This is what I think of as the perfect 3* read. Nice easy story, nice likeable main and secondary characters plus of course the Gentry family, a little humour and some sex.
I’d hoped for more and at times I thought it was heading somewhere else. The story build but then it just kind of fizzled out and while I liked both Dalton and Cami I never really felt the connection or the pull like I had with their parents.
Ultimately this was an okay read.
I read this book because I’d noticed Turn and figured I’d check this out first. I’m still going to read Turn so fingers crossed.

I'm a little disappointed with this one - I expected an epic love story like Cord and Sawyer had but I didn't get that feeling between Cami and Dalton, and even by the end it sorta felt like a HFN. Something was missing, even the suspensy bit fizzled out to nowt.
I had hoped for more .... more of their love, more of their relationship, more of the twin bond between Cassie and Cami, more passion, more depth, more of the Gentry brothers because I can never get enough of them!

I can't believe I've slipped and haven't read anything from Cora Brent in so long. Strike brought all the reasons why I love this authors work so much rushing back and I can't wait to see what she'll come up with after this. In the mean time I will definitely be going back to read the books I missed though.
Cami and Dalton were amazing characters and I really liked seeing them together. Dalton seemed a little lost in life before Cami came around and we got to watch as he grew into a more self-assured Hero and figure out what he really wanted to do in life. As he did that he helped Cami stay true to herself and her dreams and I loved how he encouraged her to always go after what she wanted.

Strike was the first book in Cora Brent’s spinoff series, Gentry Generations.
Cami Gentry was one of the firstborn twins from Cord and Saylor (Draw, book one, Gentry Boys). She was a college student, and aspiring reporter who was home for the summer before her last year of college. For spare change she was working at the local resort as a receptionist in the spa. She was focused and definitely not looking for a relationship.
Dalton Tremaine was a former MLB player who suffered a career ending injury. He was now back home in Arizona managing a wildly successful night club until his dreams of opening a youth baseball center came to fruition.
I enjoyed the Gentry second generation tremendously. Brent also put the loyalty and bond of the first generation front and center while introducing us to the driven and fun offspring. She then combined it with a suspenseful plot, but nothing too over the top, just enough to make it interesting - although I would love to see more depth and resolution in future stories for some of the sub plots.
In the end, I loved the characters, the storyline and the emphasis on family. She ended Cami and Dalton with a happy for now scenario with a promise for a forever love. Hopefully she’ll continue to develop them as the series progresses.
All in all, it was a fast and enjoyable read and I can’t wait to explore more Gentry offspring. I wouldn’t mind seeing Hale, Dalton’s brother, in a story as well. Hint Hint...

This is my second book by Miss Brent. This book is romance but have some suspense on it. I have to say the suspense twist makes the romance much more interesting. The story becomes more alive. Although I wish the romance can take more dramatic turn.
I like Camy. She is really a kick ass heroine. She is head strong and smart woman. Its just she is too passionate and forget about her own safety. But at the end everything is HEA.

Strike is the 2nd in the spin-off of the Gentry series, which features the children of the gorgeous, diamonds-in-the-rough triplet sons of derelict prison-town parents.
This story has heroine, Camille Gentry, a twin and daughter of one of the triplets, Cord Gentry. Camille, or Camie, is shrewd and fiery, but she is very young, with more guts than caution. So, I think it was kind of apropos and served her right to meet up with Dalton Tremaine (what a name!), a guy who has known family dissension, disappointment, humbling, success, and second acts. Dalton is not very old, but he has some years on his little spitfire, and though he can't help but admire her gumption and her family foundation, he finds himself very drawn to Camie and what life can be.
I fell for Dalton for his All-American-boy-ism and his quietly stubborn integrity. I fell for Camie for her inquisitive mind and self-reflective, conscientious determination.
This story was good for its characterization of both the hero and the heroine, in addition to its attention to details about the older Gentrys and their lives/clan years later. What it missed or was just shy off was that combustible spark of that happened with first couple from the first series: Cord and Saylor(Camie's parents).
In all, I still love the Gentry's, but I do hope Gentry Generations will spin out at least one story about Gentry children that will make me raise my head and give a strong head knod.

