Collars and Cuffs #8

Endings and Beginnings

Rate this book
Listening Length: 12 hours and 34 minutes

In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.

Collars & Cuffs’ new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.

Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.

This was such an emotionally hard book to finish, but it wasn't because of any struggles the MCs had to go through. The reason is that it is impossible to let go of a family you feel a part of in such types of series. I read the book with a heavy feeling at the bottom of my gut and in my heart, a pestering voice constantly reminding me that this is the last book of the series.

I really enjoyed Darren and JJ. The start of the book was especially entertaining. The portrayals of Darren's and JJ's characters and the descriptions of their personal and relationship growths were all perfectly written. The only issue I had was that at slightly past halfway point, there were too many sex scenes in a row.

The multiple POVs we got were such a tribute to the wonderful cast of Collars & Cuffs series, the members of the club. I just wish there had been a cameo role of Jonathan and Dillon, too. They had intrigued me in the initial books, and I missed them here. Also, there wasn't a clarification that the receptionist, Elliot, is the same one we meet in book 1 when he is sitting with Matt and Leo compliments him.

The ending was really gut-wrenching. I have no idea how I was able to finish the book without breaking down, and I cannot adequately express what I am feeling while I write this review.

There is just one thing that I want to say: even though I had expected this and yet had been disappointed a couple times on the way, I am going to terribly miss this series and the wonderful family that had kept on adding new lovely people until this last episode. Some of the characters just burrowed and dug a place for themselves deep in my heart, I have no idea how I will move on from them.

A great series, almost perfectly well written (there were only a couple of punctuation mistakes or typographical errors), one I will cherish and remember for a long time to come.

I am especially going to miss the subs. They were just so solid and strong a unit, they took my breath away sometimes with their hard decisions in times of peril.

It is a bittersweet good-bye, yes, but I hope to revisit the club sometime in the near future.

I have been a fan of this series from day 1. I love the world K.C. Wells and Parker Williams created in Collars and Cuffs, which is set at a BDSM club of the same name in Manchester.

It all started in An Unlocked Heart with Leo, the Dom who lost his beloved sub in a car accident, and Alex, the shy, nervous server working at an Italian restaurant. Leo's partner, Thomas, found love again in Trusting Thomas with Peter, the fearful submissive who blossomed under Thomas' firm but loving care.

Every book revolves around the club, and the stories build on each other. One of the central plot points in the series is the abuse Peter and Jeff (from book 5, Damian's Discipline) suffered at the hands of a disgusting psychopath named Curtis, who was eventually arrested and tried.

In Endings and Beginnings, that plot point comes full circle. This book should not be read as a standalone. While the book focuses on two new MCs, Darren and JJ, it is told from multiple POVs, including those of Leo, Thomas, Alex, Peter, Jarod, Ben, JJ, and Darren.

Alex considers a new career. Ben and Scott are getting married (with a surprise on the way). Peter and Jeff receive shocking news. Jarod and Eli have a big decision to make.

These men are more than friends; they are family. The camaraderie they share is wrapped up in losses and love, in joy and sorrow.

I absolutely loved Darren, a sweet man who owns a hair salon and yearns for something beyond vanilla sex. He's smitten with JJ, the new bartender at Collars and Cuffs, from day 1, but JJ holds on to a lot of anger and resentment. At 24, JJ is still a scared little boy with major trust issues.

I was slow in warming up to JJ. He's quite selfish, and it takes him a while to realize how his actions have hurt other people, especially his mum who has always done her very best. He can't abide being deceived, but he lies to others. When things get tough, JJ runs.

JJ and Darren do not have a traditional Dom/sub relationship. They like rougher sex, and JJ loves being held and bound. Darren begins to train with Thomas, while JJ learns how to give up control.

While the steamy scenes between the other couples fade to black, the ones between JJ and Darren are on page and RED-HOT.

There's rope play and dirty talk and a nipple fetish. K.C. always writes good sex, but I really think she and Parker outdid themselves here.

I have a feeling we may see more of Jarod and Eli, one of my favorite couples of the series. The ending is joyful but bittersweet. Most endings are.

“There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.”
―Frank Herbert

This feels like the end of an era. The Collars & Cuffs series has come to end. I'm not the biggest fan of the BDSM subgenre, but I can say without a doubt that this series is my absolute favorite in this category. There's always sweetness and real emotion between the characters, and that's what makes the difference for me. Endings and Beginnings came close to perfection. And it's exactly how a series should end.

The authors couldn't have chosen a more fitting title. Endings and Beginnings is about... well, endings and new beginnings. Everyone is here; all couples from the previous books, which gave me a sense of closure I hadn't even realised I needed, plus a new romance to spice things up.

Everyone has come such a long way! Alex is no longer uncerain and awkward, but a confident, understanding and hard-working man. He and Leo are stronger than ever. Peter made me so proud in this book. Once again, he's facing the painful past head-on, and wins every time. Thomas is always Peter's safe place. I was happy to see that Scott is still his exuberant, bouncy but sweet and kind-hearted self. And soon-to-be Ben's husband! Jarod....still down-to-earth and giving, and so happy he has a place that feels like home. Jarod and Eli have great things ahead of them. The cheeky "non-sub" Jeff was there too, and his experience with jock-straps is something to be remembered!

What I love the most is the sense of brotherhood among these people, especially the subs. They 're not just friends, they 're brothers. They are the family that they chose for themselves.

JJ and Darren are the new couple. I admit that I didn't warm up to JJ until the end. He was always acting on impulse, making unfair assumptions, and hurting a lot of people in the process. Without ever staying to face the concequences. But in the end, JJ not only realises his mistakes, but he redeems himself. I felt that these were very powerful, emotional scenes, and a sort of catharsis for JJ.

