Frustration is thy name

I am really surprised by the good ratings for this book because I simply do not see it. This was a frustrating, uninteresting, poorly written book.

This book was choppy and illogical in it's pacing. It did not work well in introduction and leapt right into the story with no preamble and almost no explanation after the fact. People were barely ever described - a whole book and I don't even know what the narrator looked like, let alone most of the people around him. There is very little explanation of werewolves and what they are like. Plenty of times the idea of pack comes up, but no body seems to care about the new additions of Mark and Miles going so far as to ignore them when they are literally bleeding and dying. It is a book of illogic and contradiction.

Add into all this mess the ridiculous thoughts and statements. The British guy saying 'By jove' and that making Mark feel racist? The kid brother having a stomach ache and being given painkillers time and again? The special abilities of Mark and weird things like his seizure being brushed off? Too much, too choppy, too poorly written. Not worth your time.

Severely disappointed

I went into this thinking, could this be any better? Shifter, mpreg and BDSM yes please. What actually happened was only shifters and not a whole lot of sense. I stayed confused during the book trying to figure things out. While I figured out who was causing all the issues early on I wanted to understand why. This book was a jumble of nothing. I'd personally skip this one. I've read other books by this author and liked them. This one was a sad representation.

Wow. This is different from what Noah normally writes. It's still the same but with so much more. You have light BDSM and murder which is a first I have read from Noah. I normally have no problem getting into books that Noah writes this one was a little different for me. It took me a couple chapters until I got into the book. There is a lot going on in this book but it was easy to follow. When the book left off it left me wanting more. Noah left it where I was guessing what happened to all the characters at the end of the book. You have Mark who is raising his younger brother Miles. While eating at a restaurant/ hotel Mark makes the mistake of stealing from the wrong person. While there he meets twin waiters who he ends up getting involved with. While he leaves he is in an accident and gets bitten. He trusts the twins but should he? He accuses a man he thinks that attacked him and his brother. Is accusations accurate?

I liked Masterful Surrender by Noah Harris. I loved the storyline, and I liked the characters. Although sometimes Mark and his brother would get on my nerves. They were sometimes too whiny for my liking but having siblings myself I know that Noah Harris has done a good job of portraying their relationship. I did love how Mark got free meals and his relationship with the twins and how it changed over the course of the book. I loved when he starts to grow up and begins to want a more mature relationship. I loved the pack dynamic and how they all work different jobs at the hotel/restaurant. I really loved Don and hope to see more of Mark’s and Don’s relationship in a later book. I loved that Mark works at the reception desk of their BDSM dungeon and gets to use the different rooms with the twins. Thank you, Noah Harris, for another enjoyable story. Noah's new book is a paranormal thriller. You don't know who the good guys are until almost the end. There is a lot of murder attempts and surprises in the story, including BDSM. Marcus Willow is on the run with his young brother. Mark does his best by his brother including selling himself to get money or food for him. He also resorts to stealing...which got them in the worse trouble of their lives. I have full empathy for Mark as he struggles to find answers and a way to escape their predicament. His brother Miles is a brat and wants to stay where they are. Mark fights with everything he has to keep his brother safe. Slowly finding out he can't trust the ones he did the end results look grim. I gave this book four stars because the ending was too quick and left me wanting. Hopefully there is a sequel and I can upgrade the stars. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.

So........

***2.5 stars***

I am still trying to figure out what just happened. The story was everywhere. If you are looking for romance or a HEA, this isn't for you. This is more of a mystery/suspense type book with a bit of sex thrown in.

There really isn't much BDSM in the story as well. Which you think with the title there would be some type of epiphany durning a BDSM scene, then you are wrong just like me.

In addition, I couldn't stand Mark's brother Miles. I understand he's eight, but seriously he needs to be put in his place. He's a kid for goodness sakes.

Oh, and the ending was a let down as well. I thought that the mystery part was going decently, but then the reason behind it was a bit ridiculous.

Noah Harris take us in a slightly different direction with this book, with his usual flair for writing. This book takes you in different directions throughout keeping your interest from the first word to the last. Noah Harris creates characters you want to get to know and want to read about. They are steamy and well written. Pick up a copy of this book I'm sure you will want to find more of his books.