I absolutely loved this book. I picked it up forever ago, and grabbed the audio book recently. While looking for something new to listen to on the way to work, I decided to give this one a try. I was immediately in love with it.
Usually when I listen to an audio book, and I'm completely hooked, I tend to pick up my kindle and just start reading the book, bypassing the audio because I can usually read more often than I can listen, and just listening for 2 hours a day when I'm in my car wasn't enough. But with this book, even though I couldn't wait to keep going with it, I was enjoying the narration of it so much, that I couldn't bring myself to pick up the book on my kindle. Needles to say, it made for a really tortorous two weeks as I waited for the drive to and from work to listen.
And let me tell you, there were times that I was dying in my car. I was laughing so hard, I was crying. This book just hit all the right notes for me.
I can't wait to keep going with books by this author, and reading about Cami's sisters. And I'll confess, I haven't read the original series about the first generations of Gentrys' either. I can't wait to go back and get acquainted with that generation.

September 13, 2017So I'm at 65% and I can't finish it. I just don't think this book is for me. It's lacking depth in the story and the characters and I'm just not finding Cammie and Dalton's relationship believable at all. Some of the vocabulary and the way the author is wording things I'm finding really cheesy and over the top. Just not for me.

I read a few so So reviews and was hesitant to start this new Gentry series. Glad I did NOT listen. Loved seeing the original fans and loved seeing Cord and Saylor as parents. Dalton manages a night club at the resort where Cami works. They instantly are attracted to each other. Cami is a bit immature at times, but realizes her mistakes and owns up to them. I will continue reading this series.

Started slow, I put it down and when I tried again, I got into it. The h is very young, and like her parents she falls fast for the older H. He is mad for her, but is also trying hard to get his life plan into play. She sees things happening, which evolves into a dangerous mystery and when they starting working together, they solve the mystery and how they can make it as a couple. Sweet story.

Sigh.... I love the Gentrys, but I swore they ended with the Conway boys, so I was SUPER PUMPED when I learned that the kids were getting stories and wed have all new generations of Gentrys!!
This one, is about Cami, who was one of the twin girls that Cord and Sayer had. And don't you worry, you get plenty of the original Gentrys, but seeing them as dads are so much hotter.
Who doesn't love a hot dad???
So, Cami is home for the summer after an internship falls through and her Uncle Deck has got her a job at a country club, working as a receptionist, in the spa... Its not what shed like to have been doing, but it's a job and she's back at home with her family and her twin sister Cassie, which she loves. I loved the relationship between Cami and Cassie. It reminded me so much of Cord and his brothers, though without the desperate need to have the other around like the boys did, because they didn't grow u like the triplets did. They had the love of a good family....a giant, extended family.
So, on her first day at he sa, a little interview mixup, has her meeting Dalton. He seemed arrogant and concieted and a whole lot gorgeous. Dalton is trying to get a youth baseball center set up, but in the meantime, while working on that, he works for his best friend Griffin, running the club at the resort Griffins family owns. Now.... I didn't like Griffin from the beginning. I dunno what he's into, because its vague, but the things he does and lets other people get away with, has me knowing he's not a good guy. I liked that Cami stood u to him and I liked that Dalton got away from him, especially after dealing with some shady business at he resort that had Camis reporter skills on high alert and Dalton just not being able to trust him.
Overall though, once Dalton got to know Cami, he wasn't the conceited arrogant guy that hed seemed to be, and I liked that. He reminded me a lot of Cord....
It was a cute read and again, I loved seeing the family and how everyone is doing all these years later.
I can't wait to read Cassie's story, I have a feeling its gonna be a heartbreaker... .and hell....did you see the cover....

