I think I would have liked this one more had Ethan not been such an ass and putting off Ana time and time again. I sort of got the first time when he was getting ready to leave for a year. But later when they met up again and agreed to a fling he once again put her off, subtly telling her again and again that she wasn't important. Yes he changed his mind at the end, but for me it was a case of too little too late.

With obstacles in both of their ways, it'll take some creative maneuvering to figure out how to be together.

SAVAGED SURRENDER isn't its own book in the 1001 Dark Nights series, but it's considered the addition of a "Discovery Author." I'm a total sucker for a kitchen romance, and this story combines those aspects along with a little suspense, some rock star fun and the promise of some kinky role playing to be one seriously sexy read. I say "the promise of some kinky role playing" because, while the sex was über erotic, they never REALLY got to the forced seduction that Ethan craved. The constant threat/promise was there but there was always an interruption…then it ended. I'm not overly familiar with Ms. Lyon's work, but I'm very impressed by her ability to make the relationship between Ana and Ethan feel like it sat on a knife's edge. I'll most definitely pick up more by this author.

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--- SAVAGED SURRENDER is the introductory novella in Jennifer Lyons's contemporary, adult SAVAGED ILLUSIONS erotic, romance series focusing on the sexy rock band of the same name. The SAVAGED ILLUSIONS series is a spin off from Jennifer's THE PLUS ONE CHRONICLES. This is security specialist/ wannabe chef Ethan Hunt, and bakery chef Ana Kendall's story line. You do not have to have read the Plus One Chronicles to understand the concept of Savaged Surrender although I recommend reading the original series for the enjoyment.

Told from dual third person points of view (Ana and Ethan) SAVAGED ILLUSIONS is a story of second chances. For seven years Ethan and Ana were best friends dancing around their attraction to one another but never crossing the line between friendship and $ex. Ethan struggling with his past, as a former MMA fighter destroyed by a cheating scandal, finds our hero the newest security specialist for the rock band Savaged Illusions, and heads out on tour leaving a heartbroken Ana Kendall behind. Jennifer Lyon is back with her kickass writing! Savaged Surrender is yet another example of Ms. Lyon's innate ability to write an intriguing and sexy as sin book with such a unique quality to them. That's what I most look forward to. I know when I pick up one of her books, it's going to be unlike anything I've read before.

Savaged Surrender follows the angsty, and sensual story of Ethan and Ana. Very different, yet in some way perfect for each other because despite their differences they have this amazing need and understanding of another another. I fell head of heels for Ethan, and I related so much to Ana. Readers will truly get an amazing and wow-inducing ride in this book, and I can't wait for more books, hopefully from Ana's two best friends!

I was so excited to get my hands on this book. I loved Jennifer Lyon's Plus One Chronicles and SAVAGED SURRENDER features two of the secondary characters from that trilogy. It's also loosely related to her upcoming series the Savaged Illusions Rock Band series. If you haven't read THE PLUS ONE CHRONICLES I'd recommend reading the trilogy first, but this novella can be read as a standalone. I couldn't put this novella down. I loved Ethan and Ana together. Ethan was just yummy. I mean a bad-ass fighter that cooks? Ummm yes, please! SAVAGED SURRENDER was a great story with plenty of action and smoking hot romance. I loved it and can't wait for the upcoming spin-off series.

Jennifer Lyon is an auto-buy author for me--from her mysteries and suspense, to her ultra-sexy contemporaries, to her paranormal. She's hit a homerun (okay, last night was the first game of the 2016 World Series so give me a break...) with this crossover novella. She reintroduces two wonderful characters from her Plus One Chronicles and gives them their very own HEA and gives the reader a peek at her upcoming Savaged series about hot rockers.

Ethan and Ana are each damaged--and don't we all love damaged characters?!! Their chemistry is off the charts but they have to figure out the right dream to go for. There's a suspense thread, lots of hot sexy times, and a couple the reader just has to root for. Loved it!

For whatever reason I didn't realize this was somewhat related to the "Plus One Chronicles" >.> it's been a while since I read them though - so I didn't remember the hero and heroine, who were secondary characters.

I liked how developed both characters were - that was really nice - also how they were figuring out who they were - but also had some idea of it.
What bothered me was the whole hero "I'm not good enough for you so I'm going to decide on your behalf how your life is going to be."
Please. That's so ... archaic and old school? Let the heroine have enough agency to decide for herself what she thinks is good enough or not good enough for her - give her all the facts. Respect her enough and her intelligence to make an informed decision.

What was nice, however, was when both characters screwed up - and they did - that they owned up to it and apologized.

"Savaged Surrender" by Jennifer Lyon.

