Dima Zales is a full-time science fiction and fantasy author residing in Palm Coast, Florida. Prior to becoming a writer, he worked in the software development industry in New York as both a programmer and an executive. From high-frequency trading software for big banks to mobile apps for popular magazines, Dima has done it all. In 2013, he left the software industry in order to concentrate on his writing career.

Dima holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from NYU and a dual undergraduate degree in Computer Science / Psychology from Brooklyn College. He also has a number of hobbies and interests, the most unusual of which might be professional-level mentalism. He simulates mind-reading on stage and close-up, and has done shows for corporations, wealthy individuals, and friends.

He is also into healthy eating and fitness, so he should live long enough to finish all the book projects he starts. In fact, he very much hopes to catch the technological advancements that might let him live forever (biologically or otherwise). Aside from that, he also enjoys learning about current and future technologies that might enhance our lives, including artificial intelligence, biofeedback, brain-to-computer interfaces, and brain-enhancing implants.

In addition to his own works, Dima has collaborated on a number of romance novels with his wife, Anna Zaires. The Krinar Chronicles, an erotic science fiction series, has been a bestseller in its categories and has been recognized by the likes of Marie Claire and Woman’s Day. If you like erotic romance with a unique plot, please feel free to check it out, especially since the first book in the series (Close Liaisons) is available for free everywhere. Keep in mind, though, Dima Zales's books are going to be much more PG 13 . . . at least that’s the plan for now.

Anna Zaires is the love of his life and a huge inspiration in every aspect of his writing. She definitely adds her magic touch to anything Dima creates, and the books would not be the same without her. Dima’s fans are strongly encouraged to learn more about Anna and her work at http://www.annazaires.com/

Book received from NetGalley.

This was an okay book. I liked some of the stories better than others, the ones by Pippa DeCosta and Laxmi Hariharan. They're the reason I gave it 3 stars. Others just weren't my thing, like the first story in the set by Dima Zales. The others were enjoyable but didn't really stick out as memorable. It's a good escapist read, with some stories that were pretty original considering the genre of the collection.

Absolutely loving it, these are great starter books used in this collection. There was some small typos and grammar issues but so far they have all been good reads. I now have new authors to look into. This box set is very enjoyable and worth reading. I was giving an e-copy from City Owl Press and gave my voluntary review

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is an anthology of some first books in several series as well as stand alone books. If nothing else this is a bargain compared to the combined price of the books.

The Thought Readers by Dima Zales
Darren has a unique ability - he can go into his own personal version of reality into something he calls "the quiet" and he can then explore his surroundings while everyone else stays still. He thought he was unique until he sees another person - a girl. This how he learns that he is a Reader and is not as unique as he thought.

I loved this story. It had lots of action and drama. Everything was written well and when it ended I just needed to know what happens next.

Vengeance Be Mine by Louisa Lo
Megan Aequitas is the first ever hybrid between a vengeance demon and a trickster. She is trying really hard to keep her trickster half under control and concentrate on the co-op program she is doing at the University of Demonic Studies. She finds a plot to unleash a very fundementaist force that means that most creatures would be deemed too unworldly to exist. Can she balance her sides well enough to save everyone?

I quite liked this story but it got a bit manic and weird in places.

Secrets of the Hollows by Nicole Morgan
Xavier Currington is the leader of the Hollows and lurks in Los Angeles' crime riddled streets. Elizabeth Hawthorn has escaped the life of her abusive step-father and is working as a waitress while living in a dive of a motel. Xavier sees Elizabeth and is drawn by her beauty and innocence. Can he save them both from danger from different directions and can they have a chance at happiness?

I loved this story. It was a little slow to start as it explained the background but it was then an enchanting mix of love against the odds, demons and bad people who needed to be stopped.

Discern by Andrea Pearson
There is to be a university-led expedition and there is a competition among the undergraduates to be involved. Austin is talented and seems the obvious choice, but there is also Nicole. She struggles to control her magic and needs advice and encouragement from her friends and professors. Who will win the competition to be included and will this trip of a lifetime be their last?

