Cannot be read as a standalone

Gilded Inferno was more enjoyable than Midnight Divine, but I still had issues with the main character. Ivy was disrespectful, stubborn, and selfish.

description

Besides her personality, I did like the story of her trying to save Solas. Although... it was annoying how she was able to make certain situations worse.

Roeseler hits like a ninja!

WTAF? Just OMFG! I added Roeseler to my one-click list after her debut, Midnight Divine. This follow up affirmed that decision with a bang!

Can we say twists galore? Roeseler weaves religious beliefs and religious lore into a fiction that has you looking at those around you for signs of what's going on underneath the veil.

The action leaps off the page and keeps you just as breathless as the decisions you're on the edge of your seat waiting for Ivy to make.

Roeseler doesn't take it easy on you....You won't know what's coming until it hits full force and you'll love every minute of it.

I recommend this read to any fan of action and love, whether they are regular paranormal fans or not. (case in point me) And if you pay close attention you might catch a glimpse of something inside Gilded Inferno that has me wondering...could there be a cross over in the future?

4.5/5☆

*I recieved this a review copy in exchange for an honest review.*

Second books in trilogies are sometimes hit or miss for me. If not done correctly, they just act as a bridge between the first and second, and aren't really necessary. But this isn't the case for Guilded Inferno.

I think this is a step up from book one, as we are really understanding Ivy more. She is finally accepting herself, yet still getting herself in trouble. I think she is a great lead.

I really love the pull of light and dark, and the questioning of which side to choose. Valerie Roeseler's writing is really fantastic. She steers you through this world, and really makes you feel like it is real. This was another long book, that I devoured and couldn't put down.

I was disappointed to see Ivy give up her music, and her wish to go to college, to commit to the idea of ‘fight the good fight’. Most teenagers would not believe what she is being asked to do and would not be diverted so easily. Her affections are stretched, by feuding contenders for her heart, leaving her with little time to think. The rest of her is ripped to threads, quite literally. Even her moments of relaxation are painted as stress. This a very good second book from a new author. Compelling reading.

***ARC REVIEW***
When I find a book I enjoy, no, love, being Midnight Divine, it is really intimidating to read the sequel.
Will it be as good? Will it suffer as so many do, being the same story just in a different setting.
Well, I had no reason to worry.
Ivy IS BACK. Still takin names and kickin all kinds of ass. Can you tell I love her?
Valerie takes her readers once again through a roller-coaster journey. Ivys battle is much more personal than last time around, and here she begins to learn what it means to be her and finding her place in this huge, expanding world.
Valerie has the uncanny ability to make what could be absurd into absolute truth. Angels flying around? You WILL believe it.
The Underworld breaking apart and its minions spilling out into our world? You WILL hitch your blanket up a little higher.
Ivy is torn between her love and loyalty to two men and even though I'm firmly in team Solas' camp, even I can see the choice is the hardest she will ever make.
Ivys friends and family are there for her, compounding her guilt as she doesnt want anyone dying for her. So she drifts away.
The book escalates brilliantly as the end battle looms. You know it's coming. Valerie knows its coming. Hell Ivy knows. What no one knows...is who will win.
An absolute 5 star read

What an action packed second book. I loved it.
Ivy and Jack's fight against evil, has taken them to other realms where they've met, and sometimes conquered, creatures of myth and legend. Nothing comes easy...including the love between Ivy and Jack...as Solas has entered the equation and a love triangle has caused havoc on everyone's capability to function. Can't wait for Book 3 now!!! #TeamSolas

I can't say it enough. This series is amazing. It is an epic battle of light and darkness. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I need to know who Ivy chooses. Jack or Solas. Does she defeat the darkness. What a page turner.

Ivy is finally accepting her true nature and in fighting for her independence, gets herself into more trouble because she feels guilty and wants to rescue Solas. Will Jack come to her rescue? I did not see the twist coming. Highly recommend this series.

Gided Inferno is book 2 in the midnight series. I felt that the writing and the story in book 2 flowed better then book 1 did. An extremely good read!!

I was so surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. The characters are well developed and the storyline has plenty of action, drama, angst and a curve ball. You won't want to put it down.

Ivy Harris has gotten herself into quite a sticky situation. She's trying to balance good and evil in both her love life and in the world. Her fate is a heavy burden on her shoulders and she must decide what to do with the upcoming war. Who does she love more? The Fallen Angel who knows her better than anyone else? Or the light in the darkness with an undeniable connection? When it comes to war, who can she trust? Is there a grey area, or does everything have to be black and white?

OMG where do I start? Well if you haven't read book 1, GO NOW AND READ IT! THEN READ THIS ONE! This is what a fantastic author looks like. I can't even believe that this series can get better. But it did! Just when I thought I had the book figured out BAM the author throws a curve ball. I went though every emotion reading this book! Parts had me laughing out loud ( which got me crazy looks from my boyfriend lol ) crying at something that happened and Yelling at the characters to watch out!
I don't want to give any spoilers, but it's safe to say if you liked Book 1 then you will for sure love book 2. I think anyone into PNR and A kick butt, take no crap, will beat you down type of main character then this is the book for you. I can't even tell you how good this book is!!! Angels, Demons, Good & Evil what more do you want from a book! Ivy Harris is my HERO! I want to be her when I grow up! #TeamIvy #StillTeamSolas #StopPlayingWithMyHeart #IvyAndSolasForever #PleaseValerie

Valerie has done it again!!! With Ivy Harris and her rough and tumble ways the world of Angels will never again be the same. Ivy Harris has had a lot to overcome and learn in a short amount of time, but when some one she holds dear leaves with out goodbye all caution is thrown to the wind until Ivy can find them.

Gilded Inferno will take you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions and is sure to have you flipping the pages until the end. It is full of adventure and action with all the ties to your heart strings.

I loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal books.

Just as amazing as book 1! This is book two in the Helio Trilogy and needs to be read in order. This book picks up shortly after book 1 ends and continues the story of Ivy and her friends and family. The light and dark continue to battle. The action, suspense jumps off the pages and engulfs you holding you hostage while you laugh, cry, yell at the characters. As I read this series I find myself invested in these characters and wanting more. This series is a must read!
