O'Neil Brothers #3

Rate this book

*Sigh*

I know. I know. Friends to lovers trope has been done to death already. Yes, it can get a little predictable. Yes, there are no big plot twists or anything like that. What it does have are great characters, straightforward yet sweet plot, awesome dialogue and chemistry! Maybe This Christmas ticked all the boxes of what makes a sweet romance read for me, so I AM NOT GOING TO COMPLAIN.

Tyler is a forming skiing champion home and helping out with the family business after suffering a career ending injury. Aside from that he also gained custody of his daughter.

Brenna is Tyler's best friend since forever and has been in love with Tyler her whole life. The problem is she never really thought her feelings would be returned until inevitable circumstances pushed the two of them together. Now, Brenna and Tyler are forced to confront their feelings for each other as well as a few secrets along the way.

I simply adored this book. It's no secret that this trope is one of my favorite trope ever. But apart from the trope, I just fell in love with the Brenna and Tyler. Unlike most books with this kind of theme, there was never any doubt in the reader's mind that the two of them have feelings for each other. The only question is when? When is Tyler going to get his head out of his delectable behind and admit his feelings for Brenna.

Tyler never felt more lost after being forced to retire because of his injury. He loves the ice. The loves to ski and he hated not being able to compete. So as much as he has feelings for Brenna, he doesn't feel like he deserved her so he never pursued her.

Brenna on the other hand is used to saying yes all the time to a point where she gets taken advantaged of. And while she loves Tyler, she just couldn't bring herself to make the move.

Part of what I enjoyed about this book is watching Brenna and Tyler slowly but surely come to terms with their feelings for each other. There were a few angsty moments but other than that, this was a fun and romantic read.

All of the previous MCs of the other books in the series all made an appearance and Vermont in winter was the perfect backdrop for Brenna and Tyler's story. The ending was sweet and oh so satisfying because not only did the guy get the girl and vice versa, Brenna learned to be assertive and Tyler gained a new insight on his life.

3.5 - "It's a perfect powder day." Stars.

Maybe This Christmas is the first book I have read by Sarah Morgan, it won’t be the last. Seeing as it is actually book three in the O’Neil Brothers series, one could say I have a little catching up to do!

She’d been in love with Tyler her whole life, and nothing she did, or he did, had ever changed that.

Brenna and Tyler have been best friends, since they could basically put their own skis on. Both have stronger deeper feelings for the other, but it has never seemed like the right time to look at them more closesly. Tyler is now back with the family and helping to run the Snow Crystal Resort full time, and what with having the addition of full custody of his teenage daughter Jess as well, having Brenna move in with them over the Christmas period, due to the resort being fully booked brings the more than friendly feelings they have been holding for each other right to the fore.

”Whenever you hurt, I hurt. Whatever you feel, I feel. It’s horrible, but I can’t help it. I guess I’ve known you too long. It’s as if we are connected.”

With them both being a little commitment shy, the path of true love doesn’t run a smoothly as a skier over fresh snow. But having a huge family in the background egging them both on, you can’t help but hope that they will get the Christmassy Happily Ever After.

”I’ve wanted you forever. It’s always been you. Always.”

I now have to go do some catching up, Tyler has two brothers, and we haven’t been fully introduced yet!

ARC generously provided via Netgalley, and it was my absolute pleasure to provide the above honest review.

Oh this is such a fabulous read! Absolutely LOVE the O'Neil brothers series by Sarah Morgan! I was waiting for Brenna and Tyler to get together from the first book. Tyler, a former ski champion who can no longer ski after an accident has his issues regarding relationships. After the way he had to fight for his daughter but lost her and having to deal with his one big mistake, her mother, Tyler is naturally apprehensive about getting serious about a woman.
Brenna has been his best friend since they were kids. She knows he loves her but believes its only as a friend. Little does she know that Tyler is trying to protect his relationship with her - the one relationship he hasn't screwed up. Add in a nasty ex and a gorgeous teenage daughter with some awkward moments and you have a very interesting story.
Really, really enjoyable read!!