This novella can be read as a stand alone but it does connect Ms. Lyon's two series the 'Plus One Chronicles Trilogy' and the 'Savaged Illusions Trilogy'. The main characters of Ethan and Ana were introduced in the 'Plus One Chronicles' and this novella introduces the rock band, Savaged Illusions, and some of the characters that are in the 'Savaged Illusions Trilogy'.

I really enjoyed this novella. It's a friends-to-lovers story with a lot of heartache, guilty feelings, sexual tension, tragic backgrounds and a growing, loving relationship. Being novella length, the story moves along quickly, establishing a connection between Ethan and Ana right away. Both characters are strong willed and show a lot of growth throughout the story. They both challenge each other which makes for great chemistry between them. I really enjoyed the overall story line.

Ethan is a bodyguard for the rock band Savaged Illusions. The last thing he expected was to run into Ana, the woman he walked away from almost a year ago, at an after party. He's even more shocked when Ana propositions him! One week together, no commitments, just fun and sex. Ethan never thought he was good enough for Ana but if she wants to be bad? He's definitely the one to be bad with.

All Ana wants is a chance to be bad. She's always been the good girl, trying to be perfect for everyone. Well she's tired of being perfect. Ethan may have rejected her once but there's still a connection between them. She's always wanted Ethan and if having a fling with him is the only way she can get him? Well, that's what being bad is all about, right? Have a little fun and live a little.

Such a good story. I really liked the emotional journey both characters go through. You really feel the heartfelt emotions between them. For a novella, you get a well rounded out romance. I really liked it.

What a great Novella. I'm really liking Jennifer's new rock series she is writing. Ethan and Ana story was touching and an emotional. The Bonus scene was HOT. Ethan has a bad past that make him feel unworthy and dirty of Ana. Ana is a good girl that wants to be bad. She's in love with Ethan but Ethan keeps pushing her away. Ana had a scared that makes her seek out Ethan, she wants to feel alive and she silently asking for help from Ethan. It take Ethan awhile to understands his feeling for Ana. There is your drama with a jealous woman and of course let throw in a stalker in there, that Ethan and Ana have to over come for their happy ever after. And boy do they deserve it. Ethan and Ana story was well written, I didn't want it to end.

DNF Chapter 4.

I started to skip and skim by chapter 1. There is something about this book and I don't gel well. It could be the heroine's single minded pursuit of hero, whom kept her at a arm's length because......he loved her too much and he is not good enough for her.....

From my years of being friends with men, "I am not good enough for you." is the excuse guy made up to break up with girls they no longer fancy. If the girl pursuit the guy hard enough, they will just about to sleep with anyone, despite their lack of interest.

I failed to connect with either the hero or Heroine by chapter 4, therefore I am stopping.

It's quite obvious Ana has bad timing on things, well where food and Ethan are concerned anyway, “right now? While I was standing there at the window, trying to keep from ripping off your suit and effing you blind, telling myself to slow down because you haven’t had sex in a couple years and might need a little tenderness… you got hungry?” Did he just growl that last part?" I really loved this book, Ethan was one sexy man.

A second chance romance heavy on the "erotic" and with a touch of suspense, Savaged Surrender was an enjoyable, though not terribly memorable, read. Both Ana and Ethan are likable characters, though his instance that she was to good for him got to be a bit wearying...and then he got over it, fairly abruptly. (So it was kind of yay! but...)

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down once I started it.

This book starts out with Ana giving Ethan a special last night with her before he leaves on his new job. She's trying to make sure he has a reason to come back after going on tour with a band as part of their security team. Tonight she's going to let him know how she truly feels about him.

For Ethan saying good bye to Ana is one of the hardest things he's ever done. He knows he cannot stay and that they could never be together. His past would destroy her once it comes back on him. She was the only light in his life and he wants nothing to dim that light.

The night was perfect. Ana was getting to Ethan and loving the effect it was having on him. In her kitchen, they kissed. It was passionate. It was demanding. It was everything she ever imagined and more. It was...over? Ethan leaves in anger and doesn't look back.

Eleven months later, Ethan steps off the elevator into a VIP party for the band, Savaged Illusions, and his eyes land on Ana. Why is she here in Florida instead of California? He never called. He never texted. Nothing. And yet she's here.

This is a terrific story that pulls you in from the very first page. I've read other novels from Jennifer Lyon and have loved them as well. She definitely does not disappoint his reader. Her writing style keeps the story flowing so well that you don't realize you just stayed up until 3am reading until you hit the last page. I can't wait to read more from this author!!!!

This book is based on two secondary characters, Ethan and Ana, from Jennifer Lyon's Plus One Chronicle. It's also a prelude to her new series Savaged Illusions.

Ethan has a really messed up background thanks to his mother and destroyed his dreams of becoming a professional fighter. He now works security for the rock band Savage Illusions while trying to become a professional chef. He doesn't want a girlfriend or allow people to get to close to his personally because if doesn't want to stain them with his past.