This story was fast paced and had lots of action, adventure and magic. Oh there may be some romance in it too. This is the first book in a series and you may well want to read the rest after finish this one - I certainly did.

Wings of Hope by Pippa DaCosta
Mammon is the Prince of Gree and has the services of a half-human, half-demon called Muse for three nights from her ruthless owner Da'mean. During that three night period Mammon gives Muse hope for freedom in her soul and although demons are harsh a violent Muse has a more formidable weapon - humanity.

I didn't enjoy this as much as the ones up to now and I'm not sure why. The writing was good and I understood what was occurring it just didn't gel with me.

Angel Vindicated by Viola Estrella
Abigail is a Demon Control Agent is tainted by thing she had with half-breed demon Simeon Keller five years ago. She has avoided him ever since but the stain of it is still on her character. A demon rebellion is threatening the existence of Angels and she is forced to trust him to help her stop it.

This was a nice story which had drama and a bit of romance. I felt so sorry for Simeon at times.

Feral by Laxmi Hariharan
Maya feels that she doesn't fit even though she loves Luke she needs to go and find out about her roots so she can be happy with him. She travels into the city and gets a job while investigating her birth family. Will she meet someone else or will she find herself and come home to Luke?

I really enjoyed this story. The situations and emotions were well described and done with enough detail and gravitas

Tutoring the Wolf by Jacqueline Sweet & Devon March
Cassie Blake is studying at the Penrose Academy of Magical Excellence and just has to keep her grades up and she can then have her dreams come true upon graduation (including marrying her handsome and successful fiance). However she is forced to be a tutor to werewolf Malcolm Sheppard who would rather live like a rock star than study. Even worse is how he looks at her and the effect that has on her.

This was a lovely story and I really liked the ending.

Wolves: I Bring the Fire Part 1 by C. Gockel
Amy Lewis is travelling to her grandma's house but is being chased by something bad. Loki is in a prison cell but has no idea what he did that was wrong. Amy and Loki need to join forces to outwit those that would stop them. Loki is also trying to remember something but can't quite get it (but knows it is important).

I didn't enjoy this very much - it was a bit too chaotic for my tastes. It was well written just not in a style that I enjoyed.

Soul Ties by LJ Swallow
Ava retrieves souls from demons and this should be just like the others. However Kier is a Nephilim (half angel half demon) and very good looking. A human called Dahlia also has a strange hold over him so Ava needs to get to the bottom of that. Having discovered what happens to the returned souls Ava finds herself in the middle of a battle between good and evil (with lots of blurred lines). What will she choose (and bare the consequences) - betray Kier or join him in the fight?

I liked this story - it had lots of drama and excitement as well as mystery and romance added in.

Romancing the Null by Tina Gower
Kate Hale is fateless so statistics are her profession. She has finally made it to the Accidental Death Predictions Department but an oracle has delivered a death prediction and insisted she help him to solve it. Latent werewolf Ian Becker is the police liaison assigned to her department and is Kate's only hope. However he is a loner with a dodgy past. If Kate can't solve this before it is predicted to occur she'll lose her job and have the blood of an oracle on her hands/conscience.

I absolutely loved this story. It was well written and had me hooked pretty much all through the story. As this is the first story in the Outlier Prophesies series I need to get the next one now to know what happens next!!

Crimson Shadow: Noir by Nathan Squiers
Xander watched his abusive step-father murder his mother when he was a boy and has been trying to kill himself ever since but is always denied that relief. He is then faced with a choice between a continued miserable life as a human or continuing his lineage and becoming a vampire prodigy. He might have a little support but is this new life any easier than his old human one?

I liked some parts of this story but others were a little too dark for me but overall it was enjoyable.

A Touch of Darkness by Yelena Casale & Tina Moss
Cassie Durrett deals with excruciating pain that is a mystery to doctors while working at a New York diner. Then Gabe walks into the diner and tells her it is because she is a mythical creature - no way! Then his predictions start to come true and she ends up travelling across the country looking for answers. Can she find the answers and keep her heart intact?

