Author Bates Whitaker is a normal teen living a normal life in Chapin, South Carolina. He is follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and is an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church. A voracious reader from an early age, he began writing his own original stories in the third grade. He is an avid outdoorsman with a love for hiking, camping, survival training, hunting, sport shooting, and fly-fishing. He has a passion for history, with particular emphasis on the Civil War and an interest in authentic period activities, especially blacksmithing. He is a Trailman in Trail Life USA and enjoys sharing his interests with his friends and teaching others.
