Meet the Extrasensory Agents...A team of hot psychics who can solve the coldest of crimes!

Mick Tanner's ability to touch an item and know its entire history made him a hit in the sideshow, but has made personal relationships difficult. The closest one he's ever had is with the uncle who raised him in the carnival. So when members of that community begin to die in mysterious ways, there's nothing he won't do to help.

Chief of Police Lili Bell remembers Mick as a smug pain-in-the-ass, but he's grown up to be a very sexy, fascinating man. And like it or not, she needs his help to figure out the mystery that's plaguing her tiny town. Because this killer has a plan, a motive, and several targets. He's out to right a wrong...no matter how many people he has to kill to do it.

I recently read this and it's awesome! Part of Leslie Kelly's Extrasensory Agents series (previously published under the Leslie Parrish name), it features a hero with psychometric abilities, a police chief heroine, and murders that take place in a carnival. The mystery is a dark one and the relationship between the characters is wonderful. Definitely check out this series if you haven't already!

This is my favorite book of the three.

The writing seems better, the character development and relationships really work. And the main couple just worked.

I've read books about characters who have to wear gloves because touching things hurts them before, but this is the first time the love interest actually meets him halfway.

The author note at the end was a let down, I was holding out hope that J and M would end up together, maybe he'd possess a body about to die similar to what happens in Ghost Whisperer, or maybe he'd be able to actually touch her one day, or she dies and becomes a ghost with him. But nope, this book starts setting up they're inevitable goodbye.

So far each books killers have been pretty similar. Abusive childhood, driven by revenge. Like book 2's killer this one also heard a voice in his head. Hopefully the next killer will be different, or if not at least a girl to change things up.

What a great surprise! I love this series and thought the author was not writing anymore after the release of book 2 years ago, imagine my surprise when I find out she released this one recently under a different name. Apparently she had some trouble with publishers and getting the the rights back...glad it happened. This is a wonderful Psi/Contemporary/Suspense Romance with wonderful characters and full well thought out story line. The mystery/suspense is just right for the length of the book and to keep all the hard core romance readers on board but not lose the suspense lovers either.

This is a great summer read and a must for your beach vacation...tip a margarita and venture into the world of the Extrasensory Agents! 4 stars!

Cold Memory is part of the Extrasensory Agents series, the previous two published a while back by Signet Eclipse under the name Leslie Parrish. That series didn’t do well enough for that publisher to retain the series in its catalogue, so it took awhile for this one to come out. This one and the previous books in the series are currently issued by the author herself under the Leslie A Kelly name.

This one takes place amidst a carnival background – just my kind of thing. Gypsy Rose Bell comes from a carnie family – which explains her name – and she’s now the Chief of Police of Ocean Whispers, a town in Florida. Recently her grandfather Franklin Bell obtained a piece of land for cheap, which he then used to establish the D’Onofrio Brothers Winter Carnival. This is a carnival staffed by carnie folks in their golden years, and Gypsy is glad because her grandfather’s health isn’t the best these days. The Winter Carnival is also becoming a popular tourist draw. And then, it happens – one of the Winter Carnival folks is brutally murdered.

In addition to having to solve the murder, Gypsy is also worried because there has always been resistance from certain quarters against the existence of the Winter Carnival, and the last she needs is to be caught in between a political turf war. She decides to approach our hero, Mick Tanner, whom she knows from way back. Mick has a carnie background too – his uncle, who eventually became his legal guardian after a bitter custody battle, is a carnie, and Mick spent some time doing carnie stuff too with his gifts. Oh yes, his gift. He is an extrasensory agent, after all, although he’s not sure whether he’d call his ability a “gift”.

You see, Mick can touch things and deduce things about it – the thoughts and feelings of people who had touched it prior to him, that kind of thing. His grandfather did some heinous things to him as a means to exorcise what the man considered evil from the boy, and now, even though he’s somewhat well adjusted in the company of folks who are blessed – or cursed – like him, he has problems establishing relationships with other people. Think about it: do you want your lover to be able to touch your dress or your hairbrush and immediately know everything – and I do mean everything – about you? Even if you do, he may not want to, and some of the things he learns about you may make the relationship awkward. That’s the problem Mick faces.

Mind you, I immediately come across a halfway-workable solution to his dilemma, and it’s one that Gypsy eventually puts into practice for the happy ending, so I’m not sure why he’s making such a big fuss. Especially since he’s loaded enough to make it happen. And I say “halfway” because I’m not sure how his gift really works, so there may be a possibility that this solution is only a band aid measure. Of course, he could always keep his gloves on at all times, so at the end of the day, this dilemma is not as bad as it could have been. Not ideal, yes, but not impossible either.

At any rate, I bring this romance thing up first just to get it out of the way. It’s the least interesting aspect of Cold Memory, I’m afraid, not because it is badly written but because it is completely overshadowed by the more interesting mystery and suspense arc. I find myself fidgeting impatiently each time Mick and Gypsy go all dopey and mournful about feelings, wondering when the author would go back to the suspense because I can’t wait to find out what will happen next.