I liked this book. It was well written and clear to understand.

See You In Hell by Demelza Carlton
Melody Angel is working as a temp for HELL Corporation trying to find out Lucifer's current evil plans so they can be stopped. However the CEO Luce Iblis is hot and determined to claim her body and soul.

I liked this charming story about Demons and Angels.

The Sorcery Code by Dima Zales
Blaise is a member of Sorcerer Council and has developed Gala - a beautiful and intelligent being created in the Spell Realm. Blaise's former fiancee Augusts sees Gala as an aboination and it determined to destroy her even if she has to use ruthless warrior Barso to help her.

I nice story and definitely the start of an epic. I liked the merge of sci/fi and fantasy.

I enjoyed all but two stories which I did not finish as there was no appeal to me. I know within two pages whether I will like a story. Discern and Sorcery Code did not catch my interest at all. I did read past the first couple of pages but stopped because I was not interested or enjoying them at all. The rest of the stories in the book were awesome! I loved PippaDacosta, C.Gockel and I read all the Null books in the series. The other authors have caught my interest and I will read more of them.

Absolutely Fantastic

This is one of the best collections of writings in this genre that I have ever read. So much so that I've already bought books from many of the authors in this collection. Each story is unique and totally enjoyable.

I've completed the first 2 books in this series so far: THE THOUGHT READERS by Dima Zales and VENGEANCE BE MINE by Louisa Lo.
The Thought Readers is such a new concept for me that I was hooked with Darren's first visit to the Quiet. I was literally jealous of this make-believe ability. I imagined all the time I would have to read every book I could possibly want without needing sleep!! I'd be there for years... The story gets really good with the on going battle between the Pushers and the Readers. I'll be keeping up with this series.
Vengeance Be Mine was also a great new story. Delivering torment to those that deserve it made me wish yet again that this could be real. Politicians beware! Megan is the main character and she is struggling to keep up with her class due to her hybrid nature. She still kicks serious butt and manages to make a deal with a mercenary that I am really excited to read about.
I've read books 3, 4 and 5 now.
Book 3: Secrets of the Hollows. This was one of the worst so far. I actually couldn't even finish it. It was that bad. I seem to have read this exact story line before a few times and found nothing in this one to set it apart from others. Big bad guy with supernatural powers falls for measly little human girl. Blah Blah boring.
Book 4: Discern. This book was only slightly better than the Hollows. I was really getting into the story of the fourth child having magical powers and the back story was a little confusing but still interesting enough to keep me reading. Then the tentacles showed up. I'm not sure why but this cross of sic-fi and fantasy just didn't do it for me. I was ready to throw in the towel but pushed through it anyway. The ancient beings just ruined the entire thing and it made no sense to me why they were even there on the same planet or why there was a weird underground cult type thing that stole people. Not one of my favorites.
Book 5: Wings of Hope. This story features a slave named Muse that is tortured and degraded beyond belief. But, a hybrid can do more than the run of the mill demon. This 'girl' survives and is shown a way out, she just has to take it. I have to say that I am very curious as to what will happen to her in the next book. I want to know how the changes and Mammon affect her future.
Book 6: is Angel Vindicated. I was a little worried about this book at first because of the description but it was pleasantly surprising. The main character, Abigail turned out to be very kick ass. She was a tough girl but still feminine so she was more relatable. She has some jerky guy friends and a stoned boss along with a timid rookie partner. Lots of drama to go around but some funny parts thrown in. I liked the story flow and the ending made me want to read more.
Book 7: Feral. I did not really understand this book. It jumps around a lot with a week here and a week there. I was not sure of the reason for that other than there wasn't much to read about. A girl strays from her family to try something new and meets some people and gets a job and finds other family. That's it. I skipped nearly have the book because it was useless and irrelevant information. It didn't add to the story or make it more interesting at all. I felt I had to prop my eyelids open just to read what I did. I took away a star from the overall set because of this one.
Book 8: Tutoring the Wolf. This book was more of a young adult sort of novel that had a HEA. Of course. It was cute and sweet and not boring. The magic in this book was similar to Harry Potter and there are references to that a couple times. The girl even says muggles. The college and dorms and the library were my favorite part. The girls live in a place called the Keep where no boy has ventured before though many have tried and failed miserably. It was a quick bed time story. Good writing though.

