever seen. And Salem has seen a lot of haunted houses!
There's only one little problem. Or, well, a million little problems, the biggest of which being that the hunky delivery guy keeps messing with her mind!
Well, either that or the creepy stalker who abducts her in the middle of the night. Either-or.
Can Samarra pull off what feels like the impossible without losing more in the process? Can Vix get what he wants for once or is it just another sucky Halloween? Something's got to give and it sure as hell won't be either of these two... Unless love finds a way, that is!

This was an enjoyable story. I liked both Vix adn Samarra and liked their story (FYI...this was a major insta-love). This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I may read more of her work in the future.
Samarra is a event planner that also works as a barista to make ends meet. She's currently putting together a haunted house in Salem for Halloween and is doing a good job of it. She used to be in business with her ex boyfriend but he cheated on her with an employee and then tried to cheat her in business.
Vix is a pilot that works for his family's shipping company. He and his brothers are all reindeer shifters who also have a Uncle "Nick" (which makes me think there's some info from earlier books in the series that tell more about the family). Many of Vix's brothers have found mates and aren't doing as much work as they used to. As a result, Vix is feeling a little overloaded when he makes his last delivery the night before Halloween.
Vix's last delivery ends up being a lot of fake blood for Samarra's haunted house. Vix was feeling pretty grumpy about things until he met Samarra and then he was just thinking about her. After making the delivery, Vix was supposed to leave but leaving felt wrong and VIx soon realized that Samarra must be his fated mate. He goes back and Samarra is pretty happy about it because the attraction between them if definitely mutual. Some trouble shows up and Vix helps Samarra through it and it bonds them. Things have the possibility of going sideways but thankfully, Vix makes the needed effort and he and Samarra end the story together and looking to head into a HEA.
This was an enjoyable story. I liked Samarra...she messed up twice in how she handled Vix but she was a good character overall. Vix was a good hero and I liked him. While I've read a lot of shifter books, this one is my first reindeer shifter story and it was an interesting twist. The story was short and while I was expecting that, there was something about the story that seemed lacking...maybe because of the length. I mean overall, it was a pleasant story and I could see why some rated it higher but I just didn't quite get there. Still, I enjoyed the story and it was a nice easy read so I may read more by this author.

Boo! Gotcha!
Samaraa would have never guessed her knight and shining armour would be coming bussing in her door breaking up her mannequin like mighty mighty mouse here I come to save the day...lol I crack myself up. Well at least that's what he thought when Vic heard screams and moans coming from the creepy house. But when he looked up from the fire place and saw the most beautiful face he ever saw in his life. His life chance before his eyes. He found his mate. All the stuff his brothers have told him was true. He never wanted to look at another person again. He had all this fake blood to deliver and for once was glad he was delivering it although he was a piolet. If this was his chance to meet his mate so be it. Although Samaraa was looking into the most gorgeous guy she ever met this was not the time to get involved. She just broke up with her ex-business partner and boyfriend all rolled up in one. Considering he couldn't keep it in pants. After unloading his truck and leaving he felt he should have asked her out and Samaraa felt she should have given him her number he went back have telling Ru she was his mate. Once at the haunted house of Salem he realized something g was off. Rushing in to find his woman and finding her in the kitchen and seeing blood dripping from a butcher knife along with freaking scary sounds everywhere while the controls were off something was up. When all of a sudden Samaraa was snatched from behind and dragged out of the house...Dunn dun...wtf! Are there real ghost in Salem? Happy Halloween.... I hope you didn't think that was the review. Viz buck bust out and ram that door and came out threw the back. Chased down the kidnapper and rescued his woman. The rest is too comical but once he got her to the hotel he lost her again but you gonna have to get the book to read what happens next. Can't tell you the story just remember Anya never leaves you hang in but for for more.

I love Anya Nowlan’s work and this book is no exception. I loved this novella, it is an obsessively addictive read and i could not stop turning the pages of this book.
I adored the storyline of this book, it is a fun and quirky story that you will fall in love with. The way that this book is written you definitely feel part of the story, you are definitely drawn into the story and i loved that it was about a different kind of shifter and not what people normally write about.
I loved how protective and caring Vox is in this story, he definitely comes across as an alpha male that knows who he is and what he wants. He is not only protective but he is also extremely caring. I also loved reading about Samarra, although she is recently been through a lot of pain and heartache she is still confident in who she is and is a strong woman who is determined to make her dreams a reality. She is the kind of woman that makes you want to live out your own dreams by just reading her part in this story.
This is a definite must read abd i would recommend it to everyone to read, i voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy of this book. I absolutely adored this book!!!!

I am really enjoying these Shifter Grove stories as you get to read about so many different types of shifters. The storyline of this book is fun and with a quirkiness that you will love, you are drawn into it from the start and I really liked that it was about a different kind of shifter than usual.
Vix is instantly protective/caring, definitely an alpha male that knows who he is and that he wants his mate. Samarra has been through a lot of pain and heartache recently down to her ex but she is confident and a strong woman who is determined to make her dreams come true. I received this from the author and here is my honest unbiased review.