Indeed, while the author may be better known for her sexy category romances, I wonder whether she’s actually a sleeper suspense author in the making. Her romantic suspenses have all been hits for me, and this one is no different. The author seems to have no problems getting me hooked into the story from page one, and I am at the edge of my seat most of the time. My rear end inches back from the edge during the lovey-dovey moments, but the suspense part is top notch. It doesn’t help that the author has no compunctions in not giving her secondary characters plot armor – seriously, I could have given the author the most evil of all evil eyes for what she did to THAT POOR GIRL – making the suspense all the most suspenseful and even terrifying to follow. The violence here is toned down compared to the author’s earlier Leslie Parrish books, but that is due more to the fewer body counts in this one. How the victims die isn’t pretty or tame, let’s just say.

There are times when I wonder whether the Extrasensory Agents aren’t a bit too overpowered for their own good, as there is no real reason why their powers combined can’t solve the mystery within one chapter. Still, it is a testament to the author’s ability that I rarely pause to spot for contrivances in this one. Even when I feel that the story loses a bit of steam towards the end – the revelation of the killer is revealed when people finally begin to talk, not due to any successful procedural investigations by our leads – the confrontation with the villain has a bittersweet edge to it. It’s hard to forgive that person’s sins, but at the same time, the person is not exactly up there in the head and it is also easy to see why this person goes on to kill those people.

The author’s afterword is a nice addition – it explains why she did what she did in the story, and while I don’t agree with every decision she took, I can see where she is coming from and hence I can’t help softening a bit about this one. Hmm, that’s actually quite sneaky on the author’s part.

Anyway, while the romance could have been a bit more interesting, this one is still a very solid entry into the Extrasensory Agents series. I can’t stop reading this one in a single sitting; I downloaded it onto my phone when I had to go out, so that I could read along the journey – that’s how this book got to me. And it got to me good, very good indeed.

3.25 Stars...I did like books 1 and 2 that I read forever ago. This was just slow moving for me. Not bad. Just slow. Liked Mick and Gypsy just fine, but really more interested in Julia and Morgan...maybe an upcoming book in the series for them? Anyway...not a bad read within the series, but not the most compelling, either.

I really liked Gypsy and Mick and the development of their relationship, quick though it was, but parts of the mystery plot felt contrived and/or forced.

A huge tip of the hat to Ms. Kelly for naming a character Gypsy and explaining in text and in character why the name is offensive.

I've loved Leslie Kelly's books since I first discovered her writing. I adore her sexy romances, but truly believe she found her voice when she started writing her darker paranormal romance/romantic suspense books. Seriously her Black CATs and Extrasensory Agents books keep me on the edge of my seat while reading and even awake at night as I don't want to stop reading until I know everything that has happened. Cold Memory is absolutely another winner in the Extrasensory Agents series.

First let me just say finding out Mick's history with his grandfather had me crying like a freaking baby. It's not very often I want to throat-punch a character, but I wanted to throat-punch his grandfather. His abuse of an innocent child had me ready to kill a fictional character, and I can only remember that happening with one character before in another series.

I love that Mick and Gypsy had known each other as kids. No they really weren't friends growing up, but because they had both been around the carnival, they understood the lifestyle and how to work to solve the mystery before someone they both love is a victim. I liked that Gypsy and Mick both gave each other crap from childhood even as adults. However, I absolutely loved how Gypsy went out of her way to be in Mick's environment without causing him issues later. Mick's touch ability has always kept him from letting too many people into his home and his life. I loved that Gypsy thought of ways to keep Mick's home safe from her presences as much as possible. I absolutely loved seeing Mick and Gypsy grow closer and finally act on the attraction that had been building between them from the moment they saw each other again.

I'm usually pretty good about figuring out the who-done-it in a romantic suspense. I will say I figured out the why long before I figured out the who. With each new murder it was easier and easier to see a connection between the characters. I was very surprised with the death of a character that had nothing to do with the other murders occurred. I understood it needed to happen, but I had really come to like this character, so it broke my heart to witness that death.

Ms. Kelly kept me on the edge of my seat pretty much from the start of Cold Memory. It had all the elements of a great romance, with the addition of paranormal elements and suspense, which I absolutely adore. I'm so glad to see we will get more books in the Extrasensory Agents series in the future and am still hoping for one particular character's story. I highly recommend Cold Memory to all readers who love romances with strong paranormal and suspenseful elements.

Holy crap. Book 3 is everything I thought it could be, and after I finished reading it I realized the author exceeded my expectations. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am a huge fan of this series. I don’t know if it’s popped up on anyone else’s radar or if you’re on the fence, but I would never squee like a fangirl if I weren’t 100% certain you would walk away disappointed. I would also like to point out that I also put my money where my big fingers are. I bought all three books in ebook and I have the original two books in print. That’s how serious I am. To put it bluntly, this book is fucking amazing. It was well worth the wait.