It was hard to give this series a rating. There were books that I loved - Louisa Lo and Pippa Dacosta, and a few that I found mildly interesting. They were well written- just my personal taste I guess. I would definitely recommend the series. Well worth the price.

With fifteen tales and eight-hundred-plus pages of magical fantasy and a line-up of contributors including: Dima Zales, Louisa Lo, Nicole Morgan, Andrea Pearson, Pippa DaCosta, Viola Estrella, Laxmi Hariharan, Jacqueline Sweet & Devon March, C. Gockel, L,J, Swallow, Tina Gower, Nathan Squiers, Yelena Casale & Tina Moss; its impossible to go wrong. The outstandingly priced anthology of tales introduces authors and sagas covering a spectacular range of the supernatural species and abilities, that is, it contains a broad enough range of challenges to cater for everyone. Even if you found just three tales, a mere twenty-percent of possible choices, then there's a bargain to be had. Packed with the first books, or the prequels, of many series, Name Your Demon is a great way to find some stunning series to be added to your TBR list, and adding many worthy authors to your Follow list.

Some examples of the aforementioned series include Louisa Lo's Vengeance Demons Book 1; Andrea Pearson's The Mosaic Chronicles Book 1; and Viola Estrella's Abby Angel Book 1; all of which are the first time they've ever appeared in a box set or anthology. This alone should highlight why Name Your Demon is a must, plus there's other series included such as Laxmi Hariharan's Many Lives Book 1. I've personally read and reviewed The Mosaic Chronicles one through seven as a member of Andrea's ARCAST and I'm not far off reviewing number eight. This series brings together science fiction fantasy in imaginative ways that support the many reasons readers of the separate genres science fiction and fantasy love the library they read. Having both aspects covered so well plus in a unique paradigm exemplifies why its one of the fastest growing and staple of fiction genres. I've also wanted to start the Vengeance Demons Series for a few months, ever since I got a recommended reading titles email from Amazon that included Louisa's sixth book of the series. So like Andrea's inclusion its great to be able to access starters in box sets and anthologies because you get to dive in with little risk because they're so cheap and have hundreds-of-thousands words.

Definitely a five star compilation and the start of many likely series and authors to branch out your library!

So far I have only read a few of the wonderful books in this bundle. My favorite one was totally new to me, and I want to share my thoughts:

ANGEL VINDICATED by Viola Estrella

I've never thought much about the hierarchy of angels or the specific jobs they are assigned on earth, but after reading this story, the views of Ms Estrella certainly seem feasible. Imagine if you will that demons roam the earth for the sole purpose of getting humans into trouble. Now imagine there is a division of angels who are responsible for keeping track of these demons, issuing them 2 warnings, and sending them back to hell when they get their third mark. Abigail Angel is one of those angels who goes out day after day (or night) and makes the world safe for humans by finding demons and sending them away through due process. She has few friends and is considered an oddball angel because she doesn't fit the blonde hair blue eye mold for angels with her out of control red hair and freckles. She also does the unthinkable with a half demon and later he declares his love for her. When the demon vs angel rebellion occurs, the results will surprise you!

I have read other books about demons and angels, but this is a story that went beyond the usual limits. It had friendship and family as important issues for both sides. It was well written and hard to put down! Ms Estrella writes descriptive phrases without giving away one word more than she thinks is necessary. Her style and ready acceptance of things unknown make this a terrific read and one I highly recommend.

I also have read DISCERN and SECRETS OF THE HOLLOWS thus far. Both have been great stories and kept my interest to the end. I am looking forward to reading more as time allows, and recommend this collection to anyone who likes-well, "mind readers, vampires, werewolves, soul hunters, angels, demons, sorcerers, Loki, witches, and oracles. "

If it's a YA book, please label it that way

Some of the stories were nice, had potential for grasping attention long term. A couple of authors I took note of. I was unhappy w/ majority being YA (in my opnion) and not being labeled as such. I don't need a bunch of sex scenes to keep me interested if it's a good story but I don't want to keep reliving someone else's "first time" and then the next story's "someone else's
First time", etc, etc. If I was in my teens or 20's that would be fine.