Darren was simply amazing. If there is a thing like "a natural dom", Darren is it. JJ and Darren are just starting their relationship and decide to venture into the BDSM world, under the guidance of the other members. It's a journey and the reader gets to experience it with them; what works for them and what doesn't, how far do they want to stretch their limits...The sex scenes are incredibly sexy and sensual at the same time.

Collars & Cuffs came to an end, but their characters will stay with me forever. And I, secretely, hope that the end of this series will maybe be the beginning of another. Very highly recommended!

NOTE: This book does not work as a standalone.

Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This was a story that I put off enjoying. Not because I wasn't eager to see what happened, and definately not because I don't Love the Collars & Cuffs gang, no..I put off reading or listening to this story because I didn't want to face the end.
I am one of those people where if I don't acknowledge something, I can keep pretending it isn't true. Is that healthy? Probably not. But who says we are all healthy - haha! I simply didn't want this series to end. I have enjoyed it so much, and the characters, well they become like part of this big character family in my heart and I can't stand to see their story end. Not when we have gone through so much together! Anyways, I digress.

I finally did listen to the audiobook of Endings and Beginnings, Book 8 in The Collars and Cuffs Universe and I F*cking loved it! Pure perfection. I am so happy with the way K.C. Wells and Parker Williams took this story and ended this series, over the moon happy! Because guess what? Nobody was killed off (well nobody that we would grieve over at least) and there was a sense of, this is "NOT the end, it's just farewell for now" - meaning, there is always the chance that we Will or we May see these characters all again. Also, a lead off into a new Era, a new club, Secrets was born and I hope we get to see Jarod and Eli as they take this new journey.

Of course, there are a few things I can only hope we will get shared with us in the future, maybe a Holidays story for Collars and Cuffs can be written down the line, who knows - anything is possible. But, even though I want more, these two authors produced a hell of a series and they have ended it with a perfect conclusion. I have no complaints. Well, other than - I want more. But, I get it. It's better to end this series now than to drag it on and have content possibly get repetitive or lackluster.. so Bravo to the authors and thank you from all of us readers for creating this amazing series. For bringing us Leo and Alex, Thomas & Peter, Scott & Jeff, Andrew & Gareth, Damian & Scott, Alan & Dorian, Eli & Jarod, and now JJ & Darren - we love them all.

The audiobook of this story was done by a different narrator than the rest of the series and I loved that he actually had a british accent! Great narration for the story and he did a really good job bringing the series home with passion.

5 Amazing Stars for this story and this series!

Release day review posted at Sinfully.

This is bittersweet for me, saying goodbye to a favorite series and some favorite couples, but K.C. Wells and Parker Williams did a great job tying up all their stories and giving us a brand new one with club bartender JJ and Darren, the salon owner we met in Trusting Thomas. While this is JJ and Darren’s story, and the romance is exclusively theirs, the plotline involves the club and its members so there is time to say goodbye to all your favorites. If you’re new to the series you really need to start with An Unlocked Heart and work your way through before reading this story as so much of what has happened in the past comes back into play here.

Darren wants what he saw between Peter and Thomas the day they came to his salon for Peter’s “rebirth”. He wants to love and to be loved, but he also wants to be in control and take care of someone. He is finally ready to take Thomas up on his offer to visit the club and when he lays eyes on JJ behind the bar, he is instantly attracted.

Growing up never knowing his father then finding out his mother had lied to him most of his life, JJ finds it hard to trust people. It soon becomes clear that he is working at Collars & Cuffs for reasons other than just needing a job. What he sees between the couples at the club has him yearning for that sort of a connection. But recent events have shaken JJ and the only thing that seems to bring him comfort is potential club member Darren. JJ’s instincts tell him Darren is trustworthy, but will anyone want to know JJ once they find out his secret?

Both Darren and JJ discover a lot about themselves and each other, and they are both moving into new territory with this relationship. Darren is amazing. Patient and caring, he just wants to take care of JJ and will do anything he can to earn his trust. JJ took a bit of time to warm up to, but really he’s just lonely and hurt. He tends to run when things get hard, which could be a bit frustrating, but when he decides to give Darren a chance his feisty and fun nature comes out. The two have a challenging and emotional road to find the connection they have both longed for and it’s within reach, as long as JJ doesn’t let his fears get in the way. Both are also new to the world of BDSM, but are ready to learn and explore and have an amazing sexual chemistry. Darren takes to his Dom training naturally and elevates dirty talk to a whole new, seriously hot level, and JJ has a wide range of kinks he wants to share with Darren. The type of BDSM relationship they are building is unique to them, just like the wide variety of relationships that have been explored throughout this series.

While this is JJ and Darren’s story, it does take place in and revolve around the Collars & Cuffs club and its family members so it allows for a creative and fitting farewell to the series. The authors weave in the stories and points of view of the characters from prior books, allowing fans one last look at the couples they have come to love. Even Miles and Pietro, who have been on the sidelines since the first book, get some long overdue page time.

Although the romantic pairings have always been the focus of the books, there have also been some great friendships written and they continue here in Leo and Thomas, Peter and Alex, and my new favorite, the relationship between the oldest and youngest subs, Jarod and Scott. Any tears I shed while reading this book were completely their fault!

Endings and Beginnings has everything a great series finale should, including laughs, tears, new milestones, and a guarantee of future happiness for everyone involved. Of course, since this is Collars & Cuffs, there is plenty of hot sex, romance and kink. I’ve really loved seeing these couples grow, and even those who started off rocky, have happily learned from their mistakes. In this installment most of the couples face big life changes, expected and unexpected, and though we are saying goodbye, it may be, for some, more of a see you soon.

It’s not goodbye pet. This might be the ending of one story, but I promise you, it’s the beginning of another.

Thank you K.C. Wells and Parker Williams for creating a series that contains a few of my go to re-reads and favorite couples, and giving it a perfect ending.