Unusual werewolf story

Mark and his kid brother stop at a hotel in the forest for a meal. Mark goes to wash up and finds a wallet with a lot of cash in it and takes it. He has been on the run stealing his way across the country but this is a hotel owned by a werewolf pack and he isn't getting away when they try to flee. This is a new look at the genre of the normal paranormal view and is worth the read. It is well written, and has a Happy For Now that satisfies. Highly recommended.

This is the first book I have read of Noah Harris. With a new author it takes a chapter or two for me to adjust to the writer’s style. Once into this book I couldn’t put it down it was so intriguing.

Marcus Willow and his younger brother Miles have been on the road jumping from one place to the next trying to outrun the law that’s after them. Their parents died in a car accident and left them orphaned. Marcus, known as Mark, was too young to take legal guardianship over his brother so he grabbed his brother and ran or they would have been separated. He knew what Miles needed not some stranger. But Mark ended up having to steal and do sexual acts to get money which to Mark the sex part was great.

In their travels they ended up in a small town due to Miles hunger and found a place to eat. When they went inside the place looked like it had been a hotel but changed into a restaurant. There were two other guys inside eating. One man had a beard, name Roy that was not Mark’s type and a blond-haired young man, named Don that was Mark’s type but glowered at Mark with no interest. A set of twins, Steven and Stone, were the waiters that showed extreme interest in Mark but were really weird. Mark loved all the attention and flirted back.

Mark left Miles at the table to go the restroom. While in the bathroom, Mark noticed a wallet sitting on the sink. It had a lot of money in it so Mark took it feeling he needed the money more than the old man that owned it. When he returned to his table his brother was talking to Don and enjoying himself. But when Miles older brother showed up the conversation between Mark and Don did not go well and both ended up not liking each other. Though the flirting between the twins continued until eventually the twins suggested Mark and Miles stay the night, then the twins and Mark could have a threesome.

Miles accepted and had his fun for the night. The next morning at breakfast the bearded man, Roy accused Mark of taking his friend’s wallet with money. Mark denied it and he and Miles take off in his car. This is when things started to turn around and a big wolf attacks their car causing an accident and ended up biting Mark but not Miles. Unconscious, they’re rescued by Don and brought back to the town and their injuries taken care of. It’s at this time Mark learns he was now a werewolf and neither of them could leave. Mark was in total denial and wouldn’t believe he was an animal or that they couldn’t leave. But he had his younger brother to contend with when he was adamant able staying.

From here the trouble begins and things start to take off with a series of chaos, mystery, suspense and twists and turns. The “who done it” was suspenseful and kept you guessing who was the good guy and who was the bad guy. I couldn’t put the book down and kept me caught up in the action until the end.

Five stars for Noah Harris’s talent in establishing his characters and slowly bringing them to their true nature. It was done so it crept up and caught you off guard. I really enjoyed his story and look forward to reading more by this talented author. It’s a book I would recommend for any m/m wolf-shifter lover. And worse, will he strike again?

Summary:

"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."

All Marcus wanted out of life was to keep his brother Miles safe and the only way to do that was to stay together. That wasn't easy as they had to stay one step ahead of the law as money was short, but Marcus was willing to get help from men in anyway he could. Marcus never imagined that one act of theft could change his life forever, but that was all it took. They found themselves in an out-of-the way diner where they met two very friendly twins who made both Marcus and Miles feel at home. Unfortunately, not everyone was happy with their presence especially after Marcus found and took a wallet that he found. Leaving in haste seemed a good thing until their car was flipped over before Marcus was bitten by what looked almost like a large dog. Marcus awoke to learning that he was now a werewolf, but like most people he didn't believe that even when he was shown the truth.

That was just the beginning of this incredible story. The twins, Stone and Steven, at first glance were happy-go-lucky, but looks can be deceiving. Another character Don wasn't happy about Marcus and Mile's presence at their pack, but there could be more to his reaction than first thought. The many unique characters brought depth to the story s it unfolded. While I really enjoyed this story it felt like it ended a little bit abruptly leaving me wondering what happened next to Marcus and Miles. I hope there will be more of their story revealed.

Another major hit Mr. Harris!

This story is full of twist and turns that will have you guessing every step of the way. Every time I thought I knew how the story would end, I sent down another road.

The characters are fantastic! The story begins with two brothers, Marcus and Miles. Their parents died before Marcus was old enough to legally care for Miles, so they’ve been running from the law for years. They’ve come to a quiet, beach town in California. Both are tired and hungry. Money is scarce, they’ve been driving for days. Mark has become a skilled thief. He’s always on the lookout for something that will earn him some cash just so the two brothers can survive. What Mark doesn’t realize is, this town is full of werewolves.

