Delve is both book one in the Delve Duet and book three in the complete Quake Series by Jacob Chance. This book can be read in any of three ways. It is part of the Complete Quake Series Box Set, it’s part of the Delve Duet Box Set and also can be read on it’s own in the single book. This book is Kyle’s partner and best friend, Derek, and Kyle’s little sister, Kenna’s story!
Kyle and Kenna lost their parents at a young age so Kyle raised Kenna since she was fifteen years old. I believe she is around twenty five now and is an emergency room nurse.
Derek Santiago is Kyle’s best friend and partner in K.D. Investigations, a private investigation company. Derek first met Kenna when she was eighteen years old. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. But she was a child, seven years younger than he was. He had no business anywhere near her. Kenna felt it as well. That pull that doesn’t let go. For seven long years these two fought against their connection. For seven years they convinced themselves that they could never happen. Until they finally both decided that for one night, they would finally give in to what they wanted. Only one night will never be enough. At the same time, we have someone evil in the background, lurking, waiting.
I am enjoying this series so much. Technically, you could read this without reading the Quake Duet but you would miss out on knowing Kyle and Janny which would add to the enjoyment of this duet. Now I can’t wait to go on to the rest of Derek and Kenna’s story in Tied.

A new author (at least for me) I'll try his two first books and see how it goes. Fingers crossed.
August 20th 17. Update: I decided not finishing this book at 47%. First because the story goes round and round and round. Zero development. Almost Zero interaction between mcs. Pages spent in weird flashbacks in both povs of them remembering some hot (if those can be called hot) encounters together where wether they kissed or he was mauling her. Pages are also spent on the hero being doing his job as a PI. So we get to read a lot of him watching someone. Then more pages wasted in a ridiculous stalker pov. Probably to give it a feel of a thriller or suspense. I felt nothing but annoyance on top of being annoyed by the lack of a relationship between mcs. Keeping in mind this book ends @67% and it has 11 chapters. And I stopped in chapter 7 at 47%. I'm wondering how the author will play this relationship and the stalker plot in 4 chapters but I am not a bit interested to find out.
And 2nd but not least I have to correct my "progress update": This isn't my 1st book by this author. QUAKE was. And no surprise here I didn't finish it either. It means I didn't like the writing style before. It seems this book has the same uninteresting and boring style. So I will cut my losses here and quit.

Gahhhh!!! Jacob Chance is becoming one of my favorite authors. I read Quake first and I have been hooked with Quiver and now Delve. This was such a delicious story of forbidden romance. Derek has been crushing on Kenna since he first laid eyes on her but she was only 18 years old. Derek was Kenna’s brothers best friend which made her completely off limits. Derek is also 7 years her senior and has been around the block a few times – he thinks she deserves someone better. He can’t stop him from having dirty thoughts about Kenna while he is busy with um … other women. Kenna is a good girl, young and innocent. She also has been fantasizing about her brother’s best friend since she met his gaze across the pool, but she thinks he only thinks of her as his best friend’s little sister – or is he? Now, Kenna is all grown up, beautiful and sexy as ever. How long can they keep their secret attraction for one another? Will Derek finally break the ultimate best friends code and at what cost?
This book is serious hot. I think the author did a great job with the two main characters portraying pretty scorching hot chemistry, the angst and the flirty banters. These two have so many NOT so innocent runs-in throughout the years in secrecy and finally they explode with well… amazing climaxes The plot was pretty attractive as well. Delve was a PI who has been keeping an eye on someone who was supposed to be a druggie but actually is a whole lot more dangerous. Derek is all alpha and tough but as the story goes on I can see the softer, sweeter side of him, especially the way he takes care of Kenna. Similar to the last two books, there were snippets of a creepy character lurking around the corner which added an element of suspense to the story. I thought there might be a little more there, but I can see that it was a perfect set up for the next book. Delve has a perfect combination of thrilling action, mystery, passion, and romance. For me, it was an entertaining, sexy, funny, short and sweet read. Forbidden/Erotic.