Mick Tanner has the ability to touch items and know everything and everyone who has ever touched it – who they are and what they’re thinking. It makes for a lonely life. Imagine being intimate with someone and touching their sheets and knowing every single thought in their head. I mean, we women have secrets and it doesn’t make for lasting relationships. Mick lost his parents in a fire at the age of five, and around that time is when he developed his abilities. His parents’ wishes were that he would live with his uncle and never be raised by his grandfather. Because his family has a lot of money and power, his grandfather unfortunately got custody and did some really shitty things to him. Uncle Shane finally got him back and Mick lived with him and his partner on the carnival circuit. While Mick has some scars physically and mentally, he also has the love of his uncle and the carnies.

Gypsy Rose Bell … I have to put this out here. I love her name. Aside from that, I love her as a character. She will forever live on my top ten best female character in a book or movie. Gypsy grew up in the carnival; her mother performed there and her grandfather ran things. She was older than the other kids and, of course, she would bully them around. Mick, aka Dumbo, and Gypsy kinda formed a truce early on when he used his gifts to get her secrets to keep her off his back, but also they formed a friendship. It’s been 20 years since they have seen each other. She’s all grown up and is Chief of Police of Ocean Whispers, Florida where the carnival has been for several years. It just so happens that Mick Tanner has leased the property to Gypsy’s grandfather to keep them stationary in their old age. Unfortunately, there is a murder and Gypsy needs Mick Tanner’s help.

Paranormal is generally not my favorite genre but this series is the exception. I read Cold Touch and Cold Sight when they came out and loved them. I knew there needed to be more books in the series. It has been a long wait and I'm glad it's over. Micks story is great and a good addition to the series. I hope the author continues this series. I will definitely buy them.

Another Stunner!

In the interest of full disclosure, I must confess that the carnival environment made me uncomfortable in some undefined way. Also, I didn't like Gypsy's name at all. now to get to the good part. The writing is brilliantly executed. I don't know any other writer who could have portrayed the way Mick experienced touch both physically and emotionally. And how he finally managed to blend with a woman. I can't wait for the next book. And the next one. And the next one. And the . . . . .

Fabulous book, just like the first two.

I didn't realize until the end of this book that the series had started so many years ago and had just recently had the first two books re-released. And that this book was new, and so far there is no more written. I am really hoping that she will be able to finish the series soon because I want to know what happens to the other people who work there.

Awww. The end just makes you go gooey

No spoilers, I swear. Just read this book. It’s great. And I love carney stories even though I despise carnivals as a general rule. This one was fantastic. Well done, author, and well done on research too. Appreciate accuracy.

Lots of intrigue

This is the third book in a series by Leslie A. Kelly. It can be read as a stand alone, but some of the characters are explained more if you have read the first two books. Mick Tanner is the main player of this story. He is approached by a childhood "frenemy" when a murder happens at a carnival where he was raised. He has special abilities that Gypsy, the "frenemy", now local cop, is hoping will help them to solve the case. I liked the story and all the intrigue that went with it. For some reason, though, I had a harder time believing Mick's abilities, so I didn't really connect with his character. I did enjoy the story and look forward to the next book in the series.

I have really liked this series and would like to see more stories. Mick lost his parents at a young age and would have been raised by a monster if not for his loving uncle. Not that Mick's grandfather didn't try to stop his uncle from getting him. And he kept trying over the years to get Mick and his fortune back. The only thing the old man cared about was money. Mick was raised in a large, loving carnival family. On of the people in that family was a bossy little girl named Gypsy Rose. Now Gypsy is a cop and needs help from Mick. Someone is killing off their family and she needs Mick's special talent to help her figure out who and why. They find so much more than the killer.

Leslie has captured my attention with her Extrasensory Agents Series. I've now read the first 3 BOOKS in this Series & will be beginning COLD IMAGE tomorrow.

Each of the members of this Extrasensory Team have a special ability and Mick's is by touching. He's able to visualize what happened to the person(s) who was(were) killed.

It was a page turner, to see what would happen next in his life, in solving the crime.

I'll be starting COLD IMAGE tomorrow, to see what horrors Derek will need to endure, by reliving the deaths of people that are intertwined within the book.

It's a definite read for anyone looking for something than the usual ho-hum romantic novel.

Michael Tanner lost his parents in a fire when he was 5. What happened after changed his life forever. Now murder has come to his carnival family. Chief Gypsy Bell is determined to make sure her grandfather's carnival remains open now with this murder she seeks Mick's help. These two have to solve this case soon but also can they each be what the other needs in their life.

Another decent storyline and strong characters but the relationship between Gypsy Rose and Mick bumps this up to a 3.5 star for me (although I'm still only calling it a 3 for this review). The relationship, perhaps because of the history between the two characters, seems that bit more real and believable than the previous two installments.

Loving the series
The characters are all so fascinating in this series and the romance is just wonderful not because of romance itself but because we want the main character to find someone he can be himself with. Lot of drama and nasty villains and a page turner from start to finish. Moving on to the next one.

Wow, this is another great dark suspense story that captured my heart.
The suspense is lingering in the background until the very end.
This story about Mick an Lily Bell is happening on the fair ground. People are being murdered but why? Read this book it will keep you entertained until the very last page. I highly recommend
