How Angela Waters got to be one of the high priestesses of the Modern Quilt movement, a published author, and a famous quilter. Yeah, you non-quilters may scoff, but in the quilt world, she's a rock star.
I like the story of how she got started, and grew her career from nothing, based on her husband's Grandpa teaching her how to quilt, and encouraging her early efforts. She reminds US to encourage new quilters, rather than telling them everything they did wrong.
Beautiful pictures of her quilting, with discussion of how she made her design choices, and techniques used.
I really enjoyed Angela’s picture book and learning about her journey into quilting. My favorite element is the book was the close-up pictures which show all the different quilting designs in great detail. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for inspiration for machine quilting. The colors are wonderful. Her collaborations with other designers and quilters makes for gorgeous finished quilts.
This is mostly a picture book of Angela Walter's machine quilting with many close-ups of the quilts she chose to share, but her quilting is both beautiful and interesting. She also shares a few essays of her entry into the quilting world and her quilting style.
I'm a confident beginner quilter, and Angela Walters is who I want to emulate when it comes to adding another layer of design to a quilt. Her projects in collaboration with Tula Pink are jaw-droppingly beautiful. Flip through this book if you're in a creative rut.
Beautifully written, a narrative of her love of hand quilting with examples of her work nicely lit and well photographed to show the work. Really does show that the quilting is as important an aspect of the quilt as color, design and piecing. Well done.
The story of Angela Walters journey and her thinking process as she decides on a quilting pattern is an entertaining and inspirational read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love hearing about how a quilter got started and the steps along the way to where they are now. Angela Walters has a fantastic story to tell and I loved it!
I've gotten Walter's newsletters for a while and admired her machine quilting. This book demonstrates just how talented she is at designing and doing the sewing that goes on top of pieced quilt tops. Lovely pictures, including details, and words that encourage others to see if "quilting can be their [play] therapy" too. Important to note that she first began by stitching thirty quilt tops--that is a lot of practice/learning!
Beautiful pictures of quilts with short descriptions and a little bit of information about the quilter. Not a how to book only a brief introduction to Angela Waters work. Lots of close up photographs.