Well I did it, I read Endings and Beginnings, though I don't mind admitting I was terrified to begin the story. I kept thinking about a quote from the commentary of the Doctor Who serial The Pirate Planet: "Who do we know and who can we kill off?" Over the years I came to dearly love each couple in the Collars and Cuffs series and I wondered, how would the authors conclude this much beloved series? Would everyone make it out alive? Still a couple? Would I be able to get through the story without becoming a blubbering mess?

The primary characters in this final tale are Darren and JJ. Darren was introduced during a pivotal, moving event in Trusting Thomas; a strong, insightful, patient person who has decided to explore his dominant side, finally acting on Thomas' invitation to visit the club and where he meets an intriguing bartender. JJ had ties to Collars and Cuffs that no one knew about which played a very important part in who he was. An unhappy, confused and insecure young man trying to sort through a web of truths and lies. Theirs was a deeply moving journey of discovery, of a responsible man determined to learn the right way to become the Dom JJ needed, of a young man needing to figure out how to let go of the past and learn to trust. Also a very important part of this book was connecting with couples from previous installments in the series, seeing how their relationships had progressed and how they had grown stronger both as individuals and as couples.

Though I am beyond devastated to say good-bye to all these wonderful couples, I have to admit that the authors did a good job wrapping up the series. I have been touched by each installment and this one most of all. Oh, the answer to the last question from the first paragraph is no, I did not get through the story without becoming a blubbering mess. For the last half of the book I sat in a shady spot of a bank parking lot with an iced coffee and went through multiple paper towels (I suspected I would need something stronger than tissues). I congratulate the authors on creating memorable characters that became part of a community and eventually became a family, one I came to care deeply about. Over the years there has been much laughter & tears, but most of all the authors made me care about the characters and their stories. There has never been a book in the series that I have closed and thought, "That's done, on to the next book on my TBR list." These books have remained with me long after I had finished them and I will revisit the series in the future when I need to spend time with old friends.

I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

I was given an ARC from the authors for an honest review

This was kind of a hard book to read because it's the close of an amazing series. To say I didn't want to say goodbye was to put it mildly, but I am so so glad I read it.

I loved Darren and JJ. The sweetness of their connection warmed me to my core and their journey to discovery together was wonderful. They walked it side by side even when one of them stumbled. Yes, most of the mistakes were on JJ's part because he is so young and wounded, but he learned from his errors. Part of the reason was because of Darren's maturity in character and desire to help but JJ wanted to grow and that was wonderful.

What I liked most about Darren was that he always, ALWAYS, tried to see it from JJ's perspective even when JJ's actions hurt him. He tried so hard to help without damaging JJ's pride and understood from the beginning that they came from two separate backgrounds.

Darren is a Dom through and through, so he would take charge if he was needed to and understood that he had to learn how to do it properly. The scenes with the two of them going through the rules and contracts were hilarious and touching all at once. They both understood that there were things they would not agree on and it was fascinating to see them discuss what they might try to please the other and what was off the table.

They have one of the most creative love scenes I've ever read and I will buy the audiobook just to get to hear Darren's Dom voice.

Since this was the last book the authors gave us bits of the other couples that made this the perfect end to the series. We get to see Peter find the part of himself that Thomas knew was there all along. Leo and Alex finally talked about the man whose memory should not be forgotten. Alex showed a maturity and heart that made Leo love him even more. And Ben, holy moly Ben. He was the one sour note in the series for me because even though I enjoyed his and Scott's book I had major issues with his big screw up in that book that I still held a grudge. Not anymore though because we got to see how he'd truly learned from it.

Eli and Jared are my favorite couple of the series. I admit that I am more than halfway in love with Jared. It is so wonderful to see the BDSM dynamic they have. Jared, the sub, has the maturity and experience. He has the heart to see that Eli is not his previous Master and is willing to change his life around to make sure Eli is happy.

While it would seem to be typical that the sub does whatever needed to please the dom, the best part of the series has been how it shows you the power of the sub. How it is the dom's responsibility to put the subs needs and safety first. Eli has stepped away from a job that fulfills him so he could care for Jared after his heart attack. Jared demonstrates the strength he has by not allowing Eli to be unhappy and finds a way to give them both what they need.

The relationships and friendships between all the characters are the core of this amazing series and demonstrate the true heart of this lifestyle that so few books capture perfectly.

P.S. Kc & Parker I hope to God that Jared's and Eli's new start means another series is coming.

At the end of book #7 there was an ending sentence that almost had me afraid to open this book. I'm sure I was not alone and luckily it was all more than okay. Big relief. I had already come to the conclusion that judging by the title of this one that I was going to being saying farewell to the wonderful, warm, loving couples that I had grown to love in this series. The two authors did a magnificent job of ending it, but as the title says, creating new beginnings. They brought together each of the couples and some of the side characters to tell the readers that they were going to go on and their happiness was going to grow. It took nearly 400 pages...but they did it! Two of the characters whose story I had just recently read are going to carry on the theme in a different location and a different club...one that they now own in London... but I'm sure that if the authors follow the format of this series that the new series with a new club called "Secrets" will see some of the old friends from Collars and Cuffs coming to visit. I and I'm sure thousands of other fans of this series are thanking Parker Williams and K C Wells for not killing off any of the people as many ending TV series are in the habit of. I have already bought the 4 books in the "Secrets" series, and I will, I'm positive, reread them as often as have Collars and Cuffs. Thank you to both of the authors for the time and the obvious thought that went into creating, Leo, Thomas and all the other characters that made this series what it was.

I've loved everything about this series, other than what I consider to be a minor blip with Someone to Keep Me [loved the cover, but the MC's?? Not so much unfortunately], but what's that old saying?? When one door closes, another one opens...and that is exactly what's happening with this story, the final one in the C & C universe. :(

Alex and Leo, oh and let's not forget Jarod and Eli rate amongst my most favourite couples in the whole of the genre, and I have to say that I've honestly been dreading the final story, so this is quite a bittersweet moment for me. What K.C. and Will have delivered however is an upbeat story of a new Dom, Darren, and his sub JJ, who has a secret that some of the regulars at C & C will be shocked to learn, and could possibly cost him his fledgling BDSM relationship with Darren AND his friendship with the other subs at the club if discovered.