Ana works in a bakery that Ethan's old bosses fiancee owns. She has her own screwed up childhood and believes she just isn't good enough and therefore always has to be perfect, the good girl.

When Ana's friends decide it's time for her to get together with her one true love, Ana fights back and takes control. She's tired of being the good girl and throws herself at the man she wants, Ethan. Poor Ethan doesn't know what to do. He loves her but convinces himself he can't be with her because he's no good, his past will destroy her future. He tries to give her what she wants and plans on walking away but that's hard to do when the woman you love ends up having a stalker after her.

This is diffidently a great beach read, one that once you pick it up you won't want to put it down. I'm so looking forward to reading Jennifer Lyon's next book Savaged Dreams, book 1 of her newest series Savaged Illusions!

I was delighted to receive an ARC from Jennifer for her newest story set in the Plus One Chronicles world! Again Jennifer drags me in to these peoples lives and I feel like I'm peaking into their tangled lives. This one is about Ethan, the guy Sloane rescued and fostered. He screwed up his second change by using steroids and almost died with a heart attack. This is his story of redemption and growing beyond his damaged life.

He and his "friend" Ana, an assistant at Kat's bakery, are more than attracted to each other but Ethan won't act on it. Ana you see is a "good-girl" and too good for the "dirty" Ethan, he thinks. And so progresses their love story. Ana decides to have a "bad-girl" fling and only trusts Ethan to give that fantasy to her. There are major bumps along the way to force them to see their true selves and who they truly love and can trust.

I can't wait for the next installment of this world. We might see her Ana's 2 best friends or maybe the band members that Ethan was security for. Who knows, but it's gonna be good!

This is a sweet and short novella about a good girl wanting to be bad and lose control. I really enjoyed the book because I was able to connect with the main character Anna and how she has never been a priority to anyone so she learns to handle herself. At times I did fine Ethan's character annoying because of the poor way in which he was treating Anna. The book was well written and I enjoyed the style of writing, even though it was my first time reading a book by Jennifer Lyon. The chemistry between Anna and Ethan was sizzling hot ,but I wished there was more intimate scenes between them as the ones that were included felt a bit rushed. There were parts in the book where I felt that the book was being rushed and I personally would have liked to see more of Ethan's dominant side in bed because they speak about in the book but it is never depicted. This was a good read that I was unable to put down and I am looking forward to the Savaged Illusions series.

ARC PROVIDED This was so SWEET, it was really amazing in some ways an fel short in others. So on one hand I liked how Ana was so mature. She knew what she wanted and set out for it. She didn't play like she did then didn't she was direct. Ethan was a little naiive but not annoyingly so. However, I love their romance and loved how fast paced the book was....to a degree....on the other hand much of the book felt rushed. I would have like some of the deleted scenes, like at least one chapter of the time apart, or one look into the plan that was contrived. All in all it was good but left me with the feeling that i missed a good part.

Savaged Surrender is a short and sexy book that's perfect if your looking for a good, quick read. This is my first book by Jennifer Lyon but not my last.

Ethan and Ana were fun to watch as they navigate the waters of friends to lovers. Ethan has a dark past and is understandably guarded. You feel his pain and can't help but want for him to find his happily ever after with Ana. I think Ana is the perfect balm to his heart, and I enjoyed witnessing their journey.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it really packs a punch for being so short. It has a little of everything, it's a slow burn friends to lovers, a friends with benefits that becomes more, it has a sexy bad boy hero and a good girl heroine, both of which have depth and there is character development throughout the story. It was so hard to put down that I just devoured it and now I can't wait for more. I love how it ties in with Ms Lyon's Plus One Chronicles and I hope to read more about the rock band, Savaged Illusions.

That was absolutely wonderful.....short, but wonderful! Ethan and Ana were great to read about... I thought how he left things with his so called bestfriend was sort of cowardice but he redeemed himself. Its always the inner demons that sabotages everything..of course until you pull your head out of your ass!!! Thank goodness these two did just that before they ruined their lives. Exceptional read.

Surprising depth for a novella

I don't often read novellas as I consider them too shallow regarding character development. However, I loved Ms. Lyons' series and wanted to read Ethan and Ana 's story. I was extremely glad I did as the book had great timing with their romantic relationship, good back story on the history of each character, and a satisfying conclusion. The only negative I can see is the sex scenes were definitely a little on the uninspired side.

OMG, that was amazing. Ethan is the perfect redeemed bad boy. Ana is the perfect good girl trying to escape her constraints. I couldn't wait to get back to these characters from The Plus One Chronicles, and this is the perfect link between that series and Ms. Lyon's upcoming Savaged Illusions series. I'm waiting impatiently for the Savaged Illusions books to be out, so I can gobble them up.
