In 1953, at the pinnacle of his career, beloved motivational speaker Napoleon Hill―whose classic Think and Grow Rich continues to inspire millions―distilled his lifetime work into a series of live radio broadcasts. In each one, Hill walked his listeners through one of the Five Foundations for Success―what he described as absolute musts connected to “practically all achievement that’s worth mentioning.” Napoleon Hill Is on the Air! comprises those never-before-published transcripts in an engaging Q&A format. Together they provide deep analysis of the “Big Five” principles and how to apply them for maximum benefit in business and relationships. The transcripts also offer rich, off-the-cuff insights and inspirational stories derived from Hill’s years spent studying American icons, including Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Charles M. Schwab, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This remarkable book offers a unique perspective on Napoleon Hill’s groundbreaking principles of success―as practical and powerful today as when he first discovered them.
Oliver Napoleon Hill was an American self-help author and conman. He is best known for his book Think and Grow Rich (1937), which is among the best-selling self-help books of all time. Hill's works insisted that fervid expectations are essential to improving one's life. Most of his books were promoted as expounding principles to achieve "success". Hill is a controversial figure. Accused of fraud, modern historians also doubt many of his claims, such as that he met Andrew Carnegie and that he was an attorney.
I won this as a Goodreads Giveaway. I upgraded for the audio version. I was not previously familiar with Napoleon Hill's teachings. His advice is timeless. I have now purchased his book "Think and Grow Rich" and am looking forward to reading it. The style of this book in the format of a radio broadcast allows for straightforward explanation of Mr. Hill's key principles. This was an enjoyable business advice book filled with interesting historical stories and insights. The ideas of committing to a definite singular purpose and going the extra mile in particular resonated with me.
A compilation of Napoleon Hill's teachings of science of success theory, now focusing on the five major principles among his seventeen, in a series of radio talk-show and question and answer format. It's been always a welcome and easier thing to remember the gist of Mr. Hill's calling with the essential of the essentials, and impressed the most when examples were given (Edison, Ford, Wright Brothers) for the five major principles - Definiteness of Purpose, The Mastermind, Applied Faith, Going the Extra Mile, Creative Vision. It helps when you have read the author's classics first like "Think and Grow Rich" and this book would give you fresher outlook, clearer vision and workable ideas about the principles, if you find some of the concepts rather abstract or vague. Mr. Hill always claims the science is a practical philosophy of personal success, a system to transmute burning desires into reality by its application, making life a resourceful one, while at the same time, it is an applied faith in Christianity. This book is an important recording of Mr. Hill's success philosophy, in his own words, which introduces ether and Unlimited Intelligence, and their relationship to men's subconscious mind. Personally, I am a believer in Mr. Hill's system and can vouch for the changes brought by it since I started to read his books and practice his teachings about ten years ago. Highly recommended.
This book is really a fascinating slice of history - and a quick read. About 160 pages, it has a lot of repetition, likely due to the fact that it's based on radio transcripts. You can clearly hear the author's voice -- and I'm sure that repeating himself in subsequent airings was intentional. That man was a talker!
Some of the basic concepts are solid - and can provide a great framework for being positive, productive and developing focus and self-discipline. There are definitely some artifacts of the times he lived in -- but overall, it's a very upbeat read. The personal philosophy doesn't focus on more practical matters -- and leaves out social (racial, class), political and economic factors that contribute to success. To take this philosophy wholesale -- those who don't succeed just didn't really believe deep down in side that they could (ie, poverty as a character flaw). The basic Horatio Alger myth is reflected in Napoleon Hill's childhood and "success" (though he was accused of violating laws and sounds like a really smooth talker).
The "law of attraction" philosophy has formed the foundation of a number of self-help schools in recent years - think rich = you will be rich.
Great sit down of a live broadcast with Napoleon Hill. Real life interview that gives you the prospective of real life questions you ask a successful author
Worth reading even if you haven't read Think and Grow Rich. Hill's teachings are simply the best there are. Wonderful transcript of the radio show he had.
Such great information in here. Napoleon Hill's teachings are a must for all Kaizen junkies. I highly recommend all of his works. The narrator did a good job. There is such valuable information in Napoleon Hill's teachings. If you enjoyed his other works you will want to add this to your collection as well.
Disclaimer: I've been listening at 2x speed for so long anything else sounds like slow motion. My enjoyment of the narrator is based on my listening speed.
An interview with Dr. Napoleon Hill on the 5 Foundations for Success. Lots of famous business & entrepreneurs of that era.
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great movie, college or business PP presentation, or better yet a mini TV series. It was just OK for me, for that time period it was great. That said I will only rate it at 4/5 stars.

This was a very interesting book about what it takes to become successful, rich, and happy. Rich doesn't necessarily mean with money. This book are the radio conversions that Napoleon Hill gave back in the 1960s on the foundations for success. Most of it is common sense and would apply to even now.