How the story progresses, how all the loose ends come together [and they do, no worries] and what happens when the huge secret is revealed is for you, the reader, to discover and become engrossed in BUT do not despair fellow Collars & Cuffs fans...remember what I've said in this review and believe me when I say that When one door closes, another one opens.... Cannot wait to see what KC and Will come up with in the future.....

5 stars from me, it's been an absolute pleasure to go on this journey with all the guys, and thanks for the ARC as usual dear Authors!! <3

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

Firstly this wasn’t as difficult to read as I had built up in my mind. Yes, it was goodbye. No, I didn’t want to leave Collars and Cuffs and all the men we have met along the way BUT it was wrapped up in a way that felt like it was goodbye for now and not goodbye for ever and more importantly neither author decided to kill anyone off that we cared about!

Endings and Beginnings is a longer story than we have become accustomed to in this series yet it read quickly and was over all too soon. Whilst ending the series and ending our interaction with characters we first started out with three years ago it’s also a beginning for Darren and JJ. Darren has had a burning curiosity about the BDSM lifestyle for a couple of years since witnessing something very special and intimate between Thomas and Peter. Just as he is brave enough to take the plunge and speak to Thomas at the club fate seems to look down on him and puts JJ in his sights.

JJ is the new barman at the club and has secrets which are slowly starting to unravel. This is where the past and present tie in so smoothly as the news breaking at the club leaves emotions running high. JJ is a huge mass of emotions and doesn’t know who to trust. His mother lied to him to save him from being hurt but in doing so made it difficult for him to trust anyone. His reason for taking a job at the club has been blown out of the water and the people he thought were his enemies actually turn out to be his friends. Through all his turmoil Darren is the one constant person in his life that remains solid and he bends over backwards to try and walk JJ though all the distress he is feeling. As neither man has any experience of a D/s relationship things don’t always run smoothly and I think it helps that Darren listens so carefully to what JJ does and doesn’t say. Darren’s maturity and focus on JJ as someone he needs to care for plays a huge part in them moving forward.

We also get a lot of on page time with the other couples from the series, this is au revoir after all, and it was good to see them all still as strong and committed as ever even when rallying together through the latest shit storm. Each couple seemed to have moved forward with something from the past and this was especially true for Peter who was affected badly by the news at the start of the book. The biggest change though comes for Eli and Jared who turn their lives upside down to start a new future – perhaps one we, as readers, will be involved with quite soon.

If a series has to end then KC and Parker have just shown us how to do it properly. Give everyone their happy and leave the door open for new opportunities – London here we come (hopefully!).

Review: Endings and Beginnings
For those of you who are mourning the end of the Collars and Cuffs series, this is the book for you. Rejoice! KC Wells and Parker Williams take us on a brief review of the couples who have found each other through the club during the series. There’s a death (gasp!), a journey’s change of direction, a fear of discovery, a runaway and a beloved couple who leave town. That’s some of the endings.
The beginnings include a wedding (I’ll let you guess whose), a reunion, an upcoming birth, a new bartender, a new dom-wanna-be, a dom who wants more training, the opening of a house for homeless young people, and a lot of self-discovery. There’s also a mention of a new series (hooray!) that fans of Collars and Cuffs will look forward to with great excitement.
This is a long book, but you won’t want to miss a single word. I don’t want to give away anything so I’m not going to risk spoilers by writing a long review. Suffice to say, you’re going to love this book. Even if it’s your first Collars and Cuffs story it’s just going to whet your appetite for the previous stories, but it can actually stand alone. KC Wells and Parker Williams have written a magnificent series and end it on a high note. I don’t know when I’ve read the finale to a series that is more perfect and satisfying than the weaving together of all the stories at the end of Endings and Beginnings. This book is highly recommended for those who have followed along as the series debuted each book and also for those for whom Endings and Beginnings is the first Collars and Cuffs book they have picked up.

I've enjoyed getting to know the men of Collars and Cuffs. It was wonderful to catch up with the couples from the previous books. I definitely like the idea that this may be a beginning for a new group of couples.

I will honestly say that I did not click with Darren and JJ. I'm not sure why that is. Thanks to the other couples, I still enjoyed this final book in a fabulous series.

It was with a great deal of sadness that I began this final book in the 'Collars and Cuffs' series. It is one of my favorite series of all time and the thought of not having any more new couples and stories makes tears well up. These books are, undoubtedly, rereads and I'm grateful for that because I never want to lose the connection I've always felt for each of the couples. Since I trust these two authors with everything I am, I knew this finale was going to be fantastic.

In that moment it seemed to Thomas that the last few years had simply been a time of respite after a squall, a momentary lull before the storm clouds gathered and obliterated the sunlight. He closed his eyes, his heart aching for what Peter was going through.

The authors certainly started off with a bang, bringing horrible news that affected more than one of the subs in their group. The repercussions will be felt, strongly, for a very long time. Not just repercussions, either, but new revelations might shatter any hope for healing these young men in need, Peter especially. Peter broke my heart just as much as he did in 'Trusting Thomas'. To say I was reading with one hand resting on my heart is not an exaggeration.

JJ is a relatively new bartender at Collars and Cuffs having only worked there for four months. He started with preconceived notions about the BDSM lifestyle and the people he would meet. The problem is that everything he has seen is most definitely not what he expected and he's very confused about what is right. Darren has known for years that there's something he's missing, something he can feel inside but isn't sure where to go with it. Until members of Collars and Cuffs start becoming regular customers at his salon. When he assists Thomas with Peter's transformation for his rebirth, Darren is awed by the obvious love and respect he witnesses, and he realizes that's what he wants. So he gets up his courage and walks through the doors.

