LOG: The Legends of Genesis: Not Your Ordinary Heroes

Rate this book
The Legends of Genesis (Asian, African, and World mythology) (fantasy, super power, anime, super hero, wuxia, martial arts, philosophy, historical, romance, action, adventure, sci-fi, prehistoric)
Imagine a world where people don't age past their prime. Where a person that would labeled as intellectually gifted on Earth is nothing more than average there. A place where the average person is even more powerful than your typical super hero. A place several times more vast and mysterious than earth . and home to over 50 non hybrid races. Just Imagine how far they would have advanced in the time that we have had. Then imagine how far they would have advanced given 10, 100, or even 1000 times longer than we had. Do you imagine large skyscrapers and flying cars as in your common sci fi flicks and novels. Well, they've advanced far past that even. What would their super heroes be like, and the villains that they have to combine forces to fight against. And how would the planet survive the battles between these people. Not to mention what would every day life be like? And with their powers would they feel as gods themselves and not have need to reverence them?
In fact the heroes held a contest and after beating many Shenxian, kami, Orishas, and Immortals they believed they were indeed powerful enough to at least compete with the gods. They challenged the supreme gods and the realm gods. After loosing horribly they incurred the supreme goddess' wrath as punishment. However she was not satisfied with just punishing them, as she wanted to destroy them completely. However the supreme god felt that their punishment was enough and that they should be forgiven. Unable to agree they decided to settle it the way gods do. They made bet which would decide whether they would perish or thrive. Six beings would be created, beings much more powerful than any that have ever been created. Two beings would be of light, two would be of darkness, and two neutral ones that would pick a side. The gods would set up challenges for them along the way to train them until the day of the final contest. When that day comes they would fight each other to the death and if light won they would be saved, however if dark won they would all die. Which one would prevail light or darkness? Sounds like your typical fantasy novel right? However what if when they are born they decide not to be pawns in the god's game? Can and will they defy their destiny even when all their moves are being controlled leading them to that end? And if they do defy the gods what will be the retribution for their actions,... and more importantly how will they respond to it?
This story follows the lives of the 6 beings.
The children of Darkness

Titan- (master of dimensions, souls, energy, and matter/anti matter)
Nina- (Master of psyche, various elements and forces, space, and the dead)
The children of Light

Emerald- (elemental master, spirit and sentient, energy, matter and fusion)
Sapphire (Master of copying and reversing, Time, and various elements)

The neutral children

Rage (master of reality, mystic, and various elements.)
Dragon (master of magic, various elements, and death)
This story has hundreds of characters all with their own goals and interest. Full of unexpected plot twists and turns that will keep you guessing at each turn of the page. Volume 1 deals with the introduction of the main characters but is by no means slow paced. It pulls you right into the ever evolving and expanding world. Filled with action, romance, comedy, and philosophy that will have you rethink everything. This is anything but ordinary, and one thing to keep in mind is that nothing is as it seems. Are you ready for an emotional roller coaster, that is not only entertaining but will give you something to think about long after you put the book down.

I have a feelings this will be the #1 series in the world soon. This is amazing, I have never read anything like this before. This can't be defined by one genre or even culture. The author is a genius in every aspect of the word. I was so surprised when I started reading this. This has a different format than anything I am used to, but after a while you are sucked into it like a movie. AMAZING!!! I only wish I had caught this series when it was almost over. It is just the first of what seems over 10 books. Not to mention, this one has just been released, so I don't expect the next one to be coming out anytime soon. By the way this is very very very long. This book introduced main characters and you get a feel for their power. Like the titles suggest, They are "NOT your ordinary heroes", by any means. ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!
By the way thanks for the Japanese words and characters. It's unfortunate that many series do not have them, even if they're from japan.

Author listens to reviews!!! I made some comments a month ago and has addressed many of my concerns!!! Also I saw this book on booksie as well.
https://www.booksie.com/485281-the-le...

However I reccommend you buy the paperback on amazon. You will get the kindle version for free, when you do that. It is much better formatted on there. This is an edited review of my old one for his first edition. This seems to be the same book but another edition.
Cons

1) Too many commas
2) Kind of condescending
3) Dictionary could be more comprehensive
4) Probably should include a pronunciation guide for the fantasy language
5) Writing style changes slightly at times, but it's not a big deal

0) Makes it hard to go back to reading other super hero books. Raises the bar to unprecedented and unattainable heights!!! Everything else in comparison seems sub par. Super Impressive!!!
0) So Hard to wait for second volume!!! i mean seriously, I really can't wait to read it. It makes you want so much more, and it is a very long book in itself.