The Thought Reader by Dima Zales
2.5 Stars

This was a very unique book. I certainly have not read any of it's kind, as much as i enjoyed this author's uniqueness i did not particularly enjoy this book. There was a lot of science talk it made my brain spin, i do actually enjoy science only when it's medical, if it spins to something else then you lose me. The "splitting " was soooo exhausting. I literally had an headache from reading all that. Darren was always hoping in and out of the "Quiet" like no man's business and then when he learnt to "Read" it was a different ball-game, he read everything. I could understand it initially when he did it as the casino to read cards but to enter someone's mind without permission just for the fun of it left a bad taste. After meeting Eugene and Mira it was just a "Splitting" galore. I am naturally curious at the way things left off at the end but i don't think i have the willpower to solider on and continue reading the rest of the series.

Vengeance Be Mine by Louisa Lo /b>
3 Stars

I enjoyed this book a little better than the previous one. It was pretty straightforward and not at all hard to get into. Although i feel like everything happened pretty fast and we didn't really feel the depth of the main character's emotions.

Name Your Demon Kindle Edition
by Dima Zales  (Author), Louisa Lo  (Author), Nicole Morgan  (Author), Andrea Pearson  (Author), Pippa DaCosta  (Author), Viola Estrella  (Author), & 9 more
Fantastic collection of series starters and stand alone Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance! 5 big stars out of 5!
The novels range from telepaths (one story you will need a degree from MIT to read!) to genies to vengance demons and beyond!
Louisa Lo's Vengeance Be Mine, with its half vengeance demon half trickster heroine was my favorite! With its snappy dialogue and Joss Whedon references, the story clearly knew its stuff and had no issue with being self referential. Not only does Megan deal out vengance with a sly sense of justice and humor, she has to deal with the financial and emotional issues of a college junior.
Not all of the novels are up to Lo's standards but there are enough gems that it is worth the time and more than well worth the price!

WELL WORTH READING. This is a collection of stories from a wide variety of authors and writing styles. Just the stories Feral by Laxmi Hariharan, See You in Hell by Demelza Carlton, Discern by Andrea Pearson, and Tutoring the Wolf by Jacqueline Sweet makes this a set worth having. Then add in all the other authors and that's just a bonus. And most of these are not short quick reads like with so many sets. Whether you are familiar with these authors or not, you are sure to find a new author... or two.. or three... to read more from after you read their stories included here. I know I even found a couple of new authors (new to me anyway) that I want to read more from.

This is a review of Discern by Andrea Pearson -
I enjoy reading books about fantastical worlds with interesting characters. Andrea Pearson's book about fourth-born humans with magical abilities has a unique plot with plenty of twists & turns to keep the reader interested, but with enough hints so as not to feel manipulated. The writing is easy to read and well-paced with a good balance of action, suspense, some horror, and a hint of romance.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this 15 book collection. There are some collections that have only 2-3 good stories in the collection, while this one has way more. Very enjoyable like Wolves: I Bring The Fire about Loki and Amy, or Vengeance Be Mine (which was an amusing read), Discern & Feral.

If you like collections then this one that I recommend.

I'm giving this box set 5 stars as i enjoyed every single novel included. I find a lot of box sets always have novels I have already read, so I get really disappointed. Not Name your Demon, every novel had its own unique paranormal story, nothing overlapped. I'm so glad I pre-ordered this box set. I have been introduced to some great new Authors for me to follow.

Secrets of the Hollow by Nicole Morgan: Nicole is a new author to me. I was given this book for an honest review. I have to say, I quite enjoyed reading this book. I liked that she explained the history of X. I'm intrigued to see what happens in her next book because I'm left unsatisfied lol. Can't wait to see how this story will lead to.