The attraction between Darren and JJ is immediate and they begin to date while Darren is still deciding whether he wants to be a member of the club. Unfortunately, JJ's past rises up and hits not only him, but several of my well loved couples. I loved the way Thomas and Peter handled what JJ had to tell them, and I adored Darren for sticking by JJ and giving him the rock he'd always needed.

The authors truly picked the perfect title for this book. Many of my nagging curiosities were explained, i.e. Leo's first love and sub, Gabe, who was killed in a tragic accident. Alex finally gets Leo to talk about Gabe, to share him with Alex, and it was marvelous. Seeing Pietro and Miles moving on in their relationship, and Eli and Jarod doing the same, was exciting and made me so happy to see more resolution between couples I adore. I got little vignettes about my couples but everything tied in together so well that the storyline was seamless.

I honestly thought that I'd seen every possible scenario between BDSM couples in the last seven books, but these authors showed me one more and I was thrilled. Darren and JJ are the first couple that I've been able to walk along their journey of discovering a D/s lifestyle when they're both newbies and untrained. It was more than extraordinary and showed me how much I still need to learn about this genre. Being able to watch Thomas train Darren and JJ was truly incredible.

I'm not sure I can express the sheer perfection the authors showed in this novel and all of my couples. Every moment was filled with love and family, exactly what Collars and Cuffs has brought to my life. I will miss these men but I will have them in my memories, always.

Well, this was a great way to say goodbye to this series.

Darren and JJ were wonderful protagonists, and I loved seeing them embark on their D/s relationship together, slowly discovering their kinks and their needs. Also, I need to mention the role playing because *chef's kiss* I now need a dozen more recs with it.

I also loved that JJ and Darren weren't the only protagonists: we get lots of the previous characters POVs, including my precious babies Alex and Leo, and Miles and Pietro, who haven't got a book but so deserved one. There's twists and turns, steam and romance, shocking, emotional moments and bittersweet ones too, and every single scene is packed with the same found family atmosphere that this series has always excelled at.

Dorian and Alan only get a few mentions, unfortunately, because I probably would have rated this book much higher if they had more page time. But oh well.
Anyway, this series wasn't my favourite: there are some excellent books, some of them are okay, others were very annoying. I don't think I'll be reading the next series any time soon, and if I did, I'd probably only do it because Rob, Alex's brother, has a book and I love a good, ol' redemption story. But yeah, we'll see.

Anyway, this was a nicely done conclusion to this series and I think I'll even miss the group interactions and the found family between all the Collars and Cuffs members, very much.

It's always bittersweet, when a beloved series comes to an end. It's especially bittersweet when said series end captures all the perfection from its previous books, and leaves the reader, while sad that it's over, happy that it happened.

Such is the case with Endings and Beginnings, the 8th and final book in the Collars & Cuffs series, set in and around a BDSM club in Manchester, England.

The two authors did a fantabulous job letting me reminisce about the previous books, in which we met Leo and Alex, Thomas and Peter, Ben and Scott, Eli and Jared, Dorian and Alan (my favorite book), Andrew and Gareth, Damian and Jeff, and then introduced me to Darren and JJ.

Darren is the owner of the beauty salon where Peter had his "rebirth", and ever since that moment, he's been intrigued with the intimacy and connection he saw between Thomas and Peter. He wants that for himself, but doesn't quite know how to get it.

JJ is a new bartender at Collars & Cuffs, and he has a secret. No, I'm not going to reveal that here - you read this for yourself and find out. Let it suffice that when I saw the words on the page, my mouth was hanging wide open and my eyes nearly popped out of my head. Yes, the authors went there. And it was perfect, because it shows that evil has far-reaching consequences.

So Darren seeks what Thomas and Peter have, and JJ seeks something else. And then their paths cross...

There's a wedding, there's Peter growing by leaps and bounds, there's a nasty wanna-be reporter trying to fuck things up, there's holy hot boysecks, Batman, and there's love, so much love. That, to me, is the underlying message in each of these books, aside from clearly explaining most if not all aspects and varieties of BDSM - that love and respect are at the core of these relationships. Love is what binds these men more than ropes or cuffs ever could.

I adored the two main characters for this book much like I adored the main characters in previous books, and as we get to revisit with them all, none of them ever lose their voices they've been given throughout the series. It was wonderful to see Alex and Leo on screen, and check in with Dorian and Alan, as well as Thomas and Peter and Eli and Jared. Changes are coming for some of them, and a beloved couple is given a wonderful opportunity to grow and find a new home.

I had a great time watching Darren and JJ grow close, with Darren instinctively understanding how skittish JJ was and adjusting his pursuit of the young man accordingly.

JJ has some hard lessons to learn, one of which is that not all is what it seems, and the other big one is that pride comes before the fall. And that maybe he was wrong all along.

This was a fitting ending to a great series, and while I'm sad that it's over, I am able to re-read these books any time I want to. And I will. Each one is written with such emotion that I can't help but form a connection with the characters, smile and laugh and cry and fear with them. There's no pointless drama - each step forward and each step back has a purpose - and the characters communicate (well, for the most part) with each other, and when they don't, they quickly realize that they need to if they want the relationship to succeed.

Even though not all eight books are collabs between KC Wells and Parker Williams, the two authors' writing styles mesh seamlessly, and they gave us a magnificent send-off to this series.

I hope they will write more books together in the future, even if those aren't about Collars & Cuffs. Maybe as the title seems to indicate, this is only the beginning to a prolific series of books we may look forward to in the future.

Reviewed for Just Love.

This book is so much more than just about Darren and JJ. A large part of it is, yes, but there is a lot more going on. The authors weave a story together, giving us pieces of past characters, showing us how they’re all doing in their relationships, how they’ve moved forward, and what new adventures they’re embarking on. Along the ride that all of these men take, Darren and JJ take one of their own.