Delve is my first novel by Jacob Chance. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was equally impressed. From my reading experience, I haven't read many male authors who could pull off romance and erotica that doesn't read like porn. Jacob Chance did a great job!
This book's premise is one we have seen many times. Heroine's older brother is best friends with hero. I have to say that this novel didn't bore me. The author wrote in a way in which I didn't roll my eyes once. The heroine, Kenna, was sassy and bratty at first. However, once I got to read her POV, I understood her character better. Kenna was awesome. She was emotionally strong for what she dealt with. Kenna was also smart, caring and beautiful. A perfect match for our hero, Derick.
Derick was a stereotypical, sexy, arrogant alpha. However he was so sweet when it came to Kenna. Except when he was being a jerk. Hey, all heroes can't be perfect. What fun would that be? ;) Anyway, once I had a better understanding of what kind of person he was on the inside, I fell in love with him. Derick has been in love with Kenna from the first moment he met her when she was eighteen years old. Unfortunately, he was not only several years older but he was her brother's best friend. Right there says 'off limits.'
The chemistry and sexual tension between these two was believable and palpable. Explosive to say the least. And once they finally gave into their attraction.....seriously?.....my Kindle nearly melted. Hot damn! Kenna and Derick had a few obstacles to overcome. Circumstances were not easy for these two. Also, there is a suspense aspect hanging around in the background that kept me on my toes just waiting for trouble. I'll tell you that aspect wasn't resolved and I believe it is continuing through to the next book, Delude.
There is some mild violence. And as I mentioned earlier there is suspense in which I inferred was carried over from Quake and Quiver. I haven't YET read those books but I will, soon. Those books are parts one and two of Kyle and Janny's story who also make appearances in Delve. (Kyle is Kenna's brother) I need to catch up with this series because Delude is releasing soon!
Something else I'd like to add is that there is a short novella, Tied, that brings us to Vegas for the wedding weekend of Kenna and Derick. I am going to read that soon as well. That novella is available now.
Ok, I have one more last thing to add. It's actually more of a fun fact that the author will appreciate more than anyone. I was so lost in this novel, I chose read and finish it instead of watching the Super Bowl. So I hope that confirms how much I enjoyed reading Delve.

I was privileged to have beta read Delve by Jacob Chance. This book blew me away, Jacob's writing improves with each book he writes. He outdid himself with this one not only with the writing, but the sex scenes were off the charts explosive. It's definitely going to cause your panties to melt, a little advice don't wear them while reading it.
Derek and Kenna are complete opposites sometimes opposites do attract. Delve is sexy, steamy, a bit of mystery that will have you not wanting to stop reading it till the very last page. A definite must read you'll fall in love with Derek and Kenna.

I was so giddy when I found out Derek & Kenna were getting their own book. Their forbidden romance was sexy, thrilling.
Kenna is the younger sister of Kyle, Derek's best friend. She's off limits.
"She's only eighteen, I remind myself."
It didn't help that she was equally attracted to Derek.
"She unabashedly looks me over from head to toe."
What really didn't help was that Derek was cocky and confident. Dominating. He loved to push Kenna's boundaries. He knew she wanted him, as much as he wanted her. But Kenna was just as sassy and full of confidence as Derek.
Ah, these two! I was intrigued by them. Their desire for one another. How they tried to fight it. I loved the flashbacks. The sexy, private moments, when they gave into temptation.
Definitely a hot must read. I can't wait for Lana's story.