I was worried about this one going into it. Tyler and Brenna have been a known thing for both previous books and you could kind of see the likely emotional trajectory from a mile away. And the first part of the book did little to alleviate that concern. I admit it was great getting to know Brenna better. She's exactly as lovely and personable as we'd been lead to believe. I hadn't expected her to be quite so very emotionally vulnerable, but that wasn't unreasonable and became an aspect I very much enjoyed seeing her work through.

I don't remember how far it continued with things still predictable but I remember settling in for something of a slog at one point. Both protagonists were better than I expected, but they kept dancing around each other with an endless cycle of "must protect the friendship status quo". I wish I'd paid attention to the turn-around point better, but Morgan snuck it past me and before I knew what hit me, I couldn't put the book down.

Part of that was the interactions with Tyler's daughter, Jessie. She was such a great anchor for both Tyler and Brenna, reminding them both that they were responsible adults without devolving into convenient crisis or excuse to throw them together. I loved how Jess and her struggles highlighted Brenna's strength and growth. But Jess's interactions with her father were so full of honest love, vulnerability, and struggle to help and understand one another that I couldn't help falling for Tyler if only for how he cared for and about Jess.

So this was a lovely way to end the series (if it is, indeed, the end—we've run out of brothers, at any rate). I think this book was my favorite as it had none of the weaknesses of the others and many of their strengths. I wish Morgan had gotten to the sweet spot sooner, but that she got there is undeniable (for me).

A note about Steamy: Lower mid range with two explicit scenes of some length. I particularly liked how well woven into their emotional journey these scenes were, though. Very well done.

The last O’Neill brother is off the market and I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Single dad, best friends to lovers and a beautiful snowy backdrop—what more could you ask for in a festive romance.

5 Words: Love, skiing, family, romance, Christmas.

This was a perfect conclusion to the O'Neil Brothers series.

Snow Crystal sounds so perfect in these books. It's my favourite fictional destination. The descriptions are so vivid that you feel you're there, walking through the forest, gazing at the mountains... It's blissful to read.

I've been wanting to read about Tyler and Brenna since the first book in the series. And despite all of the anticipation, this book didn't disappoint. Sure, it was infuriating at times the way the two of them acted, I just wanted to knock their heads together. But it worked so freaking well and made the ending all the more beautiful.

You don't need to read these books as a series, they're good as standalone books too. But reading them as a series will make your heart just melt. You'll be so full of the warm fuzzies that you'll be gushing and cooing and everything.

I'm going to miss Snow Crystal. I hope Sarah Morgan writes more books set in this wonderful place.

Sarah Morgan has solidly taken her place on the gold podium as my favorite Christmas author. Maybe This Christmas dealt an impressive amount of character growth for a Christmas/romance book. Maybe I'll re-read this one some day.

I'd rate this book an R for sexual scenes, adult content, and some swearing.

First off I must confess that I am not a fan of unrequited love stories, for me it is about a balance of power, one person is all merry going out and having fun while the other is pining. Now, the second thing is that I love friends to lovers stories so that besides the other books made me give Tyler and Brenna a chance.

Tyler is a ski champion or atleast he was until an accident ended his competitive career, now he is giving ski lessons at his family's resort and being a full time father to his almost 14year old daughter Jess. Brenna is also an instructor and Tyler's best friend and unbeknownst to him, she has been in love with him since they were kids but he never noticed that.

Now, I loved Brenna she had a good heart but was on self confidence because of her parents, being bullied as a teenager and also Tyler. I liked how she did try to move on, living in Europe for a while but to me she never fully cut the cord and I wanted her to atleast have had one long fulfilling relationship.