The ties that bind JJ to some members of Collars and Cuffs is a terrifying one for him. Mistakes are made, bad assumptions, and trust is not easily won or given. When he meets Darren, he’s in a bad place, a little lost, and really in need of true friendship, companionship, and love. Darren is just the man to give that to him. Darren helps to guide JJ, and with the help of the other Doms, and a whole lot of love and understanding from the subs, JJ is able to grow into a new man. This happens because as with all the books in this series, the love and understanding the men at Collars and Cuffs have is beautiful. This is a community that sometimes feels almost too perfect to be true, just adding to the romance of the stories. It’s really a precious thing.

As Darren and JJ work to find their peace, the rest of the members at Collars and Cuffs are all finding their own. Just like the title says, this is a book of beginnings. There are the beginnings of a new relationship for Darren and JJ, starting from scratch in more ways than one. The beginnings of new frontiers for established relationships, all from the characters in past books from this series.

And just like the title says, this is a book of endings. What is to be the final book in this long series about a club for like minded individuals, it’s an ending for a reader, like me, who will no longer be a part of their lives. It’s an ending to a series of books that always had characters who were good, honorable men. Men who seek out others to be a part of their tribe… of their family. The best parts of this book and series is the sense of family these men share. The community they’ve built within a larger one is precious.

I may have preferred that Darren and JJ’s story was not part of a book that brings the series to an end in this way. Combining Darren and JJ’s journey together with all the other stories that get us up to date with the other characters tended to take me out of their sections, and visa versa. That’s really the only thing preventing me from rating this higher because I really did enjoy the book.

I’m sad to see them go, but I’m hopeful that we’ll see them all again. The door is wide open for a new series to move forward. One where we follow a couple of beloved characters on a new adventure in a new city. I’m crossing my fingers for that.

* Should be read after finishing other books in the series.

A wonderful and fitting end to the Collars and Cuffs Series.

An honest review of an ARC copy.

Having read the whole series. Endings and Beginnings, has to be one of my top three from the series. I had no idea what to expect. The plot is cleverly tieing (no pun intended) the characters new and old that suffered at the hands of Curtis Rogers. I really enjoyed the mix of some really funny humour as well as the emotional elements of the story. Even better we get to see two guys starting their journey as a Dom and Sub. JJ started working at the club not knowing what to expect but what he finds instead is honest and caring men who act as a family and protect each other.

Darran breifly featured in Trusting Thomas, in a very powerful and emotional scene between Thomas and his Boy Peter. Darran has always been a leader in his hair salon, but something awakened when he witnessed the scene between Thomas and Peter. Something that kept knawing away in his mind.

Both Darran and JJ realise fairly early on their journey that it is the bond, a strong and powerful connection between Dom and Sub. That is what they both need and have been looking for.

We also get to see all the familiar faces as many of the stories end. Pietro and Miles finally set up home together, Jarod and Eli say good by to manchester to set up their own BDSM club in London. Scott and Ben get married. And Alex leaves the restaurant to put his degree to good use in Marketing.

A really enjoyable read, Like the whole series. The series shows that BDSM relationships are not just about power and control, but there is trust, love, need and loyalty as well as protectiveness between the couples.

KC Wells and Parker Williams have outdone themselves with the final chapter in the C&C series.
I know I will re-read this series many times in the future. Just to reconnect with the wonderful characters.

A nice ending to the series, I give this one 4.25 stars.

Darren wants the intimacy that he sees between Thomas and Peter and finally takes up Thomas' offer to visit the club. On his first trip there, he meets JJ. Darren has an abundance of patience for JJ; he knows that he wants JJ in his life and is willing to do what it takes to make it happen.

JJ started working in the club for reasons that had nothing to do with being curious about the lifestyle. In fact, he's completely confused by what he finds. JJ is connected to the members of the club in ways that no one expects. JJ is angry, hurt, and needs someone to trust, but not very accepting of it when he gets it. He has a lot of growing up to do, a lot of it happens in this book as he comes to term with his past and his relationships with Darren, the club members, and his family.

I liked Darren; JJ grew on me slowly. Darren has a wellspring of patience as he deals with JJ's anger, distrust, and immaturity. It was wonderful to see how everyone in the club was progressing and moving forward with their lives together. The ending was joyful for many reasons, but bittersweet enough that I cried. I was especially happy to see Jared and Eli getting involved in a venture...I hope means we will see more of them soon.

While the other books could be read as standalones for the most part, this one requires reading of the other books for the impact of the various story lines to hit their mark.

This was a really sweet read - while the angst level was reasonably low there was enough edge between JJ & Darren to keep me hooked. This book celebrated the Collars & Cuffs family and highlighted to love and joy that came with being in this group of men. Friendship, love and trust. I sense with the closing of this series a new one in Secrets may begin ?

4.5 Stars ~ Sniffs. It’s over. Sniffs. I loved this series. But… Yay! Cannot wait for the men of Secrets who will tell their tales beginning next year (insert fan girl squeal here).

It all began with An Unlocked Heart, and an incredible series full of depth and emotion began. Endings and Beginnings is book eight in this series, and the final book in our journey through the lives of the men who call Collars & Cuffs BDSM Club home. This series has covered so many aspects of the BDSM lifestyle and has never shied away from telling the hard emotional tales these men have. Usually in a series you know which books you liked best over the others (and I definitely have my favorites), but in this case I can say that I have truly enjoyed all the books in this series. KC Wells and Parker Williams have a writing style that is spot-on and character driven, which makes each of these books an individual treat. While there is an overall arc and backstory, each of these books is a standalone in its own right—except for this last one—which ties up several storylines and therefore, may be confusing if you have not read the books these men were featured in. I am so glad that this series didn’t stop after the first three, as the authors originally intended. This book does skip around a bit, trying to tie up loose ends for all the different couples, and to set you up for the new series coming, and I have to say that I understand why they wrote it that way, but I wish there had been more of just Darren and JJ. I feel like their relationship together, after the establishment of trust, wasn’t fully explored.

