“Silent Hill has more than once canvas, painted by the taint of your sins. Consider this your personal hell.”
Trevor wakes up from another nightmare of Silent Hill just before getting a call that the police are after him following the apparent suicide of his wife, Caroline. He barely escapes with his lover Kathy and best friend Jay Nixon, the police force hot on their tail on the dark highway. During the pursuit, a mist covers the road and a strange man with a metallic object on his head causes them to crash on the outskirts of Silent Hill.
When Trevor awakens, he finds himself alone at the scene of the accident with no knowledge of where the others are. His search for them not only reveals that the town is haunted with terrifying creatures, but is also tainted with clues of Caroline’s presence. As his struggle through the misty town leads him closer to Kathy’s whereabouts, Trevor learns the truth of Caroline’s death. And with this knowledge, he discovers that everyone that had a part to play in her misery has been brought together to Silent Hill to account for their sins.
In the midst of the pain and the blood stands Caroline’s mysterious guardian with the metallic stained pyramid on his head… and he is ready to exact justice for their betrayal…

This was the hardest read ever. The story is great and takes you on detailed journey through Silent Hill, solving puzzles and defeating monsters, but you need to be a real fan to put up with the spelling mistakes, the grammatical errors, the sheer lack of editing. It's tough going, but I'm glad I persevered.
Full disclosure, I read this in June and July of 2025. Since then, this novel has been re-branded as Sacred Valley: Betrayal. With that, some of the old "Silent Hill" specific things are gone. Now set in Sacred Valley, you can still tell where the old Silent Hill moments were. The books definitely resonate more for those who are gamers, there are game elements still present in the novel. The author took time to go through and make the creatures his own while still feeling very at home in the Silent Hill style.
You also get a surprise in the back of the book, but I won't say anymore than that.
I hate this book with my whole heart IT TOOK ME SINCE APRIL TO COMPLETE…I am giving it two stars only because this feels nostalgic to me now, that’s how long it took. This whole plot was good but my well executed..I’m sorry but this is just yapping for like 500 pages, STRAIGHT YAPPING. The way it ended also, very disappointing I feel like the author could’ve made this a whole lot better if they just took the time and maybe had someone read it before it was published. Will I read this ever again, maybe. That’s only because I read this for like 4 months and it brings me nostalgia hating on it. JUST RE WRITE IT..and maybe bring some humor into it because I can’t take another thing Trevor does..it’s always he kills something or he remembers all this lore. I did like the whole doctor murder scene that was gorgeous and well executed..so 10/10 for that chapter.