Tyler is concentrating hard on being a parent especially since Jess's mother did such a number on his daughter's esteem. I loved how loving a parent Tyler was and how even as a teenager he tried to fight for his daughter's custody. Now, what I didn't like was how his ex was written and how so easily and suddenly he realised he loved Brenna, I know, I know I wanted some angst when this book was all good, christmas-y and holiday-ish!

I enjoyed all of this series but Tyler and Brenna's story was my favourite. Childhood best friends are they more like brother and sister? Well yes to start with but throughout the story it shows the base for a great relationship is friendship. I love both Tyler and Brenna's relationship with his daughter Jess and the outdoors. Janet Carpenter I didn't guess she was the Bully she wouldn't be so keen to bully when her daughter is being bullied. I loved catching up with all the other characters. Out of the series I liked Tyler and Brenna and stable Jackson the best but they were all so enjoyable to read about. What A perfect ending Brenna Oniel.

Five Caffeinated Reasons to grab a cup of Cocoa and snuggle up with Maybe This Christmas

Brenna Daniels and Tyler O’Neil a friend to lover’s romance that I have been rooting for since book one. I love this troupe and you could not ask for characters that are more delightful. Stubborn, a little wounded, caring to their core and so in love with each other but too fearful to take a chance…yep. I was melting over here.
The Snow Crystal Resort..ooh the setting for this series made me delicious happy from the slopes to Moose encounters. The lodge, family and community give you a well-rounded tale. I so want to book a chalet for the weekend. While I am not interesting in skiing. Hikes, the food and reading by the fire as I look out at all the snow and mountains. *gasp* Who wants to go with me?
Jess is Tyler O’Neil’s thirteen going on thirty daughter. She is quite the character from her matchmaking skills to her own self-esteem issues. Jess’s story tugged at my heartstrings and I rooted for her and her adorable, ornery dogs.
Meddling family members and friends helped make the romance even more interesting. Maybe they should close the resort and open a matchmaking business. I laughed over the subtle and not so subtle plans to throw Brenna and Tyler together. Nothing says love like family and friends meddling.
The romance was heartfelt, and had moments of laughter as well as heat. I giggled so hard it brought me to tears. Morgan allowed the characters to grow, take chances and try and find their happy without too much angst. The heat was rather mild but ooh-la-la it was delicious and toe tingling. The story felt genuine and for fans of Brenna and Tyler, the wait was worth it.

This book is perfect for winter reading.
Except the characters and their story, what I really liked the most was how the whole place was described. The magical winter fairytale, the houses, the mountains. I could imagine the places the whole time throughout the reading.
And to be honest, I wanted to learn to skii for a long time now, but after reading this book I will definitely not postpone it anymore.
Great book. If you are into cozy, wintery stories I totally recommend it! 🥰

5/5⭐

I have wanted to read Tyler and Brenna’s story from the first time I got my hands on this series. What can I say? I love the best-friends-to-lovers theme in my romance. So I came into this book with high expectations. The question was, of course, did the book deliver?

Oh, hell, yeah, it most certainly did!

While there was nothing new on the reason why Tyler and Brenna weren’t yet involved — Tyler felt that he screwed up all his relationship so far, so there was no way that he would cross the line with Brenna; while Brenna felt that, despite her loving Tyler all her life, she knew that Tyler only saw her as ‘one of the guys’ so she didn’t stand a chance, and his friendship meant a lot more to her — Ms. Morgan was able to inject complexities into it. Most especially related to Brenna’s high-school past. This brought up a few twists that I didn’t see coming – including the one with Brenna’s own mother.

Tyler was definitely my favorite brother. He had this sexy bad-boy image, someone who thrived on challenges, who just wanted to ski, fast, fast, fast; he couldn’t care less about managing the ski lodge. Tyler was devastated with his injury, which stopped him from skiing professionally, but he kept his game face on and did what he had to do. I thought that made him an admirable man.

In addition, it was truly heartwarming to see how Tyler dealt with his teenage daughter, Jesse. Tyler tried hard to be the good father. He stumbled along the way, but it was clear that he wanted the best for Jesse. Gah, I loved him so much!!

