Absolutely incredible!! I am in awe that so much research and so much history is proved about the Bible in this one book alone. I recommend this book for anyone who has questions about the authenticity of the Bible. Not only does this book give us thousands of references but verses from the Bible and logical arguments backing everything up. As I write this review on April 17th at 12:14AM I am a new believer in Christ, I accepted the Lord as my Savior only a few weeks ago and since then I have wanted to do research on the History in the Bible, I want devotionals and to talk to Long time Christians for a better understand of not only Christianity but of God Himself. This book has answered more questions than I could have come up with. Thank you Mr. Campbell.
The most memorable concept for me was when Mr. Campbell highlights how the disciples did not die for a lie. Those who lie tend to act in that manner to prevent punishment, or gain uncouthly.
Charlie Campbell's Scrolls and Stones provides an introduction to ten lines of evidence that can be used to confirm the reliability of the Bible: fulfilled prophecies, archaeological discoveries, consistency, extrabiblical sources, scientific accuracy, manuscript evidence, authors' honesty about sins, persecution of the disciples, the son's view of the Bible, and Christianity's transformative power.
Overall, I thought this was an accessible yet informative introduction to evidence of the Bible's reliability and the field of apologetics. While I do still have questions about certain lines of evidence, I still think it provides a logical, evidence-based case for the Bible's reliability. I would not expect it to convert non-Christians or skeptics in an instant, but I it provides a good starting point for people to further investigate the reliability of the Bible. Fulfilled prophecies, the Bible's internal harmony, and scientific foresight were probably the most convincing pieces of evidence for me; I enjoyed how this book listed some examples of historically verifiable events and scientific facts that the Bible accurately foretells and describes. I would definitely love to look more into the plethora of historical and archaeological evidence this book listed. I have not committed a lot of these events and artifacts to memory, but it is very convenient how he listed all the evidence so that readers can easily research it to see how confirms the Bible. Though brief, it is impressive how well-researched and thorough this book was.
To my Christian brothers and sisters. I want to highly recommend this little book on apologetics to you. Christian Apologetics, the study of the defense of the Christian faith, will intelligently shape and sharpen your faith. It will give you sound reasons to believe in God and His Word, in a world filled with skepticism and doubt. This little book will give you a taste to learn more from more expansive books on the subject. What follows is a list of some of my favorite books on apologetics. 1. Evidence that demands a verdict & A Ready Defense - both by Josh McDowell. 2. The Case for a Creator, the Case for Christ, and the Case for Faith - all 3 by Lee Strobel. 3. The Resaon for God - by Timothy Keller 4. Ready with an Answer - by Weldon & Ankerburg 5. 20 Compelling Evidences that God Exists - by Boa & Bowman I hope and pray that your study of apologetics strengthens your mind and heart for God and your faith in Him!
Little book that packs a punch! A buddy suggested this to me when I had voiced my frustrations about having an intimacy with Christ but not a lot of head knowledge. This has countless facts about the Bible that really head concrete your faith in. Easy to read but a lot to think about making it stout as well. I highly recommend this book.