Gentry Generation’s book one. I don’t know how long I waited for this one to hit my kindle. Probably since I tapped the last time on Edge and Snow and closed the stories about the first set of Gentry’s. Their children were meant to have a better life. Not only do they have loving parents, no, they never had to live with the shame of being a Gentry. That being said, I was still intrigued on how Cora would spin their stories.
First one of the bunch was Camille Gentry. Daughter of Cord and Saylor. They were my least favorite couple of the first generations, but I loved the glimpses we got of their twin daughters in previous books.
I expected a strong bond between the sisters and of course a love story that can be compared to the one of their parents. Unfortunately both wasn’t the case. I couldn’t feel the sibling connection between Camille and Cassie as much as I felt the connection between Cord, Creed and Chase. Maybe because they were fraternal twins, but yeah. I felt as if something was missing here.
The love story was okay. I didn’t feel the love between Cami and Dalton. It wasn’t really believable why they fell in love. I get why they fell in lust, because both were obviously good looking and sexy and yeah. Their problems seemed manufactured to add drama into the story. A drama that wasn’t solved to my satisfaction, but I hope for more in the next books.
All in all it was a nice quick read. The writing style was good and there were no plotholes or complications throughout the story. I expected more, but this book felt a little bit like an introduction in the Gentry Generations world. Maybe it’ll be like Cord’s story. A step inside, but not my favorite.

Gentry Girl Steps Up To The Plate ;)
Cami and Dalton were a perfect couple to usher in the newest Gentry Generation! Cami has always been the Lois Lane of the Gentry brood. With her inquisitive nature and desire to delve deeper she was always on the path to be a journalist. With her internship having fallen through for the summer, Cami is spending the summer break from college home with the family and working at the Spa of the local resort. While she loves getting more time with the family, this wasn't exactly how she pictured spending her summer! But the Spa has some redeeming qualities, like the people watching - nothing better for a budding reporter than a chance to see all walks of people in a resort. Townies, athletes, politicians, and so much more...looks like phones and reservations won't be the only things to hold Cami's attention. Especially when a certain ex-ballplayer turned nightclub manger starts to pop up and cause her forget logic and common sense. Dalton's job at the club was always supposed to just be a nice little limbo until his real dream of a training center for kids comes to fruition. He's not really a club guy, but when Griffin offered him the job at the right time it seemed like the right choice. When he meets the brainy beautiful Cami, Dalton is at first reluctant pursue such a young innocent lady, but soon realizes that she is kind of perfect in her right nowness. These two have amazing chemistry and a bond that extends beyond the bedroom. He genuinely likes this womans spirit and moxie, but it can also get her into trouble. When she goes digging as is her nature, she might get more than she bargained for.

I am a huge fan of the Gentry Boys series by Cora Brent, so I was so excited when I found out that she would be writing the Gentry Generations series. Strike is the first book and it features Camille, or Cami as she prefers. She one half of Cord and Saylor's twin girls. She is home from college for the summer. Cami is what you would expect of a Gentry. She is strong, independent and sassy. Her uncle Deck got her a job as a receptionist and on her first day of work meets Dalton Tremaine, former professional baseball player turned club manager. He's arrogant but sweet and hot! I loved the chemistry between Cami and Dalton. Something else I really loved about this book......Cord, Creed and Chase! So many times I have seen previous characters written into a spinoff series and it comes across as forced or silly but Cora Brent pulls it off perfectly. I look forward to getting the next in the Gentry Generation!!

Cami returns home after losing her job and gets a job at the local summer spa, that’s where things change, and she meets Dalton. Her mum always said love was like a lightening strike and she didn’t know what she meant then she met Dalton. Something about him has her thinking about him all the time but they’ve only just met.
Dalton is just filling in time till running the nightclub for his friend, and getting out of a bad relationship he certainly it’s looking for anything. When he meets Cami he knows there’s something special about her, he knows she not a one night girl, she’s a forever girl. The only thing he knows he needs to do is convince the Gentry’s that he’s serious about her.

This story hooked me in right from the get go. The characters are likeable and really fleshed out so it was it was easy to connect to them and I really bought into the romance and these characters.
The story flowed really well, it was engrossing and a lovely angst free romance. There was a nice little mystery side story to add something extra, although, I will say this fizzled out a little too easily for me at the end. All in all, this was a great start to the next generation of Gentry's and I look forward to more from this family in the future.