Darren Fielding owns the salon that many of the local Doms bring their boys to. He has seen first-hand the kind of intimacy and connection these men have together and craves that same connection for himself. He’s not a Dom, even though he has always had domineering tendencies and likes his sex on the rougher side. He’s a newbie, checking out the club and seeing if it fits with the direction he wants his life to go in. Walking into the club feels like coming home for him—but taking on the responsibility of a submissive is huge and Darren, while anticipating it, is still apprehensive. However, he cannot ignore the instant chemistry and connection he feels toward the bartender at the club.

“And the idea that one day Darren could find someone to depend on him, to gaze at him with the overwhelming intensity that Peter had when he and Thomas were together? Yes, he wanted that. More than anything in life, he wanted someone to care for. To share a life with. To know he would be the guiding light for someone would be more than Darren could hope for.”

JJ Taylor is a mess. He’s lived with lies for so long he doesn’t know if he can come out from behind the walls he has built up around himself. Seeing and talking to Darren is scary and wonderful all at the same time, but he doesn’t know if he can open up and have the kind of relationship that Darren wants from him. Learning that he is submissive, and embracing that aspect of his personality, leads him to develop relationships with the other submissives at the club and teaches him that not all people are out to deceive him.

“The level of trust between Doms and subs. God, he wanted that. He longed for it. To have someone who believed in him. Someone he could trust in. Someone who’d keep him grounded in the here and now, rather than letting him dwell on the past fiction that was his life. He’d watched them at the club. Ben had Scott. Leo had Alex. Thomas had Peter. And there were others too. “I want that too.” He whispered his heartfelt desire, let it out into the open in the hope that someone heard it.”

I think it is apropos that this last book is about two men who are so new to the lifestyle. After all, Collars & Cuffs will continue on even if the men inside it change and evolve, and it is also apropos that the book ends with Jarod and Eli beginning their journey to Secrets, their new BDSM club in London. This book puts a period on what is an amazing series. Well done!

Last books in a much loved series are always a scary prospect. Of course I want to know how the story is going to end, what the universe I’ve gotten so attached to will look like when I have to say goodbye for the last time. But on the other side is the reluctance to end what has been an amazing, thrilling and exhilarating love affair with a world and characters that have become so real it feels as if they’re part of my life.

But, the main thread of this story is the coming together of JJ and Darren. JJ has gotten the job in Collars & Cuffs for reasons that have nothing to do with a taste for BDSM, but the reasons he thought he had soon turn out to be founded on nothing besides wishful thinking on his part, and between the interactions he observes in the club and meeting Darren, he soon discovers that BDSM does indeed hold charms he’d been previously unaware of.

Darren is an all round decent—not to be confused with boring because Darren hasn’t got a boring bone in his body—guy. He’s been flirting with the idea of BDSM ever since he witnessed an intimate scene between Thomas and Peter, but it takes meeting JJ to send him on his path. Something about the younger man awakens Darren’s instincts to take care and protect. And even JJ initially refusing to be helped and distrusting his motives doesn’t deter Darren.

JJ has issues with trust, HUGE issues with trust, and it will take patience, care, love, and unconditional honesty on Darren’s part before JJ can truly accept that he has found the love and safety he’s always longed for.

While the main story line in this book belongs to Darren and JJ, every other couple we’ve come to love over the years makes an appearance. Their stories may have been told in previous titles, but that doesn’t mean their lives ended when their books did. Loose ends are tied up, things hinted at in the past come to fruition, and happy endings become even happier.

As such, I’m not sure what my favourite parts of this book were. As much as I enjoyed Darren and JJ’s journey, I couldn’t help being delighted every time the story stepped away from them for a moment, allowing me to spend time with Alex and Leo, Peter and Thomas, Scott and Ben, Pietro and Miles, Jarod and Eli and Jeff and Damian. Those moments, combined with the ups and downs of JJ and Darren's journey, brought me smiles, made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes, both of the happy and sad variety. I have to be honest and admit that both times I finished the book I felt as if I’d been put through an emotional wringer, but in the best possible way.

And so the story has reached its finale, because all good things must come to an end(ing). But don’t despair too hard. The clue is in the title, Endings and Beginnings. Or as Eli says it:

“This might be the ending of one story, but I promise you, it’s the beginning of another”

The ‘beginning’ of what exactly is for me to know and for you to find out when you read this wonderful book. I couldn’t possibly reveal all the secrets here.

Endings and Beginnings by K.C. Wells and Parker Williams was a PHENOMENAL ending to the Collars and Cuffs series. I really don’t want the series to end but since it did I could not have asked for a better ending. All of the older characters were in this one along with one more couple coming together within the story. There were multiple POVs of these two new characters and also the POVs of the older ones, which was just perfect! I loved getting into their heads again and seeing what they’ve been up to.

Darren was in the series earlier, an owner of a salon. He was introduced to us in Trusting Thomas and I’m so glad to see that he finally got his own story! He gets to meet JJ, the newest bartender at Collars and Cuffs who has a secret of his own. I really loved how Darren went about learning to become a Dom and how he got to do it with JJ who is also new to the scene.

JJ was a surprise character. I never would have guessed that Curtis Rogers would have had a kid out there and said kid would show up in the series! Blown away by that revelation. Though I found JJ a bit naive in his thinking that maybe Rogers had been set up by our Collars and Cuffs gang, he quickly realized his error in judgment. It was heart breaking to watch that realization overcome him and understand what a horrid man his father really loves. It was also beautiful to watch him open up to Darren and continue to explore who he is as a person as well as a sub.

The whole series was an amazing adventure! I HAD to give this one a 5 star as it was the ending of this beautiful series. *sobs* The interwoven POVs of old and new characters was a brilliant addition to this book and the way everyone got to catch up was bittersweet. I’m really going to miss the Collar and Cuffs gang but I am so pleased with how it all ended! Highly recommend not only this book but the whole series! Really! Who starts at the end anyway?