Ok so … Tracy posted on the blog who was your favorite male author – and I couldn’t answer that. Why? Because I couldn’t remember a male author I had read. So what did I do .. I scrolled through her blog/page until I found a post for a MAN .. and holy moly good lordt … I found one!
I don’t know who Jacob Chance is but I wanna know. Actually I sort of do because after this I stalked his pages. HAHAHAHA! He should be my best friend .. for real. Martial artist – football fan – joker and junk food lover – (I love twizzlers dipped in protein powder -- ) … and author of smexy books … yup – did we just become best friends!?!?!?! --- Ladies .. Meet Derrick ...
Derrick is a bad boy. Tattoos .. muscles … walking “brown chicken brown cow” on a stick. He is also one of those men that you want to write in the middle of the heart that you send him “I love you asshole.” … that is if you get more than one night from him and certainly no woman in her right mind is going to say no. Put charm on top with a cherry on it and you have Derrick – Kenna’s brother’s best friend.
Kenna wears her sassy pants well and is independent, driven and absolutely stunning. Kyle would kill her if she acted on her thoughts every time Derrick walked in the room. She hates him but she wants him. Little does she know that Derrick wants to wrap her all around him even though Kyle has told him he will rip him into pieces if he touches her. Kenna in her brothers mind is too good for any man.
Holy smokes --- this is so so good ladies. You want to read a man who can write and write exceptional characters secondary and lead – all consuming story lines – eye brow raising moments then this is YOUR GUY --- The best thing it’s a standalone .. no cliffy’s per say but things that will keep you reading the “series” for lack of a better word.
The next next best thing – I learned (by stalking) that there are books prior to Derrick to pick up. Yes! I intend on running over and grabbing up Quake and then also Quiver. The characters are intertwined. Next up … Lana and Zack ---

Jacob Chance.... your dark side is very appealing! With each book you seem to be getting more in touch with it and I for one, LOVE IT! Delve seems to hold so much more mystery and intrigue than the previous 2 books and it continues to increase, but I'll come back to that in a bit.
We were introduced to Derek Santiago (Kyle's best friend) and Kenna Mackenzie (Kyle's younger sister) in the previous books and now, finally these two get to share their story. Their story has a little bit of forbidden to it, as it's usually against bro code to chase your best friend's much younger sister. But the heart wants what the heart wants, despite Derek's monumental efforts to deny his attraction to Kenna. I fell in love with Derek. He is smug, sarcastic and all kinds of dominant; just the right combination to get the lady parts tingling. I'm not sure how Kenna didn't fall victim to his ways before now?!
Kenna is just the girl for Derek. I love how feisty she is, God knows she needs to be with him. She's also a very independent woman which makes her perfect in my books. Kenna, of course, has her vulnerabilities. Derek knows about her family history, so there is no need to hide it or to talk about it at great length, he already knows and he understands it and is sensitive to it.
I love the angst between these two. Derek is all about baiting and teasing her. Her reaction to him is quite amusing and she gives as good as she gets!
Now for the suspenseful and thrilling side of this story...WTF?! "Soon there will be no secrets between us." What are the secrets and when will they be revealed... I can't stand it!! I need to know!!! I'm once again left teetering on the edge of insanity with the need to know the answers to these questions.
The point of view of the stalker was so masterfully weaved throughout the story and really had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation of when, where and how he was going to strike next.
I've said it before and I'll say it again! I believe Jacob Chance has really found his home in writing erotic thrillers and I can't wait for more. Bring on the darkness Jacob... I'm ready!!

I just recently was recommended to read Jacob's books. Wow, I read the 1st two books and I was wow, left me breathless.

Jacob Chance where did you come from? You have quickly become a favorite author for me. 3 books down and all 5 stars for me.
This is Derek and Kenna's book and dear lord can we talk about Derek for a minute please. Good god he is hot and dirty, just the way I like them. He and Kenna have known each other for many years and he is Kenna's brother Kyle's best friend and he is quite a bit older than Kenna. In fact they first meet when Kenna is only 18 and it is lust at first sight but these two are a no go because hey man you don't fool around with your best friends sister right? Well at least not till she's older and you can not not fool around with her.
There was an awesome build up with these two and when they collided it was pure combustion.
So one of the things that really makes Jacob an author I will continue to read is he not only writes good, and he writes hot, but he also seems to throw in a bit of suspense into his books which I really love. That said I am not gonna lie, I really thought the underlying suspense was going to go a completely different way than it did. I will be really curious to see what happens in his next book Tied. Should be interesting.