Enter in Stone and Steven. They work at the restaurant where Mark and Miles stop to eat. These two twins have their eye on Mark. They’ve shared everything all their lives, including their lovers. After the three men spend a night full of passion together Mark needs to leave town. Only the twins have other plans. Accusations get tossed around and Mark is attacked by and bit, turning him into a werewolf.

Mark thinks he knows who attacked him, but is led to think differently when the clues start pointing in the direction of the twins. Meanwhile, Miles has become sick. Mark has no idea what will help him until someone suggests the only option that will save him is to bite him and turn him into a werewolf also.

Stay tuned for part 2 in this intriguing saga. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book.

“If there’s even an ounce of life in him, there’s still a chance…”

I enjoyed this book and was fairly easily caught up in the tangled mess Mark finds himself snared in. On the run with his younger brother and doing what he could to take care of them, he never could have predicted how dramatically his life would change when he stopped for what he thought would be a simple meal and some adult distraction. Bitten by a werewolf and compelled to stay with the pack, it was impossible for me not to be empathetic to how overwhelmed and confused Mark must have been as he struggled to adapt to his new circumstances and cope with the loss of his humanity. I liked how bold he was, making himself clear about what he wanted and what he disliked, both in the dungeon and out of it, all the while making sure his little brother was taken care of. As the twins’ behaviour gets increasingly erratic and he finds himself questioning what he thought he knew about Don, I found myself as frustrated as he was about who it was safe to trust. It felt almost like I was reading two different stories back to back though, as the focus moves from the dungeon towards pack politics and the threat hovering over them, and while I would have loved to see a stronger transition, I definitely felt like the second half held more for me.

I love shifter books and really enjoy how each author puts a new and different spin on it. This was interesting and not like anything I've read before.

After their parents deaths, Mark has taken his little brother Miles and the two are on the run. Moving from town to town just trying to survive. They stop at a hotel and everything goes south quickly. Mark takes a wallet because he needs the money to feed Miles. When he's confronted about the wallet he tries to leave the hotel but their car is run off the road and Mark is bitten by a werewolf. Mark now needs to come to terms with his new life while trying to figure out who turned him and why.

The story was very entertaining, it had a little bit of everything; sex, intrigue, drama; but it felt incomplete to me. I wanted Miles to see all that Mark has sacrificed for him to have a better life and stop acting like a brat. I wanted romance. The twins really gave me the creeps and I think some romance with Don would have balanced out the story a little. Plus, I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Overall, it was a good read. I hope there will be a second book to answer my questions.

This novella opens by introducing two brothers left feeling alone and adrift following the death of both parents. Marcus takes Miles, his younger brother, to avoid being separated and they begin a journey across the states... scrambling to live and find safe haven to call home. The suspense begins to build from the moment they enter a small town, stop at a diner hungry for an evening meal, and to seek respite from the road. All things weird and wicked, breathing slightly sinister undertones, crawl out of the woodwork from all corners of the diner.... and begin to saunter their way! That includes the handsome and hot twins, Stone and Steven.... who have cast their eyes upon Marcus with a hunger all their own!!!
Usually captivated by a Harris read, I struggled with this one. I was not emotionally engaged partially due to feeling detached from the characters and equally due to a storyline that came across as disjointed in the half of the book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

I'm a Noah Harris fan. I love his stories. But...I struggled with the first half of Masterful Surrender. The story, to begin with, is 'OK' but it tries to be too many things, paranormal shifter, BDSM erotic romance and thriller. As a result it doesn't achieve any of them and I found it disjointed and hard going. Luckily in the second half the story picks up, solidifies, the plot becomes clearer and it's much more readable. As usual the sex scenes are deliciously hot but, for BDSM they were far too quick, detached and lacked detail. I also found it hard to empathise with the characters which again made sticking with it tough. I felt no sympathy for Marcus Willow, despite his circumstances, he grated on me and as the lead character it detracted a bit from my enjoyment of the book. The ending is very good though and ties up multiple plot lines nicely. It's still very much worth reading. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Masterful surrender had several of my favorite genres in this story. I love reading about BDSM, werewolves, mystery and gay erotica. The characters are believable and enduring. Mark loves his little brother Miles, and has kidnapped him so they can be together after the tragic car accident that took their parents. Miles is hungry on their road trip, and they stop in a diner/ restaurant. He meets the twin werewolves that works there, constantly coming on to him. He finds a wallet and takes the content of the wallet, that's when trouble starts and happen. They leave and are attack by a werewolf. Rescued and returned back to the diner. Intrigue happens, experimental BDSM occurs and learning to be an omega. Everything and everyone are not what they seem to be,
Noah created another great read to make you lose yourself in. Great job Noah.