This was such a perfect ending to the Collars & Cuffs series - I already miss it! In typical Collars & Cuffs fashion, there was a beautiful love story involved with its unique brand of a BDSM relationship. One of the best things the authors have done throughout the series, is create very distinct characters and show the spectrum of BDSM - making the MCs relationships more believable and deeper.

In this one, since there were so many main characters from the series, the focus MCs for this story weren’t quite as developed - but definitely grew throughout the story. JJ started off struggling with who he is and Eli was certain in himself, but wasn’t sure after his Dom factor. The story came together very quickly and their heat was immediately noticeable - which I loved. The pacing wasn’t consistent throughout at times - but it didn’t take away from the overall wonderful story and the perfect ending (while setting up the new series) to one of my favorite series, Collars & Cuffs.

My one caveat (bringing my review from a 5 to a 4): As much as I loved the story, the first four chapters were a bit difficult for me to follow - it was basically a recap with a little update, of the previous seven couples we’ve met in the series… but there weren’t any markers or change in setting/dialogue to help the reader figure that out. As this was an ARC, my hope is that they will be able to add some settings to help the reader orient his/himself easier.

I can’t believe this series is ending. It was a great privilege to travel this road with two exceptional authors. I certainly hope that these authors will consider a new collaboration as I felt their writing styles complemented each other in ways that you never knew who was doing the writing.

In this book we get to meet Darren and JJ. The authors we spot on for the character development and I immediately fell in love with both MC’s. It was also great to see the characters from the previous books make an appearance. Darren and JJ had a really sweet connection and it was really wonderful to see and experience their joys and their tribulations in the effort to build a relationship. I just can’t say enough about the writing duo of Wells and Williams. Every book they write immediately draws me in and it does not want to let me go. In this book we had everything from a couple who leaves town to a death (not telling!!)-the endings and a wedding to opening a house for homeless young people-the beginnings. There was also the hint of a new series (YEA!!) and I certainly hope that it happens.

This book was an exceptional ending with hopes for a new beginning for a new series and I applaud the authors for a completed task that will have me re-reading these books for years to come.

This was such great ending to the series. I have truly enjoyed each and every one of the book in the Collars and Cuffs series and this one was no different. The authors take turns with each of the couples from previous books and show us where they are now and how they have changed and evolved over the years. I loved getting to see some of my favorite couples (Alex and Leo!!!) again. All of this catch-up was woven wonderfully around the tale of a new couple falling in love and discovering a new way of life in the BDSM community. Darren and JJ were a great couple and worked so well for each other. I loved Darren to pieces. He was such a steady presence for JJ, who quite frankly was all over the damn place. I didn't warm up to JJ quite as easily. I was frustrated by his habit of saying he needed trust and honesty, while at the same time not being willing to give those same things. It was great to see him finally come to this realization and have to fix his mistakes.

I can't wait to see what develops with the new series they have planned!! Next year can't come quick enough. =D

Another great book. I hope there is a spinoff series focusing around Secrets club because Jarod and Eli are my favorite couple and I want to see them again.
This one was all about family and the dynamic between everyone and how involved they are with each other. A new couple Darren and JJ are the main MC's but all the other couples make appearances and many section told from multiple POV's.
I loved this book but it can NOT be read as a standalone. You have to know these characters to enjoy this one.
What I love the most about all the books in the series is that their love for each other seems genuine, not only amongst the couples but everyone seems to really care about each other, and doesn't that just leave you with a warm gooey feeling inside.
Great read. Like I said I hope there is more to come.

From the moment I started this series, I knew it was something different and special. My socks were knocked off with the first book, and each subsequent story just continued to expand this world and family-yes family-to the point that as a reader I was experiencing the same emotions as the characters. You can't help but become fully immersed in every one of their lives, struggles and achievements. Endings and Beginnings is a wonderful conclusion to this series, while at the same time giving us the story of a brand new couple.

To me, the way the story is told is a tad different than the rest. Whereas the other books each primarily concentrate on the couple featured in that particular book with a few other characters' points of view scattered within, here in the final book of the series there are a lot more of those supporting characters' points of view to help them all bring closure--and new beginnings--to all of their stories, while still paying full attention to Darren and JJ's relationship. With the additional POVs being much more plentiful here, this read almost like what watching a television show feels like, moving smoothly from one story arc to another without compromising the integrity of Darren and JJ's story. I rather enjoyed this as it had my full attention every moment I was reading as I anticipated hearing more about all the wonderful couples from this series.

As for Darren and JJ...I loved them both. For two people who are new to the BDSM lifestyle, they seem to fit right in. Darren already knows about responsibility and taking care of people since he runs his own business, and his smooth, protective, firm demeanor make him a natural fit for the role of a Dom. JJ has trust issues, and has a link to the rest of the Collars & Cuffs family that is unexpected. When Darren and JJ meet, something just clicks between them...which leads to some of the most passionate chemistry I've seen in this series. JJ's tendency to run from situations and Darren's protective personality help move things along swiftly for them, also ramping up the intensity between the two men.

I love the descriptive writing in not just this book but in the entire series. It really brings the scenes to life and as a reader made me really FEEL as I read. Feel the emotions, feel the pain, feel the LOVE and yes, feel hot and bothered. The overwhelming message is about love, trust, and family, and that message is delivered loud and clear in every page, chapter and book in the series.

Ending and Beginnings will put you through a full range of emotions, and for me it was a 4.5-star read. I highly recommend this book and the entire series to M/M romance and M/M BDSM romance fans 18+ for adult language and explicit erotic sexual content. It is important to note--this is the final book in an 8-book series, and you really need to read the first seven books before starting this one or you will not understand many things that are going on. Don't worry--it's a fantastic series overall and by the time you're done, you'll feel like a part of the Collars & Cuffs family too. I sure did, and I'll surely be re-reading the series...because now that I'm done with it I'm already missing the characters.