Jacob, your writing is so amazing. In fact, I think I have fallen in love with you because of it. You always use the perfect amount of everything to entice us to keep reading. There's funny parts, serious parts, sexy parts, we really get a well-rounded book. I can't seem to get enough of this series!
We didn't see a whole lot of Derrick other than knowing how loyal of a friend he was, and we got to see a lot more of Kenna in the last book. I was so excited to see a best friend/little sister romance! I LOVE these kind! It's a great turn for Jacob to introduce another kind of romance. Derrick is so yummy, he's the perfect bad boy. And Kenna, she's the hot independent woman. Who doesn't love a great independent heroine?? I Sure do!!! They were such a great pair.
I loved the twists too, there were so many things that kept us thinking. Lots of drama mixed in with the sexy to really even things out. CANNOT wait for more!!!

Loved reading the story of Derek and Kenna and the flashbacks to when they first met to when things started to develop to the present day. Gah Derek is just so damn naughty and hot, who wouldn't love him and I love the whole personality of Kenna and what a string woman she is. These two together are just WOW! The story had that twist that I always love finding cause you're not expecting it and keeps you on your toes. Loved loved loved. This is my voluntary review and unbiased opinion.

Dear lord this was HOT!!! Super sexy from the get-go! I was immediately sucked into this story and couldn't get enough! The suspense was amazing and the sex was steamy! He has produced a story that skillfully weaves sexual tension, suspense and humour, without ever losing the emotional connection that drives the relationship between the two leads.
Kenna is a spirited, passionate woman who has her life together. She has a job she loves, a close relationship with her brother and fulfilling friendships. But she has also experienced alot of pain in her life and demonstrates a vulnerability that is very relatable.
Derek, while outwardly strong & stoic, has a huge heart and the intensity with which he loves Kenna, is what most women dream of. His past includes things that he is not proud of, and he struggles to see his worth or what he could offer to Kenna.
The push and pull between the two is compelling, and at times had me pulling my hair and yelling at my kindle! I so badly wanted Derek to see the value he could bring to Kenna's life. At the same time I wanted Kenna to open her eyes and realise the depth of Derek's feelings for her. All of these things ensured that I was unable to put this book down once I started. I read it in one sitting, and enjoyed every second of it!
Once again Jacob Chance has demonstrated a real talent for writing that blends romance, suspense & erotica with an enviable ease. He exhibits a natural talent for engaging readers and creating characters that we really care about. I look forward to his future releases.

This up and coming author is proving himself once again with his 3rd book, DELVE. We meet the two main characters in his duet QUAKE and QUIVER. Kenna is the younger sister to Kyle and Kyle is Derek's best friend and business partner. This book can be read as a stand alone, although it was great to see Kyle and Janny again.
I continue to be amazed by this author. Romantic suspense gives me the creeps most of the time. But Jacob Chance weaves it in so seamlessly, you don't know it's there until it smacks you in the face! Things are not resolved so I have a feeling the author has more stories to pen.

This review of Delve by Jacob Chance is for The Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog. Jacob Chance has another hit on his hands. I couldn't wait to read Delve. This book is an interconnected standalone in the Quake and Quiver series. So you need not have read the first two. Delve is the story of Kenna, Kyle's little sister and Derek, Kyle's best friend. Jenna and Derek have been skating around their feelings for a while now. What will happen if the finally give in? Sexual tension at its finest! Be sure to pick up your copy to find out. It will be well worth it. I have read a loved all three books so far. Delve is a quick 5 Star read.

WOW! I have to say that I have just recently started reading the Chance brothers and I have to say that I do enjoy them. Delve, Well what can I say. It was a really good book. I loved reading about Derek & Kenna. Kenna is an off the chart woman and Derek is so hard to not like. I am so looking forward to reading the next book!

