Ten bestselling authors present ten Regency romances — some traditionally sweet, some clean, some mildly sensuous — in a boxed set you won’t want to miss!
The Toymaker: Lady Ivy Plumthorne is a worry to her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Wythorpe. Desiring only that she be as happily wed as her younger sister, they've spent the past year parading prospective suitors in front of her. But she finds none of the suitors… suitable. With Christmas approaching, they find one more suitor, the Duke of Greenbriar. But Ivy's already met the man of her dreams… and he's a toymaker.
Forgotten Friend: Coralyn Fairchild wants to return to her aunt and uncle’s quiet country estate in Roselund Heights, near the seashore, where she laughed and played with her friend Christopher as a child. But when Coralyn finally is allowed to return for a Christmas holiday, can she reconnect with Christopher, or will her mother’s rules get in the way — again?
The Case of the Missing Cross: Justin Blakemoor and Magnolia Quinn have been friends for years. When Lady Sybil finds her husband’s precious golden cross missing, she is happy to accept their help. The thief is slippery, but is he too evasive for the pair? Magnolia has a few tricks up her sleeve that might even surprise Justin.
No Job for a Woman: Julian Fanshaw answers a call for help from his lifelong friend Lord Worth to help keep his friend’s widowed sister, Deborah, safe from her increasingly vindictive neighbours. It doesn’t take him or Freddie long to realise the Grangers aren’t using her as a long-promised act of revenge against them, but are playing a deeper and far more sinister game of their own.
The Duke of Christmas Past: The only thing Donovan Ellis, seventh Duke of Gatewood, wants for Christmas is for it to be over. Too much sadness surrounds the holiday. But when a ghostly apparition visits him, claiming things can be set right, can Donovan believe? Can he trust the Duke of Christmas Past? Or will meddling in the past bring more heartache than he already has to bear?

The Toymaker, a heartwarming holiday story about an unconventional heroine who falls for a humble toymaker.
The Forgotten Friend: And Other Stories, a forgettable story about a young lady who tries to defy her parents' strict rules and return to the scene of her happiest childhood memories and the hero of her childhood dreams.
The Case of the Missing Cross, a really poor attempt at a Regency mystery. The hero and heroine try to solve a mystery while dancing around their feelings and breaking a lot of etiquette rules.
No Job For A Woman, a well-written Regency suspense story featuring a bold and unconventional woman, a marriage-wary war hero and a really horrific villain.
The Duke of Christmas Past, a short story featuring an alpha hero, his headstrong little sister and a sweet and good heroine. This one is on the warm side of sensual.
Ice Angel, a well-written story about a young widow determined to raise her son and avoid gossip. The rakish hero is more than he seems and manages to worm his way into the heroine's life. There's adventure and romance enough to please Regency fans. Bonus points for the author's note in the back, in case anyone isn't aware of the underside of Regency life (or anyone who hasn't read a Dickens novel).
Three French Inns Despite the cheesy title this is a sweet story about a half-French, half-English hero determined to claim his inheritance. He meets with misfortune and a beautiful, angelic heroine who nurses him afterwards. Though the writing sounds modern and some of the story is too coincidental, I enjoyed it.
Scandal on Half Moon Street An unconventional story about a rake trying to seduce a lady who loves another. It's sweet and enjoyable if you stick with it. Don't quit because of the rake.
Yuletide Hope by Nicole Zoltack, a simple happy holiday tale. Julienne Dupont, alias Jane has finally secured a spot as a ladies' maid in a grand house-with a forged reference. She's determined to to make her way up in the world and run from the demons in the past. She'll do it without a man's help. Liam Stanley, butler, is curious about the new maid. He's still grieving the loss of his wife, the love of his life, five years earlier. If he was interested in a new wife, he might be interested in Julienne, but the girl shies from him like a scared colt. What makes her that way? He's determined to find out and win her friendship, if not her love.
Hmmm.... I think this story is highly improbable. I don't believe servants were allowed to marry and butlers were more starchy than their masters. However, there's nothing that pinpoints the story to the Regency period. It could be Victorian or Edwardian when the rules were a little more relaxed. It's sweet and simple. Liam is very kind and likeable. Jane/Julienne has had a rough life so far and I felt really bad for her. I would probably feel the same way about men as she did.
This collection was free from Amazon. I discovered some authors who are new to me and one or two I might follow up on and read some of their other work if I can get it.
If you are looking for a sweet boxed set of Regency Christmas romances, Nine Ladies Dancing is a fun read. Some of the standout stories were The Toymaker by Kay Springsteen, The Duke of Christmas Past by Kim Bowman, and Romancing the Dustman's Daughter by Ruth J. Hartman, but all ten stories are very enjoyable, especially for fans of the genre.
I enjoyed reading Four Calling Bards. This story kept my interest and the characters were likeable, and the ones that werent were real and believable. A light, gentle approach to heavy subjects of slavery and the workhouses, and it inspires the reader to speak up and make a difference.
I haven’t read them all yet but what I have read I really loved. There was humor and romance but everything I read was sweet and wholesome. The first book in the collection was absolutely adorable (by Miranda Nelson). Can’t wait to finish the rest of the stories.
Very nice stories , very clean...no sex but enjoyed them very much. Only one complaint, one story was the 1st in series so was disappointed that it didnt come to an end. Anyone who wants good light reads would like this set. Excellent Amazon price as always....
I have to base my review on the start of the first book. I found myself skipping pages to find something interesting, every minute action of the characters is detailed. One thing happening clumsily leads to a character taking an action. I rarely give up on books, preferring to give them a chance, but this didn't grip me in the slightest. I've never even heard of the "bestselling" authors, at least the ones listed here. I actually returned the book for a refund - maybe prematurely - but I assumed the editor would put the best book first and I did not like it at all.