Noah has a gift for writing in the way he gradually draws you in so you feel you are actually involved. This book goes in a slightly different direction for Noah. It is still Paranormal but also has murder, mystery, suspense, romance and sex with a touch of BDSM included in the mix. That is a lot to pack in to one book.
The main characters are two brothers. Mark the elder is a modern day Artful Dodger looking after his younger brother Miles after their parents were killed in a car crash. They are on the run from social services who would take Miles into care as Mark is still a teenager himself. Mark gets into trouble after stealing from the wrong people and their fortunes go from bad to worse. You really cannot guess what is going to happen next.
I felt the door was neatly left open for a sequel if Noah felt inclined.

What would you do to keep your family together? Better yet, what wouldn't you do? That's exactly what Marcus "Mark" Willow is doing; everything thing he can to keep he and his brother Miles together and safe. But when he steals from a town that turns out to be full of werewolves their lives completely change. Maybe for the better.

From the first chapter this book has you on the edge of your seat. The characters intrigue you, the plot twists keep you guessing, and the outcome leaves you wanting even more. The hint of BDSM just added more spice to the story and wondering what's going to happen next. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites and I have enjoyed how his writing style has changed and evolved. I for one am excited to see what Noah Harris comes up with next.

Yet another interesting read from Noah Harris. I have read many shifter/werewolf books but this one was quite different in the fact that the werewolves didn't really turn into wolves exactly. The story was a bit confusing in the beginning but the further I read, the more it made sense. I normally like straight-forward romances but occasionally enjoy some suspense along with the romance. The characters were well thought out and had nice chemistry. However, I have to say that I really didn't like the twins very much, which I think was probably the goal. They weren't very nice if they didn't get their way. But I did enjoy how it ended. And it was nice that Miles finally got what he wanted too. All in all it was a really good read.

would cause him to be one.!! This is a story of the two outsiders finding themselves in the middle of a
Takeover from some disgruntled werewolves... the leader and
His right hand man, Don, who at

This story didn't feel complete to me; I thought that it felt more like part one of a longer work. I was left with many questions after finishing this: Did becoming an omega change Mark in any way other than biological? How would this book have been different if Mark had become an alpha (I honestly don't know if it would have been significantly different)? Were the twins interested in an omega to procreate? If so, why didn't one, or both, take steps to ensure that it happened? An maybe the biggest question of all, where did the hunters come from if loupism is so new? The story made it sound like it had been a thing of generations, but werewolves were created in the last 50 years (or so) by American scientists...

This is an interesting and intriguing book to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is: drama, intrigue, suspense, twists and turns, action, a young man and thief (Marcus) on the run with his young brother (Miles), being attacked, bitten, werewolves, disbelief, fighting, jealousy, betrayal, poison, mild BDSM, flirting, lust, emotional feelings and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written. The characters have emotional feelings with needs and desires according to their personality. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a well written M/M Wolf Shifter Romance with a very interesting HFN ending. I am really looking forward to reading more from this very talented author.

M/M/M, BDSM, Shifter. Mark is on the run with his younger brother Miles. He took him when his parents died and authorities would split them up. He makes money by sexual favors and stealing. They stop at a hotel and Mark finds a wallet full of money and they take off. Things get worse for him when they are stopped, attacked, and unable to leave the hotel. He is forced to be part of the werewolves and something sinister is happening within the pack. Mark finds himself embroiled in the pack politics and trying to figure out who is safe and who is trying to kill him and his brother.

So much in this book made me angry. Not because it was a bad story but because it was written so well. At times, Marks little brother ticked me off. His disrespect for his older brother, his disregard for the rules. I didn't trust the twins from the first time they showed up in the book. All this means it was a great book because I am sure this was meant to make me angry. Also how no one would help Mark when he needed it til the end and his concerns were laughed at. There isn't a lot of romance in this one but that is ok. If all of a sudden Mark fell in love with Don, it would not have seemed right.
Highly recommend this book.