I don't know if I'm getting cynical or what but I didn't like the story, so much cliché without contributing to the story, Cami is a girl who instead of behaving like someone with thought and logic does everything being impulsive, Dalton believing at first a god incarnate on earth and from there I didn't understand anything of the attitude of the characters. I really liked the first saga of the parents but I don't know here I only read clichés and nonsense, literally almost the whole book develops in a two months and so much time, besides the part where Cami asks him if he loves the ex was like he is almost thirty and she is only 22, he could have five ex wives and children and she asks nonsense, and she gets jealous of the answer.

I love the Gentrys! This book had it all. Mystery, sweet love, sexy times, and the whole Gentry family. I can't wait to read more!!

I love the Gentry series and I was very excited to find that there would be a second generation series. I love the family aspect of this series and for me I love the atmosphere of the series more than the individual books (although, they are all really good as well).
Cami has got a job at a spa for the summer at home in Arizona since her journalism internship fell through. On her first day she meets Dalton who runs the exclusive night club on the resorts property. Dalton thinks she is there for an interview as the new bartender and there is some mix up as she is working the reception for the spa.
Dalton and Cami are always running into each other and find themselves going out with each other. The pair share an easy chemistry and get along really well. I loved getting to see Cord being very protective of Cami when Dalton picks her up for a date and all other interactions with the family.
I loved Cami’s close relationship with her twin sister Cassie. They are very different but they complement each other very well. I loved how they were very protective and supportive of each other as well.
Dalton and Cami’s relationship grows stronger but a mystery is uncovered, and Cami being the journalist she is, must get to the bottom of the story. Overall it was a very enjoyable read and I am looking forward to more of the Gentry family.

This book was a cute short read. It wasn’t my favorite from Cora Brent but not much drama to deal with. A good in between books/series read. I love the Gentry Boys series!

OMG!!!!!..... Cora has nailed it once again and brought us back to the wonderland world of the Gentry's,I absolutely loved this book I say this about all of Cora's books. I know, I know it sounds like I'm sighlty biased, but the woman is freaking amazing!... your drawn into this story from the first page, the way she has this ability to create such strong emotions between all the characters. Cami and Dalton connect from the start but I love the fact that she doesn't make it an Insta love romance, they have to work through struggles and up's and downs like everyone else and that makes there love more believable than just getting smacked in the face with it. I'm not going to tell you anything to do with the story, I think it's best to just dive right in and get lost in the world go the Gentry's.

I loved this book so much and I can not wait until then next book is out!

I definitely was feeling reminiscence reading this story on the awesome Gentry boys. Sometimes you go into a spin-off series with a bit of caution. You wonder how can anyone top some of my great loves. All I can say is this author did not disappoint.
This is a wonderful stand alone and it is not necessary to read the others. It does make me bit sad if you don't cause they are AMAZING!!!
This story involves Cami, a daughter of one of the Gentry Boys, and Dalton a retired baseball player. Cami is home from college and Dalton is managing a night club. Both are working the same resort which is how they meet.
Intertwined throughout the story you get bits and pieces of the supporting characters from all the other books (yeah). I also felt like possibly some of the next generation had storylines being introduced. This author is such a tease (haha).
I don't want you to feel that this story couldn't hold its own though because it does. It is weighty and full of content. The meaning of family throughout the book is a topic that gave it even more beauty.
I love the message of reputable men who embrace and treat their family well. This book has a element of intrigue within its storyline that gave some heart palpating moments.
The author also stayed true to her genre and wrote sexy and steamy really well (wink wink). Lastly, this book beautifully tells the magic of falling in love and I couldn't recommend it more. Happy Reading!!!

It wasn't bad, but I am pretty disappointed.
I loved the original Gentry Boys Series and was super excited to discover there was to be a spin-off series. Sadly, book one of Gentry Generations didn't live up to the hype I had built up in my head.
This was actually pretty fluffy. There was so much that could have happened in this story, but didn't. There was almost no angst, and the suspense fizzled out before it had a chance to go anywhere.
I really liked Dalton, and Cami was a couple notches above "okay", but even their romance felt a bit lackluster. I mean, that epilogue was super happy, but I didn't feel like it was earned.
I will read the next book, TURN, because I hope this was just a fluke and it all gets better. I need more of those Gentry's.