Pros
Wow where to start

1) It's like watching a movie or play. But its much better!!!
2) Very large cast of realistic characters and ethnic characters
3) Concept art for the characters and colored art is amazing (kindle version's art looks better)
4) 20X better than edition 1.
5) Races and cultures are based on real world cultures
6) Does not take place on earth
7) A perfect mix of prehistoric and modern, which creates the ultimate fantasy
8) Seems like a cross of Chinese Wuxia and Japanese action anime
9) You can really learn a lot in this book
10) Uses real world languages for the fantasy languages. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Ebonics, and Ancient Egyptian.
11) Interracial relationships, and seamlessly blends Asian and African culture. Didn't realize how similar it was until now.
12) Will be released into comic and light novel ( more art) format in future
13) Very unique plot, and full of plot twist
14) You don't know who to root for, excellent introduction to characters
15) First of a series, but full of action
16) Seems as the author has done its research
17) Creative, Innovative, Magical, Powerful, Amazing, Sensual, Hilarious, Inspirational
18) ETHNIC!!! I must say it again, it has characters from all over the globe. Which is great for diversity and self esteem. Which I regret to say is often not found in anime.
19) Speaks the truth, albeit a little harshly
20) Very powerful characters, but unlike shows like superman and hulk, the opponents hit back, gives a sense of danger, and makes the fights more strategical
21) Uses actual martial art styles and techniques
22) Charts of powers and explanation of abilities
23) Uses real gods and folklore. Monkey King, Amaterasu, Dracula, Zues, Ra, etc.

This is AMAZING book! It combines so many themes at the same time perfectly. It is an incredible read even for people that's not a fan of the genre. If you like super heroes, martial arts, Asian mythology and culture, or African mythology and culture. This is a MUST BUY! The paperback is much better than the kindle. As the kindle seems to cut off a few words, and there is a certain thing about having a physical copy. I will have to say again this book is NOT for little kids. Best for teens and adults. Once again Amazing! Would give more stars if possible.

I will post a few reviews I have seen on booksie and amazon here

Hi

I have never read any sort of anime type thing before so this was a first for me. I found it quite long , and as a reader I prefer short punchy chapters to keep me engaged. The characters seem really well written and the story line is well thought out. Over all (being a anime novice) Id say its very good, I just personally found it difficult to follow as this is not my genre.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of much more use to you :) I wish you well on all your writing endeavours :)

Hei, I have to say that I really like your story! The storyline is easy to follow and the narration itself is engaging and well written.
I am really happy to see phrases in Japanese, Korean and Chinese as well, for the original dialog. Impressive!
Happy writing!

Dear Mr. long,

I really like your story. The way you described everything made like an entire movie in my head of what happened. I think you should keep writing because I would love to read more of your stories! I love anime, fantasy and every kind of storie genres'. They excite me very well. I might not be the best story writer I the world, but I am trying my best to to be a good story writer. My stories usually are for fan girl of music like readerxJ-Hope etc. Also my English is not that well, because of whom I am. But yeah! Ttyl! -

This is an amazing work of art you have made. The characters are vibrant and different. Not to mention the plot. Although, I do feel like it would be much better in normal light novel form. Also, excuse me if I seem offensive, the way you use Japanese and Korean seems a bit weeaboo- like.

Ye Hun

I'm very impressed! You really have an eye for detail, and have great persistence as a writer. There are certainly some things I can learn from you. Keep it up alright. There was only so much I could get through here in one sitting, but hopefully you can understand. I love to write about anime aswell.

INNOVATIVE, ORIGINAL, AND MIND BLOWING
This is the same book named volume 1, but it seems to be updated. formatted, and improved. I have no issues with this book at all. In fact it is amazing!!!
The story was very original and used real mythology. The themes and world are structured perfectly. It's an amazing blend of different cultures. There are six main characters, but there are times where the story centers on side or support characters. It even talks about their parents, and gives a good idea of how the future fights will be. They "may" not be planet busters, but I'd put my money on these guys to win a fight against any hero. There is a lot of strategy used in the fights, and uses concepts that are both new and old. This isn't following the trend, but setting a new one. The bar raises on this one, and it'll take a while for others to catch up.
I have to say the use of Japanese characters, language, and gods are especially pleasing to me. I don't think this author speaks Japanese fluently, but he's certainly not a beginner. Love the characters and style. CANT WAIT FOR THE MANGA ADAPTION!
One more plus that you never see. The writer and the illustrator are one and the same!!! So I am very interested in seeing the world.
Once I got the paperback I couldn't stop reading it, only took a few breaks to eat and sleep. MUST READ for any fan of Japanese anime, whether shounen or shoujo.
More to come for sure. The book has been updated with power and race charts and even a cast list!!!
Wow these characters are so powerful, I cant wait to read more.