It was just okay. Shifter tales don't appeal to me much. Also, everything seemed rushed. And the confrontation with the ex-boyfriend needed to be more violent. One hit was not enough; he needed his ass thoroughly kicked.
The author would benefit from using a proofreader. Spelling and punctuation were fine, but there were instances of odd sentence structure and improper word usage. Cases in point:
"epileptic hallways"
"The driveway was riddled with trucks and vehicles"
"the tablet where he could find the order info on"
"It had a sort of a charm"
All in all, not a terrible read, but I'm not motivated to read the next in series.

Cute shifter romance, but a bit too short
This is a cute shifter romance, but it was just a bit too short to have enough character development. The couple meet, fall in instalust, have some steamy sex -- and then they are in love. I needed more background on both of them, as well as more realistic relationship growth. But if you are looking for a really quick shifter romance, with a little steam, this one is entertaining.

An insta-love story that's got lots of fun haunted house talk for the season. Naturally, there's a wrench in the true-love works, but it's resolved super quick, so the lovers can get down to bidness. This was the first book in this series that I've read (because Halloween and October), but there's no spoilers for the earlier books beyond "his brothers and their mates, with kids running around" or some such. A quick read for a short afternoon or late night. Happy Halloween!

This is a sweet series with sweet hunky Buck shifters. I love the holiday theme and that it's connected to Shifter Grove. This time Vix finds his mate and Samarra is pretty interesting. I'm surprised she doesn't work in horror movies as well as making amazing haunted houses.

Not what I was expecting
I just couldn't get into reading this book. It was so not what I was expecting. For me the book started out kind of slow and iffy, and it remained that way til the end. I really expected better from Anya Nowlan, especially after reading some of her other books.

A good Halloween romance

Jam packed with mystery and Halloween fun.
Fix is upset with his lot in life until he walks into a Haunted House and sees a damsel in distress. Read this in the box set so have a slightly biased view.
The most enjoyable one so far. Seemed to have a better relationship between the two H’s. Liked both Samarra and Vix.

ok.. I snagged this book on FreeBooksy, it looked cute as hail for Halloween ,, and I was right. Ended a bit too abruptly, but I can remedy that by reading more of the series. .. it WAS very cute.

I have loved all the Frost Brothers books and this one was no different. Vix and Samara were sweet together and I loved how he "saved" her at the beginning. Loved the Halloween theme too! Read it!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book
Where is that delivery?? Samarra is on a tight schedule. She used to have a partner/boyfriend that would design and operate haunted houses with her, until she found out he was doing the sound girl....and others she is pretty sure. Just going through a last minute walk through inspection, making last minute adjustments and fixes. This would be even better if the fake blood delivery would get here. She is going to make this work, just her and her alone.
Running behind and not knowing where he is going is not Vix's thing. He prides himself on having the deliveries there on time and he takes pride in his work. Skip this, he takes a back road and gets to his destination. Someone is there, all the lights are on. Knocking and no answer, knocking again, opens the door and hollers in, then walks in some more. No answer, but the door slams shut and locks behind him.....what the....??? He walks into a parlor looking room and a person bending down and all of a sudden he sees something shine and he is in full protective mode.
Samarra is stunned by this guy attack one of her figures. This handsome guy fights off this would be attacker....nice....wait she has no more time for that in her life. She is all about work now. But still she can't help but feel a pull to this handsome, let's face it, hot guy in front of her.
Vix is not sure why he is on full protective mode of this really gorgeous lady in front of him. Yes he is a weredeer shifter and his stag lead the way. He can't believe what he feels, his inner stag is calm and relaxed, that is new, especially after this little incident. This just feels right.
He tells her that he is delivering the fake blood, she is relieved it is finally here. They go out to the delivery truck, and without anything happening leaves and she goes back to the house. Something is NOT right, she is struggling with all of it, it is not listening to her. What is going on. Vix is on edge and the further away he gets the stronger that nagging feeling is getting. He turns around. Is he in time? What is happening? Is Samarra safe?
There is a big twist that changes everything....what is it? Can this twist tear them up before they even begin? Can they both admit to their inner feelings? Do they end up together? Wow, this book is a Fantastic read and I definitely wasn't expecting it! I mean, Anya never disappoints! This is a completely phenomenal read for me! I absolutely love this hilariously sexy series from Anya Nowlan and I’m always counting the days to her next book. There is always humor in her storylines that makes me laugh out loud. Overall, this is a another fantastic romance from Anya . I loved every aspect of the attraction journey between our two main characters. Anya always know how to build a hot. steamy and sensual romance and the chemistry in this story is one you don't want to miss. Anya Nowlan is such an amazing romance author and I've love and enjoy all of her books I have read. I knew that this would be a fun read. I enjoyed the storyline so much I couldn't put my tablet down. But from the first page to the last I was memorized. The characters are engaging, fabulous and fantastic. The dialogue is passionate, realistic, and you will love the interaction between the main characters, the chemistry is scorching hot and they leap off the page with life that's so real.