Move over Kyle and make way for Derek! I absolutely loved how cocky he was, and Kenna was always quick with a response. I loved the banter between them. It also had the right amount of suspense that kept me guessing right up to the end of the book. I can't wait for Jacobs next release!

Delve is the forbidden romance about Kenna McKenzie and Derek Santiago. We got a glimpse of these two characters in Quake and Quiver and now we are treated to more of them. He’s seven years older and has been sworn off by her brother Kyle, who would literally bends over backwards for his little sister. It just happens that Kyle and Derek are best friends and partners in a private investigation company which doesn't help matters, either. She was only an innocent eighteen-year-old girl when she met Derek; however, there’s a darkness about him that concerned me in the respect that this trait of his could be exposed to her. Although it’s clear they had to stay away from each other, there’s no doubt the magnetism they have palpitates.
"Is it a one night stand if he's your brother's best friend and he's starred in every sexual fantasy you've ever had?"
Kenna’s now a career girl who has a very strong-willed personality but at the same time, there's vulnerability about her. Regardless of her loving relationship with her brother who would protect her no matter what, she’s still wary of her feelings for Derek and for a very good reason. Why, you may ask? Ah, all is to be revealed in the story!
Derek is a tattooed alpha male and although his feeling for Kenna run deep, I truly understood his doubts. Not being able to envisage one’s worthiness must be horrendous and as I read on, I discovered parts of him that he wasn't proud of. His persona touched me; drew me in and for the life of me, I couldn’t shake him off.
To say I was frustrated at times would be putting it lightly. All I asked for was for them to just stop playing cat and mouse with their feelings. Then in one scenario my opinion changed one-hundred and eighty degrees! Of course, taking into regard this comment adds up to a whole lot of steaminess. My word, in this offering the dirty devil, Derek, almost made me blush, flush and get my knickers in a twist! Suspense abounds and without giving anything away, I was waiting for the moment to happen only to be given another twist in the tale. Cleverly written, I thought I'd sussed out the route the story was taking me. SHOCKER, it wasn’t!
Mr Chance doesn't disappoint. If you are into reading suspenseful sexy reads with a twist and a half, this book’s for you. It is a standalone but there might be parts of it a tinsy-winsy unclear unless you’ve read the previous books. Saying that, I’d most definitely recommend future readers taking the CHANCE because I truly think it won't hinder the flow. When a story involves side characters so well-developed, sucks you in and you easily connect to the protagonists at the drop of hat, in my book, it’s totally one-clickable. I thoroughly enjoyed Delve. It had me anticipating the outcome in a storyline that had me invested from the beginning to the end. This author tells his stories from a dual point of view and that's always a firm favourite of mine. Why? Delve … what can I say? This book is by far my favorite from Jacob Chance. Honestly there are not enough words I can use to describe how awesome this book was. It’s hot, addictive, and I was unable to stop reading once I started. I mean, it’s a forbidden romance! I love a good forbidden read, and Delve has definitely made my top favorite list of books I’ve read. I really can’t praise this book high enough. Derek and Kenna are just the perfect couple, and I could literally feel the chemistry between them simmering off my kindle. I really liked Kenna and how independent she is and how she’s made a great life for herself. Derek, oh boy, he’s an alpha male for sure. He says the right things at the right time, and there’s no way you can’t fall head over heels in “lust” with him. While there’s some anticipation, there’s also some suspense. Oh and there’s a pretty big twist, in my opinion, and now I’m just waiting to see what Jacob will come up with next. I have a feeling his next book is going to blow me away, and I would highly recommend checking this author out. He hasn’t let me down and I have a feeling it’s only going to get better with each book.