And Brenna – sweet, kind but very loyal Brenna. Usually, I love my heroines to be feisty and able to push through to get what they want. In that sense, Brenna should be a bit too meek for my liking. But at the same time, Brenna brought out the protective side of me – just like she made Tyler protective of her. I could understand her fear of losing Tyler if she confessed about her feelings – her terrible past in high school definitely didn’t help her confidence. So I loved how other people – namely Kayla and Élise – were championing for her. The way that Brenna slowly gained inner strength to face her fears and to finally tell Tyler what she wanted made me so very proud of her.

The push/pull from both Brenna and Tyler did feel a bit repetitive. It took almost 3/4 of the book before Brenna and Tyler were finally working on what was inevitable between them. I thought it could have been cut a little bit short since this book felt slightly too long because of it. However, I admit that I was also a sucker for such unsolved-tension between friends, and in here, it was pretty delicious. Pure torture and frustration. But delicious.

Then, the final grand gesture from Tyler? Be Still My Heart!! *swoon*. It was SO romantic. It became one of my favorite grand gestures in romance, most definitely. I gave Tyler a perfect 10 for it *clapping hands, standing ovation*. It was worth reading all the USTs between the two to get into that final point.

So it might not be a perfect read, but Ms. Morgan was able to write a very compelling romance using this classic theme. With lovable protagonists, charming secondary characters that have been part of this series from the beginning, along with that marvelous ending, Maybe This Christmas is my favorite from the trilogy. It was fabulous, and I loved every minute of it. In fact, it is definitely one of my favorite contemporary romances of the year.

25 anni d'amicizia. Mica pizza e fichi.

*MULINO BIANCO FAMILY ALLERT*

- "Praporci u snijegu" (Jackson O'Neil) i

Ocjena? 🤔 Četiri ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Skipped Sean's book because honestly I didn't care. Whoops. Plus I wanted to read another Christmas themed romance.

For a good chunk of this book I really wanted more which is a little sad because I was looking forward to this couple since the beginning. I think it was more that I felt super sorry for Brenna. One with the bullying and all the extremely juvenile stuff regarding Janet. Then of course there was the unrequited love (because c'mon Tyler need A LOT of help realizing he loved Brenna too) for years and years. It was sad seeing her pining for so long and holding everything in. I wanted to see her make a real effort with someone else, just because she deserved that. But no, the world revolved around Tyler. He made me a bit frustrated being a typical guy with commitment phobia. Dense, this guy. Everything with him and Jess was fantastic though. I really liked seeing his parenting side. Anyway, the romance. Finally toward the end when things turned up a notch it became a lot more enjoyable. The angst that followed was actually leading somewhere, a make or break decision. Brenna grew that backbone I so wanted to see earlier in the book and Tyler finally got some sense knocked into him and opened his eyes. And the ending, it was so sweet and fitting. I know the brothers are all settled but I hope the author returns to Snow Crystal. Maybe Josh and Dana?

This story made me so sad. I felt so sorry for Brenna. She carried her unrequited love with her for so many years like a sad burden. Her mother's words were supposed to make the mom look bad but I'm sorry but I understood what her mom was saying. She was wasting her life. After Tyler got another girl pregnant she leaves to go to Europe. I wish she had found a good man there and had a happy relationship with him even if it didn't work out. I'd much rather she believe she moved past him and then comes back to find nope than to think she spent so long pining the way she was and that *everyone* knew.

It just made me feel sad. I love friends to lovers but I don't love this kind of inequity and suffering on the part of the heroine.

I didn’t like it. During the whole story I was just thinking why do they not talk to each other. Brenna and Tyler and the mother with her daughter. Of course, then the book wouldn’t exist. But first Brenna was suffering and being quiet her whole life abs then all of a sudden she opens her mouth. Glad I am finally done.
