Ford Slater, six-time national BBQ cook-off champ and Montana cattle rancher, might be the perfect blend of down-home sex appeal "Good Grub" needs to become the next nationally syndicated cooking show. But not if TV producer Ember Jones-Roseman fails to get the laid-back cowboy across the country to Atlanta in time to audition. Ford has a fondness for back roads and the slow lane that might run Ember's career straight into the ditch, although his lazy smile and whiskey-smooth voice are enough to tempt her to take a detour off her fast-track to success.

Ford promises Ember they can hit the highway, but only if she agrees to spend one night in Nowhereville U.S.A. Will the small-town magic of Sapphire Falls be enough for an easygoing, sweet-talking cowboy to convince an OCD, Type-A overachiever that life is meant to be savored, not conquered?

Four daughters are whipped from their traditional
home in the middle of the night by their parents.
They end up in a commune across country then
their father disappears. Now grown they are
quite naive and sheltered.
The oldest daughter, Ember Jones-Roseman
runs from the commune.
She goes to college then becomes a successful
TV producer.
It is this uptight TV producer who flies out to a
ranch in Montana with a goal of flying a cowboy
to Atlanta to try out for a cooking show, she
is in for a huge lesson in living life to the fullest.
She will begin to realize the importance of family
especially after coming from a dysfunctional
childhood.
Since the cowboy refuses to fly and insists on
driving cross country. During this trip, life takes
on the beauty of nature plus little notions not found
in a harassing work environment.
The characters are very realistic, well developed
plus very interesting and entertaining.
Life, love, and happiness need to be found while
riding cross country. Will this occur?

When you have a short story, you have to get tons on the pages, before you get to The End.
Somehow, Ms Connor managed to do it successfully in not only giving us a story, but also making us think more of her underlying message.
It’s a story about Ember, an Atlanta TV producer who has gone to Montana to make sure Ford, a Montana rancher, shows up for a bbq show audition. Seemingly polar opposites, Ember high strung and Ford , laid back, he tells her he will go so long as they drive.
But as the story develops, it’s more than the plot. Paraphrasing Ford, it’s about living in the moment and balancing priorities. Sometimes when life throws us a tragedy, it might wake us up to “really stop and smell the roses”. It’s a story about the wonders of love, courage, honesty and family.

I was gifted this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Take a tough alpha TV producer & put her in proximity of a sexy strong cattle rancher & you get a recipe for love. Ford is supposed to be in Atlanta for a screen test for a new BBQ show. Ember is the tv producer whose next job advancement depends on Ford showing up. Ford decides Ember needs to relax so he tells her he'll go but only if they drive there. The chemistry is strong & sparks are flying. What will the end of the trip bring?

This novella is a setup for the start of Ms. Connor's new The Natural Love Series. It sets the scene by telling the reader about the turmoil in Ember's family. Ford & Ember are fun characters & a joy to watch discover each other. I love small town settings & road trips & really enjoyed reading this one!

Can two people who just met fall in love within two days? That’s exactly what happens between Ford and Ember in Going Strong. Two people from opposite sides of the country meet, take a road trip, stop in Sapphire Falls and fall in love. Of course, Sapphire Falls is known for making couples fall in love fast and hard, so I wouldn’t expect anything less. An extremely quick, light read that left me feeling hopeful for the couple’s future. I would have liked to see them take a little bit slower approach to their new romance, but, when you know….you know! Right?
Happy reading!

Very Quick read

Wow! I've always known the magic of Sapphire Falls and falling in love there. I have to admit that Ford & Ember really were on the fast track to love. Super quick read for when you only have roughly an hour to spare.