I started Delve last night and was instantly hooked! I literally had it finished within a few hours because I could not put it down!
The moment Derek Santiago's eyes fall on Kenna McKenzie he can't help but be smitten. He falls for her instantly. However, he soon discovers the gorgeous girl he wants so desperately, is in fact his best friend's younger sister. She's the forbidden fruit. So, to keep his friendship intact, he reluctantly pushes her away.
Kenna also feels the same pull to her older brother's best friend, but hurtful words thrown at her by the very person she's falling for breaks her heart, but also fuels her anger toward him.
If you love a forbidden romance, this is the book for you! Is it insta-love? Hell yeah, it is! But they don't get together immediately. In fact it takes seven years, of awkward meetings, angry interactions, and some crazy hot sexual tension, before they finally give into their attraction for each other.

I am not exactly sure where to begin with his review because I refuse to spoil the book for anyone! So… let's start with the good points: I really enjoyed the book! While it’s listed as a stand alone and I see where one could read it and keep up, I strongly suggest reading Quake and Quiver first to get the full enjoyment out of this storyline as well as having a better insight into all the characters. Another great thing is who doesn’t want to root for a bad boy who truly deserves a break, they don’t always get it and may have to be content from afar, but it’s still pretty hot - at least the way this author tells a story it is. Yep, Hot Hot Hot!
Now my downside, if you want to call it a bad thing that is: while this book answered a few of the questions I had from Quake and Quiver, it has left me with a few new questions - like who doesn’t wonder where a piece of Pizza disappears to when you live alone (hee hee)? But I have faith my “Other” Questions will be answered soon!
I truly enjoyed Delve and look forward to the next book and I highly recommend the series to anyone who enjoys a hot, suspenseful, romantic storyline!
Now my downside, if you want to call it a bad thing that is: while this book answered a few of the questions I had from Quake and Quiver, it has left me with a few new questions - like who doesn’t wonder where a piece of Pizza disappears to when you live alone (hee hee)? But I have faith my “Other” Questions will be answered soon!
I truly enjoyed Delve and look forward to the next book and I highly recommend the series to anyone who enjoys a hot, suspenseful, romantic storyline!

WOW! What can I say about this book. As much as I loved Quake and Quiver, Delve is definitely my favourite, who wouldn’t love a dirty talking biker Private investigator, I sure did!
Jacob Chance pushes his boundaries just a little further with this book and god I loved it! This is a little darker than the last two but so worth it.
We met Derek Santiago and Kenna Mackenzie briefly in Quake and Quiver and I was so happy when I knew they were getting a book. Derek is that little more dominant and Kenna is a little more feisty, stubborn and determined and I love a strong female lead, and I also love a bit of forbidden and what’s more forbidden than your brothers best friend. <3
This whole series is a must read. Jacob Chance is getting better with every book he writes. This is a one sitting book because once you start you’re not going to want to put it down and if you don’t get hot for Derek then you’re dead that’s all I have to say.

This is the first book of Jacob's I've read and let me tell you I'm hooked. His writing is phenomenal. Delve is a continuation of the Quake, Quiver series. Delve opens the series to Derek, Kyle's partner and Kenna. Kyle's younger sister. Derek has feelings for her from the first time he meets her when she's 18. Keeps them under wraps. Bring it to present day and Kenna is no longer 18 years old, she is a full time nurse in the ER, has her own apartment and is Kyle's best friend. When Kenna and Derek are around eachother they are snappy towards one another but what is hidden behind that is what Jacob tells in this story oh so well. There is hot romance, suspense, the unravelling of feelings, the undeniable question of friendship...Will Derek cross that line with his best friend, business partner Kyle? to take a chance at the one woman who makes him happy or so he thinks would make him happy? You have to read this book its so awesome and everything is answered in accordance of the book. Well done Jacob look forward to the next book to follow

I absolutely loved Delve. Jacob's writing gets better and better with each book he writes.
This book made me swoon.
It made my heart race.
Derek is a sweetheart and hot as hell. There were moments where you'll want to hug him and others where his alpha persona will make you groan and squirm. He's a man who knows what he wants.. And he want's Kenna, bad.
